Vikings and Dragons are enemies on the Isle of Berk. Hiccup, son of Chief Stoick the Vast, breaks tradition when he befriends the dragon Toothless. Their bond challenges the foundations of their societies. When an ancient threat threatens both sides, Hiccup and Toothless's friendship becomes the key to a new future.

How to Train Your Dragon is inspired by the series by Cressida Cowell and DreamWorks Animation's trilogy. The film stars Mason Thames (Hiccup), Gerard Butler (Chief Stoick the Vast), Nico Parker (Astrid), Nick Frost (Gobber), Julian Dennison, Gabriel Howell, Bronwyn James, Harry Trevaldwyn, Ruth Codd, Peter Serafinowicz, and Murray McArthur. Dean DeBlois, who co-wrote and co-directed the animated film, serves as writer, director, and producer on the live-action movie. Marc Platt and Adam Siegel also serve as producers.
