The THING is. If you take a piece of fiction that has a SHIT-TON of characters, most of whom are given significant focus, but you put ALL of your attention and enthusiasm into ONLY ONE of them, yeah of COURSE you're going to be disappointed if things don't coalesce nicely around that favorite character (regardless of how much that would even make sense in the larger story). If you ONLY care what happens to this ONE character in a cast of TENS OF SIGNIFICANT CHARACTERS, then yeah, you'll think the entire thing is trash if you're disappointed in that one character's ending, regardless of the merits of anything else. Which it's fine to be disappointed about that, just BE HONEST THAT THAT'S THE REASON WHY YOU'RE DISAPPOINTED.
#I liked the back half of cx/gf season 3 less because of all the focus on nathaniel. not because it was 'objectively' (objectivity does not#exist in the evaluation of art) bad. I simply found this character annoying. I am fully willing to say that it wasn't that deep#I take issues with th*smin for very strange nit-picky reasons. I am fully willing to admit THAT as well.#just be honest and don't try to say it's some grander intellectual™ argument or try to spin it into sounding progressive#you can just not like things. sometimes even for petty reasons! it's okay!#it's also never 'I thought this plot point was handled badly but it COULD have made sense or been done well' it's always 'this was#INHERENTLY bad and STUPID and ANTITHETICAL TO /EVERYTHING/ this story was saying' which lmao. it really wasn't.#oh I almost put a REALLY petty comment at the end of this but luckily I /DO/ still have some restraint
