I'll ask because now I'm a bit confused: Do People from New Orleans (or at least in the 20s-30s) speak standard French?

I posted the "Alastor wouldn't know standard French" thing to Bluesky and someone interacted with it! They seem pretty adamant about Alastor WOULD knowing normal French (not in a mean way, they're quite informative!)

However, it's lead me a bit confused as when I look it up, people still only really say it's cajun French, not standard French! This would fall more in line with the conversations I've had over here about it, but they also seem like they're from Orleans (or at least talk like they are). I don't wanna be rude and question them about it, plus the conversation we had in the comments (I suggest looking at it if you're interested or for more info on what he's saying) is more or less done. Not much to add without it seeming like I'm trying to pick a fight (just by pointing out my research doesn't SEEM to fully align with what they're saying). But I also don't wanna brush it off because I'm very much not from Louisiana, let alone Orleans. So I'm not living in the culture or know it by heart! If anyone has a better grasp on the subject (or even FROM Orleans), I just want to know if standard French is spoken there at all!
