Oh this got big. First, let me say I feel like all of this is largely overblown corportese-induced panic, and realistically tumblr will just get sold off or circle the drain in stasis ala twitter. But I do think the reaction and scale of panic is an apt expression of where we're all at collectively with social media. With the common acceptance of enshittification as a hard rule of platforms online and either seeing the blatant injection of commerce (ala instagram, tiktok et all are now just shopping places ft your friends,) or alt-right conspiracy hate leading engagement-based sites (like twitter, facebook) it's easy to see the steady drip of thinkpieces working through a prevailing exhaustion with social media as a while.
Speaking as a 30s guy whose humor was shaped and born out of the early net, finding our slice of niche (albeit seemingly popular these days) humor has felt increasingly fraught. Weird-twitter and their ilk always held on to it's glint of SA/early 4chan irony and sardonic edge in a way that always rubbed me the wrong way. As someone who saw that pipeline into blatant alt-right/ reactionary/ or "dirtbag left" as it was being built, it was hard to laugh as 4chan reactionary lingo got adopted to the point where real life friends were saying twitter things offhand without knowing the often racist, incel-oriented origins. Tumblr, with no motivation for people to "build brands" or secure writing/ podcast fanbases and no sheen of networking or clout, became a place where the earnestly weird and expressively offbeat rose into it's own accord. Of course there are popular blogs and screencaps that gain a wider reach, but one look at the wild shit my mutuals post will tell you that we're not just doing a character for internet points. It's earnest, comedic, ugly, desperate, horny outlet for expression in the same vein of ytps or early forum comedy that is built from community. The existential loss of that, which I imagine must be only more real to a younger crowd just discovering itself (via RTVS and other internet oldheads) and especially the trans, queer communities that produce so much of the content, definitely feels abrupt and destabilizing. Of course there's Discord for chat and people can always stay in touch. RSS and legacy channels are all still fine, and there's a new legion of forums (ProBoards seems to be gaining traction) that can create the "old net feel," but it's worth reflecting on what that loss will mean, should this eventually be unplugged and vanish. How much smaller and more niche will things get? Is the solution entering back into the ego-politics of forum culture? (I'm old enough to remember past the nostalgia for the platform). I don't think it's earnestly time to panic over anything, but I do think it's an apt time for reflection. Would love to hear from fellow internet historian @beesmygod and fellow internet art creator @cheddar-baby, and any mutual's thoughts. I just care for my insanity outlet and got worked up.
if they shut down this site i finally snap. the niche of insane posting i have with my mutuals is all that is keeping me functioning in society. if i can't read about a suicidal tekken character jacking off and watch the kpop celibacy gif and look at beautiful artwork and rare auction pieces from niche archivists i will snap do you understand

Watched the ISTJ Studio Choom performance behind the scenes
I love you sexy terrible Jisung X'D
They all had pretty heavy eye makeup in this performance. They all had totally dark eye outlines.
Is Jisung really that much taller? I know he's the tallest but I have a feeling the others usually wear some lifts so that they're a little more even when standing in a row for other events.
Tumblr media
Chenle's been growing increasingly affectionate these days
Tumblr media
"7Dream's addictive friendship" and then clips of them randomly hugging each other. Yep.
Height difference is apparent here too
Tumblr media
The hard subs in this video were hard to see at times ^^;;
Mark enthusiastically patting Chenle's butt
Tumblr media
Jaemin messing with Jeno's armband pocket thing ^^;; And then messing with the velcro on Mark's shirt. A cat pawing at things lol.
At first I wasn't sure what they were doing and then I remembered what the back of Jeno's shirt was like.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Jaemin trying to get piggyback rides out of the guys
Jisung feeling up Jaemin's arms
The guys love showing off each other's bodies huh
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Haechan: "Didn't I tell you to draw a dragon on your back?" No but that would be kind of badass
Beat mathyung's ass for making a mistake
Tumblr media
Universemates complimenting each other <3
Tumblr media
Jisung being shy about being filmed while watching himself on screen ^^;;
Jaemle flirting again
Tumblr media
I too love the bridge <3 <3 <3 Like with Poison I feel like Dream's interested in performing this more sensual kind of music.
Omg the Jeno puppy agenda has only intensified with time ToT At the same time I do think that Jeno...responds to some of it well. Like, I think he does like being praised gently lol.
Belly rubs again
Tumblr media
Dreamies are literally always touching each other
Tumblr media
Except Jisung, he's in his teen rebellion phase. Or just being shy as usual.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And then the others join Jisung :3 Friends don't let friends look dumb alone etc etc
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
They're mirroring again
Tumblr media
What is the reason for this lol. Are they practising for Renjun's part in the bridge?
Tumblr media
Jaemren again <3
Tumblr media
Markmin in the bridge
Tumblr media
Playing with cameras :3
Agreed, ISTJ is a very energetic and tiring song
Tumblr media

Tumblr media
Lmao Haechan KO
Tumblr media
When Jeno messed up for the last chorus...it's teasing Jeno day lol. They would not let him live, they were like LET'S WATCH IT AGAIN!!!!! and Jeno was like Noooo TAT
Mark and Chenle not letting Jaemin catch their hand and then Jeno and Jaemin very gently holding hands X'D
I wished Tumblr would let us post more than 30 photos in a post again :< I had to cut some screencaps out :<

icon tutorial?
Sorry! I’ve been so busy, I completely spaced it. Here you go!
Tutorial under the cut:
Step 1: Choose your screencap. Especially if you're a beginner, try to choose one that has good lighting and looks easy to cut out. For this tutorial, I'll be using this screencap of Alexis:
Tumblr media
Step 2: Cut out the figure. I usually use the magnetic lasso tool because I find it the easiest. You start by clicking once, then you just drag along the figure, and it automatically makes an outline (you will have to adjust afterward though), then connect back to the first point. It should look like this:
Tumblr media
Then, making sure your layer is unlocked, click this button in the corner to mask it:
Tumblr media
That should give you your transparent image! Then, you just adjust the edges by using the paint tool on the masked layer (black paint gets rid of more of your layer, and white adds it back on). After that, I like to crop the image into a square (but I still keep it the same size otherwise at this point)
Tumblr media
Step 3: Edit. First, I like to lighten her face up a bit. I start with brightness (the first icon under adjustments on the right) and curves (the third icon). You'll have to play around with these depending on your screencap.
*Make sure you to right click on these after you add them and press create clipping mask!*
Tumblr media
Step 4: Add a background. Create a new layer by pressing the little plus mark in the bottom right corner. Move new layer below original image layer. Then, use the paint bucket tool (on left side of screen) to add color. You can also add a gradient here if you want.
Tumblr media
Step 5: Color-fixing. Here, I like to fix some of the colors of her skin and adjust vibrancy. Again, you'll have to play around with this, but my go-to is the color balance tool (looks like an equal scale). Basically, the idea is you're adjusting the red, blue, and green tones of the image (don't forget to clip this one, too!).
I also will click on the vibrancy tool (fifth tool on the top) to add more color.
Finally, I add a soft layer of the background color overtop (usually soft light) and adjust the opacity lower. (Make sure to put this layer above all the others). You can see my settings on the side of this image:
Tumblr media
Step 6: Fine-tuning. I like to add some extra color to hair/cheeks/lips. I do this by making extra layers for each and painting over the areas with a brush. Then, I adjust to a different setting (soft light, sometimes hard light, whatever works).
Tumblr media
Step 7: Sizing. Next, I’m going to size the icon. I like making my icons 250x250, but that’s just my preference. Then, once I resize, I’m going to sharpen. When you sharpen, make sure you’re clicked on your layer with your person on it. For sharpening, go to filter, sharpen, smart sharpen. Here are my settings:
Tumblr media
Step 8: Finishing up. I add some more adjustments based on what I want changed. For this icon, I used the exposure tool (fourth icon on top) to give me more contrast.
And here’s the final product!!
Tumblr media
Hope this was somewhat helpful!!

Tumblr media
Tumblr mobile on my tablet is being FUCKING STUPID about reblogs rn so here's a screencap
Dude had a rough night. The majority of his injuries came from him fleeing through the woods in a total panic, rather than because he got gored by something. The broken arm was because he fell down a steep slope and landed badly. Demons can generally see in the dark pretty well, but he just wasn't paying attention to what was in front of him because he was too busy looking back to make sure nothing was on him.
His friend was definitely not so lucky.
Vampires need blood for the same reason they always have in pretty much any fictional universe. It's one of the few concepts I don't see much of a need to mess with. They get whatever nutrition they need from it. I don't remember if I ever mentioned it here, but something I touched upon briefly in the few comic pages I did is the idea of synthetic blood.
Tumblr media
HemoFillYa. Midori got mad at me for that pun, lmao.
Because of the fact that there's an entire legal process involved with becoming a vampire, there's also a lot of rules about where they get their blood from. Seeing as hospitals need that shit for medical reasons, human and demon blood can be hard to come by.
Again, the Arkhen people had this shit figured out forever ago. It's basically indistiguishable from the real thing, though it doesn't coagulate or clot, nor does it react with normal blood when mixed. You know how mixing two different blood types makes them turn weirdly jelly-like? Trying to put it with the synthetic stuff is an oil-and-water scenario, only instead of one resting atop the other, they separate vertically in the container. It's super weird. Why? We just don't know. It also can't be used medically, for obvious reasons.
Anyways, you can find this shit at the supermarket, liquor stores, gas stations, in vending machines right next to the Coca Cola--it's pretty readily available. If you can find soda or bottled water there, you can definitely get a can of HemoFillYa. Wes has a pretty decent stock in the fridge at all times, when he's not so caught up in his studies that he forgets to buy any.
Another interesting thing to note? Vampires are completely immune to bloodborne diseases and pathogens. And said things also can't survive in synthetic blood, which is why it can be stored so casually next to energy drinks and bottled coffee. You can even get it served at restaurants. Y'know, for the vampire friend who isn't gonna eat here, but still wanted to come hang out with the group. So while it sounds weird and gross, it's actually perfectly sanitary.
Aside from the synthetic stuff, animal blood is much more accessible than human or demon blood, and still perfectly fine for consumption by vampires. It's just less convenient than being able to run to the corner store and grab a couple of cans of Hemo for dinner. Since it's actual blood, ans therefore a biohazard, it can't just be stuck in the fridge with the milk and orange juice. It's not impossible to get, but if you want it, you'd better call, say, the local butcher and ask him to set some aside for you to pick up that day.
Also? Vampires aren't inherently magical. Like, they can't necessarily use magic just because they're vampires. Wes can't, but that doesnt matter too much to him since he's studying to be a vet. Pure vampires [as in, the undead ones] get all kinds of nifty powers, but ones that have been transformed from human or demon don't get a whole lot. They get perfect night vision, which is cool, and perfectly straight teeth [Wes lamented the money his family wasted on braces for him when he was younger], but they're also deathly allergic to garlic now, and incredibly prone to severe sunburns.
Oh man, the garlic! I think I also came up with a fake garlic product at one point. Some vampires miss the stuff. The most popular brand is this stuff called "Wow! Not Garlic!" , complete with quotation marks as part of the actual name. While it sounds ridiculous, it's widely agreed to be the best substitute for actual garlic. It's sold in blocks similar to tofu, like just a solid cube of not-actually-garlic stuff.
I think I also mentioned once before that turned vampires are actually still totally capable of eating regular food, and may indulge occasionally, but it's mostly just eating to taste. Which is why "Wow! Not Garlic!" exists.
