that ending genuinely makes me want to fucking sob. this season is SO good so far but it physically and mentally hurts

So, I was reading this romance book the other day. The Mc has been broken up with, and isn’t doing well. And one of her best friends is saying “you know he still loves you, it’s just over for now,” and she says “if he loved me, he wouldn’t have broken my heart like this.”

And it just smacked me in the face. Woah. This is Belly’s logic for her whole break up with Conrad.

Consistently throughout the season, there are hints - pretty big ones - that he either still loves her, or had feelings for her. People even tell her. Susannah says he does, and even Jere says he does.

But what Belly’s done is she’s built herself into this illusion, where in order to make it hurt less, she just pretends it all wasn’t real. And that way, why do you have to be sad if the whole thing was fake and they were both misguided from the start and just wrong and young? Conrad obviously didn’t love her because he broke her heart so badly, which means he didn’t love her that whole time, which means the relationship was nothing. (This is not my personal opinion btw, I think these were her thoughts).

And so she makes herself think Conrad doesn’t love her, and truly when he tells her in that last episode, I don’t think she believes him.

And the saddest thing is, as Conrad says in episode seven, this wasn’t what he wanted. He did all of that specifically to avoid the heartbreak when he couldn’t be the person she deserved because he had to focus on himself and was so sad and drained from his mothers death. And it worked in the exact opposite way and caused more conflict and heartbreak between them. The literal definition of the wrong things for the right reasons.

Hopefully it can be addressed that Conrad truly does love Belly and she believes him, because I can’t wait to see her when she realises it all and he confesses it all to her again.

Season three CANNOT wait but also like if they wanted to do a season four and give us that growing and healing and the letters to ultimately get us to the Belly and Conrad wedding I would like that.

Like I can ask for a whole season of them just being soft and repairing!

But I don’t want the show to drag on out of canon and make weird choices so three (or four) would be perfect.

I remember reading the series during finals week, and finishing one book after the other to escape the stress of studying. I wish I can read it again for the first time :(

what the actual fuck..., i can't with this woman. their aunt makes me so fucking mad and she's not even real. how fucking cruel do you have to be to empty the house while they're at the boardwalk, i don't want to think that skye knew about what their mom was going to do but i already know conrad and jereamigh are going to turn on them when we get to next weeks episode. their aunt is truly a peice of shit like even if she really truly HAD to sell the house you'd think she'd have the decency to give them a chance to take some of their mom's stuff. SHE DIDN'T EVEN GO TO HER OWN SISTERS FUCKING FUNERAL WTF. i hope we learn more about her but as of right now shes awful.
