I was tagged several days go (by @pamouche and @sandersdocs). Sorry that it took me this long... But here are my answers. It was a real struggle to make choices and so, sometimes I cheated by giving two answers… haha
fav wtfock s3 things
Their infinite love for each other is definitely the most beautiful thing about S03. It's so pure. The fact that at the start of the season Sander says, when he's putting out the glass with Robbe, that he's afraid that he will never find someone. At least not someone who loves him. And then at the end of the season he realizes he has finally found that. Someone who completely loves him. Someone who is not scared away by his MI and who also (unlike Britt) does not see his MI in everything he says or does.
I also cannot believe how perfect the acting of the two Willem's was throughout the season! Their chemistry feel so real. It's a testament of the absolute mind-blowing talent that these two young actors have. I am sure we're going to see a lot more from them in the future!
Also the attention for detail was amazing. The perfect choice of music (e.g. as I write below when Wandering Romance is playing during Friday 21:21 and they film Sander when the song goes “No one knows the pain”. Then the camera switches to Robbe as the song continues: “No one sees what I see in you”. To give just one example of the well thought out choices that the production team made.
Can I mention the real life mural here! OMG, such a masterpiece in the centre of Antwerp. This brings us to the amazing aesthetic of Sander. And his bleached hair! His bleached hair! He looked like a Greek God! Apollo has descended from mount Olympus!
fav clip
Friday 21:21 but as I am already answering that to other questions below let me add Wednesday 16:36. No better cuddle clip than Wednesday 16:36. How they couldn’t stop touching each other. Here Robbe earned the nickname koala Robbe as he clang to Sander when Sander got up to check his phone… Also the moment where Sander says another iconic line: “I immediately knew, he’s the one”. Sander truly is the king of one-liners…
fav scene
Monday 11:03 because up to that point Sander thought that his happiness with Robbe would end when Robbe sees his bipolar side. He even pushes Robbe away because he thinks he's toxic and Robbe deserves someone better than him. But then Robbe makes it clear to him how much Sander means to him and how Sander's illness is no obstruction in their relationship. Can you imagine the relief this must have brought to Sander???
fav shot
Again a hard choice... I like when Sander is playing with Robbe's angel necklace in Friday 22:21. Als the next clip Friday 22:52 is amazing as they are still in the same position in bed. Just in each other's arms, completely happy.
fav kiss that robbe initiates
Monday 11:03: "The next minute we are going to kiss", "That's chill"
This kiss is the confirmation that Sander needed to understand that Robbe was completely honest when he told Sander that he wanted him. This kiss caused such emotion that Sander started to cry and collapsed.
Second place would go to Tuesday 7:27 for the same reason. Nothing is more beautiful than when Robbe uses his kisses to comfort Sander. Because that's what true love means, being there for the other when they need you the most... And omg, seeing how Sander relaxed as soon as Robbe comforted him with "altijd" and his kiss...
fav kiss that sander initiates
Their first one in the swimming pool. It's such a magical moment. He finally had scrambled all the courage he needed to kiss the boy he was so utterly in love with...
Second place would be for Tuesday 16:31. A small peck at first to test the water that ended in a full make out session that was interrupted by Britt calling him. This time it was Sander who comforted Robbe when he said: "We are the future".
fav sander dialogue
"Gij en ik... 100% voor altijd... In elk universum..."
Ok, maybe not much of a dialogue but those few words carry such meaning... And the fact that Sander said these words with such conviction! You could feel how he meant every word of what he said!
fav robbe dialogue
The minute by minute speech and "You've touched me and I never felt anything like it" in Monday 11:03. Yes, I keep coming back to Monday 11:03 because I love that scene so incredibly much!!!!
fav hug
Wednesday 17:21
It's so cute how Robbe goes behind Sander and wraps his arms around him like a guardian angel and Sander then calls him an angel!
Fav 21:21
Friday 21:21
Look how vulnerable Sander is when he opens up to Robbe. The way Robbe melted when Sander spoke his iconic words. And this also marks the moment when they fully chose each other and never looked back.
And the funny parts like "Stomme schoenen!". Haha, such dorks. I love them!
Fav. Sobbe Instagram pic
The pic uploaded December 4th, 2019 on Sander's Insta. It's just the two of them acting silly (Sander sticks out his tongue). So, cute.
And then the Bowie caption:
"'Cause we're lovers
And that is a fact
Yes, we' re lovers
And that is that"
fav scene x song pair
Friday 21:21 with Wandering Romance by Lie Ning!
When during Friday 21:21 Sander's face is on screen the song goes: "No one knows the pain". Then the camera switches to Robbe as the song continues: "No one sees what I see in you". (*)
Is there a better song imaginable??? And then the fact that Lie Ning himself wrote on Instagram: "i wish i had Robbe and Sander when i was a teenager. this love that is not defined by gender or sexuality but purely by affection and heart is exactly what I was looking for back then. glad to be a part of this beautiful romance. everyone knows the pain. but few are brave enough to show it."
(*) Of course this must be a bit of a lie because someone as wonderful and sweet as Sander must have hordes of people who see how special he is...
fav message between Sander & Robbe
Hmmm, April 10th, 2020 is really nice. It starts with Sander saying that Robbe was hefty in his dreams that night... Definitely Robbe must have blushed so much reading that... Then he teased Robbe that his battery was empty and so that he couldn't record his lockdown walk movie. Such a Sander thing to do... Teasing his boyfriend...
Then Robbe writes: "I want to be with you sooooo much. How focking cute you are". Then Sander writes: "I love you, Robin" to which Robbe answers: "I love you too. Abnormally much!"
How perfect is this??? Like the teasing, Robbe calling Sander cute, Sander saying Robin, and then Robbe saying he loves Sander abnormally much.
fav banter on Instagram
Their discussion about their anniversary post. Robbe saying that this was ok for Sander to call him awake for but that Sander had to wait till tomorrow for Robbe's surprise. Saying "patience is a virtue". And then Robbe commenting on Sander's excessive use of emoji's. And Sander teasing Robbe by saying "Thus not like this" followed by 20 hearts... haha
I am not sure who has all done this so far so I am tagging @lucidpantone, @bowieexaminprogress, @tsjernobyl, @mijnlief, @indimlights, @sanderxrobbee, @debussyatmidnight, and @hereforsobbe. Feel free to ignore!

Big disclaimer: In art, the phases of the moon are generally used to convey mood, or for purely aesthetic purposes, rather than as a timekeeping implement. Also, when considering the accuracy of phases of the moon in stories far offset from the modern day, it may be unwise to place specific dates based on the moon, but in Novae, events matched up well enough that I figured I may as well use the moon to help mark time.
Another disclaimer: Specific dates are (generally) arbitrarily chosen by nitpicking the wording characters use so take those with a grain of salt xD The time between the chapters and the general time of year are the parts that I’ve tried to nail down here.
(Last edited: 07/29/2020)
Explanations to follow >:3
DECEMBER 1672:
Raz is 22 at the start of Novae (character bio), which starts in 1672 (pg 4).
Novae must start on or after Raziol’s 22nd birthday, specifically December 6, 1672.
During Ch 2, Raziol and Sulvain enjoy a dark, moonless night of stargazing. This puts the phase of the moon sometime between 1st quarter and 3rd quarter, anywhere between the 11th and the 27th of December, 1672. (idk Paris is pretty far north so the moon doesn’t get very high in the sky anyway)
(also for Saturn to be up and Orion mostly upright in December of 1672, that puts the time for night between 10pm and 12am, but that’s nitpicky at best xD)
Raz says he hadn’t changed since last Wednesday (pg 12), so to allow ample time for that and for the phase of the moon to kinda match in Ch 2, we can push the start of Ch1 to the fourth week of December.
Ch 1 starts at dawn (pgs 1-18) and ends in the late evening/early night of that same day (pgs 19-31).
Ch 2 starts (pgs 32- 39) in the night of that same day (“The meeting is tonight” from pg 17) goes to midday (idk, the lighting looks midday-ish xD) of the next day (pgs 40-42) to evening (pgs 43-47), and through the night of this second day (pgs 48-66).
Chapters 3 and 4 (pgs 67-142) continue the night of the second day.
So by the end of Chapter 4, Raziol and Sulvain have known each other for less than 48 hours.
Ch 5 pt 1 (pgs 143-164) and Ch 5 pt 2 (pgs 165-1st panel of pg 172) take place a few days after the end of Ch 4 (pg 145) and I’m assuming all in the same day because Raz doesn’t change out of his ink stained shirt. Sulvain asks to borrow Raz for the afternoon (pg 169), and the shadows are pretty long when he leaves the morgue(?) (pg 164) so I’m assuming pt 1 takes place in the morning? Also Jean noticed he was being stalked earlier that morning (pg 148- maybe closer to dawn?). Putting this part close to Christmas but not on Christmas day would explain why the Academy empties out, but why a tailor shop is open in pt 2. (I’m rather hand wavey on this bit but oh well xD)
JANUARY 1673:
Idk maybe they just go on lots of dates and panels 2 and 3 of pg 172 are just one example.
I have a few reasons why I think the last panel on page 172 takes place in February but I’ll get to that.
FEBRUARY 1673:
Raz wears his new overcoat and Sulvain is in an entirely different outfit (last panel of pg 172), so it’s reasonable to assume that a fair amount of time has passed since the tailor took Raziol’s measurements. They spend the day together and we head into the evening (pgs 173 and 174) before Jeans’s death. This is assuming “I’ll see you tomorrow night” (pg 174) refers to the very next night we see Raziol and Sulvain together (pg 175).
“These past couple of weeks” (pg 176) implies they haven’t spent months together yet, so we can’t be much later than February if they met back up at the end of December. The morning that Jean is killed, we can see a waning crescent moon, meaning we’re just a little bit before a new moon. This places Jean’s death in the third week of February 1673.
We see that there is some snowmelt (pgs 172 & 173), but with trees still bare and nights still frigid (Ch 8 & 9), and we also see snowdrops and crocuses blooming together (pg 331), which all together seems to indicate we’re somewhere in early spring, which reinforces my thought that we’re in February. To be fair, from the sources I’ve glanced through, both snowdrops and crocuses can bloom in January, which could bump all of this forward a month, so take that as you will xD
Raziol and Sulvain leave the observatory before dawn after stargazing all night (pg 175 and on) and by the end of Ch 6, the sun has risen (pg 209).
Ch 5 pt 2 (pgs 175-192) takes place in early pre-dawn hours around mid February 1673.
Ch 6 (pgs 209-219) takes place just after dawn on the same day as pgs 175-192.
The page comments on pg 220 place the start of Ch 7 a few days after the end of Ch 6, likely in the early hours of the morning assuming Raz saw meteors while staying up for Jean’s funeral (pg 266). Over the course of the chapter, the color scheme moves from rosy orange (pgs 224~233) to pale yellow (pgs 235~287, Ève comes in at the start of this) to golden (pg 260~269) as we go from dawn hours to morning.
Ch 7 (pgs 220-269) takes place in the morning, a few days after the end of Ch 6.
Sulvain asks “Tonight?” (pg 264) which indicates that Ch 8 happens the same day as Ch 7
Ch 8 takes place at sundown the same day as Ch 7 (pgs 270-277) until dawn the next morning (pgs 278-313)
Ch 9 takes place on the same day as the end of Ch 8, picking up right around dawn and currently we’re about ~24 hours after the fight with Ève (pgs 314-351)
Ch 10 (thus far) continues the same day of Ch 9 (pgs352-?)
No moon is seen rising or setting, so Ch 7, 8, 9, and 10 might take place on February’s new moon, give or take a day, which fits the waning crescent we see in pg 176.
And there we have it! (so far at least xD)

A Year In Review 2019
Tagged by @cullenlovesmen. Thank you so much!
I’m not going to tag anyone directly, but if you haven’t completed one of these yet and feel the desire to, please consider yourself tagged! :)
Published
AO3 says I posted 303,179 new words last year - I’m a little shocked, to be honest. There were 14 Completely new pieces and I added on to 4 others. All of these are Alistair/Cullen pairing unless otherwise noted and I enjoy writing Modern AU’s (sometimes with magic, sometimes without) as well as the original in-game settings.
Cocktails and Cheese: Updated Chapters 44-59 Mishaps and Misfortunes story arc. (50,523 words +photos added to this story in 2019. C&C is currently 224,133 words long.)
Alistair is the owner of a cheesy bar in downtown Denerim. Commander Cullen is a police detective from the other side of town. Both men go through the motions of their day-to-day lives, not realizing that something essential is missing.
After a chance meeting and some casual flirting; will these two find that little spark of attraction enough to break free from their humdrum existence and lead them down the path toward true happiness?
One-Shots in the C&C Universe (3891 words total added):
Weirdest Father’s Day Ever (1912 words ): A glimpse into a Father’s Day of the future. Kieran is back from College, Emily is five with a few surprises of her own, but all in all, it’s the best Father’s Day these two have had… so far.
Wouldn’t Change a Thing (1979 words): All good things must come to an end. Here’s a look into the future for our two boys, the day we close the doors to Alistair’s House of Whine and Cheese for the last time.
Change of Plan (5006 words): What would happen if Cullen became the Hero of Ferelden? @jellysharkbat wanted to know, so I began this little adventure. It is intended as a WIP with no set schedule for adding chapters.
All the Kisses (3600 words): Updated Chapters 47-83 - of these 100 word drabbles of varying Cullistair kisses. One of my favorite quick post past times! I loved them so much, I did TWO 31 day challenges of them last year on top of this set.
Fictober 2019 (3100 words): Thirty-one days of Cullistair Kisses following along with the Fictober prompts for the month. 31 prompts in 31 days. What is this insanity?!! Not insanity, just another excuse to bring more Cullistair kisses into the world.
December Kisses (3100 words): I sent out the call for Prompts in November and was given so many amazing ones, choosing only 31 wasn’t easy. Each Cullistair kiss followed along with the holiday/winter theme.
Worth Fighting For (2323 words): A prompt fill for @tatteredleaf where the Inquisitor slips a note to Cullen in the War Room from a certain Warden.
Beautiful Sacrilege (1364 words): Written for @cullenlovesmen & @bexterrr. Cullen/Sebastien/Alistair. Sebastian's envoy has arrived at Skyhold. Cullen is very happy to see him. (Alistair probably sees more than he was supposed to, but he honestly doesn’t mind.)
Something Beautiful and New (1172 words): Written for @bexterrr. Chantry Boys - Fic-or-Treat exchange. Alistair has never carved a pumpkin before, the new boy at the Abby takes him under his wing and shows him the ropes. (not a euphemism for anything sexual... I swear). Not this time at least.
Antici… pation (2172 words): Written for @bexterrr. Rocky Horror-ish Modern Crossover Fic-or-Treat exchange. Halloween is Cullen’s least favorite holiday, but he endures, because it happens to be his husband’s favorite holiday -- and there isn’t anything he wouldn’t do to make Alistair happy.
Sweet Halloween Anniversary (100 words + Photo): Created and written for @bexterrr Fic-or-Treat exchange. Cullen arranges a little something special for Alistair for their anniversary.
Tainted Love (1666 words) Written for @andrastini: What if the Calling isn't exactly what we've been led to believe? What if it's not a battle to the death at all... what if it's sexual? This is not my usual fluff with a side of angst! Please read the tags before diving in. I will not be offended if this is not your cup of tea, just keep yourself happy, healthy, and safe.
Everything Will be Better Tomorrow (1851 words): Cullen is having a lyrium withdrawal kind of day. With duty pushing him forward, he endures as best he can… until he doesn't have to anymore.
Orchestrated Machinations (11,529 words): Written for @rhovanels / Black Emporium Rare-Pare exchange. Alistair/Zevran pairing. Alistair has been invited to another dreaded masquerade ball. Leliana arranges for this event to be not so dreaded, after all.
My Dearest Mia (431 words): Cullen (FINALLY) writes home to Mia.
Something I can never Have (added 2 more chapters - 1902 Words): When I first wrote, "Something I Can Never Have" in 2017 for the Sadness Appreciation Society weekly prompt, it broke my heart. From that first moment Alistair walked out of the room, I knew I'd have to come back and FIX IT!!! And thanks to the 2019 Cullen Appreciation Week, I've been given the motivation to do just that. :)
Chapter Two - gives us Cullen's perspective of that little impromptu visit.
Chapter Three - Our Conclusion. Finally our boys get their Happily Ever After. :) Anyone who knows my work will know that I love these boys to the moon and back and believe they always deserve a happily ever after!
Cuts, Colors & Curls (1823 words) - Pride Piece: Cullen moved to a new town and is looking for a place to take care of his unruly hair. What he finds at Alistair's Cuts, Colors, and Curls is so much more than he ever dared to hope for.
Exactly What I Need (613 words) For @earlgreyer1 (Picture prompt): Alistair's not feeling like being jovial with the family. He needs a few minutes alone to reflect. Cullen finds him and won't let him mourn alone.
Written
In addition to posting just over 300k words to AO3 in 2019, I completed a double NaNoWriMo in November totalling just over 106k words between two totally different stories. One of which will join my AO3 collection in a few months, the other is an original piece of the urban fantasy variety.
Future
I’m currently working on my final rounds of edits on the next story arc for C&C titled Promises and Proposals, as well as a stand alone piece called The Royal Tantrum.
I have so many things that I can’t wait to work on! More Cocktails and Cheese (because, apparently I’m addicted) which means there will also be more one-shots in this world as well. I would love to do another Supernatural/C&C crossover someday maybe add another chapter to Tainted Love and Beautiful Sacrilege and of course, continue adding onto Change of Plan! :) There’s a piece I’ve been pondering for the last couple of years with Alistair and Dorian (not my usual pairing, but I don’t mind stepping outside of the box I built around myself occasionally.
Conclusion
2019 was an insanely productive year for my little writing fingers. I’m hoping I can keep up even half that momentum for this upcoming year. Only time will tell… for now, I need to get back to my edits.

building on There Are Rules AU: don’t antagonize voldemort
Don’t antagonize Voldemort was once a rule but it turned out to be an endless fountain of fun and therefore cut from the list.
There was a time, for example, when Riddle thought he was stalked by an entity that could possess bodies. It wasn’t Harry’s fault, really. Was it his fault he kept resurrecting on the battlefield? Was it his fault he didn’t have a minute to adjust his style of dueling? his body language? Was it his fault the bloody Death Eaters kept trying to kill him?
#MAYBE:
#VOLDEMORT'S POV
this is from the prev post
I probably need some actual plot and some info on the First Wizarding War.
i’m just gonna scan the wiki for details (the following is copied from there)
1970 – 31 October, 1981 Cause: Voldemort's return to the United Kingdom in order to begin his first reign of terror Result: Ministry and Order of the Phoenix victory. The disappearance of Voldemort and decline of the Death Eaters. Harry Potter declared the "Boy Who Lived"
1970
29 November: William Arthur Weasley to Arthur and Molly Weasley
Sometime after Molly graduated, both her brothers were murdered by Death Eaters in the First Wizarding War. (Dolohov)
Arthur was not a member of the first Order of the Phoenix.
Molly: "It's all this uncertainty with You-Know-Who coming back, people think they might be dead tomorrow, so they're rushing all sorts of decisions they'd normally take time over. It was the same last time he was powerful, people eloping left, right, and centre —" Ginny Weasley: "Including you and Dad." — Molly reflecting on her marriage in 1996[src]
1971
The Whomping Willow is planted.
1 September: Individuals that started at Hogwarts
Sirius Black (Gryffindor)[3]
Lily Evans (Gryffindor)[3]
Severus Snape (Slytherin)[3]
Remus Lupin (Gryffindor)[3]
James Potter (Gryffindor)[3]
Peter Pettigrew (Gryffindor)[3]
Adrian (unknown house)[4]
Stebbins (unknown house)[5]
1972
Muggles Who Notice by Blenheim Stalk is published.[1]
Published in 1972, it covered incidents where Muggles noticed elements of the Wizarding world, including the Ilfracombe Incident of 1932 and the story of "Dodgy" Dirk.[1] (a rogue Common Welsh Green dragon attacked a group of sunbathers in Ilfracombe in 1932)
Remus Lupin's friends James Potter, Sirius Black, and Peter Pettigrew discover that he is a werewolf, and resolve to learn to become animagi.[2]
1 September: Individuals that started Hogwarts Regulus Black (Slytherin)[4] Dirk Cresswell (unknown)[5] (was a Muggle-born wizard. In the mid-1990s he became Head of the Goblin Liaison Office, in the Ministry of Magic.)
Births 12 December: Charlie Weasley to Arthur and Molly Weasley.[8]
1973
Events The Ministry of Magic defeats an appeal against house-elf slavery[2]
Individuals that started Hogwarts Bartemius Crouch Jr
1975
Minister for Magic Eugenia Jenkins is seen as inadequate to the challenge of the first rise of Lord Voldemort, and is replaced by the hard-lined Harold Minchum.[2]
Minister Eugenia Jenkins was Minister for Magic between 1968 and 1975. She dealt competently with the pure-blood riots during the Squib Rights marches in the late sixties. However, when confronted with the first rise of Lord Voldemort, she was ousted from office, being deemed inadequate to the challenge.
The Squib Rights marches were an action by a mass group of Squibs in favour of the betterment of the rights of Squibs[2] that took place in 1968 or 1969, during Eugenia Jenkins's term as Minister for Magic. This demonstration was, presumably, unsuccessful, as a group of extremist Pure-bloods broke out in riot while it was taking place.
Minister Harold Minchum was Minister for Magic between 1975 and 1980. He was seen as a hard-liner, and placed even more Dementors around Azkaban. But he was unable to contain what seemed like Voldemort's unstoppable rise to power.
Regulus Black receives his Dark Mark, thus becoming a Death Eater.[8]
Sirius Black, James Potter, Remus Lupin, and Peter Pettigrew create the Marauder's Map.
1976
22 August: Percy Weasley to Arthur and Molly Weasley[6]
James Potter, Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, Peter Pettigrew, Lily Evans and Severus Snape sit their O.W.L. examinations in June. Lily Evans dissolves her friendship with Severus Snape after he calls her a "Mudblood". Sirius Black runs away from home to live with the Potter family[1] Sirius Black sees his cousin Bellatrix Lestrange for the last time before they are both in Azkaban. Sirius Black gets his own place (either in 1976 or 1977) with money he inherited from his uncle Alphard Black.[2]
1977
James Potter and Lily Evans become Head Boy and Girl[1] Sirius Black gets his own place (either in 1976 or 1977) with money he inherited from his uncle Alphard Black.[2] James Potter and Sirius Black are chased by two police men, Fisher and Anderson, as well as three Death Eaters on broomsticks, while riding on Sirius's motorbike. They escape, however, by using magic to lift the police car, causing the three Death Eaters to crash into it.[3] Vernon and Petunia Dursley purchase and move in to 4 Privet Drive.[4] Regulus Black plays for the Slytherin Quidditch team during the 1977 to 1978 school year.
Deaths Dorea Potter née Black[9] Amarillo Lestoat[10] Alphard Black (possibly)[2]
There was some speculation that Dorea Potter was the mother of James Potter and so the paternal grandmother of Harry Potter. However, the actual names of James's parents were revealed to be Fleamont and Euphemia Potter, via Pottermore.[4] In spite of this, it is still more than likely that Dorea was possibly an aunt or a cousin by marriage of James.
It was once presumed that Charlus Potter and Dorea Black, who appeared on the Black family tree, might have been James's parents (since it was known that Charlus and Dorea also had one son). However, J. K. Rowling revealed via Pottermore that that was not the case. It is still more than likely, however, that Charlus Potter is somehow related to Fleamont.
I personally like the idea of Dorea Black being Harry’s grandmother. There’s next to nothing on Euphemia but Dorea Black being bold enough to “run away” with a Potter makes a good story. And it’s a headcanon active in all of my HP stories, I think.

The Order of the Phoenix was founded by Albus Dumbledore during Lord Voldemort's first rise to power in the 1970s. Dumbledore formed the Order to combat Voldemort's increasing threat and power. Aurors from the Ministry of Magic also joined the Order to participate in more secretive, sudden assaults aimed to crush the Dark Rebellion. Dumbledore created a method of communication among Order members by inventing a way to make Patronuses speak. Although the Death Eaters had been attacking mostly Muggles and Muggle-borns to spread terror, they soon turned to attacking "blood traitors" such as Order members as well. The Order had to work hard, as they were outnumbered by a ratio of 20:1 by the Death Eaters. Fabian and Gideon Prewett were murdered by a group of five Death Eaters led by Antonin Dolohov. Caradoc Dearborn disappeared, the Bones family was almost completely destroyed, Benjy Fenwick was brutally murdered, and Marlene McKinnon and her family were murdered by Death Eaters, including Travers. Even as the Order suffered great losses, they continued to fight, and four of their members — James Potter, Lily Potter, Frank Longbottom, and Alice Longbottom — defied Voldemort himself three times.

"Imagine that Voldemort's powerful now. You don't know who his supporters are, you don't know who's working for him and who isn't; you know he can control people so that they do terrible things without being able to stop themselves. You're scared for yourself, and your family, and your friends. Every week, news comes of more deaths, more disappearances, more torturing... The Ministry of Magic's in disarray, they don't know what to do, they're trying to keep everything hidden from the Muggles, but meanwhile, Muggles are dying too. Terror everywhere... panic... confusion... that's how it used to be." —The uncertainty of the first war[src]
Werewolves were a big part of a confict...
Voldemort promised rights to [Dark] Creatures so it was a solid base
Voldemort’s base:
Dark magic - stop the laws that forbid it
that wouldnt be such a thing if all branches were for killing and torturing
like necromancy, for example
or maybe some family magic, blood magic
maybe even random spells or schools of magic... just because people were scared of “the dark”
it probably was the “Light Era”, before the 1970th, Scuib rights, maybe increase in muggleborns and newblood-oldblood marriages
Dark was weaker politically
maybe some bad attitudes towards “dark ws”
Pureblood supremacy
[Dark] creatures’ rights

Now going exclusively by his preferred name "Lord Voldemort", Riddle laid low and travelled around Europe and Asia. Little is known of his activities during this period, though he explored the Dark Arts extensively, studying the most obscure and arcane branches of magic and consorting with an array of dark wizards, who would all turn out to become his followers in the years to come. As a result of unnamed “magical experiments and transformations”, Voldemort underwent several physical and mental changes, which made him more powerful but less human, and was occasionally accompanied by a group of followers he came to call his "Death Eaters". By the time he was a full-fledged adult, around 1968, Riddle donned a hooded cloak (though he physically still did not resemble the montrous creature he would later in his life) which concealed him completely and he began plotting a wizarding coup, claiming that he was greatly dissatisfied with the current state of the Wizarding World and that he would succeed where so many, including Gellert Grindelwald and Salazar Slytherin, had failed. Voldemort convinced his underlings that to truly create a world full of peace and power, the old regime needed to be torn down at any and all costs and only those who shared pure blood, will and idealism would be allowed to live and thrive in it. In truth however, Lord Voldemort had little interest in political idealism himself. He was completely devoted to amassing his own magical power, and in becoming the most powerful and skilled wizard to have ever lived, invincible and eternal.
Though the Death Eaters were generally even less tolerant of them than wizarding society in general, these creatures were receptive of their violent and destructive goals. Dark activity suddenly arose throughout Great Britain, a country that had been totally untouched by dark magic; even during the reign of terror of Gellert Grindelwald; and Voldemort began surreptitiously killing poor and homeless Muggles (whose absences would not be noticed) with his followers so that he could reanimate their corpses with Necromancy until he had created an army of Inferi, a feat no other dark wizard in history had ever done.
In 1962, Minister Of Magic Ignatius Tuft was forced out of office for promising to institute a controversial Dementor breeding programme for Azkaban. He was replaced by Nobby Leach, who became the first Muggle-born ever to hold the Minister position, leading senior members of the Wizengamot to resign in protest. In 1963, Muggle expert Mordicus Egg published The Philosophy of the Mundane: Why the Muggles Prefer Not to Know, which posited actual theories about why Muggles continued to be unaware of magic. This was a different take on the subject, as it did not assume Muggles to be stupid nor ignorant.
Between 1965 and 1971[9], Dumbledore, who was noted as a social progressive believing strongly in the rights of Muggles as well as Muggle-borns and other oppressed minorities, ascended to the post of Headmaster of Hogwarts.
Supreme Mugwump of the International Confederation Of Wizards [ICW] and Chief Warlock of the Wizenagamot. In these positions of great and influential power, Dumbledore passed extreme legislation to prevent any possible dark forces from threatening overall security around Great Britain
In 1968, Nobby Leach left office for mysterious health reasons, leading to a conspiracy theory that he had been poisoned by his Muggle-prejudice advisor Abraxas Malfoy.
[1970] the Death Eaters and their allies (including the particularly destructive Giants) began openly carrying out attacks on Muggles for sport and to sow chaos. Cleaning up these attacks, healing survivors, modifying memories, searching for the perpetrators, and attempting to prevent future attacks occupied more and more of the Ministry's time and attention. As their confidence grew, the Death Eaters began targeting Muggle-born and blood traitor witches and wizards as well, torturing and sometimes killing their victims, which shocked wizarding society. Other "inferior" magical beings such as house-elves (who were treated like vermin) and Goblins (a family of which was slaughtered) also suffered under their reign of terror.
Voldemort himself personally killed hundreds of wizards, though he tended to only fight those he considered worthy of his attention or too powerful for his followers to defeat. In these encounters, he displayed his extraordinary abilities, many of which were thought impossible, and he very quickly earned the reputation of the most powerful and dangerous dark wizard of all time
[1971]Though the Ministry officially viewed the Order as a renegade outfit, a number of powerful Ministry officials (such as Elphias Doge and Dedalus Diggle; and the famous Aurors Alastor Moody and Frank Longbottom and Alice Longbottom) joined instantly to participate in more secretive, sudden assaults to crush the dark rebellion.[12] When Dumbledore helped black market trader Mundungus Fletcher out of trouble, he joined the Order and, due to his extensive knowledge of the criminal underworld, proved very useful.
To protect the organisation, Voldemort ensured that Death Eaters did not know the identities of too many of their fellows, and, to society at large, their identities were completely unknown.[13] Increasing the confusion and paranoia even further, Voldemort placed many dozens of innocent victims under the Imperius Curse simulaniously, and forced them to carry out his orders. Even friends and family members were not above suspicion of one another.
Evan Rosier, Lucius Malfoy, Bellatrix Lestrange, Sewlyn, Jerome Jugson, Jugson, Regulus Black, Rodolphus Lestrange, Rabastan Lestrange, Thorfinn Rowle, Gibbon, Augustus Rookwood, Igor Karkaroff, Crabbe, Goyle, Travers, and Antonin Dolohov. Likely at Snape's urging, Voldemort attempted to recruit Lily Evans, whose prodigious talents made up for her status as a Muggle-born
He took only Severus Snape and Bellatrix Lestrange under his personal wing, sharing with them his personal-secret knowledge of the Dark Arts; and inspiring in Bellatrix a delusional-psychotic attraction bordering on loving obsession, which Voldemort never returned
[1980]Shortly afterwards, due to Pettigrew's betrayal, Death Eaters began systematically murdering Order members and the war entered its most desperate phase. Marlene McKinnon was slaughtered alongside her entire family by Travers, Nott, and Mulciber. Edgar Bones, his wife, and their children were murdered by Thorfinn Rowle and Fenrir Greyback. Gideon Prewett and Fabian Prewett both fought bravely but were ultimately killed by Antonin Dolohov, and Dorcas Meadowes was murdered by Voldemort himself. Caradoc Dearborn disappeared and was never found, though he was presumed dead. Benjy Fenwick was killed by Bellatrix Lestrange, Evan Rosier, and Julius Jerome; and so brutally mutilated that only bits of him were recovered.[12]
In response to this brutal onslaught, Barty Crouch Snr, who despised Voldemort, the Death Eaters, and the Dark Arts entirely; issued an edict giving Ministry Aurors full permission to employ the use of the Unforgivable Curses against their enemies. A massive Ministry campaign, spearheaded and led by Alastor Moody, Kingsley Shackelbolt, and Frank Longbottom; ensued, immediately turning the tide of the war against the Death Eaters.

Although the Malfoys were noted as respectable members as one of the Sacred Twenty-Eight (a title they are proud of), they did not take the pure-blood supremacy to the point of inbreeding: they were willing to marry half-bloods, many of whom are shown in their family tree.

Good Morning #realdreamchasers. Here is your daily news cap for Thursday January 16th, 2020. There is a lot to read and digest so take your time. Remember you can read full articles via Barbados Government Information Service (BGIS), Barbados Today (BT), or by purchasing a Daily Nation Newspaper (DN)
MURDER PLOT REVEALED – Fidel Nkomo Alleyne and Malissa Carla Griffith made history in the High Court when they became the first accused to plead guilty to murder under the amended Offences Against the Persons Act 2018. This afternoon the confessed murderers took responsibility for the shooting death of 22-year-old Lamar Carter which occurred between February 9 and 10, 2015. They will however not be facing the death penalty even though the amended legislation at section 2 of Cap. 141 stipulates that punishment for a person who commits the offence of murder may be liable on conviction on indictment to (a) suffer death or; (b) imprisonment for life. For Alleyne, of No. 116 Denton Road, Grazettes, St Michael and Griffith, of Rochester Way, Grazettes, St Michael, their murder pleas mean they will not face the death penalty as their matter has been classified as a non capital murder. Acting Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions Anthony Blackman in accepting the pleas on behalf of the Crown in the No. 3 Supreme Court before Justice Carlisle Greaves explained that he had discussed the case with the Director of Public Prosecutions Donna Babb-Agard, QC. “We both agreed that this is the type of murder in accordance with No. 32 of 2018 which amended the Offences Against the Persons Act Chapter 141. As it relates to punishment at Section 2 Subsection 1 we are both agreed that this matter does not attract the death sentence. I think that should settle our position in relation to punishment on that matter,” the acting Deputy DPP revealed. He then revealed to the court what occurred before Carter, formerly of Spring Farm, St Thomas, was found dead in a car at Lancaster, St James. Blackman told the sitting that Carter and Griffith were involved in a “troublesome” relationship. Investigations showed, that Griffith suffered physical abuse at Carter’s hand and would discuss the abuse with Alleyne with whom she eventually also had a relationship. During one of those discussions Griffith indicated that she wanted Alleyne to do something for her. “Based on the statements and police investigations, Griffith really wanted Alleyne to permanently take care of Carter,” Blackman said. Investigations showed that the two planned to lure Carter to an area on the premise of conducting “certain business”. Griffith furnished Alleyne with Carter’s number and arrangements were made for the parties to meet in the area of Bagatelle, St Thomas. Carter borrowed a friend’s car to get to the area while Alleyne met him armed with cable ties and a firearm. They then left the area and while travelling along a road in St James, Alleyne ordered Carter to stop and get out the car at gunpoint. A confrontation followed and led to Alleyne hitting Carter with a stone. Alleyne then overpowered Carter, bound him, placed him in the trunk of the motorcar and drove off. He stopped the car again when he heard a cellular phone ringing. “When he went to the trunk and opened it, the obvious happened. Carter bolted and Alleyne gave chase, aimed the firearm in his direction and Carter was shot. Alleyne then took Carter from the area . . . placed him inside the car and drove off.” At one point Alleyne sought the help of a relative on what to do. “The plan was to purchase some gasoline and light the car with the body and dispose of whatever evidence there was.” However police on duty approached Alleyne and his relative while they were checking the source of scraping sound coming from the car. They drove off after being questioned but one of the officers realized that the substance which he had seen on Alleyne’s pants appeared to be blood and the police gave chase. The two were able to evade the cops. Alleyne was later caught at the Grantley Adams International airport where he was about to purchase a ticket to New York. Acting Deputy DPP Blackman explained that during that deadly incident Griffith was in Guyana, which was part of plan. She was detained on her return to Barbados and interviewed. A postmortem attributed Carter’s death to a gunshot to the head, he told the court. The prosecutor also disclosed that while police discovered physical evidence during their investigations, the gun was never found. Alleyne told police he lost the weapon during his escape. (BT)
PLOT TO MURDER LOVER – Frustrated with the abuse sustained at the hands of the late Lamar Carter confessed murderer Malissa Carla Griffith told her friend Fidel Alleyne the deceased “liked to buy weed” and “anybody can catch Lamar like that”. That evidence was revealed today as Acting Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions Anthony Blackman detailed the facts of Carter’s shooting death, which occurred between February 9, and 10, 2015 moments after Griffith pleaded guilty to murder in the High Court. Griffith, of Rochester Way, Grazettes, St Michael, was 25 at the time. In a statement to police she revealed that she met Carter in 2010 at a cock fight in St Thomas. They exchanged numbers and she “started to fall in love with Lamar”. They eventually entered into a relationship but things “started to go downhill” during the second year. “Every time I attempt to leave the relationship Lamar would put a black handle knife to my throat and tell me that I can’t leave him. I was afraid of Lamar.” She also alleged that Carter beat her three times when they took a trip to Canada in 2013. “I started to get frustrated and wanted to leave the relationship . . . sometimes I would tell my friend Fidel Alleyne . . . Fidel would often tell me to leave out Lamar,” the statement said. Griffith further revealed that in December 2014 they got into another argument and “he slap me in my face twice and shocked me with a black taser”. She relayed that incident to Alleyne telling him that she wanted to be happy. “Fidel told me not to worry that just now I will be happy.” She subsequently travelled to Guyana in January 2015 to purchase clothes and informed Carter during a conversation that she might be pregnant. “He told me to do what I want to do. I got so vex and curse Lamar . . and blocked his number”. According to the statement read by the prosecutor, Griffith got in contact with Alleyne the following day and told him she was vexed with Lamar and frustrated and that “I wanted him out of my f****** life and that I wanted him dead.” “My head was so offset that I told Fidel that Lamar like to buy weed and tell him anybody can catch Lamar like that and gave him Lamar’s cellular phone number.” The statement continued: “I messaged Fidel the Sunday and ask him if he collect my money and do the things for me. All he reported and say was that he going to make me happy.” Griffith said she was informed by a friend on February 10, 2015 that Carter had been killed. “I did not believe him so I messaged Lamar’s [relative] and she told me Lamar was dead. Griffith will know her fate when she reappears in the No. 3 Supreme Court before Justice Carlisle Greaves on Friday, January 31. Her attorney-at-law Angella Mitchell Gittens waived a request for a pre-sentencing report. Her bail was revoked today and she is now on remand at Dodds. (BT)
CONFESSED MURDERER SAYS HE WAS SO BLINDED, HE DID NOT KNOW RIGHT FROM WRONG – Fidel Nkomo Alleyne told police he was “so blinded by love” for his co-conspirator that he took the life of 22-year-old Lamar Carter back in February 2015. Alleyne, of No. 116 Denton Road, Grazettes, St Michael made the confession to police when he dictated a statement on what led to Carter’s shooting death between February 9 and 10. Acting Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions Anthony Blackman gave the details of that statement taken on February 11, 2015 moments after Alleyne pleaded guilty to murder in the No. 3 Supreme Court before Justice Carlisle Greaves. Reading the statement Blackman said Alleyne told police that his co accused Malissa Carla Griffith, who today also pleaded guilty to the same murder, confided in him about a year before that Carter “does abuse she” and she had to visit a health facility on many occasions. The statement said that after discussing the situation with Griffith several times, she ask him if he could help her. “I ask how? She say like do he something.” However, he kept putting if off, following months of conversations about what he was do . “I was so in love with she that I was blinded by love of what is right from wrong. Finally we come to a decision that the best time to do it would be when she was out of the island,” the prosecutor revealed to the court. Despite this he told police he tried to avoid the situation for weeks while Griffith was overseas but she kept calling asking ‘when I gine do it?’ He finally responded ‘tomorrow’, meaning February 9, 2015. “She told me that if I don’t do it, we friendship over. I did not want to lose her friendship because she is the only thing I have gine on in my life right now,” the statement read by Blackman said. “I was just suppose to beat up on he.” Alleyne and Carter later met at the Bagatelle roundabout. “I get in he car and we drove a little way down the road and I pull out my gun and I tell he to get out the car . . . He ask me what gine on and I tell he this is a robbery. We start to scuffle and I tried to subdue he. He went down on the ground and I pulled the trigger and the gun went off hitting he head,” Alleyne said in the statement. He said police later approached him but he subsequently drove off. He later realised the police had on the flashing lights but he did not stop. During that time he apologized to his relative for getting him involved. They evaded police and got out the car on a hill and ran across a pasture. It was at that time that he lost the gun. He then took back roads, changed clothes, and contacted his relative to find out whether he had gotten home and messaged Griffith. “She asked me if I do the thing and I tell she ‘yes it turn bad’. She asked me what I do with the phone and I tell she I left it in the car. She tell me I is a c***. I tell she you believe I do that fuh you and all she could tell me is that I is a c***.” Griffith then told him that she was returning to the island the following day and she would “link up”. But he borrowed a suitcase and sweater from a friend, went to the Grantley Adams International Airport and purchased a ticket to New York. “I tell myself that if the police hold me I gine confess,” the statement said. Alleyne returns before Justice Greaves on Friday, January 31 for sentencing after his attorney-at-law Andrew Pilgrim, Q.C. waived the request for a pre-sentencing report. Alleyne’s bail was revoked today and he was remanded to HMP Dodds. (BT)
TWO CHARGED WITH ROBBING KFC – Investigators of the Royal Barbados Police Force need an “unfettered chance” to find the other suspects connected to the Kentucky Fried Chicken (Barbados) Limited robbery, Magistrate Douglas Frederick today said as he remanded two men charged with the offence to Her Majesty’s Prison Dodds for the next 28-days. Junior supervisor at the fast food franchise Alvin George Chung, 36, of Searles Plantation, Christ Church and Noel Lionel Taylor, 42, of Galloway Lane, Waterford, St Michael will be housed at the St Philip jail until February 12. The duo is charged with robbing Llewelun Walthrust, on December 31, 2019, of BDS$69, 881.68 and US$1,259.50 belonging to the KFC. Police say the robbery took place at KFC’s corporate offices located on Hincks Street, St Micheal around 10:40 a.m. The charge is indictable and as such the accused could not enter pleas. Sergeant Krishna Graham objected to bail on the grounds that police were still on the hunt for two other persons and there were fears that the two men would interfere with investigations if released at this time. The prosecutor also submitted that society needed protection from the accused as she informed Magistrate Frederick that Taylor is alleged to have committed the crime while on bail for a pending matter. But in arguing for her client’s pretrial liberty, attorney-at-law Angela Mitchell-Gittens while conceding that Taylor was on bail said the matter was two years old. The lawyer added that her client reported for his court hearings whenever he was required to do so. She urged the court not use the pending charge “to his detriment” given the time span between the two allegations. Regarding the fact that police were still searching for other suspects Mitchell-Gittens stated that the objection had a “shelf life”. She also revealed that Taylor had been in police custody for the past 13 days describing it as “an inordinate” amount of time for a person to be held. “I do not know how it will benefit Taylor . . . the fact that these persons are being sought should not affect his right to his liberty.” “The protection of society is a serious matter but persons are charged, not convicted . . . . At this stage what they have is an allegation. Even though the charges are serious they are not so serious that bail can’t be extended even further,” Mitchell-Gittens submitted. Kaviar Callendar is legal counsel for Chung. He echoed the senior lawyer’s arguments for bail but went on to inform the court that his client was before the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court with a clean slate as he was not known to any court in the jurisdiction. Callendar noted that the objections aimed at protecting society were “premature” at this stage as the public had “nothing to fear” from Chung given that the charge against him was at this time, a mere allegation. Urging the court to exercise its discretion in granting his client bail, Callendar informed the magistrate that Chung was a father of an eight-year-old and played an active role in his life. He however, admitted that the one “aggravating” feature was Chung was employed as a manager with KFC and given the complaint, would be out of a job. Magistrate Frederick acknowledged the “good points” coming from both sides but also noted that police investigations were still active. “We still have to give the police an unfettered chance at finding these people. But this [objection] has a shelf life. It will be difficult for you to get bail,” he said before remanding the two accused. (BT)
LEGALISE SAME SEX MARRIAGE - It is “unfortunate” that well-known public figure and political consultant, Peter Wickham could not be married in his country of citizenship, a regional gay rights advocate has said. Maurice Tomlinson, a Jamaican working closely with the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights to have the country’s sodomy laws struck from the Offences Against the Person Act is challenging the Mia Mottley administration to go the distance by not only legalising same-sex intimacy, but marriage as well. “Many people have said that we should just do decriminalisation first and then do marriage equality as has happened in many other jurisdictions. My position is that there is no need for the Caribbean to proceed in that way. There is clear evidence that neither decriminalisation, nor marriage equality harms the society,” said the Jamaican advocate. “They actually help the societies because for one thing, Caribbean people will now be sure that their partners are with them because they want to be. Partners of the opposite sex will not just be with them because societal pressure forces it,” noted. Over the weekend, Peter Wickham married his partner of ten years in Strasbourg, France witnessed by friends and family. The event has become a talking point for many on social media since it was reported in the local press. But according to Tomlinson, quite a few of “us” have been married outside of our jurisdiction. “This is very unfortunate considering how we as Caribbean people view family, weddings and marriages. This means that many of our family members are denied the opportunity of partaking in these joyous occasions because of our restrictive laws. But the sheer sadness is just one aspect of our reality,” he said. In fact, Tomlinson, who is married to a man and splits time between Canada and Jamaica, has urged the Barbados government, to move as swiftly on gay rights issues as it has with the ban on single-use plastics and marijuana legalisation for certain purposes. In addition to his argument on human rights, Tomlinson says the move would allow more homosexuals to come forward for treatment with issues like HIV. He argued it would also help to address issues relating to immigration, taxation, property and inheritance, allowing tourists to have the same protections under spousal laws as they have in their own jurisdictions. This he claimed was preventing Barbados and many other regional countries from taking advantage of almost two billion dollar global LGBT-tourism industry. “If for example a tourist falls sick at the hotel and they go to the hospital, the other partner would be a legal stranger under our laws and couldn’t make any decisions for them,” he explained. Tomlinson, who believes one day very soon, Barbados will have no choice but to adjust its policy believes when that day comes, there will be further implications for other Caribbean Community (CARICOM) countries. He explained: “The absence of the recognition is in direct violation of the convention which opens us to sanctions from the Organisation of American States, but it will also create complications if Peter [Wickham] or someone in Barbados wants to have their marriage recognised under the convention. “If they relocate to another Caribbean country and their family wishes to join them, then those relationships must be recognised by those Caribbean countries or they would not only be in breach of the Inter American convention, but also the CARICOM Revised Treaty of Chaguaramas, because the CARICOM treaty provides for the Right of Establishment including bringing your family, and I cannot see how the CCJ would find in any other way,” Tomlinson contends. Government has not responded to the challenge to Barbados’ buggery laws lodged by the Inter American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR), which for Tomlinson represents an admission that those laws are indefensible. He added that after conversations with representatives from the IACHR the deadline had been extended in early 2019 but expired at the end of the year. “Because the Caribbean has the dishonour of having the last remaining anti-sodomy laws in the Western Hemisphere, and Barbados’ life imprisonment is by far the worst penalty, the court is very interested in taking up this matter so I expect it will be prioritised and expedited,” he said. (BT)
PATH TO CITIZENSHIP FOR WEALTHY – Government is building a new immigration platform to allow high-net-worth individuals who want to reside and invest in Barbados to get permanent residency status and ultimately citizenship. Minister of Home Affairs Edmund Hinkson said Cabinet recently approved the new immigration policy which would make it easier for those who want to invest in Barbados’ economy. “Cabinet has approved that persons who fulfill that category, similar to Canadian immigration and some other countries, we will allow them permanent residence in this country, and after being here as an ordinary resident for three years out of five or six years following that, to become citizens of this country,” he said. Speaking to members of the media at St Alban’s Primary where he delivered remarks to students during a special presentation today, Minister Hinkson noted that the change in policy was a significant undertaking because of the need to give persons such as high-net-worth individuals “a psychological feeling” that they are part of Barbados and can commit to help build this country. “We can’t do it with the population that we have now, in terms of building this country and moving us to the next level, which is the vision of the Mia Mottley administration. We have to look to open up our country a bit more to people who can be productive. “Now we are not talking about people who are going to be a security risk, or people who are criminals or who would be looking to bring drugs and create havoc in this country because obviously we have security testing and scrutiny to ensure that we get the best of people,” he said. “We have a lovely country here to offer and these are people who would be able to build businesses in Barbados to create employment. These are people who will buy properties in Barbados and obviously to buy properties you will need to employ people who are in the construction industry. “We need to build capacity and to increase our population with productive people and this is going to happen in a way by building platforms to attract both CARICOM citizens and also people from outside of CARICOM who are willing to help build our country,” Minister Hinkson added. (BT)
FIREMEN TO GET STATE OF THE ART STATION – The Barbados Fire Service (BFS) will be headquartered at Prince Road, Pine, St Michael, on the same compound as the CXC buildings. This announcement came from Minister of Home Affairs Edmund Hinkson who also told journalists today that the proposed state-of-the-art facility will replace the Probyn Street Bridgetown headquarters earmarked for demolition. After that takes place, he said, some firefighters would be relocated to a temporary fire station at Prince Road while others would be accommodated at the Worthing, Christ Church, and Arch Hall, St Thomas, stations. “Arrangements are being made to retrofit a building in the same compound as the proposed new fire station in Prince Road. The building is managed by the Ministry of Transport, Public Works and Maintenance. But that building has to be refurbished. The Barbados Tourism Inc. is facilitating and providing funding for this. “But we are also looking in the longer term while the construction of the new fire station takes place, at the British American buildings in Upper Collymore Rock, St Michael. But again that building would have to be refurbished and retrofitted to accommodate a temporary fire station on the first and second floors,” he said. Following Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley’s announcement that the fire station and nearby old NIS building at Fairchild Street would be demolished to accommodate the Golden Square Freedom Square, it was reported that firefighters were unhappy with a relocation to outfitted containers at Bay Street. However, Minister Hinkson put this down to the firefighters not being aware of planned developments. He explained that the containers were an outpost for firefighters carrying out inspection and other duties in the City to relax and take a break. “The executive of the Fire Service Association is involved and has been kept abreast of these developments and my understanding is that they are satisfied that the best is being done and they don’t have any issues,” Hinkson said. The Home Affairs minister said the National Insurance Scheme (NIS) has agreed to fund the construction of the new station for which the survey plan was recorded at the land registry last week. He explained that the Ministry of Housing was now preparing a paper outlining further details for the proposed fire station which is to be presented to Cabinet for further approval. “Ultimately we will ensure the improvement of the fire service’s framework and what we offer to the people of Barbados. We do not know when a natural disaster will come, but we have to be prepared for it. “I can assure you as Minister of Home Affairs that we are creating the environment for the improvement of the Fire Service both in terms of infrastructure, development, training, and administration,” he added. POLICE BAND SOS – After 130 years, the future of the Royal Barbados Police Force Band is being threatened by a lack of fresh blood, a member of the police high command has warned. But Deputy Commissioner of Police Oral Williams’s suggestion that Government lower the age for entry into the police cadet corps from 16 to 14 so as to replenish numbers, was met with scepticism from the minister for the police – Attorney General Dale Marshall. Marshall was present as Williams spoke at a medals ceremony to mark the band’s anniversary at Prince Cave Hall at the band’s headquarters, the St Cecilia Barracks at District ‘A’ complex on Station Hill. Directing his comments to the Attorney General, Williams said: “Like the general force, this institution is short-staffed. “The situation I am told has nothing to do with the non-existence of applicants ready to join the institutions. Currently, we have no cadets on our premises.” “The previous practice of bringing staff in at age 14 was based on the principle of being able to bend the tree while it is young. “As it stands now we have to wait until age 16 and then until age 19 in order for them to become a constable. “This state of affairs must change if the band is to survive and perform the way where we are internationally recognized.” The Deputy Commissioner revealed that in the meantime, stop-gap measures have had to be employed in order to ensure the band’s continued survival while making it clear that this state of affairs was untenable. Williams said: “I have had discussions with the management of the band and made suggestions to avoid a diminution in sound quality and performances occasioned by the sparsity in numbers, at least for the short term. “We can’t afford to do business as usual and lose this institution.” As he followed Williams with his own speech, Marshall gave an assurance that the issue would be addressed but expressed doubt about lowering the recruitment age for cadets. He declared that that police band was too vital an institution to lose, as it remains one of the key examples of the softer side of policing, one that is loved by all Barbadians. Marshall said: “Even when some members of the public seem to be losing respect for police officers as they do their jobs in enforcing the law, everybody in the police band is loved by the public. “It demonstrates the other side of policing, outside of the show force and apprehending criminals. “The side that the Royal Barbados Police Force band represents is an equally important side.” (BT)
BLUE ECONOMY BIZ START UP REVEALED – Turning sargassum seaweed into bioplastic and fish offal into fuel are among four maritime industry startups to receive backing from the United Nations Development Programme, the UNDP has announced. The ventures were unveiled at a UNDP blue economy accelerator lab’s Blue Tank session at UN House. During the Blue Tank, eight innovators pitched their concepts to a panel of judges who provided them with feedback. In the end, four of them were selected for “blue lab funding”. The quartet of startups selected receive funding of up to $30,000 (US$15,000), were Bio Plastic Creation, focusing on making biodegradable products from sargassum seaweed and cassava starch; Bajan Digital Creations Inc. which focused on coral reef mapping using underwater drones; Ten Habitat, which focused on developing a traceable fisheries brand; and NRG, which will develop biogas and fuel from fish offal. The blue lab is part of 60 UNDP global accelerator labs working to reimagine development in several areas for the 21st century, according to UNDP officials. The lab for Barbados is focused on the blue economy and is aimed at supporting innovative solutions to some of the problems. Magdy Martinez-Soliman, UNDP resident representative for Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean, gave the participants the assurance that they would receive the necessary backing throughout the life of their projects. He said while there was a need for fresh ideas, he believed some old concepts could be dusted off and tweaked in order to solve some of the region’s problems. Adding that Barbados and the rest of the Caribbean could come up with their own solutions by creating a “culture of innovation”, Martinez-Soliman said the blue economy was one area that could do with some innovative ideas. Ahead of the presentations, he said: “I do think business-as-usual has a place in some sectors of the industry.“I think that repeat of tested and travelled pathways have a place and can be presented as an economically viable alternative. “So I don’t see it necessarily as something that is wrong. “But I do value it as something that is wrong in the knowledge management sector. “In the knowledge management sector, the new idea needs to supersede the old idea. “The new ways of doing things need to somehow get rid of the old ways that are obsolete, and that is why our blue lab encourages innovation.” Martinez-Soliman said the UNDP was keen on providing support for local, grassroots innovators because it believed that the power of local knowledge is important to developing solutions to “intractable problems”. It was last year that the UNDP Blue Lab issued a call for solutions in November last year. After receiving 35 proposals, officials then narrowed down to eight. During Monday’s session, all the groups were given five minutes to make their pitch, which was then followed by questions from the audience and the judges. Nikola Simpson, head of Exploration for the Blue Lab UNDP Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean, said she was pleased with the steps being taken by local authorities to develop and protect the blue and green economies. She said the UNDP was also pleased about the new initiatives that were being developed by the young people in the Blue Tank “We are really excited about the level of innovation that we are seeing from innovators within the region,” she said. Pointing out that the region depended heavily on the blue economy for a lot of its revenue, she said all residents had a key role to play in protecting it. Simpson also gave the assurance that all the project concepts would be monitored and evaluated carefully by both the innovators and the UNDP. (BT)
WEIR: FARMING, TREE PLANTING CONFLICT RIDICULOUS – Minister of Agriculture Indar Weir has rushed to the defence of the National Tree Planting Project, dismissing as bordering on “ridiculous” farmers’ concerns of trees taking up valuable pasture lands for their livestock. Outcry emerged after it was announced that substantial grasslands at Hope Plantation, St Lucy are to be used as part of the ambitious exercise to plant two million trees across the island by the end of 2020. Weir told Barbados TODAY that he failed to see the farmers’ complaints as there is no arrangement for anyone to use the lands at Hope Plantation. He said: “I don’t know of any farmers’ concerns because no one has approached me. “Secondly, I don’t know of any farmer whose rights have been infringed upon at the Hope Plantation because those lands have been identified for a major project by the Ministry of Education. “The fact that a farmer has been using the Hope Plantation to provide grass or hay for other farmers, would mean that the farmer must demonstrate that he has a legitimate right to do so in terms of an agreement.” The Minister said the issue was brought to his attention by head of the Barbados Agricultural Society (BAS) James Paul. Weir pointed out that through Paul, an invitation was extended to farmers to come to his office and discuss any concerns that they may have about the tree planting exercise. But, he said, no farmer has so far taken up the offer. Weir declared: “I extended that invitation to the farmers and no one has come to me to complain about how the tree planting exercise was affecting them. “I also spoke to James Paul and I told him to inform the farmers that they can come to me if they have any concerns because we are a Government about empowerment, not disenfranchisement. “I am yet to hear from any farmer that feels like there is a threat to his or her existence by way of the tree planting exercise. “There is a systematic way that the tree planting exercise is being done, so I don’t see how it is going to affect farmers. “There are distances between the trees, and you can still get the hay if you need it. Equally, there are alternative lands that can be used. “You can’t complain about access to lands when there is no arrangement in place. This is Barbados and we must have discipline in this country.” Weir suggested critics needed to familiarise themselves with the project before they start “accusing Government wrongfully.” He assured farmers that the tree planting initiative will not interfere with farming, noting that intercropping was an available option. “Farmers can still plant crops such as legumes and peanuts between the trees. “So, I do not see a major issue. The last time I checked, one could still plant things like yam and potatoes under trees. “So, the whole notion that farmers would be impacted, is a conversation that borders on ridiculous.” Paul suggested the BAS backed the livestock farmers’ concerns. He questioned where Government would find the land space to facilitate a project of this magnitude. He told Barbados TODAY: “Farmers have been coming to me with concerns about where Government is going to plant all of these trees. “Even the number that they are talking, which is a million to two million trees, we have to ask ourselves how they are going to accomplish this when some of this land is farmland. “It may be grassland, but it is still farmland and we have to ask ourselves if this number of trees is really realistic in the context of the Barbadian land space. “From the way I see it, they are compromising the ability of farmers to use the land to plant on or use it for grass for their animals. “We need to know how much more grasslands have been identified for this project because it makes no sense that one would use agricultural land to do it.” (BT)
GOVT TURNING BACK ON SMALL MARIJUANA FARMERS – Government is using liberal policies on marijuana to secure economic opportunities for the rich, while denying small farmers a stake in the billion-dollar industry. In the process the Rastafarian community is being disrespected, according to Democratic Labour Party (DLP) President, Verla DePeiza. While large investors line up for grower’s licences permitting them to plant cannabis for medicinal purposes, DePeiza fears government’s five-acre allotments represent a deliberate attempt to exclude working-class farmers. “The ordinary Barbadian does not have access to that quantity of land for that piece of legislation to have any meaningful impact in their lives. Once again it is relegating our people to be workers for others instead of creating opportunities for entrepreneurship and that is why I registered my objection to that piece of legislation,” DePeiza recently contended. Despite the objections, Minister of Agriculture, Indar Weir yesterday revealed the first licences would be issued no later than the beginning of February. When pressed on whether the average citizen would be able to afford a medicinal marijuana licence, Weir replied: “Frankly, I don’t know what the average man means; the average man cannot invest in Coca-Cola.” Meanwhile, DePeiza argued this was not the only instance in which government appeared to be uncaring on the issue of marijuana. She also accused authorities of marginalising the Rastafarian community in the way it constructed the Sacramental Cannabis Bill tabled in Parliament late last year which allows marijuana use only in the precincts of their place of worship. “Again, how that piece of legislation is scripted pits them directly against the church, directly against people who are in the illegal drugs trade, pits them directly against the code of society and they very rightly have rejected it,” DePeiza stressed as she backed The Ichirouganaim Council for the Advancement of Rastafari (ICAR)’s decision to blank the bill. “It has no meaningful application in any event if you tell them that they have a constitutional right and then you seek to hide them off from everybody else. You are creating an ‘us against them’ situation once again. It makes them outcasts once again. We have to find ways to deal with difficult questions. Difficult questions must be faced head-on and I am not satisfied that we have gone in the right direction under this administration in terms of rectifying the wrongs,” the DLP leader said. And, as the government prepares to distribute the marijuana cultivation licences, DePeiza, a long-time advocate for marijuana decriminalisation, has asked government to move more speedily to pardon those Rastafarians criminalised by the previous system. She also warned that numerous young people have gravitated to a life of crime after convictions for possession of small quantities of cannabis has left them with blemishes on their criminal record. “Unwittingly, we have set a significant portion of our young people outside of society. Not just by the use, but by the fact that if they receive a conviction, they can no longer get a police certificate of character and cannot find meaningful employment on the right side of society. That immediately puts them at cross purposes with society. They are immediately out of contemplation for any legitimate job opportunities and that is one of the first paths to crime,” DePeiza contended She added: “Because we have ostracised them for years, we know how it has impacted on the Rastafarian community. I have put my neck on the line since the 1990’s campaigning for the decriminalisation of marijuana precisely because I observed how it separated young people, not that only young people use, but they tend to be the ones who get caught.” (BT)
CITY SHELTER NOW OPEN, GREETS FIVE – First five then eight people have spent the first two nights in the City’s first purpose-built homeless shelter since the Barbados Alliance to End Homelessness officially opened its doors on Spry Street. The association’s president Kemar Saffrey said five men slept at the shelter on Monday night, and about eight people, including women, were there the following night. And people are already showing interest in the shelter’s services, he reported. Saffrey told Barbados TODAY: “It is yet early and people are still finding out that the shelter is now open, but we are seeing that growing interest. “The numbers picking up and people are calling. “Since Monday, we find that the guys coming to register early in the day to come back the night but sometimes they don’t turn up because they may be out late working for people or doing something else and when they finish they may think it is too late to come, but we would try to accommodate some of them.” The shelter opens at 6 p.m. and closes at 10 p.m. until the following morning when breakfast is served. He pointed out that while most people seeking to use the shelter are from St Michael and Christ Church, the Alliance to End Homelessness’ has been working with a number of non-governmental organisations (NGOs) who would be able to use the shelter for their purposes as well. Saffrey said: “We have been out on the road on Monday and Tuesday letting our clients know that, yes, we have opened officially. “The first night my office team went home as late as 11 o’clock making sure that everything was in order. “So we are in our early days yet and we have been working hard to ensure that people are comfortable when they get here.” The shelter is equipped to accommodate 90 persons per night, according to Saffrey. He added: “The important thing is that even if one person sleeps a night, that is one person that we know that we took off the streets and we feel good about it. “Before, there was no other place that these people who we consider to be homeless could go, but now they do. “And we are seeing homelessness from different perspectives. We are seeing fire victims who have nowhere to go, and we are seeing men living on the streets. “We are seeing women with nowhere to go and we are seeing men coming out of jail and have nowhere to go. “So we know that there are people who will need to use our shelter and we are just asking Barbadians for their continued support and to help anyhow they can.” The alliance president also issued a reminder that the shelter was not intended to be a residential centre, but rather a place where people sleep at night. During the day, the shelter’s staff would be available to provide those in need with the necessary tools for their reintegration into society, said Saffrey. (BT)
LAWRENCE T GAY CLOSED FOR REST OF THE WEEK – The Lawrence T. Gay Memorial Primary School will remain closed for the rest of the week while the Ministry of Education, Technological and Vocational Training looks for an alternative venue. The school, which is located at Spooner’s Hill, St Michael, was closed today and Ministry officials met with staff to hear their complaints and concerns. Officials also met with representatives of the Ministry of Health and Wellness and the Ministry of Labour and Social Partnership Relations. The latter Ministry continued investigations in the surrounding community today amidst complaints by staff and students of itchy skin and burning eyes. This will be an ongoing exercise. At the conclusion of all meetings, Minister of Education, Technological and Vocational Training, Santia Bradshaw, agreed that the school would be closed for the next two days and her Ministry would again engage the services of REA Environmental International to monitor and conduct air quality tests at the site. This requires samples being sent overseas. Over the next two days, the Ministry will investigate possible locations to house the 496 students and staff of this school, starting with the Class 4 students. Identifying a location requires space for school furniture, adequate bathrooms and serving area for lunch and security. There is also a need to transfer furniture and materials from the school to the new site and securing insurance for the duration of the occupation of the site. Officials from the Ministry of Education will address parents of the school at a planned PTA meeting tomorrow, Thursday, at 5 p.m. at the nearby Grace Hill Moravian Church. (BGIS)

The Legendary Kiki & Herb Return to San Francisco to Do a Holiday Show at the Curran
For the primary time in 15 years, Kiki & Herb are on tour, and they’re bringing the most recent iteration of their vacation spectacular, “Do You Hear What We Hear?” to the Curran Theater for one evening solely, December 9. For these unfamiliar, Kiki and Herb are the legendary cabaret characters created by Justin Vivian Bond and Kenny Mellman approach again within the Nineties. That’s after they first carried out off-Broadway vacation exhibits and non-holiday exhibits mixing dry banter, harrowing drama, bitter cabaret variations of Nirvana and Radiohead tunes, and a manic homage to the wizened outdated dames of an earlier period. Bond’s self-described “boozy chanteusy” Kiki, who’s of indeterminate age, is the kind of singer who will get progressively drunker and louder earlier than your eyes, and Herb is her long-suffering, sometimes supportive accompanist. The pair went off to do their very own stuff within the final decade, sometimes coming again collectively to revive Kiki & Herb in New York — however the final time they carried out outdoors the town as these characters was 2007, they usually final did a New 12 months’s Eve present in San Francisco on December 31, 2005. Mx. Bond has been a daily performer at Joe’s Pub at New York’s Public Theater, and followers had been heartened after they did just a few dates of a vacation present in December 2021, practically two years right into a pandemic. Because the New York Instances described their earlier vacation oeuvre, “In fright drag, with age make-up crisscrossing her face, Bond’s Kiki would stalk by means of the group like a bloodthirsty elf, savaging vacation carols and performing medleys that intermixed ‘Rudolph the Purple-Nosed Reindeer’ with ‘Suicide Is Painless.'” And as Mellman, an authentic member of the band The Julie Damage, places it, “It appeared like a present to an viewers that wouldn’t essentially be going house for Christmas, wouldn’t essentially have the very best relationship with their household.” However now Kiki & Herb are again on the highway this vacation season, kicking off a six-city tour in Boston and touchdown in San Francisco on Friday, December 9. They’re going to be acting on the grand Curran stage, through the between-shows hiatus on the theater following the latest closure of Harry Potter & the Cursed Little one. Tickets go on sale tomorrow, October 18, at 10 a.m. at BroadwaySF.com. Mx. Bond obtained their begin within the 90s drag scene in San Francisco, alongside the likes of Heklina, acting at golf equipment like Membership Uranus on the EndUp. And there have been occasional solo, non-Kiki exhibits at Oasis, Feinstein’s, and different SF venues lately, together with a Pleasure present earlier this yr. As Bond instructed the Instances final yr, “I created the character of Kiki through the AIDS disaster. I used to be a teenager in my 20s, a avenue activist. I felt like saying all of the issues I needed to say as myself would sound too strident, too earnest. To have this boozed up outdated one who had achieved all of it, seen all of it, I might say something as this character.” Bond added, “I introduced components of individuals I actually knew into Kiki — very intimidating, very good ladies who had simply gotten a shit hand dealt, who someway grew to become these superb creatures. In order that was all the time there. Herb was based mostly on this man who labored in a piano bar that we carried out at typically, this single man who would drink tequila and had an image of his cat on the piano.” Suffice it to say, IYKYK, and very like Taylor Mac’s “Vacation Sauce” in 2018, that is certain to be the occasion of the vacation season. Beneath, a few clips of Kiki & Herb preserved on YouTube, together with Kiki’s tackle Kate Bush’s “Operating Up That Hill,” carried out again in 2007. Zechariah 14:1-21, Revelation 20:1-15, Psalms 148:1-14, Proverbs 31:8-9
Today is the 29th day of December. Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I'm Brian and it is a pleasure to be here with you at the close of the…I mean…this is the last close of a week that we have together in this revolution through the Bible in this year. So, we’ll be closing our final week together and also closing the second to the last book in the Old Testament, the book of Zechariah. We’ll finish that today and then move forward in Malachi tomorrow for the final two days of the year. So, if it hasn't been obvious, like we’re on the threshold of ending the year and getting ready to gear up and start a new year together. So, we’re reading from the Christian Standard Bible all this week, which of course, concludes with today. Zechariah chapter 14 verses 1 through 21.
Commentary:
Okay. So, I mean it’s pretty obvious that we’re just days away from concluding the year, which, I mean, in concluding the year and concluding a complete reading of the entire Bible and preparing our hearts to start over again. And, so, as we continue the journey between the holidays…we've already talked about how it’s a contemplative time…we’re setting new goals and, you know, our lives have been disrupted a bit by the holidays. And, so, we’re thinking about what we want the next year to look like and we've even talked about how the Proverbs speak into that because it's easy enough to go, well, I mean we’re just days away, let’s just finish this thing up and we’re not really paying attention, but the Bible is still speaking because it still has some things to say. The years not…like…we’re not done. And, so, we can turn again to the Proverbs to guide us in our resolution making and focus our hearts on what's the next weeks and months are gonna look like. And, so, today in the book of Proverbs we’re directed to look outside, beyond ourselves, and to respond. So, we’re told, “speak up for those who can't speak for themselves, ensure justice for those being crushed, speak of the poor and helpless and see that they get justice.” And the truth is, it's probably…it's pretty unlikely that we don't all agree with what the Proverbs saying...but it's also easy to agree with the sentiment and remain passive. But the Proverb isn’t describing, like, a posture or, like, a mindset or a philosophy. It's giving actions that are we’re supposed to live into. “Speak up for those who can't speak for themselves”, like, that's an action. “Ensure justice for those being crushed”, that’s an action. “Speak up for the poor and helpless. See that they get justice”. This is, like, a participatory thing, not just something you can shake your head up and down and agree with. And, boy, you know, a proverb like this, it's so easy to ambush a proverb like this and like you know, throw it into the stew that is the political climate of our day and, you know, make it rhetoric and make it a talking point or try to figure out who’s supposed actually be doing that when we’re all supposed to be doing that. Like it's not proverb that was written for elected officials running government agencies. We’re supposed to obey the voice of wisdom. So, it's not really supposed to be a political thing. I mean, maybe, you are supposed to engage in political discourse. But we gotta remember, like, Proverbs wasn't written last week and it wasn't written this century and it's not speaking specifically to our political climate the issues of injustice. These are ancient issues and we’re just living through what it looks like right now. And the reason that this is important is that as we contemplate the new year our sense of justice does indeed shape our convictions and we've certainly had plenty of opportunity this year as we’ve gone through the Bible to bear witness to the erosion that takes place when justice is obscured. And, so, Proverbs isn’t giving like a posture or sentiment. Justice is a defining characteristic of God's people, it’s all through the Bible and it it's absolutely gonna shape our year. We may not think of it, like, we might not actively be thinking about it, but our sense of what is right and wrong, what is just and what is unjust will shape our convictions and will shape our year whether we ignore the proverb or not. And if we choose to kind of incorporate this into what we’re looking at in the new year, like, to pay more attention to the downtrodden in some sort of way, that’s gonna look different for everybody and it basically, I mean, like, we all agree, we all agree with the Scriptures say. So, it's gonna boil down to whether we’re paying attention, but ignoring a proverb like this is like ignoring one of our most fundamental core understandings of God, right? One of our core understandings of God is that He is just and good. And we can think, okay, God is just and He's good and He should bring justice to the poor and helpless or we can understand what has always been true, that we are invited to collaborate and participate with God as actual hands and feet, boots on the ground for His kingdom on earth as it is in heaven and that He uses our hands and feet our flesh and bone to bring blessing and glory upon the earth. So, one of those blessings is supposed to be…like one of the things in his kingdom supposed to be that the poor and helpless are treated justly. And, so, rather than just thinking that we’re doing our part by having random, heated social media, political debates…I mean…why don't…this doesn't have to be like that. Why don't we invite the Holy Spirit to speak to us individually about how it is that we can participate in bringing His kingdom on earth as it is in heaven and reflecting His glory upon the earth as the body of Christ. I mean, so, like, rather than figuring out whether we’re conservative brothers and sisters or whether we’re liberal brothers and sisters or all the different persuasions of politics and governments around the world that represent who we are as a Daily Audio Bible community, rather than try to figure out how to unpeel the onion there, why don’t we just ask God, you know, what does this look like for me? What is it You would like me to be aware of? How should I pay attention this year? How do I be made in your image? How do I be Christ like when it comes to what is just and good?
Prayer:
Father, obviously a worthy question because You brought it up in the Scriptures. You know it's one that is definitely, definitely overwhelmed by the political climate of the day, but we’re kind of stepping away from all that noise and just saying, what are You saying to me? How do You want me to incorporate this into my life and my actions as I take steps forward every day with You in the coming year? How is it that I can be Your hands and feet? How can I be flesh and bone? How can I be the body of Christ in every situation that I step into this coming year? So, we invite Your Holy Spirit. You are the Creator of all things and You know all of the answers to all things in and yet You are one of the last people's that gets consulted. And, so, before we ever enter into the new year we’re consulting You, we’re asking You to begin to break our hearts for the things that break Your heart. Come Holy Spirit we pray. In Jesus’ name we ask. Amen.

Hello my DAB family community. This is Michael again, I’m sorry, I know I’m not supposed to call in back to back but I know sometimes you get on here and two minutes goes by so fast and then I guess I kind of ramble sometimes when I get talking and not realizing and not watching the time. And the next thing you know a way over the time. So, I know I was talking about my marriage and I guess I just need prayers on direction and what I need to do. I mean I need a __ to grow on where I need to be in this situation and that’s it. I’m just tired of fighting and trying to be in a positive state in this whole situation. Hello, I wanted to say something to John the Prodigal. I know that you have lost so many things this year and you really don’t know how to how to live, how to go on with your life. And I just wanted to remind you, the apostle Paul in Philippians 4, he found the secret of being able to live with plenty or nothing at all. And the secret was Christ’s presence with them. And, so, the secret really is for all of us, Christ with us, the power we face anything, that’s how we can face tomorrow. And it’s such a thought that it’s Christmas time and that God sent Jesus into this broken world because we need it, so much help, we need it to know how to live. And, so, John the Prodigal, I just wanted to bless you with this Christmas present, this Christmas gift of speaking God’s word over you. Lord I thank You for the wisdom in the scope of this prayer. I fall down on my knees and pray to the Father of all the great family of God. Some of them are already in heaven and some down here on earth but out of His glorious unlimited resources He will give You, John the Prodigal, the mighty and strengthening of His Holy Spirit and I pray that Christ will be more and more at home in your heart living within you as you trust in Him. May your roots go down deep into the soil of God’s marvelous love and may you be able to feel and understand as our God’s children shared…
Hi, this message is for the ICU nurses who called in. I forget your names, I’m so sorry, but I know that you are nurses and that you are work in the ICU. I am a medical student, which means that I don’t know half as much as what you guys know and that I learn mostly from nurses, but I respect the place where you’re coming from, you’re coming from a very humanistic, a very humble place when you reflect upon how your experiences…how you’ve been affected by experiences. And I wanted to share that it’s so courageous for both of you to just be so transparent about how you feel. That’s very uncommon, at least to me it’s seems it’s a little uncommon in the medical community and I very much respect and have been very thoughtful of both of you just for being able to be so forthcoming about how you feel and how you experience life, you know, as an ICU nurse. And I just wanted to pray a prayer of blessing and strength over both of you. And I pray that God’s love would surround you everywhere that you go and that His joy would be your strength every moment of every day and that God would bless the work of your hands, that He would bless and multiply your land, that you would prosper in everything that you do, and that you would be at peace, and in him that you would do all things, and that you would do above and beyond anything you could ask or imagine…
It is so hard to believe the 2018 is closing. I tell you, this family has definitely pulled out all the stops this year. There are so many of you to thank, especially those behind the scenes. SarahJane and the entire crew, Brian, and Jill Hardin, your children. This community has blessed my life so much and I cannot believe it’s 13 years. I just can’t believe it. For all of you who have had hardships this year, I pray that you’re ending the year on a strong note regardless of our circumstances. Something that I keep telling myself is we walk by faith and not by sight. We walk by faith and not by sight. And God is not finished with you yet. Having said that, John the Prodigal, I know you have had a year of loss like many of us. And I’m not trying to minimize that but brother you are still here like Walda said. God opened your eyes, He got you up, He is not finished with you yet. No matter what, you keep pressing forward. For all of those of you who are struggling with addictions I challenge you to get an accountability partner, get in a recovery group, get someone that is going to hold you accountable and that you can reach out to. For all of you battling illnesses, I am praying protection and healing and restoration of your body from the top of her head to the soles of your feet. I love this community dearly. I thank you all for your prayers. I thank all of you will listen and don’t call in but pray in the background. Know that we are all prayer warriors. 2019 is going to be a wonderful year and as Brian says, it’s not how we start it but how we end the journey and let’s end it well. I love you. Cheers! Asia and Munich.

2 February 2018 7.26pm CONVERSATION between YOONSAN and HOJUNG “You’re kidding,” Hojung scoffed, turning to look away from his best friend, eyes rolling. “Hyung, you can’t date my sister. No. She’s off limits.” Yoonsan’s lips curved into an irritated pout, he sighed and sprawled his form out on the dance room floor. “I just wanted to tell you. Help me put in a good word will ya?” Hojung rarely got mad at his rather quiet and bashful best friend, Yoonsan was not the kind of guy to lash out at other about petty problems he faced. He could be grumpy and a tad bit less understanding at times but that was all there was to his tantrums. However, this was a different story, this time he was actually contemplating starting a feud. “How could you even like her? You don’t even talk to her privately? All you do is get that 3 seconds of talk time whenever she brings me lunch or something. Please don’t call it love, please don’t break her heart like this. It isn’t genuine,” Hojung pointed out, his brain frantically analysing the situation, trying to find a loophole in Yoonsan’s confession. Yoonsan only knew you from those moments that lasted no longer than a minute, he couldn’t possibly be attached to a fleeting silhouette. Again, his friend shrugged it off casually, like he wasn’t being fiercely interrogated. Yoonsan avoided eye contact, shutting his eyes as if he was completely serene. “Maybe those 3 seconds was all she needed to steal my heart.”

3 January 2018 1.42pm MEETING and CONVERSATION between YOONSAN and YOU She’s pretty, he thinks. Especially with that cold winter blush painted across her cheeks. He’s cute, you think. I think it’s adorable he has sweater paws in a turtleneck. Neither of you says that out loud, but they say someone’s genuine thoughts can be seen through their eyes. Eyes are like the mirrors of your soul. Instead, you clink tea cups and sip on hot chocolate, admiring the last few snowflakes dotting on the large window on your right. This cafe was your idea but the outing was San’s. He appeared awfully mismatched with the whole cheerful fairyland aesthetic but you found it even more attractive. It was not an awkward mismatch but a surprisingly pleasant one like purple and yellow. This isn’t a date, you reminded yourself, taking a cookie from the platter and putting it to your lips as your mind worked to come up with a conversation starter other than ‘what memes have you got of my bro,’. Just talk to him like he’s a friend. “What song’s are you working on right now?” you blurted out then wondered if it was too peculiar or personal of a question. San liked the fact that you took interest in his passion for music. Honestly, he could never hold a face-to-face conversation for long but talking about his music was a different story. He could go on about it for ages. Ugh, he’s so cute when he talks about his passion for music. Oh wow, the small smiles his lips pull into are really charming. Just a friend. Just a friend, Yoonsan. Pull yourself together and calm down. Isn’t this what you wanted? Girls can sense when you’re nervous around them. He’s the forbidden fruit. She’s my forbidden fruit. Both of you remained in Eden, drinking mugs of hot chocolate with extra marshmallows floating inside and biting into butter cookies, wishing all fruits were edible.
8 January 2018 8.18pm MEETING with YOU and HOTSHOT “Uhh San said he’s at Sungwoon’s house playing Fifa or something,” you replied to your parents’ question on where your older brother was. “Oh good,” your father commented. “I need to drop by their house to ask Sungwoon’s grandfather about the new fertiliser I bought. I was wondering if he had tested it yet. Want to get your brother back together?” If I go, I would see San for a bit...I MEAN, see my brother more and see Sungwoon and see Grandfather Ha. It isn’t all about San! “Uh, sure! Just let me...change!” The sentence had not been finished before your form disappeared up the staircase. The drive to Sungwoon’s place made you anticipated yet nervous for no apparent reason. After all, it was just your big brother and some of his close friends. Nothing else to it. For some reason, your hands shook as you closed the car door and walked into the house. “Go and get your brother.” Breathe. At first, San didn’t even look up from his phone when the door of Sungwoon’s bedroom opened but his head snapped up when he heard your melodious voice calling a greeting. A silly smile slipped onto his face as he bashfully waved back, trying not to garner Hojung’s attention. However, Hojung had already gotten a hunch on the interaction but he tried to brush it off. “Ahh, you know Dad won’t be leaving anytime soon. Join me, I’m winning anyway,” Hojung offered, holding up a game controller. He quickly went back to the game, yelling excitedly when you scored a goal against Taehyun and Sungwoon. San’s admiration for you only grew.
2 February 2018 11.28pm TEXT MESSAGES between HOJUNG and SUNGWOON Hojung: like what...do they think I’m blind or something...I get that this was bound to happen but idk how to feel Hojung: I know hyung is a good guy and all but I’m just unsure Hojung: am I being paranoid or mean? Sungwoon: Nah I don’t think so, you’re just looking out for your friends. It doesn’t hurt to be a nice guy like that Sungwoon: san is a nice guy and I’ll be honest and say I never saw it coming Sungwoon: I just need to know if it is genuine or if he’s just doing this for fun or something Hojung: I think they have been texting and meeting up privately bc she’s been quite shady and quiet about her ‘outings’ lately Hojung: idkkkk I’m just...kind of annoyed? Yet relieved that its hyung and not some creep Hojung: idw to lose any of my close friends bc of something like this you know? Sungwoon: I’d say maybe you should talk to them first! After all, it isn’t official right? They just have feelings but they haven’t said anything to each other Sungwoon: tbh it’s cute haha Sungwoon: I think they need to bond more before putting a label on anything. Feels that way. I don’t want anyone to make dumb mistakes with dating Hojung: I feel you. I think I just need time to absorb it. This feels like a pesky annoyance I can’t help it. I just want what is best for everyone Hojung: thanks, hyung, go and rest now. I’ll talk to them Sungwoon: sleep early as well, don’t stress about it 1.15am TEXT MESSAGES between HOJUNG and YOU Hojung: hey sis Hojung: hate to scare you and break it to you but I know about you and Yoonsan, he kind of told me personally today Hojung: don’t freak I know you guys aren’t dating but you can’t exactly hide anything from your big bro Hojung: ...honestly, I’m not sure how to react...knowing how close you both are to me. I’m glad to like a decent guy I suppose Hojung: talk to me about it okay? I just don’t want you to get hurt. Get to know each other a bit more. Hojung: good night, although you’re already sleeping. See you tomorrow 2.21am TEXT MESSAGES between HOJUNG and YOONSAN Hojung: hyung, sorry to text late but abt what you told me...I know how I feel about it Hojung: it’s so annoying Hojung: but I’m willing to accept it if you talk it out with me and her. You’re not a bad guy....hopefully. Please still be the same hyung I’ve known for most of my life. Hojung: I want you two to be real about it. No point dating if feelings are merely fabricated. I don’t need broken hearts and I can’t see my family get hurt, hear me? Hojung: ....just...talk to me and talk to her okay? See you tomorrow

Always Her Doctor, 3/5
John Tyler is a teacher at Farringham, but he’s been dreaming of another life–the life of an adventure known as the Doctor. When Marion Smith appears in Farringham, he’s immediately drawn to her. And why not? Marion Smith is the mirror image of Rose Tyler–the Doctor’s wife.
Reunion set during Human Nature/Family of Blood, with Christmas overtones.
This is part of @doctorroseprompts 31 Days of Ficmas. I used the word “Shiver.” This is part of my personal 31 Days of Ficmas. It’s also a fill for @legendslikestardust‘s general winter themed fics prompt.
Yes, this is now 5 chapters instead of 4. That’s where a big part of my trouble wtih this chapter lay--trying to shove too much into it. Thank you to @lastbluetardis for helping me work my way through it.
AO3 | FF.NET | Ch 1 | Ch 2
For the next two weeks, Rose felt like she was in a fairy tale. John Tyler was very definitely the Doctor, right down to his dislike of pears. But he was the Doctor if he’d forgotten all about his years of tragedy and had the social customs of Edwardian culture superimposed over his personality.
The day after their walk, he came to the library during the slow part of the afternoon and fumbled through a formal request to court her. His determination to be upfront about his intentions was nothing at all like the way she and the Doctor slid into romance without either of them admitting it, but his uncertainty of her acceptance was certainly familiar.
The biggest surprise to Rose was how much she enjoyed being courted by the man who was already her husband. The Doctor had a secret romantic streak that she’d discovered once they were together, and that was definitely evident in John as well. Every morning, he brought her a rose after his first class. Every afternoon after his last class, they bundled up and walked the countryside together, regardless of the weather.
The first time John pressed a kiss to the back of her hand, Rose’s heart started racing. She and the Doctor had shared far more than a simple kiss to the hand, but between the reserved culture and the three years that had passed since the last time they had made love, it felt unbelievably intimate.
It was the second week of December now, and the boys were studying hard for their end of term exams. Rose was too busy to leave the library to walk with John, but after the last boy left, she hurried down the hallway to his study.
She knocked twice, then let herself into the room as he’d instructed. John was straightening papers on his desk when she entered, and he looked up at her over the rim of his glasses.
His left eyebrow arched as he took in her appearance, and Rose reached up and tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear. “Sorry if I’m a little disheveled,” she told him. “I’ve been running my feet off, trying to find all the books the boys need.”
John stood up and gestured at the couch situated in front of his fireplace. Tea service was set out on the coffee table, and Rose’s mouth watered at the sight.
“You look lovely,” he said firmly. “But definitely like you could use a cuppa.”
“Oh, you have no idea,” Rose mumbled as he poured two cups. She placed a scone on a plate and split it open, spreading jam onto it.
“I think two weeks courting you is enough time to learn how dependent you are on tea,” he teased as he added milk to her cup and sugar to his.
Rose chuckled and took her cup. “Oh, you should see me in the morning before I get my first cuppa.”
When John made a strange choking noise and coughed a few times, Rose realised how suggestive that statement sounded in 1913. Her face turned hot and she tried to hide it behind her cup.
“I just meant… I’m useless in the morning before I have a cuppa,” she stammered.
His face was pink, but the corners of his eyes crinkled up when he smiled. “I doubt you’re useless, but maybe one day I’ll have a chance to find out for myself.”
The Doctor’s cheek and teasing smile paired with John’s reserve sorely tempted Rose to throw herself into his arms, and she looked quickly around the room for something to distract her. Her gaze landed on a slim leather-bound book sitting on the table.
“What’s that?” she asked, pointing at it.
To her surprise, John’s blush spread down his neck. “That’s… Well…” He tugged on his tie, then set his cup down and picked up the book. “I told you about my dreams, if you’ll remember.”
“A little bit,” Rose agreed. “About living another life, travelling through space?”
John tapped his fingers against the cover. “Time and space,” he corrected absently. “I suppose I didn’t mention that I also travel in time.”
Rose swallowed back a lump in her throat. “No, I think I would have remembered that,” she said, her voice soft with memories.
“Well… I’ve written some of my dreams down, in here.” He opened the book and started flipping through the pages. “I don’t know if you’re interested…” He found what he was looking for and marked the spot with a scrap of paper.
The uncertain expression on his face tugged at Rose’s heart. “I alway want to hear your stories, John,” she said sincerely. Whether he was John Tyler or the Doctor, she loved to listen to him talk about the places he’d been.
John’s ears turned red, and he rubbed at the back of his neck before handing her the journal. “Only the section I marked though,” he insisted before he let go of it.
“Of course,” she promised, and he finally let her have it.
Rose looked at the cover and traced over the title first. “A Journal of Impossible Things,” she read aloud. Then she flipped the slim volume open to the place John had indicated, about halfway through. She caught a fleeting glimpse of the earlier pages in the book and realised most of them were filled with sketches of her. Ah, no wonder he was so adamant that I not look through the rest of his journal.
When she reached the page he’d marked, there was a sketch of a young boy in a gas mask on one side, and the words “Everybody lives!” written in bold letters on the facing page. In the Doctor’s familiar scrawl, she read the story about the mysterious gold dust that was able to turn humans into monsters.
No mention of Captain Jack, she noticed wryly. She had to stifle a giggle—it would be impossible to explain to John that she was amused by her husband’s selective memory.
“So the gold dust saved them all in the end?” she asked when she got to the last few words of the story.
John nodded. “Everybody lives. Those are the best days…” He loved the smile on Marion’s face. “I sometimes think how magical life would be if stories like this were true.”
Marion hummed in agreement. “Other planets, and miraculous gold dust that can heal all wounds? It sounds like a fairy tale.” She smiled up at him. “I think I’d like to live in that world, though.”
John beamed at her. Of course Marion understood his dreams—she understood him, better than anyone else in the universe. The words were on the tip of his tongue, but he bit them back. It was still much too soon to go confessing his love.
He cleared his throat and gestured at the journal. “The Doctor has a good life. Flying through time and space, seeing the universe, helping people along the way… There’s a bit of trouble now and then of course, but it always works out in the end.”
“Oh, I think trouble is just the bits in between,” Marion countered.
She handed the journal back to John before he could recover from once again hearing her repeat words straight out of his dream. He tried so hard to keep Rose and Marion separate in his mind, and moment like this made it almost impossible.
“John?”
He blinked and realised that Rose—no, Marion—had stood up. “Hmmm?”
“It’s time for supper. Are you going down?”
John looked at the clock on the mantel. Somehow, it was already six o’clock. “Ah. Yes, of course.” Marion waited while he pulled his suit coat on, then they walked down to the dining room together.
“So tomorrow I was thinking we could take a walk in the evening, after dinner,” John said. “There’s a meteor shower happening right now, and I’d love to look at the stars with you.”
There was a long pause before Marion answered, and her voice sounded strained when she spoke. “I would love that, John.” She smiled at him as they started down the stairs.
On the landing, a large, red invitation pinned to the bulletin board caught John’s eye. His eyes widened when he realised he’d forgotten to do one very important thing. “The village Christmas dance is the day after tomorrow.”
“Mm-hmm,” Marion agreed.
“Would you… That is, I had hoped you would go with me. But it just occurred to me that I never asked.” He rubbed at his neck and tried to avoid Marion’s gaze.
To his surprise, instead of answering, she giggled. “Oh, John,” she said fondly when he looked up at her. “I suppose you should have asked, but I’d already assumed we were going together.”
Relief swept through him. “You had?”
She nodded, then the tip of her tongue peeked out from behind her teeth as she gave him a cheeky smile. “I even have a new dress, just for the occasion.”
oOoOo
The chill December wind cut through Rose’s coat as she crept across the frozen field to the TARDIS. The sun wouldn’t rise for more than an hour yet, and even when it came up, it wouldn’t offer much warmth.
The TARDIS wasn’t much warmer, but she was warm enough for Rose’s cheeks to thaw. She knew it was risky, coming to visit the ship when they were supposed to be hiding, but she couldn’t leave the old girl alone.
Rose pulled off her glove and rested her bare hand on a strut. Hello, dear. She waited, and a moment later, she got the softest hum in reply. Just two more weeks, then we’ll be home. Oh, I’ve missed you.
She didn’t linger long. If her presence was missed at the school, it would be hard to explain where she’d been. But two weeks living under an alias had put a strain on her, and she just needed a moment to be Rose Tyler with someone who really knew her.
The ship’s hum echoed in her mind, surrounding her like a hug. Then it seemed to urge her to the door. Go, Wolf. You’ll be home soon.
After leaving, Rose patted the blue wooden door one last time, then set out through the misty grey dawn to go back to her made-up life.
oOoOo
John whistled Christmas carols as he left the library. He’d given Marion her rose, and this morning, she’d given him a book in exchange. A complete history of Cardiff hadn’t struck him as a very interesting topic, but her warm brown eyes had sparkled when she handed it to him.
“You should read over the section about the Christmas disaster,” she’d told him, indicating the page she’d marked.
Then she’d looked around, and after seeing they were alone, she’d risen up on her toes and pressed a quick kiss to his cheek. When John had put his hand to the spot and looked at her in astonishment, she blushed prettily.
“I just want you to know,” she’d whispered. “I’m so glad I met you.” She’d bitten her lip, then quickly added, “This you, now.”
A group of boys had entered the library before he could reply. He wanted to know what she’d meant by the last, cryptic remark, but she hurried over to help the pupils, and he’d waved to her and left without a word.
The door to his study was ajar when he arrived, and he greeted Martha absently as he entered the room.
“What do you have there, sir?” she asked as she dusted the mantel. She seemed to spend a lot of time dusting that particular location, but perhaps there was something about it that collected dust.
John sat down in front of the fireplace and flipped the book open to the chapter Rose had marked for him. “A book on the history of Cardiff,” he said as he skimmed the chapter on the Christmas disaster.
“Of Cardiff?” Martha turned quickly, her duster waving in the air as she moved.
John looked at up at her, and he had to bite back a smile at the disdain on her face. “Yes, Cardiff,” he replied calmly. “Marion wanted me to read about the Christmas explosion in 1869.”
“Yeah, of course she did.” Martha put her hands on her hips and glanced around the room. “Well, I think I’m done, Mr. Tyler. Will you be taking tea alone today, or shall I bring up a tray for two like I did yesterday?”
“Just me today, Martha. Thank you.” John flipped the book back open and settled in to read.
oOoOo
“Oh, it is freezing out here!” Martha exclaimed as she carried hers and Jenny’s drinks back outside. “Why can’t we have a drink inside the pub?” She’d been looking forward to this night out, but she’d forgotten that they wouldn’t be sitting inside, warmed by the pub’s cheery fire.
Jenny laughed and shook her head. “Now, don’t be ridiculous,” she admonished.
“I’m not being ridiculous,” Martha said hotly. Normally she’d try to stay quiet, but the daily reminders of how much the Doctor loved Rose Tyler were getting under her skin. She just couldn’t stand to be condescended to, not even by her friend. “We don’t deserve to be treated like this, Jenny. We’re people, just like those men.”
Jenny narrowed her eyes, and Martha had the uncomfortable sensation that she was being studied. A gust of wind swept through the garden and an owl hooted in the background while Martha waited for Jenny to say something.
Finally, Jenny said, “I think I know what’s really upsetting you, and it isn’t sitting out in the cold.”
Martha shifted on the rough wooden bench and pulled her coat tighter around herself. “Because that’s not enough?”
Jenny shook her head. “You’ve been upset for at least a week now… but I think it’s more like two weeks, ever since Miss Smith arrived.”
Martha could feel her face grow hot, and she took a drink of her beer to hide her red cheeks.
“See, I knew it.” Jenny leaned back and crossed her arms over her chest, a smirk on her face. “You tried to say you only cared about Mr. Tyler because he was kind to you, but I knew there was more to it than that.”
“No, I just…” Martha sighed and looked up at the sky. “I just want to go home,” she whispered.
It was the first time she’d admitted it to herself. Travelling with the Doctor was never supposed to be a permanent arrangement, not for her. She had a life back in her own time, a life where she didn’t constantly feel like second best.
Plus, the longer I’m away the harder it will be to pass my exams, she reminded herself.
A green light pulsed in the sky, and Martha straightened up, all thoughts of the Doctor and Rose and what would happen when they left 1913 forgotten.
“Did you see that?”
Jenny looked up at the sky, then back at Martha. “See what?”
The light had faded, but Martha knew what she’d seen. It had looked just like all those supposedly faked pictures of people spotting alien landings.
She got to her feet, still staring at the sky. “Did you see it, though? Right up there, just for a second.”
“Martha, there’s nothing there.”
Familiar voices drifted towards them, coming down the road in the direction of the school. Martha narrowed her eyes and peered into the darkness, and she wasn’t surprised when Mr. Tyler and Rose came around a bend in the road.
“It was a light, John, a bright green light,” Rose insisted. She spotted Martha and pointed at the sky. “Did you see it, Martha?”
Martha nodded. Mr. Tyler sighed in amused exasperation, but the four of them all looked up at the sky, waiting for another sign that Martha and Rose weren’t just seeing something.
Their patience was rewarded a moment later when a streak of light crossed the horizon. Jenny gasped. “Oh, that’s beautiful.”
Rose turned to Mr. Tyler, tugging gently on his arm. “There, you see,” she said, and Martha suspected she was the only one who could hear the urgency under her teasing voice. “I wasn’t imagining things, John.”
Mr. Tyler smiled at her. “I never said you were, Marion. Just that it couldn’t possibly be aliens like the Doctor encounters.” He winked at her, then looked at all three women. “It was a meteor,” he explained. “Just rocks falling to the ground, that’s all.”
Martha and Rose exchanged a glance, then Rose looked back at the sky. “It looked like it came down in the woods,” she said. “That’s the direction it was going, at least.”
Mr. Tyler shook his head. “No, no, no. No, they always look close, when actually they’re miles off. Nothing left but a cinder.”
Rose pursed her lips. She couldn’t explain it, but she knew that hadn’t been just a meteor. And while it could be a coincidence that aliens had just landed close to where the Doctor was hiding, she wouldn’t bet on it.
Years of Torchwood training came to the fore, and the only thing that kept her from haring across the fields to check it out was the certainty that John would follow her if she did. If the Family had found them, the last thing she wanted to do was lead him straight to them.
She shivered at the thought. John must have felt it, because a moment later, he dropped her hand and draped his own scarf around her neck. “You’re shivering, darling,” he murmured, forgetting their audience for a moment. “I should get you back to the school.”
He stepped back and turned slightly to address Martha and Jenny. “Would either of you ladies like an escort back?”
Martha shook her head. “No, we’re fine, thanks.”
Rose raised her eyebrows, and Martha gave a very small nod. The knot of tension between her shoulder blades eased. If she couldn’t be the one to explore the impact site, having Martha go was the next best option.
John tipped his hat to Martha and Jenny. “Then we shall bid you goodnight.”
The walk back to the school was mostly silent. It had gotten too cold to talk comfortably, but beyond that, Rose’s mind was completely focused on the possibility that they’d been discovered. She was drawing up escape plans in her mind, going over possible contingencies and evaluating the danger of each to civilian life.
They were almost to the gates when John pulled her to a stop. “I said I wanted to show you the stars,” he said softly when Rose looked up at him. “This isn’t the vantage point I had in mind, but it will do.”
He leaned against the stone wall and pulled her close, wrapping his arms around her waist and resting his cheek against her temple. Rose closed her eyes and took a deep breath. John didn’t smell exactly like the Doctor—there was a faint scent of paper and ink clinging to him after days spent writing and grading papers—but under everything else, there was still something familiar about the way he smelled.
“Look, Marion.” John raised an arm and pointed across the open field. Hundreds of stars glittered on the inky expanse. “Can you imagine being out there, walking across alien worlds?”
A meteor shot across the sky before Rose could answer. She rested her hands on top of John’s and squeezed. “Make a wish,” she whispered.
He sighed, and a moment later, she felt his lips brush against her temple. The bond flared in response to the contact, and they both sucked in a breath.
“I already have what I wished for,” John said, his voice husky. “Marion…”
She turned and put her hands on his chest, over where his hearts would be if he weren’t human. “Yes, John.”
“Is it too early… Two weeks isn’t long enough…”
Rose’s breath caught in her throat when she realised what he was trying to say. “Maybe not for some people, but I was looking for you for so long…”
A shaft of moonlight illuminated John’s face, and she could see the wonder in his eyes. “I dreamt about you,” he admitted. “You’re there, in the Doctor’s life. No, you are the Doctor’s life. And then… you were gone, and he was lost.”
Rose pressed her lips together to hold back a sob. She didn’t know exactly which memories of their life together had seeped through into John’s dreams, but she knew the pain of that separation all too well.
He lifted his hand and a moment later, his cool glove touched her cheek as he brushed a strand of hair back over her ear. “In two weeks, you’ve become just as important to me as Rose is to the Doctor. You… you understand me, Marion. You know the things about me that I’ve never told anyone. And I…”
He closed his eyes and Rose held her breath, waiting. When he opened them, the tenderness in his gaze was so familiar that she ached. And she’d seen it recently, she realised. She’d seen it last week, when he’d helped her over a log blocking the road. Two days ago, when he’d handed her a deep red rose. And tonight, when he’d tied an extra scarf around her neck.
“And you?” she prompted. Her hands crept up over his shoulders to link loosely behind his neck.
He reached up and cupped her face between his hands. “And I love you.”
The words obviously came more easily to John than they had the Doctor, but everything else about the moment was familiar. They’d been alone then, too, staring up at the stars being pulled into a black hole. And in the quietness, he’d whispered those words so softly that Rose almost hadn’t believed her ears.
She whispered his name and repeated the words, just like she had on Krop Tor. And just like that night, he leaned down and pressed his lips to hers.

Summary: When Rose Tyler was little, she always wrote a Christmas wish list to Father Christmas. As she grew older, the wish list became more of a letter to someone she could confide in once a year, but she fell out of the habit somewhere along the way. Now, as a new mum, celebrating her daughter’s first Christmas, Rose takes up writing her Christmas letter to Father Christmas once again.
Rose’s Christmas letters are excerpts from her life with her beloved Tentoo and their children in Pete’s World, written once a year, for each of 31 years.
Notes:
Part of my These Two Hearts series
Written for prompts provided by @doctorroseprompts over on Tumblr for their 31 Days of Ficmas celebration. I’ve played with the order of the prompts a bit, but I intend to use them all.
This will be a huge challenge for me. For those of you who know me well, you’ll know I am not a fast writer. To post one of these every day for 31 days will be pushing me well and truly to my limits. They may not all get posted on time, but they will get posted. Promise.
My eternal thanks to my brilliant betas @rose–nebula and mrsbertucci for picking up on the things I miss and for chivvying me along. ((((hugs))))
Today’s prompt is Candles. Please enjoy.
Chapter Summary: When Rose and the Doctor decide to spend the December Earth-bound, tensions and insecurities surface.
Chapter Notes: The song the Doctor plays is Christmas Without You, by a very dear friend of mine, Tori Hathaway

Dear Father Christmas,
We decided to come back to Earth early this year and spend Christmas in our little blue house. I love the exploring and adventures, and not that I would ever want to give up the traveling, but sometimes I just miss the simplicity of being Earthbound. Sometimes I miss my beans-on-toast life. And I miss the house. There are so many memories we made there. It wasn’t easy to convince the Doctor to take an extended shore leave. It took a lot of persuading (and there were lots of rows), but eventually he agreed this would be a good holiday for all of us.
And it has been good… mostly... I suppose. We’ve been here a month now, and I’ve been settling right in to a proper domestic life: baking biscuits and decorating the house for Christmas. The Doctor’s been champing at the bit, though. Restless, he is. We’ve both been helping out at Torchwood, and that’s kept him somewhat entertained, rummaging through all the new artifacts that’ve turned up. But I caught him wiring one up to the TARDIS, last week. He nicked it! Slipped it out, right past security! I insisted he had to take it back. Blimey, what a lot of whinging there was. Eventually he did as I told him, but he did it on his own terms: he told Dad he was just checking the security systems, seeing if he could get away with it, and clearly security wasn’t “up to snuff”. So now, not only have I been hauled in as a consultant to review the current security policies and suggest upgrades right before Christmas, but I have to listen to that plonker use his new favourite catchphrase, “up to snuff”, at every possible opportunity.
Well, hopefully his Christmas gift will be up to snuff. I convinced Dad to give me the gadget he’d filched. Of course, I had to go through a pile of paperwork to get it released, and all kinds of scans and safety checks, owing to the upgraded security procedures that I was stupid enough to suggest. All I can say is he better appreciate everything I went through to get this for him.
Hope’s been enrolled with the nursery group at Torchwood while we’re both at work. That caused another row between me and the Doctor. He wanted her with him, exploring all the artifacts and “helping out” in the labs, conducting experiments. I mean, I get it, she’s a smart cookie, but she’s only twenty-one months old! And when we’re on the TARDIS, that’s okay. I mean she’s learning about aliens and the universe and stuff, and that’s great, but I’m worried she isn’t learning how to be human. She needs to interact with other children her own age, and not just blue bubble-children from Bluftrig 4.
So, of course, the first few days of nursery were awful: tears and tantrums. And that was just the Doctor. Fuck! (oh, God, sorry Santa! Excuse my language!) But seriously, I’ve never heard so many I-told-you-sos in my whole fucking life. We had a full-on domestic right in front of the nursery doors, about a week in, over Hope not getting along. It wasn’t pretty, and I’m kind of embarrassed by the whole thing, to be honest. Anyway, Hope took it upon herself to toddle in and start reading stories to the other children whilst we shouted down the walls. Just as well, because the nursery supervisor called security on us (and naturally, they cited more of the new regulations at us…) and Dad hauled us up to his office to rake our arses over the coals. He put a formal reprimand in both our files, and as soon as we got home, Mum called and started in on us.
God, it’s been frustrating. We’re supposed to be hosting Christmas tomorrow and I don’t know how we’re expected to pull that off when we’re barely talking to one another. I didn’t think being grounded for a bit would be so stressful. I guess I overestimated the Doctor’s ability to adapt. He did fine before we had our TARDIS up and running. Now, it’s like he resents me… us. I know it sounds ridiculous, but I’m seriously afraid he’ll run off, or something, with Hopie, and I’ll never… never see…
Blimey, this letter got off track. I swore I wouldn’t cry. I must look a sight, and I’ve got to run. The nursery is doing a little “Frosty the Snowman” play with the “four and up” children. (We eventually decided to put Hope into that group as she seems to do better with the older kids.) She’s doing all the narration! I decided it’d be easier just to stay here at Torchwood until it started (so I’m dictating this letter from work.) The Doctor went home. He said he saw the dress-rehearsal this afternoon. He sounded a bit chuffed about Hopie’s performance, but said he thought it would best if he just stayed away tonight. He’s probably right. We’d just have had another row. Mum’s meeting me here, which I’m dreading. No doubt, she’ll have a go at me about the Doctor, and I don’t think I’ll be able to take it.
I wonder if everything will be better when we go off in the TARDIS again. I doubt it. I don’t really think this is about him being Earth-bound. What if he doesn’t love… I mean he’s slept alone in his study for the last two weeks. We used to be a team. We did everything together and now we... I miss him, Santa.
(Right, pull it together, Tyler.)
Santa, I’m signing off. You don’t need to hear all my crap. It seems the things I really want for Christmas these days aren’t things you can give me. And this year, I just want our little family to be a family again. Thanks for listening, anyway. I hope you and Mrs. Claus and the reindeer and elves have a lovely Christmas.
Love, Rose
P.S.: I just had to give you an update! Mum drove me and Hope home after the play (Hope was brilliant, by the way! Stole the show!) Anyway, Mum was really quiet the whole way, which was kind of unnerving; I was expecting a lot more shouting. So when she pulls up to the house, I get out and she says she’ll bring Hopie in. And I’m just up the steps, fumbling with my keys, when she speeds off down the drive. There was nothing much I could do about it. Hope was safe with her Gran… but I had to be alone with the Doctor. God, I was dreading opening the door; I’d rather have faced the entire Slitheen family than the man I loved with all my heart. I remember thinking there were pretty good odds he was holed up in his study, and I could sneak upstairs before he even knew I was home. I obviously was a bit delusional, ‘cause looking back, it was clear I’d been set up. Big time!
So I tried to sneak in, but there he was, standing right there waiting for me. It’s still all so clear in my mind. He had candles lit everywhere, and the fire was going, and I could smell something delicious coming from the kitchen. He was playing a really pretty Christmas song, Christmas Without You, I think it’s called. It all reminded me of the time when he was trying to apologize to me a few years back, after he refused to come to our first ultrasound appointment. When he finds an approach that works for him, he sticks with it, I’ll give him that.
Course, I come straight out and ask him what the hell’s going on. I was really, really trying to be pissed off, but he was standing there wearing that bloody red cashmere sweater I gave him last year, and his hair was so fucking touchable, and his beard was this gorgeous scruffy stubble, and that pouty lower lip… guuuuhh, you should have seen him! Then, he just holds out his hands to me, and tells me we need to talk.
Well he got that right!
We didn’t exactly talk though… not right away. But we made good use of the nice soft rug in front of the fireplace, and we might have said something about how much we missed each other, and we both said “sorry” and “I love you”. And then, I couldn’t help it: I blurted out how sometimes I was frightened he would leave me. He vowed he never, ever would. He was so upset I had ever thought he might, he was crying. We both were, actually.
Well, Mum brought Hope back after a bit, and looked a little too happy to see me dressed in nothing but the red cashmere, and didn’t even try to wind up the Doctor about only wearing his pants. She said she would’ve given us the whole night but reckoned we wanted to have Hope spend Christmas morning at home with us.
After Hope hung her stocking and finally fell asleep (it took four chapters of Treasure Island and a reading of Twas the Night Before Christmas to settle her she was so excited), me and the Doctor finally got around to eating that fantastic dinner he’d made, and we really talked. Turns out he thinks I’m right: we should spend more time on Earth for Hope’s sake, for all of us. Not all the time, but more than we have been. He reckons being stuck with me and Hope here on Earth’s not so bad. We decided we’d just play it by ear and work out the details as we go along.
Looks like it’s going to be a happy Christmas after all!

A new dashboard to consider for signs of a new market cycle
Chuck Noland, Tom Hanks’ character in the movie Cast Away, may have perfectly captured the mood we need to bring to these challenging times, when he said, “I gotta keep breathing. Because tomorrow the sun will rise. Who knows what the tide could bring?”
In keeping with that positive, forward-looking mindset, we are initiating our Roadmap to Recovery: Start of the New Cycle dashboard. The dashboard highlights the indicators we will be watching to determine the efficacy of the policy responses to the coronavirus—medical, monetary, and fiscal—and to assess whether a new business and market cycle is emerging. In our view, the path to a new cycle would become evident from 6 key indicators.
Source: Novel Coronavirus data is daily from December 31, 2019 to March 24, 2020. Source: WHO and FactSet Research Systems.
China’s number of news cases has peaked, but the number globally continues to increase. A bending in the curve of new cases will be a critical first step towards resuming economic activity.
Source: Bloomberg, as of March 24, 2020. 5y5y Forward Breakeven is a measure of expected inflation (on average) over the five-year period that begins five years from today. The DXY Index is an index of the value of the United States dollar relative to a basket of foreign currencies, often referred to as a basket of U.S. trade partners’ currencies. Indexes are unmanaged and cannot be purchased directly by investors. Past performance does not guarantee future results.
In our view, deflation is the worst of all outcomes for risk assets because as prices fall then profits fall and then wages fall, and the vicious cycle begins anew. We are watching for signs that the massive policy support helping to stabilize inflation expectations and ease the strength of the US dollar.
Source: FactSet Research Systems, as of March 24, 2020. The Bloomberg Commodity Index is calculated to reflect commodity price movements across a variety of commodities. Indexes are unmanaged and cannot be purchased directly by investors. Past performance does not guarantee future results.
We are watching commodity prices for signs that policy support is stabilizing the dollar and easing the pressure on the commodity complex as well as for an indication that economic activity is beginning to resume.
Sources: Barclays Live, 3/24/20. The Bloomberg Barclays U.S. Aggregate Bond Index is designed to measure the performance of investment grade bonds in the United States. The Bloomberg Barclays High Yield Index is designed to measure the performance of high yield (below investment grade) bonds in the United States. Option Adjusted Spread (OAS) is a measure of the spread (or difference in yield) between a bond index in this case and Treasuries of comparable maturities. Indexes are unmanaged and cannot be purchased directly by investors. Past performance does not guarantee future results.
The corporate bond market is often viewed as the “canary in the coal mine” for the global economy and the equity markets. True to form, spreads have widened significantly during this period of significant economic and financial market disruption. The Federal Reserve is providing significant support to the corporate bond market and the federal government is actively working to provide support to the nation’s businesses. We are watching for signs that conditions are easing, and corporate bond spreads are steadying.
Source: Bloomberg, as of March 20, 2020. The bond market is represented by long-term Treasuries; the stock market, by the S&P 500. The S&P 500 Index is a market-capitalization-weighted index designed to measure large capitalization stocks in the United States. Past performance does not guarantee future results.
The bond market continues to do better than US stocks. We think a turn in the stock to bond ratio would be a positive signal that investors and the market are beginning to price in a resumption in economic activity.
Source: Data represent what direction members feel the stock market will be in over the next 6 months. American Association of Individual Investors (AAII Survey), as of March 20, 2020.
Markets have been pessimistic overall, to varying degrees, since the contagion became global. There is no sign we have reach peaked pessimism yet, but a bottoming in equity allocation tends to be a positive sign for markets.
Conclusion: A positive note
On a positive note, we saw modest improvement amid a sizeable policy response on the monetary and fiscal side on March 24 that helped inflation expectations, the dollar, commodity prices, and credit spreads all start to move modestly in the right direction. While this isn’t an all clear signal, we will be watching closely for more signs of improvement from here.
We will be monitoring these indicators daily and will be sending out regular updates.
Important Information
A credit spread is the difference between Treasury securities and non-Treasury securities that are identical in all respects except for quality rating.
The stock-bond ratio is calculated by dividing the S&P 500 divided by the U.S. Long-Term Treasury Bond Index. As the ratio rises, stocks do better than bonds, and that can be considered evidence of a coming recovery.

Forward-looking statements are not guarantees of future results. They involve risks, uncertainties and assumptions; there can be no assurance that actual results will not differ materially from expectations.
Commodities may subject an investor to greater volatility than traditional securities such as stocks and bonds and can fluctuate significantly based on weather, political, tax, and other regulatory and market developments. In general, stock values fluctuate, sometimes widely, in response to activities specific to the company as well as general market, economic and political conditions. Fixed-income investments are subject to credit risk of the issuer and the effects of changing interest rates. Interest rate risk refers to the risk that bond prices generally fall as interest rates rise and vice versa. An issuer may be unable to meet interest and/or principal payments, thereby causing its instruments to decrease in value and lowering the issuer’s credit rating.

Well, since you asked me for all, Imma do the same XD... (If you don't wanna do all, then just 3,19,26,43,56... and if possible maybe 1? :D )
lol i knew asking all of that from you was gonna come bite me in the ass. i’m gonna try and answer all of them. *takes in deep breath*
let’s begin.
get to know me, pick some numbers.
1. selfie
Neither do I like selfies, nor do I like my face (the latter is mainly the reason for the former) so here’s a pic of my cockatiel instead
His name is Cookie and he’s the spawn of satan.
2. what would you name your future kids?
My first-born will be called Naruto Naruto and my second-born will be called Hououin Kyouma.
I honestly haven’t given much thought to this fjgsdhgdjfhs
3. do you miss anyone?
My will to live. Itachi.
4. what are you looking forward to?
Finishing all of my WIPs lmao. They’re just sitting there. Waiting…
5. is there anyone who can always make you smile?
I make myself smile all the time hahahaha
hahaha
hah
I need friends
6. is it hard for you to get over someone?
Not really.
7. what was your life like last year?
Extremely depressing tbh
8. have you ever cried because you were so annoyed?
Yeah, a lot of times.
9. who did you last see in person?
My cousin sister.
10. are you good at hiding your feelings?
Very.
11. are you listening to music right now?
If my screaming Cockatiel counts as music then yeah I’m listening to music.
12. what is something you want right now?
My assignment to complete itself on its own pls.
13. how do you feel right now?
a’ight.
14. when was the last time someone of the opposite sex hugged you?
Last December LOL.
15. personality description
I seem shy at first but once approached, I am one of the coolest people you’ll ever meet. Okay, not the coolest, but like somewhere between cool and yeah-i-think-i-can-stand-your-presence-for-more-than-two-seconds. I am sarcastic to a fault and I have the weirdest sense of humour. I never ‘like’ anything, I become fully obsessed with it. I am sort of a perfectionist, so that keeps me from doing stuff. I am kind of an introvert, but I do love meeting new people and visiting new places.
16. have you ever wanted to tell someone something but you didn’t?
Yeah I want to tell my bird to SHUT THE FUCK UP, but I can’t ‘cause he has a bird-brain and he doesn’t understand shit. (but i love him so much)
17. opinion on insecurities.
Ooh boy I’ve had a lot of insecurities in the past (and still may have some) but like none of that is real and sometimes it happens to be all in your head and it doesn’t really matter what others might think of those insecurities when they see you. All you need is some fake-confidence to carry yourself around, and before you know it, that confidence becomes real very and you start to accept the things you don’t really have control over. Insecurities mean shit.
Too hipster for you?
18. do you miss how things were a year ago?
Absolutely not.
19. have you ever been to New York?
Haha I wish.
20. what is your favourite song at the moment?
All the Naruto and Naruto Shippuden opening songs. I’ll Be Good by Jaymes Young
21. age and birthday?
do I have to?? and 24th Jan.
22. description of crush.
Tall-ish, Dark, long hair. Really talented and was super smart as a kid. Has eye bags. Killed his entire family, slaughtered innocents, and tortured and manipulated his younger brother. Was a member of a criminal organisation. Thought like a Hokage at the age of seven. A work of art.
23. fear(s)
Oh boy do heights freak me out.
24. height
5′8″
25. role model
Don’t really have one.
26. idol(s)
him…
don’t really have one
27. things i hate
I won’t be saying any names but Donald Trump, if you’re reading this…
28. i’ll love you if…
you fit the description in answer 22 above.
29. favourite film(s)
Koe no Katachi (changed my life tbh), the Star Wars series, that latest Tom Holland superhero movie idk if you’ve heard of it :\, Dead Poets’ Society, all Marvel movies except the second Avengers movie which sadly doesn’t exist :(, and Chris Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy. I am not much of a movie person tbh.
30. favourite tv show(s)
not to be the epitome of mainstream cringe culture but Supernatural, Doctor Who, and Sherlock lmao. Also, I absolutely love Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Friends, Breaking Bad, the first two and the only seasons of Arrow (the rest don’t exist for me sorry jfskdjh), Daredevil, and there must be more that I’m missing but for now I’m gonna stop here.
31. 3 random facts
— As a kid, I thought every animal was a car. A dog? Weird cat. A cow? Big, fat cat. A fish? Cat that can breath under water.
— I am super bad at playing the piano even though I’ve been learning* it for years.
— I have always been fascinated by stars, for as long as I can remember.
* : In this context, the word “learning” refers to going for classes for a month and then dropping it for a year, and then starting classes again just to give up, and then looking up tutorials on YouTube just to cry over the piano keys because you suck so much.
32. are your friends mainly girls or guys?
Girls. But I find it easier to befriend guys for some reason.
33. something you want to learn
The fucking piano.
34. most embarrassing moment
Not gonna say much except these few words: first time periods, school, white uniform skirt, seniors.

38. favourite comedian(s)
I don’t really know many comedians, but I really like Russell Peters. He’s hilarious af.
39. favourite sport(s)
Volleyball (thanks to a certain anime), basketball (even though I gave up the sport), and lawn tennis (even though I have hardly played this).
40. favourite memory
Don’t know her.
41. relationship status
Don’t know her either.
42. favourite book(s)

Anime, books, writing (not on laptops or phones or computers, but like, writing), hanging out with me friends, shitposting on Tumblr
54. something thats worrying me at the moment
This assignment that’s due tomorrow.
55. tumblr friends
ooh ooh ooh there’s the mutuals I love talking to and ranting with aka @fineillsignup, @thefewthemerrier, @teenagetreepatrol, @narusakuloverforever, @obsessed-lass and then there are the mutuals whose ship(s) I don’t agree with but they’re literally one of the most awesome people I’ve met on this @sasukeuchihayas, @mycherryqueen. Then there are the mutuals I don’t “talk” to but we always like/reblog/comment on each other’s stuff and send each other asks sometimes like @uzumakura, @winter-serenade, @asiantwinkies. There’s @hanaita who is too good for this world. And then, of course, there is you @mirai-no-yume sending me asks and have nothing but the nicest things to say.
56. favourite food(s)
Starts with piz ends with za.
57. favourite animal(s)
Any animal except this screeching monster in front of me (jk cookie ily 2)

‘Look at him. Just look at him! With his stupid novelty flavours and his stupid artsy signs and his stupid muscles and his stupid smile.’ Scott snorts. ‘What?’ Stiles asks, turning away from the window. ‘That’s the fastest you’ve ever gone from insulting to complimenting,’ Scott says. ‘I am not complimenting our nemesis! I'm assessing his assets so I know where to strike.’

The hairs on the back of Stiles’ neck tingle, and he swallows hard against the unmistakable sensation of someone staring at him. He’s tempted to just ignore it, but after a few seconds, his curiosity wins out and he looks up from his phone instead. He doesn’t notice anything right away, flicking his gaze along the people on the other side of the intersection until he suddenly stops and backtracks. It’s a little hard to see, what with the thick drizzle and the cars whizzing between them, but he would recognize that glorious bearded face anywhere, even after six years. Holy shit.

“Oh,” Stiles said, his voice coming out low and breathy, “fuck me.”
“I don’t think that’s on the syllabus, but we can check to see if there’s a spot open in any of his classes,” Scott said, grinning.
“This isn’t an actual professor, though,” Stiles insisted, unable to resist brushing his thumb over the sharp line of the man’s bearded jaw. He was laughing at something off-camera, the shot taken in three-quarters view, his coat collar casually rumpled and opened to reveal a sliver of a simple grey t-shirt. The whole thing was deliberately calculated to lend him a more accessible feel, and god help him, Stiles was falling for it.
*
When Stiles signed up for Dr. Hale’s intro to history class, he had two goals: knock out the credits his advisor was bugging him to complete before he graduated, and spend a few hours a week daydreaming about his sexy professor’s salt and pepper beard.
Derek, a few months away from turning forty and not sure when his life had started feeling so damn lonely, had never encountered someone like Stiles before. Bright-eyed, sharp-tongued, determined to throw Derek’s carefully cultivated world into disarray…and absolutely the last person Derek should be falling in love with.

“Stop! Just stop it please—STOP!” Stiles screams, fists banging against the wall, his voice hoarse from his pleas.
The thick concrete wall (built with mountain ash, Derek tried punching through it several times) separating their cells stood between them, the only constant within the bleak four walls that caged them in. He was covered in blood, sweat, dirt, and everything inbetween. His mouth tastes vile and he can’t remember the last time he inhaled a breath of fresh air.
Derek had been keeping tally marks on the wall with his claws, it was the only way to tell how many days had passed. It’s been two days, or at least one, Stiles doesn’t know. The reason he doesn’t know is because two days ago (or one?) hunters entered Derek’s cell and did something to him, something to cause him to scream and growl in pain for the last twenty, thirty, hell forty something hours.
Werewolves were strong, but Stiles didn’t know if Derek had much left in him.

The funny thing is, Derek didn’t even want to go. He’d paced around his loft staring down at his cell phone and debated calling Boyd back, refusing, he had work tomorrow, some people had legitimate jobs they had to get to in the morning. He knew Boyd would show up anyway so he figured there wasn’t a point to pointing out just how absolute shit Derek was at actually socializing.
So, that’s how he’d gotten dragged to ‘Python’ in the first place, and he was definitely not even touching that name. It was loud, as was to be expected, Go Go boys dancing along the stage that wound itself around the edges of the club. It smelled like booze and cheap cologne and Boyd had laughed openly at the look of hostile displeasure Derek knew must be plastered across his face.

Stiles watches Derek sometimes. When he’s in the living room, Patrick lying on his chest like a tiny newborn extension of the two of them. Stiles leans against the doorframe and crosses his arms over his chest and just watches. He knows that Derek feels him nearby, but Derek doesn’t move, doesn’t let on that he knows Stiles is there at all.
There’s no one else in the world except Derek and his cub.

Lotus Breeze, chapters 10-14

10.
December is painfully long, and in the beginning of the finals, tests and other bustle Peridot wants to bite each person, who once sarcastically joke about the "hot night", because Lapis-motherfucker-Lazuli absolutely doesn't know how to calculate the strength of her bites, and hickey on her neck (size of a ping-pong ball) can't be hidden even with concealer.
But there was nothing between them, they aren't teenagers who have reached the forbidden fruit and who need hot nights after the first kiss, they are adults who perfectly understand, that everything has its time. But people need to mock around, as if this is not a university, but a kindergarten for over-grown children.
Peridot clenches teeth and breaks a rule in the palm, already the third for December, and this time not even her own, but Steven, who lent her a pencil case. Connie prepares Steven for examinations at the school, and Peridot sometimes wants to trade with Steven, so she was told about everything with a cup of coffee too. But in these bloody finals Period needs to study three times as much, and help Lapis-motherfucker-Lazuli, who has a chance to fly out of the university, like a cork from a bottle of cheap champagne.
"Do you want me to beat all of them?" Lapis smiles and looks at the people around in an extremely friendly way.
Peridot is silent and looks like a beaten puppy. Lapis takes her hand and pulls along the long corridor to the exit, presumably to steal her from the last lesson and roll in the snow, and then watch how funny Peridot will shake and grumble.
Peridot turns to the right, and Lapis understands, that even she will have to go to the lesson, because "shit, show the teacher your face, Lapis, for the first time in a semester."
"Hey, Lazuli, found herself a nerd so as not to fly out of the university for skipping?"
The girls from the parallel group laugh, and, even if Lapis likes Peridot's grumpy face, right now this "joke" seems to her to be foul. With obvious intentions to polish a couple of faces she takes a step forward, but Peridot tightly squeezes her hand and doesn't let her go.
"But she, unlike you, will not be expelled." Peridot says mockingly and pulls Lapis into the audience.
Lapis can't find the right words for a couple of minutes.
"I adore you, you know?" she says in the end, and Peridot wearily puts her head on Lapis’ shoulder, breathes a simple "yep" and asks to wake her up as soon as the teacher comes in.
There is a week until the end of the finals.
Two weeks until the New Year.
And Peridot really wants to go through all of this.
11.
When the exams are passed, the tests are marked, and Lapis is sure that she wasn't expelled for skipping, everything more or less subsides, running stops, and all that Peridot wants now it's to sit with a blanket on her shoulders, and play the console all day long.
Steven has the same opinion, he passed the exams with difficulty, and because of him, Connie nearly failed her own exams. She spent a lot of time to explain to him the material that she herself knew for a long time. But Connie has an acceptable high mark, so that her parents are happy, and Steven has acceptable normal mark, so as not to worry about re-taking and enjoy the atmosphere of the approaching holiday. New Year in three days, gifts to all are bought and securely hidden.
A ticket home, to dad and relatives, are also bought.
"So when do you have your bus?" Peridot asks carelessly, without taking her eyes off the game.
"Tomorrow night. I'll be home in the morning."
"And don't you regret leaving your girlfriend alone for a holiday?.."
"She is not ..." Steven lowers the controller and looks thoughtfully at the ceiling; his car on the console screen graphically crashes into a pillar and explodes. "Peridot, what does "dating" mean?"
Peridot throws up her eyebrows in surprise, but doesn't get distracted from the game. She looks at the screen for a couple of minutes, and then sighs and pauses.
"I don't think I can answer you. Are we dating with Lapis? We live together. This isn't called "dating". Ask Lapis, maybe she'll tell you.”
Lapis, as if feeling that they are talking about her, appears in the room, crawls under the Peridot's blanket, and, listening the indignant "Laaaaapis, I'm going to lose the game" conveniently gets on Peridot's knees. Steven has already used to this and no longer tries to close his eyes, dump somewhere or simply be embarrassed. It's normal.
Lapis arches her back like a cat, stretching, and Peridot with all her endurance and patience tries to concentrate on the game, although this is DAMN difficult, oh god.
"Lapis, what does "dating" mean?" Steven's tone sounds like he asks "where do the children come from?", and Lapis chuckles, but thinks about it.
“"Dating" doesn't necessarily mean "love". A lot of people are dating just for the sake of some benefit. They say false phrases, and when the benefits are received, they disappear. I would choose the expression "the desire to be together." When you think about a person all your free time, when you want to hug him and say how much you miss him when he is not around.”
Steven sighs helplessly, staring at the ceiling, and Lapis smiles encouragingly.
"Hey, you're only sixteen. Don't think about that."
Steven would be glad not to think, but he can't. These feelings are completely new for him, and it seems to him that nothing will help him, except for a frank conversation face to face, when he returns after the holidays.
And he will prepare for it. Maybe even will write a song with his dad's help.
"And do you really miss me that much?" asks Peridot, still not losing the game, and Lapis seemed to have been waiting for this question all this time.
"Of course," she whispers languorfully in her ear, and the lettering "Game Over" on the whole screen doesn't make anyone wait.
12.
On the evening of December 31 Peridot regrets only that they don't live in a big house with a fireplace, near which you could lie on a bear's skin, looking at the fire and cuddling. Although you can cuddle sitting on a spread out couch, in front of a laptop with New Year comedies. Champagne is poured on ordinary mugs, because of the lack of beautiful glasses, but who cares, when you want to laugh, dance and jump to the ceiling.
Pi-pi-pi, the clock rings, showing that the first of January has come.
Pi-pi-pi, comes SMS with congratulations and indication of the place of the hidden gift from Steven.
They laugh, climb under the bed and take out a large parcel with a postcard, in which is written only "Be happy, Happy New Year!", and in the parcel - a big terry turquoise plaid, incredibly soft, and with painted starfish.
Peridot says that this is clearly a hint, and immediately throws plaid on their shoulders, right in the middle of the room, on the floor, completely not caring about anything else.
"It's weird," Peridot says thoughtfully, stretching her legs. "In September, I hardly knew you, and now you are the first person I see in the new year."
"And the first one you kiss," Lapis giggles, and Peridot melts, when lips touch gently.
It's hot not because of a plaid or champagne.
“By the way, by the way ...” Peridot doesn't want to get out from under the plaid, but it's New Year, it is necessary to give gifts, it's time, and she, overcoming herself, rises and gives a hand to Lapis. "Let's go."
Peridot leads her to Steven's room, to the closet, asks to stand in front of it and opens the door, and a huge fluffy soft cat falls into Lapis' hands, made of plush, and very, very nice. Lapis looks surprised and joyful at the same time, and Peridot hastens to explain this choice of gift.
"Ah, well ... You like to hug something in a dream, and I'll be on conferences in January-February for a week... Probably. So, it'll be comfortable for you to sleep without me.”
Lapis buries her face in a furry cloth and smiles happily. She is really happy - in her childhood toys were a rarity, especially so big ... It's a great feeling.
"Thank you," she whispers, unable to hold the smile. "It's lovely, I like it very much."
The cat occupies a place in a hammock, in which no one is asleep, and even in a small room a toy almost as tall as Peridot looks perfect, as if it always was there. Lapis appreciates this beauty, and then squeezes Peridot in embraces, because, dammit, she doesn't know where to put all these emotions.
"Well, now it's my turn to give out presents."
Lapis draws a small bag from her closet and hands it to Peridot.
The inscription "This adorable little nerd belongs to Lapis Lazuli" on a long green T-shirt gives Peridot a laugh and a strange desire whether to strangle Lapis or to confess in love for her again. T-shirt is long almost to the knee, it's more like in what you can sleep in, and Peridot is sure that Lapis thought exactly about it.
This inscription is not for someone at the university to know the obvious thing. It is for her to know and remember it herself.
It's in Lapis' style – to tease, but do it goddamn cute.
And her grin is like a confirmation.
"Great. I'll wear it on holidays," Peridot snorts, and Lapis has a very cunning look.
"It is a holiday today. Go on."
Peridot sighs, but rather for the note, shows the tongue and hides in the bathroom, leaving there already in a T-shirt, and Lapis almost catch a heart attack. Too. Mother. Of. God. Cute.
Lapis gulps down the remains of champagne from a mug, snaps the light switch and takes a deep breath. This night, no matter how long it will be, she isn't going to sleep.
13.
Peridot always has very strange and uncomfortable feelings without her clothes on. It seems to her that there is nothing attractive and special in her body to wear something open or walk around the house just in shorts, and every look in the mirror reminds her, that she is a complete mediocrity and nothing of herself. Peridot always wears jeans, a shirt with long sleeves, and hates summer, when it's hot and you need to undress or you'll die.
Waking up next to Lapis, Peridot at first doesn't understand what this feeling is, why it's a bit cold and ohmygod where are the clothes, and then she remembers the night, giving out nothing but a helpless embarrassed squeak.
That was… awesome. And though the hickeys on the neck (god, Lapis loves to leave them) won't disappear for a week, it seems to Peridot that she didn't feel anything more wonderful in her life. And it's not even about the first sex - it was, of course, important, but Peridot thinks that she never trusted anyone as much as to allow someone to touch her everywhere. And no one before this didn't allow her to do the same thing (although she never wanted to touch anyone, but with Lapis-too-fucking-cool-Lazuli it was impossible not to think about this).
Lapis peacefully sleeps next to her, pulling the blanket to the very top of her head, and Peridot remembers her yesterday's whisper in her ear, thin cold fingers under the T-shirt, lips on her neck and shoulders, and buries her face in the pillow, helplessly and happily chuckling. After an endless amount of shit in her life, after months of depression, and then months of "to confess or not," life finally rewarded her for everything.
And Lapis' feelings were the best reward for Peridot for everything.
Peridot as quietly as possible gets out of bed, trying not to wake Lapis, finds her new T-shirt in the corner of the room, dresses and sits down at the computer. It's almost three o'clock in the afternoon, and Peridot knows, that her body would just die to sleep until the evening, and that the head doesn't hurt - it is necessary to wake up normally. Lapis, of course, can sleep like a ferret all day, and Peridot doesn't intend to wake her up.
Lapis wakes up herself, sweetly yawns and blindly stumbles across the bed, looking for something to pull to her and hug. She finds a big soft cat, which Peridot prudently left in her place, and Lapis for a while lies in an embrace with it, and then looks piteously at Peridot, who diligently pretends, that she doesn't notice anything, except the page of the website.
"How does it feel?" with a foxy smile asks Lapis, sitting down in bed, covering her naked chest with a blanket, knowing full well that it isn't necessary, and Peridot tries not to blush, although she can't control this process.
"It was... Not bad."
"Not bad? At "not bad" you don't ask "more" and don't say "I love you" every..."
“GODDAMMIT LAPIS!”
Lapis laughs and, wrapped in a blanket, approaches the nightmarishly confused Peridot, hugs her shoulders and leans to her ear. Peridot shivers.
"Wanna do it again?" Lapis whispers softly.
Peridot wants to die.
And to do it again.
14.
Holidays are lazy and delightful, but the real life reminds of itself, pulling Peridot to colloquiums and conferences almost from the bed and from Lapis' hands. “This is the fate of the best student of the faculty” everything Peridot can say, packing her belongings in a backpack and wildly regretting that she didn't begin to skip classes in the first week of the first year, so now don't suffer for the whole fucking faculty. Although, without her Lapis would be expelled from the university, which is extremely undesirable, especially now.
Lapis smiles and squeezes a soft cat, sadly realizing that for several days it will be a substitute, although very believable - with a funny displeased muzzle, shaggy and warm.
"Don't miss me." Peridot gives her a goodbye kiss, and the door behind her closes with some special dreary creak.
Lapis Lazuli simply can't stand being taken away from something or someone, to which she is attached. So it went from childhood, spent far beyond the city, with parents who treated her completely not as parents, friends, who appeared only in the summer when people come to a summer house on a barbecue, and her own loneliness. Lapis loved this loneliness, allowing not everyone to join her, and not daring not to let the parents, constantly invading her personal space.
"You can't communicate with these children," they said, and Lapis never saw the newly acquired and hard-to-find friends.
"You can't keep animals," and Lapis never saw the lop-eared red puppy brought home again.
God, she hated her life, in which she wasn't allowed to do something that her parents didn't like. Escape to the first university under the pretext of a good education seemed to be the only way out, and it worked, even somehow too well. And Lapis knows more than anyone else that if everything goes on well for a long time, then soon everything will definitely become lousy.
After the third missed call in skype from parents, messages to the mobile phone begin to pour, and Lapis frowns, hiding her face in the fluffy wool of a toy. She doesn't want to respond. But Lapis, being a person of adequate (more or less) understands, that if she doesn't respond to her parents, they, damn them, can just come and make a scandal.
She's twenty, mother of god, two, not fifteen, she thinks, and understands perfectly well how Connie lives now.
"I'm fine" she writes in response to the SMS, which are more like an interrogation, rather than normal messages from worried parents. Lapis climbs into a hammock and doesn't want them to get acquainted with Peridot one day. The ideal variant is ... Never. Yes, never is perfect. She doesn't want them to pour a bucket of shit onto Peridot, as they used to do with any person with whom Lapis had once been friends or tried to be together.
But the universe decides to turn everything inside out, and a few days later, on the threshold, tired and bored Peridot encounters a completely unfriendly looking woman, with piercing blue (like Lapis') eyes.
And Steven is here too, of course.
