Lubang Penyangga Cedera
Piala Dunia 1986 Meksiko. Di awal babak kedua, bek Argentina Jose Luis Brown bertubrukan keras dengan pemain Jerman Barat Norbert Eder yang menyebabkan bahu kanannya mengalami dislokasi. Ketika sedang mendapat penanganan medis di pinggir lapangan, Brown memaksa dokter tim agar tetap mengizinkannya bermain sampai pertandingan selesai. "Sakitnya terasa sangat intens, tapi aku ingin terus bermain.

Vamos a ver Hermione HAY UNA NIÑA LLORANDO PORQUE UN ZORRO SE HA COMIDO SU CONEJO, ¿QUE NO TIENES PUTA EMPATÍA? ¿QUÉ NO VES QUE ESTO NO VA SOBRE TI Y LO LISTA QUE ERES SI NO DE CALLARTE LA PUTÍSIMA BOCA Y USAR LA EMPATÍA? OSTIAS

“Real time is slower than social-media time, where everything feels urgent. Real time often includes periods of silence, reflection, growth, space, self-forgiveness, processing with loved ones, rest, and responsibility.” adrienne maree brown, Emergent Strategy (149)
We're living in a time where our attention is more political than ever and has become a form of social currency. Between social media clicks and algorithms, 24-hour news cycles, endless streaming content, apps to ease every inconvenience, and expectations of being available at all times - digital distraction blurs our everyday interactions and confuses our relationships to labor, self, community, and empathy. Too Long; Didn’t Read (TL;DR) is coded internet language that exposes the attention culture that we accept as our new normal. TL;DR is an internet acronym signaling that whatever content follows could be long, tedious, and/or complex. This exhibition invites us to instead view TL;DR as a flag, warning us to pay attention, to be curious about what’s under the surface, and to decide, critically, what to invest our time in.
Too Long; Didn’t Read brings together works by Jose Luis Benavides, Andi Crist, Francis Dot, Hale Ekinci, Hasler Gomez, Kelly Kristin Jones, and Yuyang Zhang. While the works range from textiles, ceramics, painting, text, and installation, each artist employs tactics of attention. Yuyang Zhang and Andi Crist use humor and vernacular imagery to disarm their biting critiques of propaganda and professionalism. Francis Dot’s twenty-foot installation Time|Ghost|Town inundates the viewer with hazy outlines of histories of violence and extraction, inviting us to draw connections that may or may not be apparent. Similarly, Jose Luis Benavides’ letters presented from his documentary short, Letters to Lost Loved Ones, reveal and amplifies stories that our society works to silence, of incarcerated folks sharing their experience, struggles, and life during COVID-19 through their own voices and handwritten letters and poems. Hasler Gomez and Kelly Kristin Jones pull us in with repetition, asking us what can be learned from objects and images that may appear straightforward but when in multiples expand our knowledge of offered histories. Weaving, stitching, and layering are tactics used by Hale Ekinci to bring us into conversations about gendered labor and immigrant identity in a tactile web to notice every decision. Too Long; Didn’t Read offers a moment IRL (in real life) to slow down and witness what’s lost in our hightened attention culture and the urgency it demands. What can be found in that slowness and how can it change us?

Twins Edge Astros Late For Series Win!
Twins 4 Astros 3 W-Okert (2-0) L-Pressly (0-3) SV-Duran (10)
The Houston Astros hit four home runs to even the series at a game apiece yesterday. The rubber game was this afternoon between the Twins and Astros. The Twins were ready from the jump as Trevor Larnach led-off and crushed a Hunter Brown fastball out to right for a solo homer in the first. This put the Twins up by one before the Astros grabbed a bat. The Twins got back to work in the second when Willi Castro reached on an infield single and Alex Kirilloff doubled him home. The Astros answered in the second when Victor Caratini belted a Simeon Woods Richardson change-up out to right for a solo homer. Houston pulled within a run after two frames. The Astros got back to work in the third as Kyle Tucker lined a one-out single to right. Alex Bregman then smacked a Simeon Woods Richardson curveball out to left for a two-run homer to put Houston on top. The Twins bounced back in the sixth when Jose Miranda smoked a Hunter Brown fastball out to left-center for a solo homer, which tied the game at three. The bullpens settled things down until the eighth when Trevor Larnach drew a walk. Ryan Jeffers bunted the runner over and Jose Miranda hit a run-scoring double to left. Griffin Jax threw a 1-2-3 eighth and the Twins headed into the ninth with the lead. Jhoan Duran had a perfect ninth and the Twins picked up the series win in Houston today.
-Final Thoughts- Simeon Woods Richardson did decent in his first start back home. He went 4 1/3 innings and allowed three runs on three hits with two walks and six strikeouts. Caleb Thielbar got out of the fifth, and Jorge Alcala recorded four outs, Steven Okert got out of the seventh. Griffin Jax had a 1-2-3 eighth and Jhoan Duran shut the door in the ninth. Jose Miranda and Carlos Santana led the way with two hits each. The Twins hit 1-for-6 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base. The Twins will head to New York for an off day tomorrow. Bailey Ober will face Luis Gil in the series opener on Tuesday night.

There Are New Suns: Dal Niente + Ana García Jácome & Ariella Granados
“We have to recognize that a multitude of realities have, do, and will exist” ~ adrienne maree brown
There are new suns is a co-curated program of interdisciplinary and experimental performance works highlighting the edges of access, disability, and race. This is the third shared program between Dal Niente and other Chicago artists.
This program is curated by Alejandro Acierto and Jose Luis Benavides, and features works by Yun Lee, Jay Afrisando, Ana Garcia Jácome, Carolyn Chen, and Ariella Granados, with performances by Ariella Granados and Dal Niente members Alejandro Acierto, Zachary Good, and Mabel Kwan.
The program opens with Yun Lee’s Space C, a poetic gesture that relies on audio descriptions of a site inaccessible to the audience. Creating an imagined “third space”, Lee’s audio descriptive conventions articulate an audio environment similar to the performance venue yet not quite the same, blurring the sites of performance that are both unavailable to the audience and ever-present in its live performance. Working directly with audio captions as a central component of his work, Jay Afrisando’s videos from his [SOUNDSCAPTION] series invite viewers to imagine sounds as they are displayed in text on the screen. Based on phone footage from 2016-2020 and made at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, his videos respond to the prevalence of audio captioning used in Zoom calls (and now TikTok videos) that became a pivotal point of access for those communicating online in languages that were not native to them.
In her video essay, Malitas: women, disability and medical violence, Ana García Jácome moves us to reconsider histories of disability in Mexico that asserts a focused politic around the systems of access and how race and gender become impacted by those negotiations. Conversely, Carolyn Chen’s adagio features performers exuding complex facial expressions as they respond to an in-ear recording barely audible to the audience. A piece that translates feeling through the performing body, it gestures towards the transcendence of sound as a medium. Lastly, Ariella Granados performs a not-yet-titled improvisational work that recalls their first encounters with language and access to highlight distinct moments of their immigrant family’s experiences with language barriers.
There are new suns thus poetically and creatively describes multiple conditions of disability to speculate alternative relationships to sound, image, and language. Or, as Octavia Butler writes, “There is nothing new under the sun, but there are new suns.”

Second Atmospheric River in Days Blows Into California, Knocking Out Power and Flooding Roads
— By Christopher Weber | Associated Press | Sunday February 04, 2024
Los Angeles (AP) — The second of back-to-back atmospheric rivers battered California on Sunday, flooding roadways and knocking out power to nearly 850,000 people and prompting a rare warning for hurricane-force winds as the state braced for what could be days of heavy rains.
The storm inundated streets and brought down trees and electrical lines across the San Francisco Bay Area, where winds topped 60 mph (96 kph) in some areas. Gusts exceeding 80 mph (128 kph) were recorded in the mountains.
Just to the south in San Jose, emergency crews pulled occupants out of the windows of a car stranded by floodwaters and rescued people from a homeless encampment alongside a rising river.
In Southern California, officials warned of potentially devastating flooding and ordered evacuations for canyons that burned in recent wildfires that are at high risk for mud and debris flows. The National Weather Service office for Los Angeles warned that “all systems are go for one of the most dramatic weather days in recent memory.”
On Sunday, customers called the Santa Barbara Home Improvement Center inquiring about sandbags, flashlights and generators, said assistant manager Lupita Vital. Sandbags sold out on Saturday, so people were buying bags of potting soil and fertilizer instead, she said.
“People are trying to get anything they can get that’s heavy to use it as, you know, protection for their doors and everything,” Vital said Sunday.
“This storm is predicted to be one of the largest and most significant in our county’s history, and our goal is to get through it without any fatalities or any serious injuries,” Santa Barbara County Sheriff Bill Brown told reporters Saturday. Classes were canceled Monday for schools across the county, which was devastated by mudslides caused by powerful storms in 2018.
Strong winds and heavy rain brought treacherous conditions to the coastal city of Ventura, west of Los Angeles, said Alexis Herrera, who was trying to bail out his sedan which was filled with floodwater. “All the freeways are flooded around here,” Herrera said in Spanish. “I don’t know how I’m going to move my car.”
More than 847,000 Customers were without electricity statewide by Sunday evening, with most of the outages concentrated in coastal regions, according to poweroutage.us.
Six San Francisco Bay Area counties were at low risk of waterspouts coming ashore and becoming tornadoes, said the Storm Prediction Center. The last time the center forecasted a tornado risk in the region was in February 2015, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.
Winds caused hours-long delays at San Francisco International Airport. By 2:30 p.m. Sunday, 155 departing flights were delayed and 69 had been canceled, according to the tracking website FlightAware.
Palisades Tahoe, a ski resort about 200 miles (320 kilometers) northeast of San Francisco, said it was anticipating the heaviest snowfall yet this season, with accumulations of 6 inches (15 centimeters) per hour for a total of up to two feet (60 centimeters). Heavy snow was expected into Monday throughout the Sierra Nevada and motorists were urged to avoid mountain roads.
Much of the state had been drying out from the system that blew in last week, causing flooding and dumping welcome snow in mountains. The latest storm, also called a “Pineapple Express” because its plume of moisture stretches back across the Pacific to near Hawaii, arrived offshore in Northern California on Saturday, when most of the state was under some sort of wind, surf or flood watch.
The weather service on Sunday issued a rare “hurricane force wind warning” for the Central Coast, with wind gusts of up to 92 mph (148 kph) possible from the Monterey Peninsula to the northern section of San Luis Obispo County.
Meanwhile, Southern California was at risk of substantial flooding beginning late Sunday because of how slow the system was moving, said Ryan Kittell, a meteorologist at the weather service’s Los Angeles-area office.
“The core of the low pressure system is very deep, and it’s moving very slowly and it’s very close to us. And that’s why we have those very strong winds. And the slow nature of it is really giving us the highest rainfall totals and the flooding risk,” he said at a Sunday briefing.
Evacuation orders and warnings were in effect for mountain and canyon areas of Monterey, Santa Barbara, Ventura and Los Angeles counties. LA County Supervisor Lindsay Horvath urged residents near wildfire burn areas of Topanga and Soledad canyons to heed orders to get out ahead of possible mudslides.
“If you have not already left, please gather your family, your pets, your medications and leave immediately,” Horvath said at a Sunday briefing. The county set up shelters where evacuees could spend the night.
Gov. Gavin Newsom on Sunday declared a state of emergency for Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara and Ventura counties. The Governor’s Office of Emergency Services activated its operations center and positioned personnel and equipment in areas most at risk.
The storm was expected to move down the coast and bring heavy rain, possible flash-flooding and mountain snow to the Los Angeles area late Sunday, before moving on to hammer Orange and San Diego counties on Monday.
“This is a dangerous system with major risks to life and property,” the weather service’s LA-area office said. “Residents should heed any evacuation orders. Stay off the roads, especially the freeways, this afternoon through at least Monday morning.”
Organizers of the Grammy Awards in downtown Los Angeles were hoping the Sunday evening show would end before the fiercest rain moved in.
As of Sunday afternoon, the Los Angeles Unified School District, the nation’s second largest, said it was planning to open schools as usual Monday. The decision would be reevaluated at 6 a.m. Monday, said Superintendent Alberto Carvalho.
The weather service forecast up to 8 inches (20 cm) of rainfall across Southern California’s coastal and valley areas, with 14 inches (35 cm) possible in the foothills and mountains. Heavy to moderate rain is expected in Southern California until Tuesday.

Trans folks will someday be revered as the visionaries they are. Until then, the violence must end.
The Human Rights Campaign has reported that at least 30 trans and gender non-conforming people were killed in the United States in 2023. 87% were people of color, with 50% being Black trans women. 77% were murdered with a firearm, and 50% were misgendered or deadnamed by authorities or the press. Anti-trans lawmakers have changed that. The political divide is creating “two Americas” for LGBTQ+ people. Abolitionists joined together to work for the immediate end to the institution of slavery and the cessation of racial discrimination and segregation. They faced steep opposition from many quarters, including a number of Christian denominations who asserted that sacred scripture not only condoned but mandated the practice of slavery. Young people conducted a number of sit-in demonstrations at Southern lunch counters to end Jim Crow laws of segregated public facilities, all while enduring the abusive taunts of onlookers and the crashing batons of local police. Demonstrators faced imprisonment and the imposition of permanent criminal records. Feminists formed a new wave in the fight for women’s suffrage against a high tide of obstructionism within a patriarchal system of male domination and misogyny, and an attitude that the enfranchisement of women would destroy Christianity and civilization itself. The Church convicted physicist and astronomer Galileo Galilei on the charge of heresy by insisting that the Earth revolves around the Sun, rather than, as per Church teaching, that the Earth was the immovable center of the universe with the Sun revolving around the Earth. Galileo spent the remainder of his life under house arrest. Joan of Arc, the teenager who helped defeat the English in her native France, became one of the greatest war heroes in French history. In spite of this, she was tried by the Catholic Church on the charge of heresy in rejecting Church authority in preference for direct inspiration from God, and most importantly, by donning men’s clothing. Joan died by burning at the stake. Libby Spotlight: Nonfiction eBook Picks for Hispanic Heritage Month
My Voice by Angie Martinez
In her current reign at Power 105.1 and for nearly two decades at New York’s Hot 97, Angie Martinez has had one of the highest rated radio shows in the country. After working her way up as an intern, she burst on the scene as a young female jock whose on-air “Battle of the Beats” segment broke records and became a platform for emerging artists like a young Jay Z. Angie quickly became known for intimate, high-profile interviews, mediating feuds between artists, and taking on the most controversial issues in hip hop. At age twenty-five, at the height of the East Coast/West Coast rap war, Angie was summoned by Tupac Shakur for what would be his last no-holds-barred interview—which has never aired in its entirety and which she’s never discussed in detail—until now.
Angie shares stories from behind-the-scenes of her most controversial conversations, from onetime presidential hopeful Barack Obama to superstars like Mary J. Blige and Chris Brown, and describes her emotional, bittersweet final days at Hot 97 and the highly publicized move to Power 105.1. She also opens up about her personal life—from her roots in Washington Heights and her formative years being raised by a single mom in Brooklyn to exploring the lessons that shaped her into the woman she is today.
Dear America by Jose Antonio Vargas
"This is not a book about the politics of immigration. This book––at its core––is not about immigration at all. This book is about homelessness, not in a traditional sense, but in the unsettled, unmoored psychological state that undocumented immigrants like myself find ourselves in. This book is about lying and being forced to lie to get by; about passing as an American and as a contributing citizen; about families, keeping them together, and having to make new ones when you can't. This book is about constantly hiding from the government and, in the process, hiding from ourselves. This book is about what it means to not have a home.
After 25 years of living illegally in a country that does not consider me one of its own, this book is the closest thing I have to freedom."
—Jose Antonio Vargas, from Dear America
The Far Away Brothers by Lauren Markham
Growing up in rural El Salvador in the wake of the civil war, the United States was a distant fantasy to identical twins Ernesto and Raul Flores—until, at age seventeen, a deadly threat from the region’s brutal gangs forces them to flee the only home they’ve ever known.
In this urgent chronicle of contemporary immigration, journalist Lauren Markham follows the Flores twins as they make their way across the Rio Grande and the Texas desert, into the hands of immigration authorities, and from there to their estranged older brother in Oakland, CA. Soon these unaccompanied minors are navigating school in a new language, working to pay down their mounting coyote debt, and facing their day in immigration court, while also encountering the triumphs and pitfalls of teenage life with only each other for support. With intimate access and breathtaking range, Markham offers an unforgettable testament to the migrant experience.
Always Running by Luis J. Rodriguez
Luis J. Rodríguez joined his first gang at age eleven. As a teenager, he witnessed the rise of some of the most notorious cliques in Southern California. He grew up knowing only a life of violence—one that revolved around drugs, gang wars, and police brutality. But unlike most of those around him, Rodríguez found a way out when art, writing, and political activism gave him a new path—and an escape from self-destruction.
Always Running spares no detail in its vivid, brutally honest portrayal of street life and violence, and it stands as a powerful and unforgettable testimonial of gang life by one of the most acclaimed Chicano writers of his generation.

With The Martian Invading Space City, The Yanks Sweep the Astros
NYY @ HOU
Game 1
LHP Carlos Rodón towed the slab for the New York Yankees at Minute Maid Park versus RHP Justin Verlander in his second stint with the Houston Astros.
In the top of the first inning, 1B DJ LeMahieu hit a leadoff home run off Verlander, immediately making the score 1-0 Yankees.
Later in the same inning, rookie CF Jasson Domínguez – named after former MLB first baseman Jason Giambi, who was well-liked as a Yankee and teammate in general – got his first major league hit.
This first major league hit was The Martian’s first home run, a two-run shot off Verlander, scoring DH Giancarlo Stanton and himself in the process. The Yankees extended the against the Astros to 3-0.

When I first witnessed this kid’s at-bat, I exclaimed, “This isn’t real life! Major League Baseball is not that easy!”
As the game progressed, 1B Jose Abreu hit a solo home run off Rodón in the bottom of the second inning. The Astros were on the board, now 3-1 Yankees.
In the top of the third inning, Stanton hit a two-run home run off Verlander, scoring RF Aaron Judge. The Yankees now led by 5-1.
In the bottom of the third inning, RF Kyle Tucker hit an RBI double, scoring 3B Alex Bregman. It was 5-2 Yankees.
In the top of the fifth inning, Judge hit a solo home run off Verlander. The Yankees extended their lead to 6-2. This was the final score of this game.
Another note from this game was that rookie C Austin Wells got his first major league hit – a single – off Verlander in the top of the second inning.
Game 2
RHP Luis Severino started for the Yankees against RHP Hunter Brown for the Astros.
In the top of the second inning, 2B Oswald Peraza an RBI single off H. Brown, which scored Stanton. The Yankees took the lead 1-0.
In the same inning, 3B Oswaldo Cabrera walked, forcing in SS Anthony Volpe as an insurance run with the bases loaded against H. Brown. The Yankees now led by 2-0.
In the bottom of the second inning, LF Michael Brantley hit a two-run home run off Severino, scoring Abreu and himself. The score was tied at 2-2.
In the top of the third inning, Judge hit a solo home run off H. Brown. The Yankees once again took the lead at 3-2.
In the bottom of the fourth inning, C Yainer Diaz hit a two-run home run off Severino, scoring Brantley and himself. The Astros took the lead at 4-3.
In the top of the fifth inning, Wells got his first major league RBI by hitting a sacrifice fly off reliever Phil Maton, scoring Judge. The score was knotted at 4-4.
In the same inning, LF Everson Pereira hit an RBI single off Maton, scoring Domínguez. The Yankees took the lead in this game by 5-4 and won by this score.
Game 3
RHP Michael King got the start for the Yankees versus RHP Cristian Javier for the Astros.
In the bottom of the first inning, Tucker hit a sac fly off King, scoring Bregman. The Astros took the lead at 1-0.
The scoring in general would cease until the top of the sixth inning, when LeMahieu hit an RBI double off Javier, scoring Cabrera. The score was tied at 1-1.
In the same inning, The Martian hit his second major home run and third major league. Domínguez’s second major league hit – a single in the top of the sixth inning off relief pitcher Rafael Montero – came in game two of this series.
youtube
The youngster’s home run was off Javier and another two-run shot, scoring LeMahieu. The Yankees took the lead by 3-1.
In the top of the ninth inning, 2B Gleyber Torres – plagued by lower back issues and sat earlier in this series – hit a solo home run off relief pitcher José Urquidy. The Yankees extended their lead to 4-1.
In the same inning, Wells gets his first RBI hit – a double – off Urquidy, scoring Volpe. The Yankees now led by 5-1.
Later in the inning, Peraza hit an RBI double off Urquidy, scoring Wells. The Yankees went ahead by 6-1 and would win by that score.
Something to note in this game was that King was able to pitch the minimum number of innings to qualify for a win. He pitched five innings, giving up one earned run and getting four strikeouts.
With this outing under his belt, King could definitely be a more consistent starting pitcher next season. It might be too late to try something like that this season.

6.2.24-Simeon Woods Richardson RHP (2-0) 2.70 ERA Vs. Hunter Brown RHP (1-5) 6.39 ERA
The Twins At A Glance- The Twins took three of four from the Royals to close out a (5-2) homestand. The team now heads out on a nine-game, three-city road trip that starts in Houston tonight. Royce Lewis continues to work his way back on a rehab assignment with the Saints. The Saints are in Rochester and he might be activated before the Yankees series next week. Brooks Lee has been on a rehab assignment with Fort Myers. Brock Stewart has been throwing plyo balls as he nears a rehab assignment. Alex Kirilloff is hitting .357 with two homers and five RBI over the past week. Ryan Jeffers might have broken out of a slump with a pair of homers on Thursday. Josh Staumont has thrown 7 1/3 shutout innings since getting called up. Diego Castillo is another intriguing option to the bullpen. Joe Ryan owned a 2.51 ERA in the month of May.
The Astros At A Glance- The Astros had a rough (10-19) stretch in April, but have been playing better in May. They are (15-13) in May and the Mariners took three of four from them in Seattle. The Astros return home for a six-game homestand this week. Houston lost some key pieces from last year as Michael Brantley retired, Martin Maldonado signed with the White Sox and Hector Neris signed with the Cubs. Jeremy Pena leads the team with a .302 average. Kyle Tucker has been carrying the offense with eighteen homers and thirty-nine RBI. Jose Abreu is back after getting sent to the Florida Complex league in late-April. Alex Bregman has had a slow start as well. The pitching staff has had a rash of injuries. Lance McCullers, Cristian Javier and Jose Urquidy have forearm injuries and Luis Garcia is working his way back from Tommy John surgery. They signed Josh Hader to close out games and he's been okay with a 3.81 ERA. Ryan Pressly has struggled as a set-up man with a 5.06 ERA.
What To Watch For- The Twins went (4-2) against the Astros in the regular season then lost three of four games in the ALDS to the Astros. Pablo Lopez has a 4.15 ERA in one start against the Astros. He also threw seven shutout innings against them in Game 2 of the ALDS last year. Ronel Blanco gave up four runs over one career inning against the Twins. Joe Ryan is (1-2) with a 8.36 ERA in three starts against Houston. Framber Valdez is (3-1) with a 2.37 ERA in seven games against the Twins. Simeon Woods Richardson has never faced the Astros. Hunter Brown is (1-1) with a 3.86 ERA in two starts versus the Twins. The Twins get to face a beat up Astros team with revenge on their mind from getting knocked out of the playoffs last year.

Semplicemente "Tata"
