So, I watched Yi City arc and I’m devasted.

Mood, I know.

Xue Yang is my beautiful baby now, sorry I don’t make the rules.

And I love XueXiao, the author really had a stroke of genius with this arc.

I love that there are many fans who love XY and this arc, and so talentful, too!

But I’m a bit disappointed with the fandom.

I mean, most of people focus on Xue Yang, and, yeah, good taste, good taste.

But I’m interested in some approaches to XXC’s feelings.

I mean, what are XXC’s feelings towards XY? Is he attracted by him, and if so, why? Does he hate and/or pity him? What would have happened if XXC discovered the truth earlier? What would have happened if XY told him the truth, that there isn’t any masterplan, that he stayed because he likes the domestic life? Did XXC would really have killed him? Because he didn’t, he could and he didn’t. He wanted an explanation, because he couldn’t concile his roomate with murderer (because he never thought as XY as a person before).

XY loves XXC, that’s clear, but what about XXC?

I see that people don’t focus on the fact that XXC really wanted to hunt and see XY killed for his crimes. Really. Because for XXC XY wasn’t a person, but only a criminal, a evil thing to destroy and not to reflect about. Yes, soft XXC supported death penalty without any problem.

In the end, XY in some way wins. Because now XXC has seen him as a person, not a evil thing to hunt, to kill, to hurt. And XXC, with his morality of black and white, can’t process this. How could a murderer be a person, have feelings, habits, good sides?

XXC feels for XY as a person, and he can’t shut it down.

For this, I can see XueXiao really working, because XXC considers him a person now, because he likes/liked Xue Yang. And this shames him, because his moral compass tells him to hate, to be disgusted by XY, but he can’t, not anymore.

And Xue Yang? Yes, in the start he wants to really hurt XXC and he did it, cruelly. Because he knows that if XXC knew the truth, XXC would try to kill him, without any doubt. His kindness is fake.

But later... he doesn’t. He loves his domestic life. After all the hurts, the betrayals, the joy of killing... he stops. He settles. He lives peacefully. For this I’ve lots of hope for XY. Because he could do it, could control his bloodlust and the worst sides of him. So... what would have happened if someone decent had taken him in? I don’t have any doubt that he would have grow up different. Yes, without natural human empathy. But you can learn to live around this condition, and XY did. He was nice for years to an abrasive girl and the guy who tried to have him executed. Yes, a big fact was that XY really really really liked XXC, but the genuine affection came later.

So yeah. I think XY could have had a redemption arc, because he stopped. And I think that XXC couldn’t really hate him, in the end. Because XY, his funny roomate and the murderer, was a person, and he couldn’t begin to bear it. If he didn’t die, however... the possibilities are endless.

In the end, I wouldn’t like XueXiao so much if it was just an one side obsession. XXC feels, too, and that’s fundamental.

Many redemption arcs are this... stopping doing evil things, starting doing good ones. And XY was doing it. And I mean really doing this, without all the mess with killing people. Just for a poor house, a bit of human kindness. Iconic. The last night hunts? They are real, XY is really being a “good” cultivator. I think (at least, I hope) that XXC would have given him a chance. Because now he know he’s not only an evil thing, but a person, too. Able to do evil and good deeds.

(really sad about the hatefest all the characters had about XY. The narrative is sympathetic towards him, in ways it isn’t towards Wen Chao, just to say. I get that it’s WWX shadow (the worst version of himself), and they want us to appreciate WWX’s morality, but iiiiiihhhh. It’s okay, we can adopt XY and give him every nice thing he deserve).

A carranca crescendo na testa. “Eu não estou putinho” disse com uma seriedade imensa, o que apenas deixava a fala cômica. E quando ela insistiu em usar aquela palavra, ele elevou um pouco o tom de voz “Eu não estou putinho, Bellatrix” disse cruzando os braços em uma pose mimada irritada. Ele revirou os olhos dramaticamente quando ouviu o que ela disse e deu um passo a frente a fim de que a diferença de alturas se fizesse mais presente ali - e ele impusesse alguma autoridade. “Eu nunca faço merdas, eu sou o rei” disse enquanto encarava o rosto dela. Claro que mais alguma piadinha viria, é claro! Era o que deveria esperar de Bellatrix que parecia sempre fazer tudo que podia para irrita-lo. “Se fizer de novo, eu vou te mandar de volta pra França.” Falou de uma vez antes de dar as costas e levantar as mãos como se jogasse tudo ao ar - ela era irritante demais para lidar. “A Marquesa de Cowley” revirou os olhos mais uma vez, lembrando-se da época em que ela era uma amante frequente e viu Francisco entre beijos com a mulher. Além, é claro, da justificativa política - uma vez que o antigo rei tinha conflitos com o rei espanhol.
