media that lionizes the ideal of family (usually a nuclear family) makes me roll my eyes. like you know what I mean. stories about people who have real, longstanding issues with each other but overcome them at the last minute with no actual communication or resolution because they are Family and that’s enough to supersede all else

I have those feelings bc of my own experiences so ymmv but from a more detached perspective it’s just. bland and lazy. family family family we fucking get it have you ever thought about this yourself or are you just regurgitating one of the most inoffensive messages in existence. can I get a story about how family isn’t the most important thing and that’s okay. about people who have strained, even bad, familial relationships, without that being treated as self-evidently wrong, or even a worst-case scenario.
