Why'd You Leave Me: Joe Burrow
Joe Burrow Masterlist
word count: 300
Description: Inspired by this video I saw on Instagram
A/N: I got inspired to write this after watching this video on Instagram, I'll try to post the link in the comments!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You and Joe had been laying down catching up on one of y'all's tv shows when you noticed that Joe had fallen asleep. You quietly turned off the show and put on the one that you guys used for background noise when y'all cleaned and slept, so he wouldn't wake up. You grabbed your phone and kindle and quietly made your way out of y'all's room so you wouldn't disturb him knowing how tired he has been lately.
You took a seat on the couch and covered up with a blanket and started reading your kindle. It was probably thirty minutes later when you were deep in your book when you heard footsteps making you look up and see a very sleepy Joe standing there with a pout on his face.
"Hi my baby." You said locking your kindle as you looked at him.
"Why'd you leave me?" He asked looking at you.
"Awh Joey, you fell asleep while we were watching our show and I didn't want to disturb you." You said to him.
"I turned over and didn't feel you. You just left me." He said breaking your heart.
"Come here Joey." You said opening your arms and motioning for him to come lay down with you.
He makes his way over to you and lays down in your lap wrapping his arms around you, as you ran a hand through his hair.
"I don't like waking up and you not being here baby." He said quietly.
"I'm sorry Joey it won't happen again, I promise." You said placing a kiss on his forehead.
You soon felt him drift back asleep. Who knew your 6'3 quarterback boyfriend was so clingy while he slept?

Lover
Warnings: LSU Joe, smut, semi dom! Joe, rough sex, and I can't think of anything else lol
Description: It is your first week at LSU and you get invited to a party where the LSU quarterback introduces himself and shows you around campus which ends in some fun.
Authors Note: Should I make this a series?
Words: 1,673
"Hey", you hear a voice say from behind you which is surprising since you didn't really know anyone here which is why you wanted to go to the party.
"Oh...hi", you say nervously after realizing that the LSU quarterback Joe Burrow actually just spoke to you.
Joe smiles warmly at you, taking in your nervousness and wanting to ease it. "It's alright I won't bite", he says softly. "Are you new here", he ask you.
"Yea", you respond shyly but more at ease than you were before.
"Would you maybe like to dance", he ask you.
"Na I am not much of a dancer", you laugh. "I was actually just about to leave anyway", you say.
Joe smiles at you once again "If you don't mind maybe I could take you on a walk and show you around since it is your first day", he says sweetly. "Sure, that would be nice", you reply back to him.
Joe gently takes your hand, his touch sending shivers down your spine as he leads you both out of the party. The cool night air gently brushes against your skin as you begin to walk around the campus.
Joe squeezes your hand gently, a slight blush creeping onto his cheeks. "So are you enjoying the walk so far", he smiles at you.
"Yes", you say in a sweet tone.
Joe leans closer to you, he looks at you with an irresistible grin that makes you feel butterflies. "Well there is something I would like to show you it is this secret spot that I found that I like to go and look at the stars at. We can chat there if you want", he says softly.
"That sounds nice", you say back to him with a smile on your face.
As you follow Joe, he turns to face you, his eyes shining with a playful gleam. "So tell me what do you think of LSU so far", he says
"I like it...it's just pretty lonely here...I think it is kinda funny the first person who even gives me the time of day is the star quarterback", you say laughing cutely.
Joe laughs as well and smiles at you his eyes crinkling with amusement. "Well I may be the star quarterback but that doesn't stop me from being a genuine and caring person as well", he says.
"That's sweet", you say.
Joe grins, his confidence slightly growing as he leads you to his secret spot. As you reach the secluded area thru the trees, he helps you sit down on the soft patch of grass and he sits next to you. "I promise to make your time at LSU worth it", he says, and you slightly blush at his words.
"By the way I never asked your name, I am sorry", he laughs.
"Oh...my name is Y/N", you say sweetly.
"That is a beautiful name", he says.
"I'm Joe", he says as if you don't already know.
"I know", you say making him blush slightly.
He grins at you before slowly starting to lean closer to you. "You know if we start anything we should take it slowly", he says smirking.
"Start what", you say as you also lean closer to his face.
Joe's heart skips a beat at the feeling of your breath fanning against his cheek. He knows exactly what he wants to start with you.
He starts to lean in closer. "Can I kiss you", he in a soft tone to make you feel comfortable around him.
"Yes...please", you say in response.
With a gentle but passionate touch, Joe's lips meet yours. The sparks between you two ignite like a wildfire, sending shivers down your spine. He deepens the kiss slowly, savoring every moment of this connection.
As the kiss intensifies, Joe's tongue dances with yours exploring every inch of your mouth. His hands roam over your body, tracing every curve and contour as he presses closer to you. The heat between them grows exponentially, fueling their desire for more.
"Do you wanna have sex", you say quietly between kisses.
Joe's heart races at your bold question. He pulls away from your kiss, looking into your eyes. There's an unspoken understanding in his gaze as he nods slowly. "Yes I do". he says.
You both stand up an Joe wraps his muscular arms around you, pulling you closer to him. He starts kissing your neck softly, his warm breath sending shivers down your spine. With one fluid motion, he lifts you effortlessly into his arms like a princess carried by her prince.
Joe carries you to a nearby tree and sets you down up against it. You lean up against the rough bark. "I need you right now...please", you say almost begging him.
Joe's eyes darken with lust at your demands. He positions himself between your legs, his hard cock rubbing against your wet folds through your cloths. With a growl of need he reaches down and unbuttons his pants and take off both them and his underwear. Your eyes widen at his impressive length.
She then takes off her skirt and panties.
Joe's mouth water at the sight of her being ready to take him. His cock throbs in anticipation as he guides it towards your entrance.
"Take me Joe", you say.
Joe looks into your eyes, his expression a mix of lust and love. With one final breath he positions himself at your entrance. Slowly, he pushes inside you, filling you up with his thick length.
"Fuck...you are so big Joe", you moan. "Could you maybe stay still for a second so I can get used to it. I will tell you when to start moving", she says almost breathlessly.
Joe bites his bottom lip, trying to remain still as you adjust to his size. His cock twitches inside you, desperate for movement.
"Ok, you can start moving", she says grabbing the back of his head placing his forehead onto hers.
Joe exhales shakily as he feels your consent. His hands grip your hips firmly, anchoring him to you as he begins to move slowly at first. But the his thrust deepen and intensify, matching the rhythm of your moans.
Joe groans as he places his head on your shoulder turning to start kissing your neck. His hips starts to move faster and harder. He then kisses you passionately, tasting your sweetness as he loses himself in the sensation of being inside of you.
Joe picks up the speed even faster, his body moving in tandem with yours. The sound of their skin slapping together fills the air as he drives deeper still, hitting that sweet spot inside you over and over again.
"Right there", you moan to him.
Joe lets out a low growl, his voice low and rough. His hips jerk forward violently, pulling out almost completely before slamming back in.
Joe's breath hitches as he feels you tighten around him. His fingers dig into your hips, holding onto you as he loses control to the intense pleasure coursing through his body.
Joe's movements become even more frantic. Their rhythm grows faster and more intense, matching the moans that escape your lips.
With one swift motion, he fully pull out of you before slamming back up into you, practically choking you on his girth, as he begins to drive the both of them to the edge.
"Are you gonna cum", you moan loudly.
He groans, his voice strangled. His grip on your hips tightens, pulling you closer as he tries to maintain control. Sweat beads on both of your foreheads and his breathing becomes ragged. "Yes...I'm so fucking close", he groans.
"Fuck", he groans as he feels you tighten around him. His thrust become more erratic and forceful, with desperation to bring you both to completion.
"I think I am gonna cum Joe", you say breathlessly
"Fuck...cum on my cock baby" he says as you cover his cock in your fluids. Feeling you tighten and pulse around his cock makes his pace more frantic, and powerful with each thrust driving him closer to the edge.
Joe's movements become rougher still as he nears his release. With one final thrust, he grunts out your name and empties himself inside of you.
A little later after you clean up
"We should probably get dressed before anyone see's us", you say.
"Yeah probably", he replies back.
"I have a question", you say to him.
"What's that?", he ask, not looking up from his task of pulling back on his underwear and pants.
"What are we?", you ask. "Are we just a one night stand or something more?". you say.
"I don't know", he admits honestly. "I mean, I really like what we just did..."
"So did I", you say softly.
He smiles, a shy blush creeping onto his face.
There is a long pause as they both continue to star at each other. Finally Joe says softly, "I think there might be something more here", he says grabbing her hand, squeezing it gently and reassuringly. "I want to explore whatever it is between us".
"Me too", you say back to him in a soft tone.
Joe smiles, relieved and excited by her response. "Ok", he says with a nod. "Do you maybe wanna go on a date tomorrow", he says with a smile.
"Definitely", you say with a grin. "I would like that a lot actually". You kisses him on the lips. "Here give me your phone I will put my number in",. she says.
He gives her his phone and you enters in her number. "Well I should probably get back to my dorm".
He gives her a tight hug. "I am looking forward to tomorrow ", he says
You wave goodbye him, and he waves back as you walk away.
At Joe's dorm
As Joe finally climbs into bed, he can't hep but replay what they had done earlier. He slowly drifts off to sleep with a contented smile on his face, dreaming of the possibilities that lie ahead with her...

HEARTSEASE
Masterlist
“Damn it” It’s the second time in less than 5 minutes that my finger got stuck in a flowerpot, if this keeps going it will be purple by the end of the day.
The sound of the door makes me stand but my hopes get crushed; my finger is already turning purple.
“Hi, how can I help you?” My eyes are stuck to my finger, maybe a band aid will help.
“Hi, I've come to pick a couple of bouquets.” I remember Lilian left me a note next to the computer of the customers that come every week without fail.
I shake my head, raising my eyes… you must be joking.
“Am, Joe right?” Joe nods, taking out his credit card. “Give me a second, I’ll bring it.”
In the back room I have my little crisis, Lilian told me a <Joe> always comes Tuesday morning for 3 bouquets of flowers, she didn’t have any specific type of flowers he prefers, but he clearly likes tulips so she made sure to have 3 bouquets of tulips ready.
A little issue, she forgot to specify that <Joe> is Joe Burrow.
I take a deep breath walking to the counter with the bouquets, fighting for my life for not making a huge scene.
I’m not a huge fan of football but being raised in a family who loves it, makes me really aware of who Joe Burrow is, plus he’s so handsome face to face.
I follow the protocolary steps for a sale, however a painful finger complicates a few things.
“Are you new?” His question along the judgy face to my finger made me laugh. “I don’t trying to sound rude, it’s just I've never seen you before.”
“No, I get it, don't worry.” I choke my head trying to explain how the hell I end it here. “Am, I’m Lilian’s friend and partner.”
As we finished college Lilian was pretty determined to follow her dreams, be the owner of her own florist's, so for a full year worked in set everything, until she realized she didn't have any clue of how to make this work. A late night call and her persuasive speech was enough for me to turn on her partner.
Lilian is in charge of all the flower things and me, I’m pretty good with numbers and paperwork.
“Oh, you’re her neuron girl?” Since middle school Lilian has given me that nickname after she knew I was the highest score in math in our classroom. Like she said, <I’m the hands, you’re the brain>
I nod smiling. “I am.”
Joe smiles, extending his hands. “I’m Joe Burrow.”
“I know!” Way to a cheerful answer. “Sorry, I know.” I answer in a calm tone, shaking his hand.
“So, you’ll be working here?” He asks looking around the florist's, a little bit messy, opposite of how Lilian used to have it.
“Oh, no, no, just a few months until Lilian sets her new routine.” He narrowed his eyes. “No way!, You don’t know? Don’t offend but for being one of our best customers, it’s kind of impressive.”
Joe laughs scratching his nose. “She’s going to get married. Right now she is with her fiance in South Carolina, giving the big news.”
“Oh, she told me something about a big change, she didn’t specify.” Another man enters looking between the bouquets. “Well, I leave you, thanks.”
I nod, smiling at him. “You’re welcome, thanks for coming.”
“I guess, I see you around, right?” Joe asks before turning away with the bouquets in his hands.
“I’m afraid you do.” He laughs walking to the door.
Lilian of course sees my awkward interaction with Joe through the security cameras, in my defense if she even mentions or specifies who Joe is, all be more calm.
“Don’t worry, he just passed one per week, so you probably will see him a few times.” Lilian said before I change the topic about their tour for South Carolina announcing to the closest friends and family of Jason, her finance.
The day passed as I got used to the movement around the florist's and all the handy tasks, the administrative ones I have under control.
“Ok, ok, slow, slow.” Colin, my little brother, makes me laugh. We spent an hour in a video call explaining to him his calculus homework.
I explained to him one more time, like if I teached him to count for the very first time. “Got it?”
The door announced a new customer. “Hey, I have to go, practice and call me in case I need to explain to you one more time.
Collin nods, biting the tip of his pen before raising his eyes with a smile. “Take care, it’s starting to get cold.”
“Love you.” I nod laughing for the way he scratches his forehead, for sure he will call me.
“Hi, how can I help you?” I close my laptop. “Joe, hi.”
Joe is waiting next to the new bouquets I made this morning; as I analyzed my words I opened my eyes. A week has passed? I don’t have his bouquets ready.
“Shit, sorry, I don’t have anything ready but if you give me a…” Joe giggles, shaking his head.
“It’s all right, I actually came early.” He has his hands in his pockets. “I have a… flower emergency.”
I tilt my head. “I need a bouquet so, what better than to come to my place of trust.”
“Oh, what do you need?” Joe looked around but his eyes stuck to the bouquet next to him.
“These are…” I feel very proud that it calls for his attention.
I walked where he was with a proud smile. “Heartsease.” Still his eyes didn't move, probably that wasn’t the one he was looking for. “But if you…”
“You made it?” His honest curiosity made me smile.
“That obvious , huh?” Joe laughs but raises his hands.
“No, no, it’s pretty, I’ll take it.” My eyes wide open. “If someone hasn’t taken it already.”
“NO.” Jesus! I should control my voice tone. “I mean, no, I’ll get ready for you.”
I take the bouquet feeling proud, after all it’s my first own made bouquet that sells.
“Here you have, and your card.” He takes the bouquet and his card. “Thanks for your purchase.”
Joe nods, walking back to the door, but stops. “Can you have another in two days at this hour?”
I smile. “Of course.” Joe nods with a press lip smile.
“Then I see you tomorrow.” He walks outside of the store smelling his bouquet with a slight smile on his face.
That's how he passed every two days for the same type of bouquet… for 2 weeks, at the beginning I made sure I had it prepared but with time I took my time to make it as he was in the store, sharing good talks and laughs with him.
Getting closer to the guy who’s making these days more comfortable and easy going.
“It’s late, what the hell are you doing there?” Lilian complained after I picked up her video call.
I switch the camera so she can see I’m making the last bouquet that I totally forgot I must deliver early in the morning.
“I have a lot of flowers to receive this week and I totally forgot, so here I am.” Lilian giggles, she looks tired but happy. “Are you all right?”
“Yes, of course, just a lot of movement around here.” She shakes her head. “Hey, for two weeks and looking at the numbers you’re dealing pretty well there.”
Our sales are maintained and even on some days increase, making me feel proud.
“Joe shops help a lot.” It’s been 5 days since he stopped coming after a game outside of Cincinnati.
“I guess, it’s pretty weird though.” She remains in silence thinking. “Maybe he has a girlfriend”
“Yes, I think the same, I guess the flowers work all the time.” I put the last flower on the bouquet to talk freely.
She winks her eyes. “Told you. However please send him a bouquet, the hit he received last game seems pretty nasty.”
“What hit?” Lilian rolls her eyes, sending me a link of a video, where you can see Joe has been literally smashed against the ground. “Auch.”
“You know there are more than 49ers in the league, right?” She’s fully aware of my family being big fans of them, after all, that’s where we live. “His address is on the computer.”
I see how her smile brightens the sign that Jason is in the room, confirming it when he appears behind her giving a kiss in her head.
“Hi, Y/N.” He greteen me. “I promise, give me another month and she’ll be yours one more time.”
I laugh seeing how they look at each other. “Oh, no, she’s fully yours now, believe me.”
They share a quick kiss in front of me. “Oh my, I’ll leave you, it’s nice to see you Jason.”
The couple laughs as he waves his hand before disppared. “Don’t forget the bouquet, ok?”
“How could I?” I said before hanging out, seeing the bouquet I forgot to do days ago.
After a long day of coming and going Gael arrived at the store for the last delivery. Gael is a boy, similar age as Colin, who Lilian contracted months ago; even at the benign I was reluctant, meeting him made the decision look so easy. Since the first day he helps me everytime he can, even teaches me things Lilian does and I don’t even know.
“This is the last one, I promise.” He sat in the chair next to the counter tired of going all over the town. “You can go after this.”
Gael shakes his head. “It’s fine, I can help you to close.”
I smile while putting the note in the bouquet. “I can handle myself, go, you deserved it.”
“Ok.” He stands taking the bouquet with him. “See you tomorrow Y/N.”
I smile waving my hand, a bouquet of tulips and heartsease on the way to Joe house.
Wednesday morning is going so relaxing after a busy week, this seems to be my relaxing day; for the day Lilian and I have been talking about taking a week off and going home, like she said after all <You’re running this alone> but I will reserve that for thanksgiving.
It’s Colin's last Thanksgiving before going to college, so I want to be there to enjoy the holidays with my family.
“How do I look?” Gael came out from the back of the store with nice clothes for his date.
I clap loudly making him feel shy for the way he clears his throat and stands straight. “Be careful boy or I’ll kick you out of here all right?”
Gael nods hugging me, I just help a little bit with the outfit selections. “Promise. I have to go or I’ll be late.”
He was almost at the door when I saw the bouquet. “Hey! Take this.” Gael searches in his pockets. “It’s on the house.”
He took the bouquet of my hands kissing my cheek. “The best bosses in the world.”
I laughed, pushing him, making some things fall on the ground. As I picked them up hearing the door open on close one more time.
“Now what? What do you forget?” I stand hitting my head with the desk.
“Omg, are you all right?” Joe approached as I held my head.
A smile appears on my face. “Joe, hi!” Yes, it hurts. “Yeah, it’s just a bump. I think I’m the one who should be asking you that.”
Joe laughs, making me sit on the chair. “I’m better, thanks for asking.” He sat on his feet to be at the level of my eyes. “Are you sure you’re ok?”
I nod. “Yeah, nothing a painkiller won’t take away.” I shake my head feeling his eyes on me all the time. “Tell me, how can I help you?”
“Yeah, right, I came for a bouquet.” I nod but he doesn’t move so I can’t stand.
“Am, I need to stand to give you the bouquet.” He blinks and stands.
“Right, sorry.” I smile. “Can you put this on the bouquet?” He gives a small envelope.
After all, I think Lilian is right, Joe has a girlfriend.
“For someone special?” I look at him raising my eyebrows, his face turns red and giggles. “Ok, I get, what do you want in that bouquet?”
“Same as always.” He walks around the shop. “Hey, thank you for the bouquet from last week.”
I started to prepare for it. “Oh, I hope at least you won’t miss your three-day-bouquet.”
I heard him giggling, but I’m pretty focused on my task. “Do you mind taking a look at the note? I don’t mind a second point of view.”
“Sure, I’m warning you, I’m not good at romantic advice.” After cleaning my hands I opened the small envelope. “This is a chessy note or a r…”
My words stuck on my throat. <Can I have your number?> I tilt my head, no way… He’s just about to ask for her phone.
“Wait, you don’t have her phone?” I asked to save the note one more time. “Sorry, probably it’s not my business.”
I return to my job. “It’s kind of cute, so yeah, I’ll go for it.” Joe appears behind a big bouquet licking his lips.
“You think so?” I smile at him, nodding. “By the way, I tried to thank you but well, hmh, I don’t have your phone either.”
“You have it from the florist's.” I said searching for the ribbons. “A color in mind?”
“No, please, I’ll leave you to your choice.” I picked the lavande color, as he stayed quite.
I finished the last touches, set all the flowers, put the note one more time in the envelope and stuck softly to the bouquet, carefully so I don't smash or damage any flower.
“Here you have.” I give him the bouquet smiling proudly, making good progress with my time work.
“Thanks, hm, I guess, I’ll see soon.” He looks kind of confused, like he is missing something.
“Good luck.” I smile at him, his shoulders dropping as he walks to the exit.
My phone lights one, a message from Colin, he gets an A+ in his last exam, after two long weeks of working on the same topic every night.
“Shit.” I run out of the store, after something clicks my head. “JOE!”
Joe is about to get into his car, when he saw me coming out of the store, I reached him as he held his door open.
I told him my phone number, but he doesn’t get it, for the way his eyebrow frowns, making me giggle. “It’s my phone number.”
“Oh.” He takes his cellphone out, taking note this time. “Got it.”
“I’ll leave, I don’t want you to make her wait.” I wink at him. “Have fun!”
“It’s ju…” His words were cut for an old man shouting my name.
Mr. McNeill, one of the spoiled customers Lilian, he every wednesday morning came for a bouquet of roses for his wife, who passed away 3 years ago, after picking up, he goes to her grave to give her flowers.
“Sorry I have to go, but hey, tell me next time how it goes for you.” I said walking backwards. “Bye.”
I ran to reach Mr. McNeill who was holding the door for me with a smile, wearing his classic brown suit.
“A new friend?” He asked as we entered the florist's. “I could swear I have seen him before.”
I laugh with my head backwards. “I bet you do, and yes, it’s a new friend.”
“Another person who will miss you.” I shake my head feeling shy. “That’s cruel.”
“Don’t worry, you’ll have me…” I look at the calendar on the desks. “Another two months.”
Mr. McNeill smiles, taking his wallet from his pockets. “Same as always darling, please.”
I nod walking to the backroom where the bouquet it’s ready, as he observes the flowers spread all over the counter for the just made bouquet.
“Heartsease, huh?” He takes the flowers. “First love, right?”
I nod smiling. “How do you know?”
Mr. McNeill grabs one flower and smells it. “My lovely wife made me learn a lot of the meaning of flowers.”
Both of us smile looking at the flowers. “Well, I’ll leave you, do you mind if I take one?”
“Please.” He took the yellow one, putting on the bouquet. “Perfect.”
Mr. McNeill smiles. “Did you find your first love darling?” His innocent question left me speechless, causing him to chuckle. “It always comes, right to our door.”

Hi hi!! ✨
This is my first short story maybe? That I’ve written and posting! And of course it's about Mr. Burrow himself because good lord 🥵
It is not proof read so this is your warning. If you see anything lmk! I don’t mind constructive criticism.
Go easy on me and hope you enjoy 🫶🏼
Untouchable
Warnings; none
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
I woke up to the feeling of something trailing along the inside of my thighs as I lay there asleep. At first, I don’t realize what it is until I force the sleepy haze aside and concentrate only to put the pieces together. I'm in the hotel room that he rented and It’s his lips pressing against my skin gently just enough so I could feel it and wake up. His hands moved softly up and down my hips to my sides. Slightly massaging the parts he decides to stop at.He finally decides to stay focused on my hips just where the waistband of my underwear lay at and start to pull them down only to be stopped by my hands on top of his.
“And here I thought you had enough last night Burrow” I let a small smile grace my lips
He pops his head up with a smug smile and kisses his way up my body to finally land right next to my lips. Bringing my hands above my head trapped by his holding them down and finally says
“If you’re tapping out sweetheart that’s all you gotta say. Just tell me how you can’t take anymore and need a break” A small laugh bubbles out of me
“Joey please you and I both know we can keep it going but we both have places to be and people to see”
“And none of them are you in this bed dressed like this so I don’t care (y/n/n). He hovers above me with that same smug expression that I’ve grown to love in the past couple of months.
I stare back up at him
“Easy there. You’re starting to sound like you actually might have a crush on me”
He rolls his eyes and lays beside me and I turn to look at him.
“I like having your presence around. There’s nothing wrong with that.” he shrugs.
“Mhm. Just remember the deal okay? I don’t want anyone getting hurt lover boy”
“Don’t you worry your pretty little head sweetheart I’m the last one you need to worry about catching feelings.”
I smile. “Good. Then I’m getting in the shower.”
“Can I join??” He asks as I was shutting the door
“Nope!” I hear his laugh right after
I stand under the shower head letting the hot water ease my muscles. The stress of the past couple of weeks catching up to me after leaving it behind for a few hours last night.
When you’re chasing your dreams you never truly believe everything they say about how you’ll miss the calm and stability you had in your life before you got everything you wanted. I guess that’s where Joe comes in for me. Since really being in the spotlight I never felt more alone and like no one understands. Of course, I love what I do but I just could never imagine how lonely I would feel.
Joe Burrow the QB for the Bengals. We met at a mutuals party one night when I was in town visiting my family and we hit it off. The conversation flowed and we had a lot in common. I felt like I could be myself for once and didn’t have to hold back. Eventually, too many drinks were consumed and we made our way back to his place via Uber because drunk driving? I could never.
We made it up to his room and I made myself comfortable on his bed while he had to go get something. Presumably a condom and finally when he comes back in the room hyped and ready just one look is all it takes to kill his mood. Why you ask?
Well, I would love to answer that question (hint the sarcasm). I had fallen asleep. One of the most embarrassing things I could have done and I did it in front of the Joe burrow. I’ve had a crush on the guy ever since he started playing for the team and I finally get my chance and I go and fuck it up. He made sure to tell me all about it the next day and loves to still bring it up to this day. We’ve since made this a recurring thing whenever we’re both in town or free to fly wherever the other one may be. It’s been easier meeting up with me being on a break but eventually, it’s going to come to an end with me going back to recording this new album.
Just a few months ago I had finished my arena tour and decided to take time off to really take everything in. All the accomplishments I was able to achieve just like I’ve always wanted and of course, I just wanted to take time away to spend with my friends and family. It’s been hard but it’ll be worth it.
“Hey, I need to head out. I’ll see you later though right?” Joe says opening the door not to mention scaring me a little. I almost forgot where I was so lost in my thoughts. I poke my head out while using the shower curtain to keep the rest of my body covered.
“Uh, what’s later?”
“Some of the guys are meeting up at that club. Ya know the new one they just opened a few weeks ago. I was telling you about it last night. “ He comes closer to me jokingly pulling on a string of wet hair. I slap his hand away before saying
“Riiight. I don’t know Joe. Don’t you think it might be weird that we’re there together? You know how the media is not to mention the fans.”
“Why would it be weird unless you make it weird (y/n/n). We’re friends. Nothing wrong with that. Don’t make it a bigger deal than it has to be” He shrugs
“I’m not. But we said when we started this that nobody would know about us hanging out. I think being spotted together at a club of all places will raise a few questions.”
“Listen it’s a new place and we both by coincidence wanted to check it out on the same night. I don’t think it would be all that weird. Just don’t get jealous when you see all the ladies around me yeah?” He lets a smug smile form.
I roll my eyes. Cocky asshole.
“Shut up and get out of my bathroom Burrow. I don’t have time for your games. He lets out a laugh. That sound has quickly become one of my favorite sounds.
“If I recall correctly I paid for this room so therefore it’s my bathroom sweetheart.” He pauses and then continues.
“Just don’t think too much about it alright? Go out with your friends get a couple of drinks and oh look! Quarterback, Joe Borrow is here. He's hot maybe we should go say hi”
“Do you think your head will explode if it gets any bigger?”
“Nah but I’m sure you’d like to think it would.” He leans down and kisses my cheek and starts walking out.
“I’ll see you later sleeping beauty”
“Jerk!” I yell out. You fall asleep once during a hookup and you never live it down. Unbelievable.

Love Me Like I Can // Chapter 2
Chapter 2 // How to Touch a Girl
•warnings: Cursing. Cheating. Sexual Situations. Drinking. Drug use. MINORS DO NOT INTERACT.
The first time Diana woke up the morning after her birthday was actual torture, she was sure. The need to empty her bladder caused her to wake far earlier than she would have liked, early morning light barely making it through the blackout curtains that decorated her bedroom. The redhead carefully disentangled herself from the limbs of her sister and friend and climbed out of bed, grabbing her phone from beside her on the bed. Making her way to the ensuite bathroom, Diana immediately regretted unlocking her device for two reasons. First the dull ache in her head made itself known the second the light hit her eyes in contrast to the dark bathroom. 6:21 AM . Second, was a series of text messages from a number not saved to her phone that she decided could wait before she absolutely exploded. After washing her hands and splashing cold water on her face, Diana braced herself and opened the text thread.
+1(617)-555-1425 9:36 PM you look sooo good in your IG pics 11:15 PM ugh i wish i was with you rn 12:20 AM cmon di. dont be a btich text me back 1:37 AM Ungrateful bitch. 2:39 AM i see. youre out there fuckin with someone new. Thats wh you wont text me back. He’ll just get bored of you like I did. 2:41 AM How long before he starts fucking yor sister
Disappointed that the Boston area code and the content of messages meant the sender was clear, Diana quickly locked her phone and dropped it on the counter. She couldn’t deal with Connor right now. Leaving her phone in the bathroom, Diana crawled back into bed, thankful that she insisted on a “sleepover” last night and wasn’t alone to spiral.
The second time Diana woke up was slightly better than the first. She was alone in bed and her headache eased to a dull thumping, a glass of water on her bedside table. Emptying the glass in one go, Diana searched for her phone. A string of curses rang through her head when she remembered the reason that it was not beside her. After a dramatic sigh, she forced herself out of bed and into the bathroom. She turned on the light, looked in the mirror for the first time that day, and groaned out loud. Light reddish-purple bruises littering her neck and collarbone were visible under the sports bra she was wearing.
Annoyed with herself, Diana picked up her phone and checked the time: 12:12 PM. When she unlocked the device the messages from Connor were still open on the screen. While the reason for his vitriol was now apparent, clues painted on her skin, it didn’t make it justified. ‘It wasn’t like I had sex with Joe,’ she thought, ‘ And even if I had, I’m single and can fuck who I want.
Diana blocked the number but kept the text thread to show Biz later and moved on to check her other notifications, some birthday wishes from people who couldn't make it last night and a missed call from Cathy at 9:30. Diana decided could give her manager a call back later and was replying to all of the messages and comments as she walked into the kitchen of the apartment she shared with her sister.
Biz, who was standing at the stove cooking bacon and French toast, spoke as Diana walked in eyes glued to her phone. “Gooood Morning beautiful, Happy actual birthday,” the younger woman sang in a joking manner. “Taylor left, she had to catch a flight for the awards tonight.” She paused a minute before excitedly saying, “There was a delivery for you this morning.”
Diana looked up at her last statement, confused even more at the smirk on the brunette’s face. “What delivery?”
Biz didn't respond except for pointing her spatula towards the living room, signaling Diana to investigate. Rolling her eyes, Diana did as she was told, walking farther down the hall to figure out what her sister was talking about.
She was not expecting multiple bouquets of roses placed in every nook and cranny they would fit to be decorating the living room. “What the fuck,” she muttered to herself, making her way toward the largest bouquet on the coffee table in the center of the room, silently counting the number of arrangements. Nine.
‘What a strange number,’ she thought as she picked up the card attached to the large bundle of roses, looking out of place on the coffee table next to her TV remote.
Tried to get your number Cathy with no luck. Now who’s curving who? 513-555-6947 JB
Warmth filled Diana’s body as she reread the card for the third time, trying to make sense of it. Pulling up Cathy’s contact information on her phone and pressing call, she turned to see Bizz in the doorway smiling like the Cheshire Cat.
“Soooo… who are those from?” Her tone gave her away, she already read the card.
“Fuck off,” Diana mouthed just as Cathy answered her phone, turning back to the flowers. “Cathy Allred,” the older woman answered cheerfully. “Hey, Cath, this is Di. I was just giving you a call back and wondering if you knew why there were 10 gigantic floral arrangements in my living room?” Diana greeted, attempting to keep her annoyance at her sister out of her voice.
Cathy’s throaty laugh came through the speaker and Di could imagine her expression was the same one that Biz was wearing. “Oh, honey. That handsome football player from last night was leaving messages at the buttcrack of dawn trying to weasel your number out of me. When I told him that I couldn’t clear that without your direct consent, he asked if he could send flowers to our office and have them forwarded to you if security approved the message. We just didn’t expect 9 separate bouquets.”
Diana was in shock. She couldn’t remember the last time she had received flowers unrelated to work.
“Well, uh, thank you, Cathy. That’s all I wanted. I’ll talk to you Wednesday,” Diana ended the phone call, still staring blankly at the literal dozens of roses sitting in her house. “Soooooo,” Biz’s voice came out in her signature sing-songy tone. “Are ya gonna text him?”
Diana bit her lip. “Well, I guess I should, right?”
She could feel her anxiety creeping up in the back of her mind, almost like frost crystallizing on glass in the winter. The first voices of self-doubt were beginning to scream you’re not good enough for him and he’s only going to break your heart when a hand on Diana’s shoulder refocused her.
“You don’t have to do anything you don’t want to do, Di,” Biz’s comforting words filled her ears. “He’s a really hot guy who is into you, so I’d say go for it. Texting him doesn’t mean you’re getting married next month, babe. But you were humping his leg like a dog in heat last night, so it probably would be proper etiquette to at least acknowledge his existence.” As was exiting the room laughing at her own joke as she said the last part. Diana rolled her eyes and thought about her sister’s advice. Joe really was an attractive man and all signs were pointing to him being attracted to her. Their physical chemistry last night had been off the charts and even though they didn’t discuss anything super deep, she was engrossed in the conversation, always wanting to hear what Joe had to say next. She was going to do it, she was going to text him.
She added his number to her phone and began debating how to start the conversation. After drafting and redrafting the generic ‘Hi! It’s Diana” messages for nearly two minutes, she finally settled on one that would let Joe know who she was.
Joe (Quarterback) 12:32 PM you left before saying bye last night, i’d say you’re still curving me.
Phone in hand, Diana made her way toward the smell of brunch. Before she could even make it to the breakfast nook her phone buzzed in her hands signifying she had received a text.
Tee wasn’t feeling great, I had to dash. Let me make it up to you. I’m in NYC until Monday night.
Butterflies filled Diana’s stomach as her eyes scanned the messages she had just received. Joe didn’t leave the party because he was embarrassed by their hookup like her anxiety had been trying to convince her. He had a legitimate reason and he wanted to see her again to make up for it. Before she could let her nerves stop her, she fired off a reply to Joe
i’ll hold you to it. 😜 i’m free all day tomorrow.
Diana didn’t even get a chance to lock her phone before a new message appeared on her screen.
Not anymore. Lunch?
She wasn’t sure if it was nerves or hunger making her stomach turn the way it was, so she decided to load up her plate before responding.
After eating a decent amount of brunch and taking a well-needed shower, Diana was lounging in her bed, Parks and Recreation on in the background, staring at Joe’s texts. So many conflicting thoughts were running through her head about what her response should be. As much as she wanted to see Joe again, she couldn’t shake the feeling of fear. Sure Joe seemed nice, but Connor seemed nice enough at first. She knew her ex had just sent the hateful texts to get under skin, but he knew which blows hit the hardest.
“Biiiiiiz! Come in here!” she shouted from her spot on the bed, in a frustrated squeal.
“What’s the matter?” The brunette questioned, popping her head through the door. “I think I agreed to hang out with Joe tomorrow and I’m scared,” Diana whined, dragging out the vowels in the word ‘scared’.
A snort came from Biz as she made her way fully into the room. “He’s a man, Di, not a monster. Why are you scared?”
Diana knew this was the moment that she should share that Connor had texted her this morning, but for some reason, she couldn’t get the words out of her mouth. Instead, what came out was a pitiful gasp for air that made Biz by surprise.
“Just, what if I’m supposed to be more healed than I am,” Diana breathed, tears in her eyes. “Like, what if Joe turns out to be as good as he seems? Doesn’t he deserve more than this heartbroken version of me? I’m barely myself again, Biz.”
“I think you should at least hang out with him and see where it goes. Worst comes to worst, you guys know you’re physically into each other,” Biz teased. Diana rolled her eyes, “What if he’s expecting to fuck and I’m not ready?” Biz shot her sister a look. “You don’t have to do anything you don’t want to do, Di. But let’s be real, you need to get dicked down. How long has it been?” Diana rolled her eyes again, not wanting to acknowledge she was currently on the longest dry spell she’d ever had. Things in the bedroom aspect of her relationship with Connor never really met her standards, always dissatisfied. The past six months of their relationship had consisted of barely any intimacy, Connor claiming he wasn’t attracted to Diana at the moment. Turns out, he was just getting his needs met by her best friend. “You’re right,” Diana gave in, texting Joe back.
1:26 PM deal, burrow. tomorrow at noon. Italian or Mexican? Shit. Just got word that public restaurants are a no-go. its okay. we can do pizza and sweets at my place
A new fear ran through Diana’s head as soon as she heard the “swoosh” sound from her head. “What if-” Diana was cut off by her sister throwing a pillow at her face. “Shut up,” Biz said in a more serious tone than before. “I get that you’re nervous, but stop coming up with these what-ifs. Smoke about it and attempt to channel your thoughts into something productive.” With that, Biz left the room.
Diana knew her sister was right. Not only did she tend to handle her anxiety better if she was channeling it into something productive, but she was behind on writing. Cathy had told her that the songwriters she was meeting with on Wednesday were expecting the start of at least six new songs and at this point, Diana only had four songs, three of which were fragments.
Lighting a preroll from her bedside table, Diana reached for her notebook, anxiety still at full force. As she hit the joint, she began to scribble down the thoughts that were looping in her head in an attempt to get them to stop.
I know that I’m better than this heartbroken version of me What if he can't compete with the things that I'm scared of that keep love from me? I get so attached and when it ends and the comedown hits I just end up hating me The energy that it takes to be somebody’s somebody just ain’t in me.
After she had stubbed out her joint, the voice of Diana’s anxiety had dulled to a whisper and her mood had lifted considerably. When Diana looked up from her notebook and checked her phone she saw two new messages from Joe.
Awesome. Can’t wait to see you.
What are you up to?
Smiling to herself, her fingers glided across the screen to type out that she was writing, hoping it could turn into a song and returning the question. Joe must have had his phone in hand because within record time her phone was signaling a new message.
Just left lunch with the guys, can I call you?
The butterflies from earlier had returned with a vengeance accompanied by a warm flush taking over her body. Within seconds of replying with an affirmative text, her phone was ringing in her hand indicating she was receiving a FaceTime call from Joe. “Hello,” she greeted hesitantly, internally cringing at her appearance in the camera. Her long hair was still wet from the shower and braided into Dutch braids down the side of her head and she had placed two star pimple patches on her forehead and chin, not expecting to see anyone but Biz. “Hey! You look great,” Joe responded, white smile beaming at Diana. He appeared to be sitting against a hotel headboard, dressed in a black Bengals hoodie.
“No one likes a liar, Joe,” Diana smiled. “Wasn’t expecting a video call.”
“I just needed to make sure you were who you said you were,” Joe countered, smile turning into a playful grin. “Can’t be making plans to hang out with some rando, you know.” Diana rolled her eyes and placed her notebook on her bedside table, the action drawing Joe’s attention. “I’m sure girls are tripping over their own feet to eat lunch with you,” Diana let out a small laugh. “Unfortunately for you, I am myself and you have agreed to hang out with me. Now, if you’ll agree after this time, that’s a question for another day.” “Oh, yeah. What makes you say that?” Joe quirked an eyebrow, a grin still covering his beautiful mouth.
“Well, first of all, we’re getting pineapple on our pizza. Second of all, I planned on finishing my puzzle tomorrow, so you’re now getting roped into that.”
Laughter filled the speakers before Joe’s voice said, “Well, first things first, pineapple on pizza is the right decision… But a puzzle, really? What are you, 73?”
Diana was pleasantly surprised at the ease of carrying on a conversation with Joe. She had assumed that alcohol had lubricated their last interaction, but the way the conversation flowed for the next hour proved that wrong. Joe teasing her for doing puzzles led them to talk about their other hobbies which led to them talking about what started them on their careers.
“Yeah, so I’m hoping to be back by preseason, but there’s no guarantee. I just feel like I’m letting the team and the fans down, y’know,” Joe finished explaining his injury, something Diana had known the bare minimum about before this conversation. Rubbing the back of his neck, he looked to the side. “Sorry to overwhelm you.”
“No, please don’t ever apologize for sharing your emotions, Joe. You can’t hold everything in because you’re afraid of being judged.” Diana’s heart tugged for a moment, imagining how Joe must feel after the season he had last year. She wanted to make sure he knew that she was someone he could share with even if this went nowhere.
“Okay,” Joe nodded, but still changing the subject, “So, what about you? Any new music I get to look forward to?”
Diana rolled her eyes but smiled. Connor was never interested in her career, implying that the music his band made was better and more meaningful. It felt nice to have someone who wasn’t her sister inquire about the progress she was making on her new album. “Actually, I have a few writing sessions over the next few weeks with my label and some producers and start recording some new stuff in March. We’re planning on turning the EP into an extended into a standard album” “Oh, yeah? Do you have a lot of material?” Joe asked, seeming genuinely interested in the answer. “Uh, actually, I didn’t. I’ve been writing a lot recently, though, so hopefully..” Diana trailed off, hoping the heat on her cheeks didn’t show up on Joe’s end of the video call. It was embarrassing enough to admit to herself that she had been more inspired since Joe appeared in her life than she had been in six years, but she’d die if he figured it out.
After a few more minutes of talking, one of Joe’s teammates knocked on his door causing Joe to get off the phone. They had been on the phone for an hour, but Diana was sure she could have talked to him for three more. Diana spent the rest of her night watching the Grammys on her couch. Diana’s team still thought it was best if she stayed home this year as Connor’s band was up for nomination and they wanted to avoid as many headlines about the two as they could. They insisted that Diana stream from home and interact with fans while the awards were happening, which worked out okay in her book. She had fun posting on her Instagram stories rooting for the artist she was friends or a fan of, secretly rejoicing when Bedford Scrolls lost the award they were up for. The fact that she was able to hang out with Joe because she stayed home was definitely, absolutely, not the main reason.
—-----------------------------
If there is one thing that will never change about Diana Hayes, it’s that she’s not a morning person. Or a “before 1 PM” person, really. So when her alarm went off at 10 this morning, she wanted to press snooze with everything in her being. That was until she actually looked at her phone and noticed the text notifications on her home screen. She had the normal business updates in her team group chat, but that wasn’t the one that caught Diana’s attention.
Joe (Quarterback) 7:01 AM Is there a specific dress code today?
A smile crossed Diana’s lips, relieved that he wasn’t canceling on her. Tapping a reply out on her phone, she got out of bed and headed towards her bathroom.
10:02 AM whatever you’re comfortable in. i plan on restarting game of thrones today.
Diana busied herself by turning on her shower and adjusting the water temperature before her phone buzzed on the counter.
Sweats it is.
Good choice on shows. Don’t know if you’ve heard, but I’m King In The North 😉
Diana responded with an eye roll emoji before telling Joe she would see him at noon and entering the shower. She took her time in the shower, excitement bubbling in her stomach at the uncertainty of what the afternoon held. It had been ages since she had been on a first date, if this even was one, she wasn’t sure what protocol was anymore.
An hour and twenty minutes, one pair of shaved legs, and a fight with a hair dryer later Diana was freaking out. Joe would be here in less than an hour and she was regretting everything. He’s going to make fun of me, Diana thought to herself, he’s going to come over, think I’m weird, and then make fun of me to his friends. Adjusting her position on the couch, Diana brought her hands up to pick at her lips, an anxious habit she’d had since a child.
Before her fingers could even make contact with her mouth, Biz’s hand swatted it away, an amused look on her face.
“You told me to stop you from picking!” Biz held up her arms in defense, “I just wanted to remind you to tag the bakery the croissants are from on Insta before I leave.”
Biz was driving back to Philadelphia with Eli for the day, giving Diana and Joe the apartment alone for the day. After Biz made her way out of the door, Diana busied herself taking pictures for her social media posts, starting the first episode of Game of Thrones, and snacking on the sweets that had been delivered while she was in the shower. Before she knew it her phone was ringing, Joe’s name flashing across the screen.
“Hey,” Diana greeted, standing to pace in the living room.
“Hey,” Joe responded, “I’m about to get in the elevator, I just wanted to let you know I’m almost there.”
“Okay. Once you get to the 14th floor, we’re on the right. See you in a minute.”
Moments later, Diana was opening the front door of her apartment, eyes scanning over Joe’s body. He was dressed in a tie-dyed blue and purple, Space Jam crewneck and a pair of gray sweats. She had never understood before when her friends had talked about men in gray sweats, but seeing Joe had shown her the light.
“Hey,” Diana finally found her voice, gesturing for him to walk in the door.
“Hey, again,” Joe joked, making his way past Diana to stand in the entryway. Closing the door, Diana met Joe’s eyes and felt her face heat up.
“So, I have uhm, some pastries and fruit in the living room if you want to go in there. I’m like halfway through the first episode of Game of Thrones if you want to go watch.” Diana’s voice came out quicker than normal, nerves filling the space between the butterflies in her stomach.
Joe shook his head with a grin. “Alright. That sounds great to me.”
The pair made their way past the kitchen and into the living room, Diana waving her arm in the direction of the couch. “Make yourself comfortable. What do you want to drink?”
“Water sounds great, thanks,” Joe answered, walking to the corner of the couch. When she returned, Joe had sat down and was taking in the surroundings of Diana’s living space. The room was the same cream color that most high-end rentals are nowadays, sectional taking up most of the space. A coffee table in front held Diana’s laptop, a plate with croissants, cinnamon rolls, and strawberries, a glass of water, and two of the flower arrangements that Joe sent her the day before. The sectional was up against a full wall picture window, sage green blinds pulled halfway across and faced a flat screen TV that was paused on an image of Daenerys Targaryen walking into a steaming bath.
“I know it’s plain, but we’re only staying here temporarily,” Diana said referring to the room they were in, her presence startling Joe.
“Oh. Planning on moving soon?” Joe inquired, pulling himself deeper into the couch. Diana set the glasses down on the coffee table and sat down next to Joe, leaving about a foot of space between them.
“Kind of? I wanted to stay in New York until the tour starts and then Biz and I were going to look at houses,” Diana said in response, “I don’t necessarily want to settle down in a huge city, but I can’t imagine myself going back to Philly.”
“Did you hate it there or something?” Joe seemed genuinely intrigued about Diana’s plans, which was something that surprised her. She had only really known him for 36 hours and she was ready to tell him everything.
“Only since my dad died,” Diana said, instantly followed with, “Oh my god. That was so depressing. Ignore me.”
“You’re fine. It’s the real reason,” Joe chuckled, “I’ll quit interrogating you.”
The two talked a little more about Joe’s flight back to Cincinnati at 9 and the Grammys that happened the night before, somehow landing on their Game of Thrones opinions.
“I won’t deny that she’s completely batshit insane, yes. But she’s one of the best characters!” Diana said, excitedly of Cersei. “That’s not what you said, you said she was your favorite character,” Joe countered, “Which, if it is true, is wild.”
Diana laughed as she brought her legs onto the couch and crossed them crisscross-applesauce. The space that had previously existed between her and Joe disappeared, her knee pressing into his thigh. Attempting to ignore the heat that was making its way up her neck, Diana leaned forward and grabbed the remote. “Just watch it from my perspective,” she said before pressing play.
The rest of the first episode and the entire second one played while Diana and Joe snacked and gave commentary on what was happening in the show. Between episodes, Diana had readjusted, grabbing a blanket from the back of the couch and draping it over herself. She wasn’t sure when it happened, but sometime around the opening credits of the third episode after she had ordered pizza, she found herself pressed into Joe’s side with his arm wrapped around her shoulder. Within fifteen minutes of that, Diana found herself straddling Joe, hands on either side of his face, lips moving in sync with his. Joe’s right hand found its way to her hair as her lips traveled to the hair on his jawline.
“I like this scruff,” Diana panted between kisses, starting at his chin and making her way back up to the sensitive spot beneath his ear. Joe’s left hand traveled to her waist, reaching under her t-shirt and making contact with her bare skin. “I’ll keep that in mind,” just loud enough for Diana to hear. Diana ground her hips into his lap, feeling him harden beneath her and his hand traveled to her breast, massaging it eagerly.
They continued kissing a moment longer until Joe grabbed hold of Diana and laid her down on the couch. His lips found her neck and he asked, “Is this okay?” as he shifted his weight to not crush the woman below him, his left hand returned to its place under her shirt. “Take this off,” Joe said, gesturing to the material. Diana complied. “Couldn’t be better,” Diana sighed as Joe nipped lightly at her collarbone, tongue following shortly after his teeth.
“I’m sure there’s always room for improvement,” his voice laced with lust and arrogance. Just as Diana was about to ask what he meant, Joe’s hand moved from her breast to the waistband of her sweatpants.
With a nod of Diana’s head, Joe’s hand dipped beneath the waistband of both her sweatpants long fingers gently brushing her clit through her panties. A soft moan left Diana’s lips as she leaned forward to connect her lips to Joe’s again. His fingers teased her, using his thumb and forefinger to play with the material separating him from her core. Lifting her hips hoping Joe would get the hint, she pressed her core firmly against his fingers.
“More,” she breathed. Joe pulled the fabric aside and his fingers were instantly met with the slick wetness of Diana’s arousal. Sliding his middle finger along her slit, he brought it up to her clit and began to rub. Pleasure clouded Diana’s thoughts, Joe’s voice asking her if he could take her pants off barely making it through haze. She lifted her hips and pulled the material down her legs as Joe sat up, tugging his shirt over his head.
Joe stared at her for a moment, taking in the sight in front of him. Laying in only her black lace panties, Diana was too busy enjoying her own view to shy away from the hunger Joe was staring at her with. Joe was clearly a man who took care of his body and it showed. She was in awe.
Before Diana could process the definition of his muscles, Joe had resumed his position next to her, covering her lips with another kiss. Then, without hesitation, he took her left nipple in her mouth. Diana moaned again, arousal red hot between her legs. It wasn’t long until Joe’s mouth began moving downward again, leaving kisses until he got to Diana’s hip bones.
“Can I?” Joe asked, staring up hungrily at Diana. Hesitant, Diana thought it over for a second. She had only received oral three times in her past relationship as her ex had found numerous reasons to avoid the act, most of them criticisms of Diana. Everything from she was unattractive to she was too picky when it came to the way he did it. Trying to shake thoughts of her ex from her head, Diana reassured herself that every signal Joe had given her had proved he wanted to do this. Finally, she nodded her head.
Wasting no time after getting her consent, Joe placed his lips around Diana’s clit and began sucking. Instinctively, her hips bucked into him, eager for more pleasure. Diana felt Joe smile into her skin, then a finger slid into her while he continued to suck and lick at her. After some movement, Joe added another finger, pausing a moment to help her get used to the width.
Diana tried to clear her mind, looking down at the man between her legs. His fingers were moving inside of her, curling to hit a spot inside of her that she seemed rather receptive to the first time he hit it. A warm tension was pooling in the pit of her stomach as she tried to clear any insecurities from her mind. “Fuck..” Joe’s mouth drew another slow moan out of Diana’s mouth. She leaned forward, propping herself up on her elbows. “As amazing as this feels- fuck. I don’t think that I’ll be able to- holy shit!- finish this way.” Joe pulled his face away from her core, licking his lips and shaking his head. “I think you underestimate my determination,” he stated. Not breaking eye contact, he dipped his head back down and placed another kiss on her clit and added another finger to the ones busy between her folds.
Joe’s hands and mouth continued in unison to work their magic until moments later when tension in her core began to build towards a peak and her body convulsed. She brought her hand to her mouth and bit down lightly as Joe’s teeth lightly grazed her clit. He used his free hand to rest against her hip bones, trying to hold her in place so he could help bring her to climax. Releasing her clit from his mouth, began to move his fingers with more purpose, trying to match the pace that Diana was trying to set.
“Fuck. Fuck! Joe, I think I’m going to-” Diana was cut off by her orgasm. Joe continued to pump his fingers into her as he peppered kisses on her forehead. Warmth radiated through her body, starting at her core and rippling from her head to her toes. “That’s right, baby. Just let it happen,” he encouraged as Diana let herself give in to the sensation.
Taking a deep breath and opening her eyes, Diana was staring into Joe’s blue eyes. “Thank you. I promise you did not need to do that” Diana whispered, trying not to let her nerves get the best of her. “I didn’t have to, I wanted to,” his response helped ease her worries. “Besides, I didn’t want to not live up to what was advertised,” he joked, referencing the interview Ja’Marr had given. Just then, the doorbell rang indicating that the pizza they delivered had arrived.
An hour later, Joe and Diana had devoured an entire pizza and had spent the entire time deep in conversation. Trying to avoid bringing up what just happened, Diana kept the topics focused on friends and growing up. She learned about Joe’s parents and his brothers and heard what it was like to grow up in a relatively small town in Ohio, while she told Joe about how she grew up in Philadelphia, her mom leaving before she turned 10, and her dad passing away a few years ago. It felt almost relieving to have someone ask questions about the things she actually cared about.
It wasn’t long before Joe’s phone started ringing from its spot on the coffee table. Joe stood up and walked out of the room to take the call. It was a quarter till six, meaning that Joe’s flight left in less than 5 hours. Diana’s head began swimming with contradicting thoughts, sad that he had to leave soon and fear of what that meant.
When Joe ended the call, he walked back into the room, looking at his phone. “Apparently, I should leave in no more than ten minutes to make it back in time to pack for our flight. I guess I should leave” Joe looked just as conflicted as Diana felt. “Will I get to see you again?”
Diana felt her heart start beating harder than it ever had. This man was a fucking dream. “Yeah, that’d be cool. I’d like that,” Diana nodded, walking Joe to the door.
“Cool. I had a really good time today,” a smile covered Joe’s face when Diana turned a deep red. “I’m willing to repeat it anytime,” he said with a wink.
Diana shoved Joe slightly, arriving at the front door. Joe engulfed her in a hug, placing a kiss on the crown of her head.
“But seriously, I would like to hang out again. I’ll text you, okay?” He was looking down at her now, smirk still on his face
With a nod, Diana pushed herself onto her tiptoes to kiss him goodbye. Making sure she locked the door behind him, she raced to her phone to send her sister a text.
Sending the message, Diana couldn’t help to smile to herself. She wasn’t quite sure what she wanted from this relationship with Joe, but she knew for sure she wanted more of it.

Lover: Chapter II
Authors Note: Hi guys this is chapter two to Lover if you didn't already go read the first part if you want 💗.
Warnings: fluff, LSU Joe, Smut, Spitting into mouth, I can't think of anything else.
Word Count: 1.9k
The Next Morning:
Joe wakes up the next morning, he checks his phone and receives a text from you.
He reads the text, good morning Joe...face time?, the text reads.
Joe's heart skips a beat as he sees your message, good morning , he text back with a grin on his face, face time sounds great, he text you before he taps the face time call button and awaits your answer, his excitement growing to see you with each passing second.
You answer, when you answer you are in your small bathroom in your dorm room curling your hair. "Heyyy", you say with excitement.
"Hey", he says with a warm smile. "You look beautiful this morning", he takes in the sight of you curling your hair, his gaze lingering on your beautiful face.
"You don't look half bad yourself", you say with a smile.
He laughs slightly, running his hand through his hair. "So, what are your plans for today."
"Hold that thought do you mind giving an opinion on an outfit." you smile.
"Sure," he says with a grin. "I'd be happy to help". He waits patiently as you go through your outfit choices, offering suggestions and compliments when prompted.
"So I was thinking either this blue flowy crop top with light blue ripped jeans or this orange crop top and dark blue ripped jeans".
"I think both outfits would look amazing on you, but since I have to choose...I think the blue crop top and the light blue jeans they just seem to compliment your hair better." He says with a big smile on his face.
"Aw thank you so much for helping Joey." you say.
"No problem," he says with a smile.
"What time is your practice at today," you say.
"Practice starts at 2 PM...I could pick you up after if you would like."
"How about you pick me up after practice and then we could go on our first date," you say with a smile.
"That sounds perfect," he says with a grin. "I'll see you after practice then." He gives you one last smile before hanging up the phone and heading to start getting ready himself.
After practice
As the practice draws to a close and he showers, Joe's heart beats just slightly faster with anticipation due to the excitement of going on a date with you.
He gets into his car and gets a text from you that reads, I am at this restaurant downtown i'll send you the location if you wanna meet here.
Sure, he replies.
He gets the location and text you that he will be there shortly.
15 minutes later
Joe arrives at the restaurant. He steps out of his car and fixes his shirt before stepping into the restaurant. He scans the restaurant searching for her familiar face.
You see him looking for you and do a small wave at him trying to catch his attention.
Spotting you waving at him, he walks confidently over to the table trying not to let his nerves show. As he approaches he says. "You look beautiful."
"Aw, thank you." you say blushing.
"So Joe...I was wondering if this date goes well if maybe you would like to be my boyfriend.' You pause before continuing. "I know it is a little soon but you seem really sweet Joe."
Joe's heart skips a beat at her question and he looks into her eyes searching for any signs of hesitation or doubt. Finding none, he smiles and leans in a bit closer to you. "We could give it a try I would love to be able to call you my girlfriend." He says with a smile on his face.
"You're beautiful," Joe whispers softly.
"Joe...you are so sweet," You say back to him.
"I'm just being honest," he replies with a smile. "I mean every word I say to you," He gently rubs her hand which is sitting on the table.
You guys finish up diner doing typical first date things like learning more about each other.
After Diner
"So do you maybe wanna meet up at my dorm. My roommate still hasn't gotten here yet so it is only me currently," You say.
"Of course," Joe respondes with a smile. "I'd like that very much." He takes her hand in his and squeezes it lightly as they head out of the restaurant and head to their respective cars.
"Alright bye be careful, just follow me okay," You say getting in her car.
At her dorm
They both enter your dorm "You can spend the night if you want since my roommate isn't here yet," You say with a soft smile.
The offer catches him off guard but in a good way. His heart pounds in excitement at the possibility of spending the night together. "That would be great," he manages to say, trying to calm his nerves. "Thank you."
"No problem," You say in response.
As they settle into the room, their connection growing stronger with every passing moment. They talk about their day, share laughs and secrets, and eventually find themselves lost in each other's eyes once more. (Authors note: sorry that was probably cringey)
"Is it alright if I kiss you," You say softly.
He nods yes and you lean in and start kissing him which quickly turns into a make out session.
As they tangle together in a heated embrace, Joe can feel himself losing control. His heart beats rapidly against his chest, every fiber of his being yearning for more. He deepens the kiss, losing himself in the sensation of her lips against his own.
As the passionate kiss intensifies, Joe's mind drifts back to the previous night. The memory of your moans and gasps echo in his ears, fueling his desire even further.
Feeling your body pressed against his, Joe's hands wander up her back and into your hair. He pulls away slightly to catch his breath but doesn't break their connection. His eyes search yours for any sign of hesitation or doubt before he leans in once more, hungry for more.
"I can tell you want something more Joe," You say smirking.
Joe's heart skips a beat at her words. "You have no idea," he whispers back, his voice barely above a whisper. He deepens their kiss once more, his tongue dancing with hers in a slow, sensual rhythm that sends shivers down his spine.
"Tell me what you want," You say seductively.
Breaking the kiss, Joe looks deeply into her eyes. His heart is pounding in his chest, and he can feel his blood pulsing through his veins. "I want you," he says softly, his voice filled with raw emotion. "I want you so fucking bad."
Hearing his confession, yourr eyes widen slightly before you lean in and kisses him again. This time, it's different—more intense than before. Their tongues dance together as they explore each other's mouths with newfound passion and desire.
"Do you wanna have sex?" You ask seductively.
As their kiss breaks once more, Joe looks deeply into her eyes. "Yes," he whispers back, his voice trembling slightly with anticipation. "I want to make love to you."
You both quickly strip down to being naked.
His heart is racing now, and he can feel himself growing hard with anticipation. He reaches out to touch you, running his fingers lightly over your stomach before trailing lower down her body.
You let out a low moan at his touch.
Feeling you moan beneath his touch, Joe's control begins to slip further. He kisses you deeply again, your tongues tangling together in a heated dance as he continues his exploration. His hands slide up her thighs, feeling the smooth skin beneath his fingertips.
"I can't wait any longer Joe." You say softly.
With one final look into her eyes, Joe gives in to the passion that's been building between you guys. He slides inside of you, feeling your tightness engulf him.
"Oh fuck," you moan so loudly that your neighbors could probably hear you but you don't care.
As he begins to move inside you, Joe's world narrows down to the feeling of their bodies connecting. He groans softly against yourr lips, his eyes closed tightly as he tries to maintain control.
With each thrust, Joe hits a new spot inside you that sends shivers down his spine. He picks up the pace, losing himself in the rhythm of their lovemaking. His hands move to grasp your hips tightly, pulling you closer as he drives deeper into you.
As yourr bodies collide, Joe's breathing becomes ragged. He can feel the heat building between them, and he knows you guys are getting close. With one final push, he buries himself inside her, feeling her walls clench around him.
"Faster," you moan loudly.
Feeling the urgency in your voice, Joe picks up the pace even more. His movements become erratic as he tries to find that perfect spot inside you again and again. Sweat begins to bead on his forehead as he loses himself in their passionate union once more.
You stick out your tongue insinuating that you want him to spit in your mouth.
His eyes widen slightly at this unexpected request but without hesitation, he complies, spitting into your mouth. It's messy and taboo, but he can feel the desire burning in both of them, and he can't resist giving in to it.
You swallow his spit while looking into his eyes.
"I am gonna cum Joe!" You moan loudly.
Joe's thrusts become even faster and deeper. He wants to feel your orgasm as much as he wants to releaseas well. "Cum for me," he groans, his voice hoarse with desire.
You release around his cock "Are you close, if you are let me suck you I want to taste your cum." You say breathlessly.
Feeling your walls tighten around him, Joe knows he's close. "Yes," he pants, his body trembling with the effort to hold back. He pulls out of her and you get on your knees and starts taking him in your mouth.
"Come on Joe cum in my mouth." You say between sucks.
Joe's hips buck as he releases inside your mouth, filling it with his hot seed. The sensation of yourr warmth and the suction around his cock send him spiraling into bliss. "Fuck, that feels good,"
You swallow every last drop of his cum while starting into his eyes.
As he feels his climax begin to subside, Joe looks down at you with a mix of pride and satisfaction. You both collapse onto the, their sweaty bodies pressed together as they catch their breath.
You kiss his forehead sweetly.
"That was...damn," he pants, a slight blush creeping onto his cheeks. He nuzzles his face against yours, their hearts still pounding in unison.
You kiss him on the lips. "You are amazing Joe." You say smiling.
Joe blushes even deeper at her praise, his heart swelling with love. He returns the kiss, his mouth warm and tender against hers. They lie there in each other's arms, basking in the afterglow of their shared passion.
"So are you staying overnight." You ask softly.
"If that's alright with you," he murmurs sleepily against your skin. He nuzzles closer, already feeling the comfort of your embrace seeping into his bones.
"Oh it is definitely alright." You say as you move to lay onto his chest.
Smiling softly, Joe drifts off to sleep with your warmth surrounding him.

OPIUM POPPY
Masterlist
This is nuts, I never in my whole life have I’ve seen so many pumpkins in a short period of time, I mean in 15 minutes.
I totally forgot the first week of October Lilian receives like every year a full load of pumpkins from a local farm, for sale on halloween. It was until early morning a big truck parked in front of the florist’s full of pumpkins.
“The back room is full, I think we should put it here.” Gael said, coming out of the room full of orange fruits. “Don’t worry, it's normal, relax.”
I nod as I keep signing the paper of receipt; between the bouquets, pumpkins start to take place.
The sound of the door makes me realize that yes, customers will be coming along with the pumpkins.
“Hi, I’ll be there in a pumpkin.” The scoff of Gael makes me correct myself. “In a second, I’ll be with you in a second.”
“This will be over in four days.” Gael jokes with me walking around the place trying to put in order all the pumpkins.
“Days?!” Gael carried another pumpkin to the back room.
“So, all are here.” I get down my head trying to figure out who four days can become, at least in two.
“Everybody here knows, huh?” The soft giggles sound familiar now, turning around I see Joe arm cross but with a smile.
“Lilian let us know a few days earlier pumpkins are coming.” I curse underneath seeing the last pumpkin enter the florist’s.
Gael greeted Joe in total calm with a bouquet in his hands. Mental note, asking him why he didn’t say anything the first few days I was here about Joe.
“This is about to be smashed, where do you want it?” A small opium poppy bouquet is safe in his hands, I was working on that before the pumpkin rain interrupted.
I looked around beside the bouquets in their places, it wasn’t any empty spot.
“I’ll take it.” Joe answered by taking the bouquet looking around to the orange room. “And my pumpkins.”
Making Gael and I laugh. “Are you leaving my heartsease?” This time Joe laughs so hard.
“Just for a while.” I chuckle taking the bow to put the ribbon around it, meanwhile Gael takes the 5 big pumpkins to Joe’s car.
“I haven’t seen you in days, you get the number?” This time I chose a yellow ribbon.
Joe clears his throat and a big smile appears on his face, good news. “I did.”
“And?” I give it to him one more time, but he licks his lips. “No way! You haven’t texted her, right?”
“It’s not that easy. What could I tell her?” Joe complains, raising his shoulders.
I cross my arms. “Who could tell? Joe Burrow it’s a shy guy after all.” The loud bump of Gael's arm distracts us for a second.
“I’m fine! I don’t see the wall.” Joe and I laughed seeing Gael carrying the last pumpkin.
I think for a second when Collin's message gives an idea. “What about if you tell her about your day?”
Joe scoffs seeing the flowers. “My day?”
“Hey! If you tell her, maybe she will tell you about hers. I bet you don’t have a boring life.” Joe laughs softly as he puts his hands on his waist. “I don’t know, the good one on this it’s Lilian, you should have asked her when she was here.”
One more time the door opens, this time the Hunter twins arrive with big eyes running when they see the pumpkin ocean.
“Mom, it’s time!” Mrs. Hunter smiles knowing that maybe her shop of flowers will turn in a car full of pumpkins.
“I’ll leave you, thanks for the advice.” Joe jokes as we walk to the exit. “I’ll send you a photo after I finish my work of art.”
He points to the 5 big pumpkins in his car. “I count on that.”
It was a long day, a lot of pumpkins are still around, it seems we barely reached clean the front of the florist’s. Gael came from the back room tired as I was ready to go home.
“Do you need help tomorrow for the small ones?” I choke with my sip of water.
“Small ones?!” Gael jokes and explains to me, the first day the big pumpkins arrived and the next the small ones, less than big ones. “Omg!”
“I’ll come tomorrow morning, have a good night boss.” Gael said, walking with his backpack to the exit as he picked his big pumpkin.
On my way to Lilian’s apartment a message from a strange number appears on the screen. Joe sent a photo of one of his big pumpkins, a scary face on it, set in his front door.
I thought if with the frequency of his messages increasing I’ll probably not see him so much, to be honest it’s way much easier, order flowers than come to pick it up, but no; his 3 day visit continues with the same excitement as always.
“Ok, ok, wait for a second.” I stretch my arms and hands.
When Lilian knows that I have a local full of pumpkins and there aren't any of them on our door, she calls every morning, afternoon and night until I agree I’ll try my best to put at least one.
In all my life, yes, I decorated pumpkins but my mom and dad, even Collin, are in charge of taking out all the pulp and giving it a proper form, until today.
Reason why, I’ll call my dad early this morning to guide me through this.
“We’re almost there honey, just one eye and a nose and it will be over.” Dad had his cup of coffee next to him as he finished his third pumpkin.
“I 100% prefer painting them.” After a week, the florist’s is empty of pumpkins, with halloween in 3 days, you start to see kids with costumes from early hours.
One more hour and I finally finished one pumpkin. “We can start the other when you feel ready.”
I shake my head taking out the gloves as I scoff. “Lilian said one, there is one.”
Dad laughs as he smiles softly at me. “One kid far away and the other ready to go.”
Lately with me away from home and Collin next to do it too, our parents turn into really sentimental people.
The sound of the door announced the first customer of the day. “I have to go, thanks dad.”
He smiles waving his hand before hanging out.
I found Joe with his bag in his hand and sunglasses on, making me smile. The Bengals have a game in Las Vegas.
“You know, there are barely a few sunlights.” He laughs as I point to his sunglasses. “I guess you’re leaving early, huh?”
Joe nods. “We do. And you’re covered in orange.” I look down at a lot of pumpkin on me.
“I just made horrible things to a pumpkin.” He laughs as he is searching for something in his bag. “I sadly guess, there is no bouquet today, huh?”
“I’m afraid don’t but…” He smiled when he found it in his bag. “Here.”
A small pumpkin painted in gray an black, it’s squidward.
“Oh my God! This is amazing.” I observed utterly fascinate.
“It’s for you.” My brain stops working for more than a second. “You said you need one, so, I’ll hope it works.”
I feel so flattered for a pumpkin. “Whoa, hm, thank you, thank you so much.” Joe smiles grow bigger after seeing me smiling.
“Well, mhm I have to go, I’ll see you when I come back.” I nod unable to say another word as he walks out of the place.
Until I see an orange opium poppy on the desk. “Joe!” He stops outside of the florist’s; with a tremble on my hands I give him the flower. “Who dey.”
Joe chuckles and I could swear I see him blushing.
Halloween approached in a blink of an eye, suddenly it's Halloween morning; people with costumes since the very first hours of the morning, kids running all over the streets excited for the night and another just with a small item of Halloween in their clothes.
“In your house?!” Gael screamed from the backroom, he just arrived. “You can come with me.”
I chuckled as I took a last review to the orders of the day. “Take your boss to a Halloween party? No, I will pass.”
Since yesterday night when I told him I'll be resting at home on Halloween night he keeps complaining that I should go to a bar for a drink instead of spending the night in Lilian's house.
“Besides I have candies to give, a lot of them.” I bought a lot of bags of candy. If I plan to be at home, kids will be coming too.
Gael came out with a few flowers for a bouquet. “At least do a proper horror movie marathon.”
“Count with that.” I pat his arm. “It's all right, I'm exhausted after all, don't forget this is all new for me.”
Gale bluffs as a customer gets inside picking up the first bouquet of the day.
The day passed with more movement than I expected. After midday, kids started rushing asking for “trick or treat”, people looking for bouquets and another for a specific type of flowers for their costumes.
Gael leaves earlier, he has a party to go and the night is here.
“OH MY FUCKING GOD!” I jumped and screamed as I turned around finding a big mask of an alien.
Joe takes out the mask giggling. “Happy Halloween!”
With my hand on my chest I shake my head. “What are you doing here? You should be with your girl at a party or something like that.”
Joe blushes, repeating the same words. <My girl.> “She has to work, so she will probably be tired, I don't want to rush anything.”
I smile proudly. “Whoa, I'm gladly surprised, how thoughtful. Still you have a party right?”
He has a mask and a strange UFO suit. After a big win, they came back that same night. Joe told me some of the guys want to be here to spend Halloween with their families.
“I do, one of the guys is making one.” Joe looks around his eyes and stops in the small pumpkin on the desk smiling.
“Hey, great game. I heard you crushed the other team.” I said looking for a ribbon for the last bouquet of the day.
“You heard? You didn’t watch it?” His disbelieving tone made me close my eyes and smile.
“You played the same hour as San Francisco. I can't help it.” I put the ribbon when I lifted my eyes; Joe is biting his lip kind of indecisive. “Are you ok?”
“You know, there is a big divisional game next week…” He lifts his head rubbing his neck.
“Yeah, the Steelers.” I nod fitting for not blushing like a tomato in front of him, the uncountable times I see the videos and pictures of this now so vividly in front of me.
“YES!” He clears his throat. “And… San Francisco has his bye week.”
Never fails to make me laugh. “I know.”
“What about if you watch it?” Joe asks but his eyes are closed.
“Yeah, sure.” His eyes open right away, looking for something in his jacket.
“In the Stadium.” It's two tickets for Sunday's game.
I take them, opening my eyes so big. “Are you joking?” Clearly exciting for the invitation. Looking in detail it's first row tickets. “No way!”
“I mean you could bring someone if you want.” It's hard to contain the thrill even when he knows the only person I could bring is Gael.
“So funny.” I look at the tickets then at him who has a soft smile. “I'll go, count on that!”
Joe was about to speak but my excitement came with a big hug. “Thanks Joe.”
He tense for a moment but a second later, I feel his arms around me in a warm hug.
“Is there a chance I will meet the mysterious girl?” I asked, slipping apart.
Joe cheeks turned red and whispers almost inaudible, and I’m not sure if I could hear. “I think you already did.”
My phone started to sound, Collin is calling.
“Sorry, it's my brother I have to pick up.” Joe shakes his head, taking his mask.
“I have to go too. I'll see you in the week before the game, ok?” Joe almost crashed into the wall of the entrance.
“Careful.” He smiles in a shy way. “I'll be here, believe me.” He nods, walking out with a fist tight.
I didn’t have to ask Gael twice to come with me, still he gives the same friendly recommendation. “Making friends outside of the florist's it’s a good option.”
Late at night the day before the game I received the call from Lilian, with good news, if things go as planned they’ll be here the second week of december.
“That’s great!” Lilian laughs. “I mean, I'm having a great time here but you know, I'm happy for you…”
“And…” She asked as she kept preparing her clothes for breakfast with Jason’s friends.
“Well, I don’t mind being less involved in hand work.” Meanwhile I was taking out my shopping from this afternoon.
“I bet a lot of pe…” She stops everything and looks right to me. “Hold on, hold on, what do you have there?”
I see the last things I take out, a bag of chips, a scarf and a beanie. “What?”
“The black, orange beanie.” She points at the camera like she knows where I put it.
“Oh, this.” I raise the beanie, the beanie has a orage-white nine on the middle of it. “Right, I forgot to tell you, Joe invited me to the game, tomorrow's game.”
I'm aware of the corners of my lips going up.
“Right.” Lilian has a title head and narrow eyes, like I have something more to tell. “Are you going with h…”
“God! Lilian you’re making this awkward, I’ll invite Gael to come with me; Joe just invited me and gave me the tickets.” I shiver at her mind making a whole story that fast.
“Sorry! You put all the things for me to start to make my own theories.” She looks more relieved going back to her task.
“He has a girl he likes! OMG! We've been talking about that!” I stand walking to the kitchen to make dinner.
“I know! But… I thought that girl might be you!” I heard Jason asking if everything was alright, he heard the screams. “Fine, Y/N and I we’re having a talk.”
I giggle, imagining Jason nod as he comes out slowly for the bedroom, he has seen and heard our talks so he knows we tend to raise our voices.
“See, even you scare Jason.” I chuckle seeing her face turning red. “Whatever I have to go.”
Lilian nods, taking her phone so she can whisper something. “Have fun with…”
I hang out laughing at how imaginative she could be most of the time.
Sunday morning, I found Gael waiting for me one hour before the game started. Honestly I wouldn't mind coming on time, either I don’t mind seeing Joe a little bit more.
“All I’m saying is these are pretty good seats.” I followed Gael through the corridors of the stadium until we came out. “See, just behind the touchdown line.”
Our seats were a few distance from the middle of the touchdown line, having an amazing view of the field, and soon of the game. On the field the players from both teams are finishing their warm ups, going to the locker room and getting ready for the ceremony.
“You know what would be crazy?” Gael said as we sat marveling at the view we had. “They walk right for that hallway.” He points to the big entrance a few meters from us.
I scoff taking a picture for sending to Collin who I bet will burn for this. “Wait, I thought you had already come to a game before.”
Gael nods. “But not this close. These seats at this time of the season are expensive.”
His words trigger something on my mind. “Joe has a box here, right?” He nods and points to where it’s.
Even from a distance I see a few people there and I keep wondering if the mysterious girl is here too. I am dying to meet her.
“You think you can get us a pass for that?” He raises and lowers his eyebrows making me laugh.
My words get stuck when I see Joe walking to the other side of the field, he finishes his warm ups, fully concentrates; takes a few minutes to sing and greet the fans near that zone.
“Damn it! So close.” I chuckle, Gael complains like he didn’t see him at least once at time in the store.
A balling game, what you heard it could be a game of few points turn on the ball coming on going to the other side of the field.
Related to the ideas of Lilian still lingering on my head I almost could swear that in a touchdown Joe approached way too much to zone where we are.
By the end of the game, Bengals win for a touchdown; we remain until the last players left the field, waving our hands to Joe who left after answering some questions.
On our way to take a bus, I received a text from Joe; he asked if I could bring a bouquet of opium puppies in an hour when all the duties of the game ended.
Gael offers to come with me to the florist’s and go back with me but it’s Sunday, I’ll be able to handle this.
“What does it mean?” Gael asked me to give him the last flower. “The flower.”
“Peace and hope.” He nods. “Why?”
Gael opened his mouth but closed it again. “Nothing, it’s just… Nevermind, my tricky mind.”
“Are you sure?” I put the bow in the middle.
He nods. “You think you’ll meet the girl today?” Gael asked, sitting on the chair.
I don’t know who's more excited, him or me. “I’m counting on that.”
Joe gave indications for which part of the stadium I must get in, so I just followed instructions when I found a girl at the door, just like he said.
“Hi, I…” The girl smiles at me like she found a treasure.
“Y/N, right?” I nod and extend the bouquet to give it to her but she shakes her head. “Oh, no, Joe asked us to let you come, this way please.”
I follow her seeing players coming out tired but clearly excited for going home with their families and a home win.
“Wait, wait.” A big guy stops us looking at me with narrow eyes. “Cute girl, with flowers and… “ His eyes turn wide open. “Y/N?”
I take a step back, surprised by he actually knows my name, the girl giggles but doesn't say another word.
Ja’mar who was walking behind him, eyes on his phone, stops when he hears my name.
“Y/N?” He looks at the bow on my hands. “Please don’t tell me my man makes you bring this.”
“Am, yeah?” Chase shakes his head, making me more confused than I was a second ago.
“Why are so many…” A new guy appears with a bag on his hands, when he sees me, like the two other guys he smiles. “You came here with flowers?”
I nod. “Yeah, Joe asked me this.” I innocent question couldn’t be harmful right? “You know the girl right?” All look at me with a choke head. “The girl who Joe likes?”
My excitement left them speechless and confused. “Don’t you?” Chase asked with open eyes.
“How could I know her?!” I throw my head back frustrated. “Joe just came for flowers and…”
The disbelieving expressions, and tender smiles bring memories to my mind; the unusual visits, the texts and photos, the eyes and smiles. Drain the blood of my brain.
“He gave you a pumpkin of Squidward?” The strength on my fingers faded away making the bouquet fall off my hands.
“Oh my…” My phone starts to sound, with trembling hands I take out of my pocket finding the name of Joe on the screen.
Unable to pick up, my brain starts to work as fast as it can, when I lift my eyes, my heart stops for a second.
Joe was walking outside, with comfy clothes as his eyes are on his phone and in his hands a beanie. My phone rang one more time, he heard it lifting his eyes and found me surrendered by big guys, a bouquet on my feet and I swear pale as a ghost.
“You...”
