Linda Eller Nichols, age 75, of Millers Creek, passed away Sunday, December 2, 2018 at the home of her daughter. She was born July 18, 1943 in Wilkes County to Odell and Veora Greene Eller. Mrs. Nichols was a member of Millers Creek Baptist Church and retired from the Wilkes County Sheriff's Department. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Olden Conard Nichols; and a brother, Michael Eller.
               Surviving are her daughters, Lorie Edmiston and husband Mark of Purlear, Sandy Johnson and husband Brandon of Ronda; grandchildren, Dakoda Stone of Wilkesboro, Hunter Robbins and husband Gavin of North Wilkesboro, Josh Johnson of Hamptonville, Lauren Johnson of Ronda; and sisters, Rachel Handy and husband Grady, Catherine Johnston and husband David all of Millers Creek.
               Funeral service was held December 4,  at Millers Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Shannon Critcher and Rev. Jim Gore officiating. Burial   followed in Mountlawn Memorial Park.   Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Millers Creek Baptist Church, 5100 Boone Trail, Millers Creek, NC 28651 or to Wake Forest Baptist Care at Home Hospice, 126 Executive Drive, Suite 110, Wilkesboro, NC 28697.

 Penny Hamby,  57 Mrs. Penny Kaye Triplett Hamby, age 57 of Ferguson, passed away Thursday, November 29, 2018 at her home.
               Memorial services were held  December 2,   at Reins Sturdivant Chapel with Rev. Ricky Triplett officiating.  
               Mrs. Hamby was born December 10, 1960 in Caldwell County to Kelly Ramsey Triplett. She was retired from Broyhill Furniture. Mrs. Hamby was a member of Morning Star Baptist Church.
               She was preceded in death by her father.
               Mrs. Hamby is survived by her husband; Verlon Charles Hamby of the home, two daughters; Tonya Shell and husband Mickey of Ferguson and Cecilia Elledge of Wilkesboro, a son; Curtis Hamby of Ferguson, six grandchildren; Colby Shell, Mariah Elledge, Devan Shell, Austin Elledge, MaKenzie Shell and Madison Hamby, one great grandchild; Clay Elledge and a sister; Ann Hamby and husband Roy of Ferguson.

Linda Simpson Boyd, age 58, of Maiden, passed away Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. She was born June 15, 1960 in Wilkes County to John Mack and Mary Carlton Simpson. She was preceded in death by her father; and a brother, Bill Raymond Simpson, Sr.
               Surviving are her husband, Carl Boyd; sons, Derek Simpson and wife Anita of San Diego, California, Reggie Jones of Lexington, Kentucky; daughter, Sonni Shari Redmon of Raleigh, N.C.; her mother, Mary Carlton Simpson of North Wilkesboro; step children, Alicia Boyd and Steve Lowman of Maiden, N.C., Brandon Boyd and Rachel, Hildebrand, N.C., Jamie Gilbert and husband Eddie of Lincolnton, N.C.; grandchildren, Sylar Lowman, Jaxon Lowman, Brayden Boyd, Madison Boyd, Bryson Gilbert, Karlyn Gilbert, Chance Redmon, Justice Redmon, Jalen Antwan Simpson; and brothers, John Simpson and wife Vickie of North Wilkesboro, Terry Simpson and wife Patrice of Hickory, Jerry Simpson of Newton.
               Funeral service was held  December 2,  at Miller Funeral Chapel. Burial   followed in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

Ruby Vannoy Williams, age 86, of North Wilkesboro, passed away Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at Curis of Wilkesboro. She was born July 31, 1932 in Wilkes County to Rev. E.A. and Nellie Mae Wyatt Vannoy. Ruby was a member of Gordon Baptist Church. She loved to sing with Chris Eller at Churches and Nursing Homes. Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter, Brenda Craig; and a sister, Rosa Lee Bohannon.
               Surviving are her husband, William F. "Bill" Williams; son, Terry Craig and partner Sharleen Brasher of Grants Pass, Oregon; daughter, Linda Craig and husband Michael Myers of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida; grandchild, Logan Wishart Craig of Los Angeles, California; niece, Roseanne Bohannon of Stanley County, N.C.; brother-in-law, Jimmy Bohannon of Stanley County, N.C.
               Memorial service was  December 2,  at Gordon Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Barlow officiating.

Ms. Pamela Lynn Pennell, age 45 of Elkin, passed away Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston Salem.
               Funeral services were held   December 2,   at Reins Sturdivant Chapel with Pastor Michael Osborne officiating. Burial was in Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.  
               Ms. Pennell was born July 27, 1973 in Wilkes County. She was self-employed in Health Care and was a member of Community Fellowship Church.
               She is survived by her parents; Joann Smithey Ferguson and husband Charles of Boomer and Jim Pennell and wife Kimberly of Moravian Falls, a daughter; Amber Triplett of Morganton, a son; Jonathan Triplett of Lenoir, her life partner; Randy Harris of Elkin, two grandchildren; Greyson Triplett and Waylon Harris and two sisters; Misty Triplett and husband Jeff of Ft. Drum NY and Melissa Price and husband Lee of Boomer.

Mr. Edward "Bud" G. Saner, Jr. age 38 of Wilkesboro, passed away Sunday, November 25, 2018 at Wake Forest Baptist Health in Winston Salem.
               Funeral services were held  December 3rd,   at Reins Sturdivant Chapel with Pastor Matthew Sherman and Elder Gene Roger Dula, Jr. officiating. Burial was  in Scenic Memorial Gardens.  
               Mr. Saner was born February 29, 1980 in Wilkes County to Edward Graves Saner, Sr. and Denise Williams Saner. He attended North Carolina A&T University and graduated from Greensboro Tech with a degree in Musical Engineering. Mr. Saner was employed by UPS, where he received a 10 year service award.  He was a member of Bible Way Church #3 in Lenoir, NC. Bud loved music, singing, dancing and playing the drums which were his passion. Bud was a member of North Carolina A&T Drumline Fraternity, known as "Cold Steel".
               He was preceded in death by his father.
               Bud is survived by his mother; Denise Saner of the home, a sister; Courtney Saner of Wilkesboro, a brother; Billy Joe Vaught of Lenoir and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.

Charles "Chargin' Charlie" Edward Triplett, age 81, of North Wilkesboro, loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, passed away Monday, November 26, 2018 at Wake Forest Baptist Health-Wilkes Regional. Charlie was born November 8, 1937 in Caldwell County to Bill Edward and Lola Pearl Greene Triplett. He was a member of Welcome Home Baptist Church in North Wilkesboro. In his younger years, he enjoyed driving race cars and also was Hickory Motor Speedway Champion in 1964. Mr. Triplett was preceded in death by his parents.
               Surviving are his wife, Judy Williams Triplett; sons, Mark E. Triplett and wife Melissa, Rev. John C. Triplett and wife Sherrie, Matthew L. Mrs. Agnes Shoemaker Alexander, age 91 of Roaring River passed away Monday, November 26, 2018 at Wilkes Senior Village.
               Funeral services were held  November 30,   at White Plains Baptist Church with Pastor William Souther officiating.  Burial was  in White Plains Baptist Church Cemetery.  
               Mrs. Alexander was born April 10, 1927 in Wilkes County to Robert McKinley and Addie Mastin Shoemaker.  She was a member of White Plains Baptist Church.
               In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one sister; Virginia Bowman and two brothers; Edward Shoemaker and Bruce Shoemaker.
               She is survived by her husband; William Clay Alexander, one daughter; "Jan" Jeanette Jacob and husband Danny of North Wilkesboro, two grandchildren; Benjamin Andrew Jacob and wife Jamie of Portsmouth, VA, Peter Summerfield Jacob and wife Jada of Fort Benning, GA, three great grandchildren; Peter Summerfield Jacob, II, Tatum Lockland Jacob, Rhett Alexander Jacob and one brother; Bobby Shoemaker and wife Vecie of North Wilkesboro.

Mrs. Betty Walsh Livingston
Mrs. Betty Walsh Livingston, age 82 of Boomer passed away Monday, November 26, 2018 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care in Lenoir.
               Funeral services were held  November 29,  at Zion Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Tim DeBord and Rev. Robert Livingston officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
               Mrs. Livingston was born March 9, 1936 in Wilkes County to Claude C. and Ruby L. Hamby Walsh.  She was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church.  She loved decorating, putting puzzles together, she was very outgoing, and she never met a stranger.  
                 In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters; Annie Mae Earp, Margaret Brookshire, Hallie Barlowe and one brother; Horace Walsh.
               She is survived by her husband; Roy Allen Livingston of the home, one daughter; Teresa L. Foster and husband Kenneth of Wilkesboro, one son; Eric Allen Livingston and wife Lisa of Davidson, two granddaughters; Catherine and Caroline Livingston and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

Mr. Christopher Lee Jarvis, age 48 of Roaring River passed away Sunday, November 25, 2018 at his home.
               Funeral services were held   November 29,   at Cranberry Baptist Church with Rev. Victor Church officiating.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.  
               Mr. Jarvis was born July 11, 1970 in Wilkes County to Noah Thomas Jarvis, III and Texie Parsons Jarvis.
               Mr. Jarvis is survived by two daughters; Kaitlene Anderson of Pueblo, CO, Chloe Jarvis of North Wilkesboro two sisters; Angela Poteat and husband Jim of North Wilkesboro, Sabrina Thomas and husband Dennis of Boone, two brothers; Dennis Jarvis of Wilkesboro, Thomas Jarvis and wife Tammy of Roaring River, four nephews, one niece, one great niece and one great nephew.

Mrs. Mollie Wilkins Handy, age 94 widow of Rex Handy passed away Saturday, July 21, 2018 at Wilkes Senior Village.
           No services will be held at this time.  A private family burial will be held at a later date at Mountlawn Memorial Park.
           Mrs. Handy was born June 18, 1924 in Yadkin County to William S. and Dinah Talley Wilkens.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church of North Wilkesboro.
           In addition to her parents and husband; Rex Handy, she was preceded in death by a sister; Victoria Wilkins Wendland, two brothers; William Wilkins and John Wilkins,step-son; Gene Handy and nephew; Warren Shore.
           She is survived by a niece; Lillian Shore Gambill, step-son; Larry Handy, step-grandson; Michael Handy, great nephew; Charles Gambill and great niece; Lisa Forehand.

Mrs. Edna Neal Barber, age 94 widow of Malcolm Julius Barber of Wilkesboro passed away Saturday, July 21, 2018 at Curis at Wilkesboro.
           Funeral services were held  July 24, at Rickard's Chapel AME Zion Church with Rev. Richard Watts officiating.  Burial will be in Rickard's Chapel Cemetery.  
           Mrs. Barber was born June 12, 1924 in Catawba County to Hartie and Lara Jolly Neal.  She was a member of Rickard's Chapel AME Zion Church.  She was a member of the Rickard's Chapel Missionary Senior Choir, Missionary Society and Mother of the Church.
           In addition to her parents and husband; Malcolm Julius Barber, she was preceded in death by six sisters; Eva Whicker, Ida Shuford, Cora Wilborn, Carolyn Barber, Mary Harris, Rebecca Wilborn and five brothers; Edward Neal, Jim Wilborn, Bill Wilborn, Henry Wilborn and Ike Wilborn.  
           She is survived by two daughters; Angela Adams and husband Charles of Ellenwood, GA, Joyce Shelton and husband Gary of Sacramento, CA, five sons; Julius Barber and wife Susie, Floyd Barber and wife Katie, Marvin F. Donald Beamon, 62
Mr. Donald Wayne Beamon, age 62 of North Wilkesboro passed away Friday, July 20, 2018 at his home.
           Funeral services will be held  July 25, at Cub Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Brian Sampson and Rev. Scotty Roten officiating.  Burial with Military Honors by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1142 will be in Scenic Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 4:30 until 5:30 PM prior to the service at the church.    
           Mr. Beamon was born February 15, 1956 in Forsyth County to Donald Royce and Ruby Mae Burchette Beaman. He serviced in the United States Navy.
           He was preceded in death by his parents and brother; Thomas Winford Beaman.
           He is survived by two sons; Martin Wayne Beamon, Jacob Nathaniel Beamon both of Wilkesboro, Jamie Ashley Beamon; mother of his children of Wilkesboro, sister; Margaret (Sue) Rhoades and husband Tommy of North Wilkesboro, two brothers; Robert Beaman and wife Natalie of North Wilkesboro, Jimmy Beaman and wife Tammy of Roaring River, and step-father; James LeFevers.and step-brother; James Daniel Lefevers and wife Julie of Crumpler.

Andrew  Kilby, 92

Andrew Lomax Kilby, Sr. (Bud) passed away July 18, 2018 at the age of 92. He was born January 13, 1926 to Andrew Franklin Kilby and Grace Lomax Kilby. Mr. Kilby was predeceased by his wife of 69 years, Betty Summers Kilby, and his sister, Grace Frank Mayberry.
           Mr. Kilby is survived by his children: Andrew Lomax Kilby, Jr. (Mary); John Asbury Kilby Sr. (Phyllis); and, Betty Ann Kilby. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Sarah Kilby Munson (Scott); Anne Kilby; Elisha Grace Kilby Jernigan (Justin); John Asbury Kilby, Jr. (Lacey); Jenni Foster Roope; Beau Foster (Katy); and by his great grandchildren: Drew Roope; Grey Roope; Harrison Jernigan; Pierce Jernigan, and Lizzie Foster.
           Mr. Kilby was President of Yadkin Valley Motor Company, North Carolina's oldest Ford dealership established in 1915. He worked there six days a week, arriving by 6:30 AM, until 6 days before his death. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in North Wilkesboro, NC and served as superintendent of the Children's Building there for 20 years. He was also a past member of the Board of Directors of Wilkes General Hospital serving as its Chairman during a major expansion. He was a charter member of Oakwoods Country Club, the North Wilkesboro Elks Club, the Kiwanis Club, and a past member of Ford's Dealer Council.
           He attended Davidson College prior to his voluntary enlistment in the US Army Air Force on December 7, 1943. He proudly served as a bottom-turret and waist gunner on a B24 Liberator bomber during World War II in the 2nd Bomb Squadron of the 22nd Bomb Group of the 5th Air Force. The majority of B24s were made at Ford Motor Company's Willow Run Plant. When the war ended, Mr. Kilby served as part of the US occupation force in Japan.
           After leaving the military service, Mr. Kilby attended college in Bowling  Green, Kentucky. He returned from there in 1948 to work as a partner with his father at Yadkin Valley Motor Company in 1948. He worked at Yadkin Valley his entire life beginning in his early teens.
 A graveside service with Military Honors by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1142 was held at Mountlawn Memorial   July 20,  with Dr. Bert Young and Rev. Steve Snipes officiating.  
           The family requests no food.
           In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the First Baptist Church in North Wilkesboro.

Mr. Brian Everett Curry, age 49 of Moravian Falls passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at Forsyth Medical Center following a long battle with Diabetes.
           Funeral services were held    July 20, 2018 at Reins-Sturdivant Chapel with Rev. Mitch King officiating.  
           Mr. Curry was born May 29, 1969 in Wilkes County to JoAnn Curry.  
           He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother; Mary V. Kerley.
           He is survived by his wife; Tammy Watcher Daniels, his son; Matthew Brian Curry, and wife Kimberley, mother; JoAnn Curry, three brothers; Paul Curry and wife Shea, Mark Curry and wife Tina, Chad Curry and wife Kaycee and three grandchildren; Lucas Curry, Gaven White and Haiden Jarvis.
           Brian was employed at Tyson Foods for 25 years.  He was a loving father, husband, grandfather and was a Christian. He took great pride in his family and his favorite pastime was riding his Harley on the parkway.

Mrs. Eula Huffman Foster, age 83 widow of Harold Hayes Foster of Wilkesboro passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at SECU Hospice Home in Yadkinville.
           Funeral services were held July 20,  Reins-Sturdivant Chapel with Rev. Sherrill Wellborn officiating.  Burial was in Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery.    
           Mrs. Foster was born October 21, 1934 in Wilkes County to Everette Monroe and Matilda Minton Huffman.  She was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church and was the owner-operator of Foster's Lawn and Garden Center.
           In addition to her parents and husband; Harold Hayes Foster, she was preceded in death by eight sisters; Ina, Vera, Erie, Esther, Veoria, Marge, Etolia and Wyona and four brothers; James, Glenn, Theodore and EM.
           She is survived by three daughters; Sheila Nichols of Winston-Salem, Yvonne Ewing and husband Wayne of Clemmons, Denise McIntyre and husband Jim of Sparta and one son; Harold H. Foster, Jr., of Winston-Salem, nine grandchildren; Gary Hamby, Jr., Sonya Brooks, Thomas Nichols, III, Derek Nichols, Sean Nichols, Crystal Brooks, Shannan Foster, Clarice Foster, Nadine Foster, ten great grandchildren Cade Hamby, Justin Nichols, Jacob Nichols, Rachel Nichols, Dylan Nichols, Kayla Nichols, Ethan Nichols, Zach Nichols, Hannah Nichols, Jared Nichols, Tori Nichols, Connor Lockey and three great great grandchildren; Lily Nichols, Thomas Nichols, IV and Jace Gunn.

Steven Harris, 60
Mr. Steven "Steve" Travis Harris, age 60 of Millers Creek passed away Wednesday, September 20, 2017.
Funeral services were held Monday at Millers Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Shannon Critcher, Rev. Jim Gore, and Rev. Hadley Triplett officiating.  Burial was in Davis Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery.   .
Mr. Harris was born November 20, 1956 in Iredell County to Travis Benjamin and Anna Parsons Harris.  He was a faithful member of Millers Creek Baptist Church.  He retired after 36 years of law enforcement.  He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and son.
Steve was a generous and kind-hearted Christian, who was always willing to lend a helping hand.  He loved his family and friends dearly and was proudest of his grandson, Carter.  He will be missed greatly by all.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his wife; Kathy Smith Harris and an infant daughter Jessica Lynn Harris.
He is survived by one daughter; Valerie Lovette and husband Jeremy of Wilkesboro, one son; Timothy Smith of Knoxville, TN,  one grandson; Carter Lovette, his father; Travis Harris and wife Judy of Ferguson, step-father; Ronald Gant of North Wilkesboro, two sisters; Jamie Goings and husband Michael of Lincolnton, Kristy Vickers and husband Daniel of Ferguson, four brothers; Randy Harris and wife Brenda of Traphill, Buford Pennell and wife Shannon of Lenoir, Ronnie Gant and wife Dawn of Moravian Falls  and Donnie Gant of Moravian Falls.

Mr. Cecil E. Widener, 47, of Wilkesboro, passed away on Friday, September 22, 2017.
Cecil was born on Sunday, August 2, 1970 to James Lee Widener Sr. and Imogene Louise Blizzard in Richmond, Virginia.
Cecil is preceded in death by his parents.
Cecil is survived by his daughter, Kelly Widener of Creston; son, Jeffrey Widener of Charlotte; sisters, Rebecca Widener of Purlear, Jeannette Widener of Taylorsville; brothers, James Widener Jr. and wife, Debbie, of Millers Creek, Steven Widener of Purlear, Jimmy Wayne Widener of Jefferson; and grandchild, Matthew Widener of Creston.

Mr. Thomas Burton Laws, age 86 of Boomer passed away Thursday, September 21, 2017 at his home.
Funeral services were September 23,   at Zion Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Webb officiating.  Flag presentation by the North Carolina National Guard Honor Guard will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Laws was born November 6, 1930 in Wilkes County to Thomas Wesley and Rosetta Williams Laws.  He  was a member of Little Rock Baptist Church.  He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.  He  was a hardworking man, loved his family and animals, his unspoken words were stronger than any words he spoke, he was an intelligent man even though he didn't have much education.  He was a great provider for his family and a good role model.  He enjoyed reading the Bible, he will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife; Barbara Ferguson Laws, four sisters; Royster Wolfe, Lois Wiliams, Opal Clarke and Flo Laws and three brothers; Coot Williams, Albert Williams and Lonnie Williams.
He is survived by two daughters; Joan Laws Osborne and husband Harold of Boomer, Sarah Lea Laws of Boomer, one son; Rennie Turley and wife Kattie of Traphill, five grandchildren; Burton Adams, Sarita Johnson and husband Andrew, Zach Turley, Renee Melara and Dexter Osborne and four great grandchildren; Tesia Adams, Radley Johnson, Jessen Melara and Damien Brown.

Reba Cleary Prevette, 86, passed away on Thursday, September 21, 2017. A Celebration of her life was held on  September 24,  in the Chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral, with the Rev. Mike Fuller officiating. Burial was   September 25, Maple Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, 1998 Traphill Road, Hays NC. Mrs. Prevette was born in North Wilkesboro, NC to the late Garr and Sally Bell Cleary. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Robert Prevette, son, Robert "Mark" Prevette, two brothers, and one sister. Reba was retired from Flint Journal and was a member of Midway Baptist Church. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and aunt.
She is survived by her sons, Michael (Tamie) Prevette of Flint, MI, Scott (Kathy) Prevette of Gastonia, NC, daughter-in-law, Kathy Prevette of Macon, six grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, brother, Vance D. (Grace) Cleary of Hays, NC, and several nieces and nephews.

Joseph "Joey" Daniel Greene, age 58, of North Wilkesboro, died Wednesday, September 20, 2017. He was born September 6, 1959 in Wilkes County to Jessie and Martha Trivette Greene. Mr. Greene was of the Baptist Faith. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Surviving are his sister, Sherry Brooks of North Wilkesboro; and his brother, Ben Greene and wife Kat of North Wilkesboro.

Barbara Jean Holloway, age 75, of North Wilkesboro, died Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at her home. She was born November 16, 1941 in Wilkes County to Todd Winford and Lily Candza Lunsford Wyatt. Mrs. Holloway was a member of Northside Baptist Church and president of the Ladies Circle. She loved gospel and country music and treasured her family, friends, church and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Leonard Wyatt; and sisters, Hazel Lunsford and Arlee Spears.

Mr. Johnson was a US Army Veteran. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Woodrow Johnson, Dora Mae Johnson, Elsie Howell, Howard Johnson, Hobert Johnson, Gene Johnson, Robert Johnson and Martha Wood.

Brenda was born on Sunday, February 22, 1959 in Ashe County to Beulah Mae Combs.
Brenda is preceded in death by her mother, Beulah Mae Combs and brother, Billy Dean Combs.

Swanson Andrew Redmon, age 68, of North Wilkesboro, died Monday, September 18, 2017 at his son's home. He was born January 22, 1949 in Wilkes County to Jerry Andrew and Marie Bailey Redmon. Mr. Redmon was a graduate of Lincoln Heights; thereafter he joined the US Army. He was discharged after injury then returned home to work as a mechanic. Mr. Redmon was a member of New Damascus Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Alvin K. Redmon; and sisters, Cordelia Mosley and Monica Redmon.

Mary Morrison Covington, age 91, of Winston Salem, died Monday, September 18, 2017 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. She was born November 6, 1925 in Wilkes County to Charles Richard and Rosa Chrysel Morrison. She was a long time resident of Jefferson and was 13th of 16 children.
Though she reared her children in Florida, she couldn't wait to move back to her beloved North Carolina mountains upon retirement.  Mrs. Covington was married to the late Howard E. Covington of Laurel Springs. She enjoyed working with Howard's Christmas tree farm, and delighted in having all her children and grandchildren there for tree-cutting season.  She was active as a hospital volunteer and with the Art Clan in Ashe County.   She loved art, music and laughing. Her greatest joy, however, was her family. Her cheerful nature brightened any room and she was a friend to all she met and knew when she moved to Winston Salem in the early 2000's.
Surviving are her sons; Michael Kerley and wife Mary of Pine Hall and Garnett Houston Slatton, Jr. and wife Michelle of Nashville; daughter; Kathy Slatton Helms and husband David of Winston-Salem; five grandchildren; G. Houston Slatton, III and wife Laine, Jane Gordon and husband Nick, Campbell Hopkins and husband Tanner, Adam Helms and Sam Helms;  three great-grandchildren; G.H. Slatton, IV, Miller Slatton and Carter Jane Gordon; Sister; Reba Morrison of Ashe County and many dear nieces and nephews living in and around Wilkes County and North Carolina.
Graveside service was September 23,   at Mtn. Mr. Farmer was born December 14, 1953 in Carroll  County, VA to Gray Benjamin and Virginia Ida Frost Farmer. He worked for Tyson Foods as a Supervisor in the Service Center.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one nephew; Chad Farmer.
He is survived by his wife of the home; Marion Hall Farmer, one daughter; Cindi Blackburn of Wilkesboro, one grandchild; Christian Jones, two sisters; Donna Nichols of North Wilkesboro, Joyce Davis and husband Jimmy of Galax, VA, one brother; Michael Farmer and wife Ellen of North Wilkesboro and brother-in-Law; Robert Allen (Tommy) Hall of Wilkesboro, three nieces; Sandy Davis, Jennifer Holdaway and Miranda Nichols Pruitt and two nephews; Bennie Davis and Michael McMillian.

     Andrew Davis, 37
Mr. Andrew "Scott" Davis, age 37 of North Wilkesboro, son of Andrew and Jean Stone Davis, passed away Friday, September 16, 2017.
Memorial services were Tuesday at Fairplains Baptist Church with Pastor David Dyer and Pastor Larry Shreve officiating.  
Scott was born November 9, 1979 in Iredell to Andrew Kuhl and Belinda "Jean" Stone Davis.
He is survived by his parents of the home, a sister; Amanda Davis Gregory and husband; Barrette of Millers Creek, and two nephews; Noah Gregory, Carter Gregory and one niece; Jenilee Gregory.

   Sidney Miner, Jr.
Sidney Armstrong Miner, Jr. (AKA Sid, Papa, Big Papa, Papa Uber) left this earth on Friday September 15th, 2017 at Wilkesboro Regional Medical Center, after enjoying two of his favorite things - lunch and the company of his beautiful wife, Pam.  This St. Pete, FL born self-proclaimed "Mountain Man" made an impact on everyone he met.  He grew up in St. Pete with his brother, Bill, and parents, Sidney and Mary Katherine Miner, and graduated from Northeast High School. While attending the University of South Florida, he joined the Marine Corps Reserve to serve his country.  He graduated from USF with a degree in political science and followed in his father's and grandfather's footsteps by joining the family insurance agency.  He met the love of his life on New Year's Eve 1972.  Eight short months later they were married and proceeded to have three wonderful children, Katherine, Jennifer, and Sidney.  As life progressed he became involved in the Exchange Club, Boy Scouts, Holy Family Catholic Church, and the Knights of Columbus. He continued to establish strong connections in North Wilkesboro, NC after realizing the dream of a log cabin in the mountains.  He never met a stranger and his generosity, sense of humor, and loyalty has been an example for all.
He is survived by his wife, Pam; his brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Kathi Miner; his children, Katy and Jim Witkowski, Jen and Justin Knippen, and Sid and Bethany Miner; his grandchildren, Sid, John, Bobbi and Lucas Miner; Katherine, Jack and Emma Knippen; beloved dog, Blue; and many others whose lives he touched simply by being himself.  In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Greater Tampa Bay Area Council, Boy Scouts of America.
Funeral service will be held in St. Petersburg, Florida. Miller Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements.
   Beverly Moxley, 50
Mrs. Beverly Gail Moxley, 50, of Wilkesboro, passed away on Thursday September 14, 2017.
Beverly was born on Sunday, March 12, 1967 to George Harris and Josephine Wellington in Wilkes County.  
Beverly is preceded in death her husband, Bobby Joe Moxley and father George Harris.
Beverly is survived by: her mother, Josephine Wellington of Wilkesboro; son, Celon Wellington of Wilkesboro; sisters, Jessie Wellington, of Moravian Falls, Wanda Navarro and husband Richard, of Wilkesboro, Kimberly Brown, and husband, Eldridge of Winston Salem; brothers, Larry Wellington and John Wellington both of Wilkesboro and grandson, Austin Curry.
A graveside service washeld  September 20,  in Mountain Park Cemetery with Rev. Arvil Perry   officiating.
