"In India cricket Isn't a sport, it's a religion."
A very anticipated tournament the cricket world cup which was back after 4 years with a hope of indian victory started in October 2023, this time it was even more special as india was the host country and the excitement was unparalleled
Tumblr media
Indian team had their first clash with arch rivals the mighty austrailians, after a sense of collapse india secured comfortable victory over kangaroos, courtesy virat kohli and k l rahul, That match was not just a match but a statement of hunger for winning the cup, since that match indian team kept on showing their dominance in indian conditions and with the likes of rohit sharma, jasprit bumrah, hardik pandya, mohammad shami, ravindra jadeja, kuldeep yadav and GOAT Virat kohli the team was looking invincible and on the other hand australia was unfortunately on a losing trot.
Tumblr media
Eventually the 5 times champions bounced back as what they known for and had a memorable victory over Afghanistan in a neck to neck game, glenn maxwell the big show stood for the team with an injured leg and played the greatest knock in ODI history and took the team over the mark. after this australia won consecutive matches and sealed their semi final spot. India won the semi final against new zealand and reached in the final and on the other hand australia outshined south africa in a close encounter.
19th of november, the stage was set an opening ceremony of air force showdown set the tone of the evening, india was the most probable contender to win the final as of the red hot form they were carrying and were yet to lose a single match in the whole tournament along with Virat kohli scoring most runs in the tournament and Mohammed shami picking up most wickets in the championship, australia won the toss amd decided to bowl first, india started on with their powerful batting approach and an positive intent but after the wicket of rohit sharma responsibility of virat kohli on the crease was increased yet he delivered with a crucial 52 runs knock but after his wicket a big collapse in the batting lineup was seen and they ended up scoring 240 in 50 overs, Australian batters with a edgy start lost 2 early wickets but after that the partnership between travis head and marnus labuchagne took the match away from the hands of india, AUSTRALIA WON THE WORLD CUP BY 6 WICKETS, all there left for india was tears in the eyes of the players and so in the fans and since then 19th november is a nightmare for every indian cricket fan.

As you said, in response to a previous ask, the younger alphas would be less prone to sledging omegas, but actually all of the alphas named in that ask have had at least one fight with VK over the years 😂😂😂😂😂
VK sledged Jonny absolutely unprovoked in an England game, probably during 2021/22, which backfired like a bitch for us because Jonny went on to score a century in that game. 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ Sorry VK, I love you and your feistiness, but you should have kept your mouth shut here.
VK and Jimmy have had so many sledging episodes honestly! The most recent one came in the 2022 series, when VK absolutely went for Jimmy while standing at the non-striker's end. Kept telling Jimmy that he was an old man (😭😂), and that it wasn't his backyard (they were playing at Lords 😭). Although if VK is to be believed, Jimmy had started the verbals, first by swearing at Jasprit Bumrah while facing an over from him during England's batting, and then, apparently by calling VK "a f*cking pr*ck" for running on the pitch. VK said as much.
VK and Ben have also been involved in a verbal duel, again in the 2021 series. According to VK, this started because Ben was sledging Siraj, and VK leapt to his defence, and got all up in Ben's face, pointing fingers and what not. After being separated by the umpires, VK encouraged Rishabh to continue sledging Ben from behind the stumps. This particular encounter is very interesting to me, because I headcanon all of VK, Siraj and Rishabh as omegas and Ben as an alpha. 🫣🤭 So if Ben was really going at Siraj....
Again, during the 2021 series, this time during the T20 leg of the tour, VK and Jos had a bit of a confrontation after Jos' wicket. Jos was walking towards the pavilion, and VK decided he had to give him an animated send-off 🙄 which obvio didn't sit well with Butler. The two of them had some back and forth but the umpires intervened before it could go any further.
VK again had a go at Ollie Robinson during the same series, when the latter had come out to bat, and called him a big mouth. Also damn VK, honey, what had gotten into you during this series? Sledging English players left, right and centre like that! 🤣🤣🤣
Honestly, it looks to me like it was VK who started sledging the alphas here and they retaliated after receiving a barrage of expletives, not the other way round. Think VK has gotten so used to the older alphas sledging him and the verbal volleys motivating him to perform well, that when the alphas don't initiate the banter, he initiates it himself, because a) it gives him the kick he needs to perform well and b) it distracts the opposition as well.
The whole VK fighting alphas on the pitch things really does track in overse because he's always, and I mean always, felt and feeling he's fighting for his place, being the trailblazer to bring other omegas into the game. He's constantly fighting to be seen as more than 'the little omega that could' - he wants to be seen as a great player, not an outstanding omega.
He'll fight this one until he's blue in the face, and he'll defend any omega (or probably otherwise) who he feels is being put down in the same way.
One day, they'll sledge him because he's the best player and they want him off the pitch, and the o-word won't come anywhere near the field. That's what he hopes, anyway.

The Kiwiman Daryl Mitchell is gonna be the most crucial player for CSK tonight, he's gonna dictate the terms, the fate of CSK in the game tonight. Replacing a stalwart like Ambati Rayudu at CSK is very tough, he's been a true legend of the league and to fill in the big shoes, he's the most suitable candidate because he bats in the middle order and plays spin, pace both equally well, has the timing game as well as the power game to hit effortless sixes down the ground. The potential is there, the performance has also been there for the Blackcaps. Now it's high time tonight to start replicating those in the CSK colours and repay the huge faith shown towards him, the continuous backing has to reap the Rewards tonight onwards. If he doesn't get going, CSK can't win on flat decks and shouldn't dream of clinching the record sixth title they're running running after. The bowling is the weaker side, and with the uncertainty over the availability of Pathirana, it's evident that you've to score 230+ at least at the Wankhede against this destructive MI batting lineup and Mitchell holds the key for CSK if they wanna reach that score and compete neck to neck, otherwise the game is over in the first innings itself, more so considering a full loaded gun, a magician named Jasprit Bumrah will be charging at you from the MI arsenal. The simple funda is chasing at the Wankhede, and I'd love to see Santner bowling in place of Theekshana if Baby Malinga doesn't turn up on the ground tonight. CSK will be desperate to see their two most vital weapons bowling at the death in tandem to give them some respite and a glimpse of hope against this vintage, clinical and professional MI unit. CSK badly needs Mitchell to fire tonight, he has to come good, come to the party finally, he's had a poor run up till now but they've backed him and will continue because there's no better option than Mitchell at 4, replacing Ambati. Hopefully the big game player will come to the rescue of the yellow army. Mitchell has to play long and big. He's an asset for CSK and will be the most vital wicket for MI to clinch the game in the CSK batting innings to choke them so Expect Hardik to save Boom's overs, bowl him only one in the powerplay and unleash the speedster as soon as Mitchell comes to the crease. You've to utilise your best weapon differently every game depending upon the demands of the particular match, you've to be adaptable and felxible, there's nothing called predetermined in captaincy or cricket. You've to go with your gut feel, and back your instincts, take the onus and make those instant brave calls when it's close calls and the intensity is really creeping on on the ground at the moment and you gotta have a plan B or Plan C, D in the el classico, this is a high pressure game and it's gonna decide mi rising up on the ladder, so the context is very big and with the rich legacy of the two teams, expect an intense battle, a nailbiter on the cards for all of us. You can't comment like I don't mind losing the IPL final to Mahibhai, it's written on the destiny because of the personal camaraderie when you're getting paid a whopping sum for being a professional and a skipper of a team with a rich legacy in the league, to go with. So fasten your seatbelts, it's gonna be a mouthwatering clash at our hands

ICC Men’s Test Bowling Rankings: Bumrah reclaims top spot; Jaiswal attains career-best
Following India’s 295-run win over Australia in the first Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test at Perth, India fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has come back as the top-ranked bowler in the ICC Men’s Test Bowling Rankings. Apart from him, opener Yashasvi Jaiswal is another big gainer, as he achieved a career-best second spot in the batters’ list. Bumrah picked eight wickets, including a five-wicket haul in the…

[ad_1] Mumbai Indians will have 23-player squad for the next season. (PC: X.com) The Mumbai Indians (MI) had done most of their heavy lifting before the auction, using up Rs 75 crore of their total purse on retaining five players. Rohit Sharma, former captain, Hardik Pandya, the current leader, Suryakumar Yadav – India’s T20 captain – Jasprit Bumrah and Tilak Varma all stayed, meaning that the auction focus was very much on the foreign contingent and finding bowlers to supplement Bumrah’s sublime skills. “We had four of our top 7 in place already, just needed to fill a couple of slots with the right complimentary players,” said Akash Ambani, the team owner, after the two days in Jeddah. “We focused a lot in this auction on getting our bowling combination right and I think we have achieved that at the end of two days of auction.” HITS  Though he’s 35, bringing back Trent Boult could be an inspired move. Back in 2020, he enjoyed his best IPL season in MI colours, taking 25 wickets from 15 games at an economy rate under 8. With Deepak Chahar, once MS Dhoni’s go-to new-ball bowler, also drafted in, MI potentially have a new-ball attack that could hoop it around corners in most conditions, leaving Bumrah to do his damage in the second half of the innings. Chahar has played just 18 games in the last three years though, and keeping him fit will be of paramount importance. MI have also taken a punt on Afghanistan’s Allah Ghazanfar, who could be the next mystery spinner to keep an eye on. MISSES  There was a time when Lasith Malinga and Kieron Pollard were cornerstones of MI’s title-winning sides. The present overseas contingent lacks that quality. Ghazanfar, South Africa’s Ryan Rickelton and New Zealand’s Bevan-John Jacobs have not played in the IPL before, while Will Jacks, Reece Topley and Lizaad Williams have barely made a dent in the competition. Boult has vast experience, and so does Mitchell Santner, but the rest have plenty to prove. They may not need to go spin-heavy at the Wankhede, but at other venues, the slow-bowling back-up for Santner and Ghazanfar doesn’t inspire much confidence either.   Overall Rating: 7/10 Mumbai were always going to be hamstrung at the auction on account of having spent nearly two-thirds of their budget to retain their stars. But they’ve still managed to bring in a new-ball pairing who could be lethal on their home turf, and a young spinner who could potentially make the sort of impact that Rashid Khan did nearly a decade ago. Jacobs is only 22, but his big-hitting prowess has already caught the eye in New Zealand, while Jacks struck at over 175 in the eight games he played for Royal Challengers Bengaluru.  Pandya will surely have a more impactful season this time, with the captaincy furore having died down, and Bumrah appears to be better than ever. If Rohit can play as freely as he did in the two white-ball World Cups, MI certainly have the weapons to make a play-off push. To go further and claim that elusive sixth title, however, will need some serious contributions from that untested foreign pack.  Squad Batters: Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Bevan-John Jacobs. All-rounders: Hardik Pandya, Naman Dhir, Will Jacks, Raj Angad Bawa, Karn Sharma, Mitchell Santner, Vignesh Puthur. Pace bowlers: Jasprit Bumrah, Trent Boult, Deepak Chahar, Lizaad Williams, Reece Topley, Ashwani Kumar, Satyanarayana Raju, Arjun Tendulkar. Wicketkeepers: Robin Minz, Ryan Rickelton, Shrijith Krishnan. Spinners: Allah Ghazanfar. IPL Auction 2025: 7 Players Mumbai Indians Can Buy with Their Remaining Budget
The IPL Auction 2025 is around the corner. And as in each season, big moves with Mumbai Indians can be expected to strengthen their team. Well, with a good core of retained Indian players, including Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav, Rohit Sharma, and Tilak Varma, Mumbai Indians will have an excellent national backbone, which forms the core strength. Though their primary emphasis will be on quality foreign players, particularly fast bowlers, as Wankhede Stadium is an outright fast-tracking surface. Here are 7 players MI could target to strengthen their squad within their available budget:
Tumblr media
Josh Hazlewood (Australia) - Fast Bowler Josh Hazlewood’s precise line and length make him a potent threat in any condition. MI’s interest in him would be particularly strong given the flat pitches at Wankhede Stadium, which can benefit fast bowlers who can generate swing. Hazlewood’s ability to bowl under pressure in the death overs and his experience in T20 leagues around the world make him an ideal candidate for MI's bowling attack.
Dawid Malan, England Top-order batsman Dawid Malan, the top-order batsman of England, would be one excellent pick for MI. Consistency is one of his key strengths, and with Malan, an innings is anchored to a better extent. Malan comes across as versatile, considering he can play against both pace and spin. He has enormous experience in T20 cricket in leagues like Big Bash League and The Hundred, so that automatically adds value to the batting line-up for MI.
Lockie Ferguson (New Zealand) – Fast Bowler In the past, MI has often backed strong pace bowlers, and Lockie Ferguson is no exception. He's been renowned for his raw pace and can be a massive destroyer of batsmen in the death overs. His express speed coupled with his ability to bowl yorkers even when in pressure situations makes him an expensive asset in T20 cricket. Against Wankhede, where swift bowling can cause serious problems for batsmen, Ferguson might find solace along with Bumrah and Pandya.
Adam Zampa - Leg Spinner 4. Australia Adam Zampa, of course, is a proven wicket-taker, one who is a specialist in the middle overs. With Wankhede sometimes allowing spinners to gain a seam that helps them win the game, Mumbai might just need Zampa to provide the right arm of control and variation. Experience in the IPL for Royal Challengers Bangalore and his attendant performances in other T20 leagues make him a high-profile target for MI looking to strengthen their spin arsenal.
Shimron Hetmyer (West Indies) – Middle-order batsman Shimron Hetmyer is an aggressive middleorder bat, but a hitter nevertheless. He has the ability to fire in the latter half of the innings, which is a great asset for MI to have as a finisher. With the aim of a power-hitting depth in the squad, Hetmyer's experience in T20 cricket and the time he has spent in IPL would add to his value for the team. His aggressive stroke play could complement MI's strong top-order batsmen such as Suryakumar Yadav and Rohit Sharma.
Kyle Jamieson (New Zealand) - All-rounder Kyle Jamieson is well balanced between his pace and batting depth. He can bowl consistently at a speed of 140 km/h plus and chip in with the bat towards the end, making him a valuable asset to MI across both departments. He will complement Hardik Pandya as an all-rounder and provide some extra heft with their bowling attack on flat Wankhede pitches.
Rilee Rossouw (South Africa) – Top-order Batsman The game may turn out to be a game-changer for MI if Rilee Rossouw manages to form partnerships at the top of the order with aggressive strokes. With his experience playing T20 leagues around the world, Rossouw has a reputation for coming under pressure and accelerating games as needed. Rossouw might be the injection MI will need to give depth in the middle overs and allow players like Suryakumar Yadav and Rohit Sharma to come out and play freely at the top.
Conclusion With IPL Auction 2025 around the corner, Mumbai Indians will do some shrewd maneuvering to add strength to their squad, especially in the foreign player department. Fast bowlers are going to be some of the major targets for MI, especially going by the nature of Wankhede Stadium's pitch. Josh Hazlewood, Lockie Ferguson, and Adam Zampa will bring fire in their bowling attack while Dawid Malan, Shimron Hetmyer, and Rilee Rossouw will provide the batting lineup depth and versatility. If MI can get these players within the remaining budget, they will have a strong, well-balanced squad to challenge for the title in IPL 2025.
Keep watching CMITimes for more updates on the IPL Auction 2025 and Mumbai Indians' strategies!

On Day 1 of the first Test of Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 between Australia and India, Indian captain Jasprit Bumrah delivered a spectacular spell at the Optus Stadium in Perth, dismissing two key Australian batters, Usman Khawaja and Steve Smith, off consecutive deliveries.Jasprit Bumrah removes Usman Khawaja and Steve Smith off successive ballsBumrah’s lethal spell began in the 7th over of Australia’s first innings. The Australian opener Khawaja faced Bumrah with the score at 19 for the loss of 1 wicket of Nathan McSweeney. Bumrah, full of intensity, bowled a short-of-length delivery that angled in toward Khawaja. The batter attempted to defend, but the ball nipped away and caught a thick edge. The ball flew straight to Indian captain Virat Kohli, who made no mistake in taking a simple catch at first slip. The dismissal left Australia at 19 for 2, with Khawaja walking off the field for 8 runs off 19 balls, including one boundary. Bumrah’s first breakthrough had Australia on the back foot early.Just moments later, Bumrah produced a magical delivery to dismiss Australia star Smith off the very next ball. Smith, known for his unorthodox style, moved across the off stump in his usual shuffle, but this time, the ball cut back sharply from Bumrah’s angled delivery. The ball struck Smith in front of the stumps, with his bat far outside the line of off stump. The Indian pacer was immediately confident, and the on-field umpire gave him out LBW. Smith, having faced just one delivery, was dismissed for a duck. Replays confirmed that the ball would have crashed into the middle and leg stumps, leaving no doubt about the accuracy of the call. Bumrah was now on a hat-trick, and the Australian dressing room was left stunned by his remarkable sequence of events. Here is the video:"I ONLY BELIEVE IN JASSI BHAI, BECAUSE GAME-CHANGER PLAYER IS ONLY ONE GUY 𝗝𝗔𝗦𝗣𝗥𝗜𝗧 𝗕𝗨𝗠𝗥𝗔𝗛" – all of 🇮🇮🇮🇳 rn! ☝ Usman Khawaja☝ Steve SmithWatch #AUSvINDonStar 👉 LIVE NOW on Star Sports 1! #ToughestRivalry pic.twitter.com/62xNYajcKx— Star Sports (@StarSportsIndia) November 22, 2024Although Bumrah did not complete the hat-trick, his spell remained a masterpiece of fast bowling. Over the course of his 10-over spell, Bumrah picked up 4 wickets, conceding only 17 runs at a brilliant economy rate of just 1.70. His control and precision were the highlights of the day, as he relentlessly put the Australian top order under pressure. Also WATCH Harshit Rana cleans up Travis Head with a ripper on Day 1 of Perth Test | AUS vs IND 2024Australia’s batting collapseAfter bundling out India for 150, Australia too got off to a poor start. India pacers, led by Bumrah, applied constant pressure on the home team’s batters. By the end of the first day’s play, Australia were in a dire position at 67 for 7, having lost wickets in quick succession. Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj were the standout bowlers, with the latter taking 2 wickets for 17 runs in his 9-over spell. As Day 1 concluded, Australia found themselves in a precarious position.
