HTML Editors

Where to begin??

When beginning your first project it can be a daunting task to decide what editor to use.

I’ve taken a look at a couple of editors and have decided to compare just 2 options today –

Adobe Dreamweaver &

Notepad++

There are many other options to choose from that are both paid and free to use depending on your skills level including:

Atom, Visual Studio Code, Sublime Text, Froala and CoffeeCup.

The first editor which can be downloaded to either your PC or Mac is Notepad. In my case I have downloaded the Notepad++ version. There are many options depending on what operating system you are working from.

Notepad is a great way to begin learning with little effort and there are great tutorials online to get started. Follow the link to a video I found very useful.

Notepad++ has everything you need to begin coding and because you are starting from scratch it teaches you the basics of both simple code and file management. Other features include:

Code edit tools. Plugin Integration, FTP connection and a Document Map which can help with larger blocks of code.

The second editor that I would recommend is Adobe Dreamweaver CC, however, be aware that you need to subscribe to Adobe and although there is a free 7-day trial available it is a costly application.

Dreamweaver offers users many options including 3 viewing options- Code, Split and Live view which makes it easier to view your changes in real time. It also offers template designs that allow you to both change the code directly or create using the design panel if your coding skills are limited.

WHAT IS A MOLE?

Mole is an extra skin growth that carries the skin pigment melanin. It grows externally on the surface of the skin, or on any part of the body including the face. Moles can appear alone or in groups. They are brownish or black in colour.

Moles can either come with birth or can develop later over time.  They can be hereditary or may develop due to a reaction to ultraviolet radiations. It does not matter much if the mole is either flat or raised with a bump on your skin. If the mole is even in colour and is outlined, it’s harmless. However, if the mole has a diameter more than a centimetre and has pigmentation or has an irregular outline, it is known as an atypical mole or a dysplastic mole. These moles have a high risk of growing malignant and develop melanoma or skin cancer, when stimulated by the sun.

WHAT CAUSES MOLE GROWTH?

Melanin, the natural skin colour pigment produces cells called melanocytes. Sometimes these cells cluster together which leads to growth of moles. The reason for these cells clustering is not known. Moles tend to become darker when they are exposed to the sun. They may also get darker during puberty or pregnancy.

IS IT NECESSARY TO UNDERGO MOLE REMOVAL?

While most moles are harmless, in some cases they need to be removed, if they pose a risk of malignancy.  In other situations, a mole may bother a patient, for aesthetic reasons. In such cases, it is important to consult your dermatologist before you get them removed.

WHAT IS A HISTOPATHOLOGY EXAMINATION?

Your dermatologist might also recommend you to get a Histopathology examination done for your mole to check if the mole could turn out to be malignant or not.

A Histopathology examination is a microscopic examination of tissues to observe the appearance of diseased or infected cells and tissues in detail. It is commonly known as a biopsy, when surgically a sample or specimen from the patient’s body is taken, for a detailed study.

DIFFERENT TYPES OF MOLE REMOVAL TREATMENTS

Moles can be removed in many different ways. Below are a few surgical and non-surgical mole removal treatments. Let’s read how these treatments can help…

MOLE CUTTING / EXCISION

Cutting or excision is a method in which moles are treated with a local anesthesia, and the mole is cut out along with a small area of the skin. Mole Excision is a clinical procedure done with a scalpel or surgical scissors. There are various types of moles and the treatment depends on the growth pattern of the mole. For example; some moles have cells that grow under the external skin layer. The excision of these moles is easier as compared to other moles. In other cases, the surgery might need a deeper incision. After the mole is removed, the incision is stitched to close the skin that is cut along with the mole. The surgery might leave a tiny scar that fades with time.

SHAVE REMOVAL TREATMENT

Some moles can be shaved off with a surgical scalpel. The area is numbed with local anesthesia before shaving it. After shaving off the mole, a pink mark is left. The mark also fades over time.

MOLE FREEZING

Mole freezing is another minimally invasive treatment for treating unwanted moles. Mole freezing treatment is usually done on harmless/non-cancerous moles. These non-cancerous moles do not grow deep into the inner skin layers. Their superficial growth makes it easier to remove them surgically. The moles are frozen with liquid nitrogen and the mole is eventually removed. This might leave a tiny blister on the skin but is a relatively painless and simple outpatient surgery that takes just a few minutes.

LASER MOLE REMOVAL

Non-malignant moles that don’t grow out on the surface of the skin can be removed with a laser mole removal treatment. A laser mole removal treatment uses high-frequency light beams to break down the clustered pigment cells in the skin. This method of removing moles might take two or three sittings to remove the mole completely.

While mole excision and other methods are more commonly recommended treatments, laser treatment for mole removal can be useful for areas that are difficult to reach. These areas may include delicate areas of the face or ears. A laser mole removal treatment can help in removing multiple moles at the same time.
