'cuse me for hijacking this post, but this is my Thunderdome, and I have opinions....

While I think the Spring Court tends to favour fiddle and Celtic-style music, the Autumn Court is all about the classics.

re: previous tags - I def agree the Autumn sibs all are trained in an instrument or two. I do think they are all classically trained in piano, which serves as a gateway into other instruments. Although their skill level in piano may vary, they are all at least proficient.

I like to think Autumn is a very musically inclined court. They hold competitive music festivals that are as snobbish as they are prestigious, full of tradition and elegance. Nervously sweating in your finest clothing before performing is a rite of passage for most young Autumn fae.

I think most of the Vanserra siblings branch out into instruments like the viola, double bass, or lute. I 100% hc that LoA plays the harp, and Beron is an organist. I unfortunately also think Beron has a lovely singing voice (imagine the Captain from The Sound of Music).

Eris and Lucien, however, primarily focused on piano. Eris is good enough to be considered a concert pianist, and likely dominated at the music festivals in his youth. He probably gets invited back as a guest adjudicator. RIP the students in his class. Lucien, on the other hand, I think very quickly became sick of the "boring classical" stuff and loved to play blues/jazz and ragtime. Lucien just loves to jam out and has amazing natural rhythm.

HC that when they were younger, Lucien would constantly pester Eris to play four-hand piano pieces with him.

Honestly, the few good memories the brothers have are from playing music together. However, that doesn't negate that some of their most vicious fights were sparked from one of them consistently playing out of time. Let’s just say, each of them has had a tuning fork thrown at them at least once.

Lastly, I like to think the Autumn Court has its own symphony. Beron def has royal box seats. Attending a symphony performance is a major cultural event, and everyone dresses in their finest. The annual performance of the Second Waltz, complete with a complement of trained dancers, totally captures the refined elegance of Autumn society, and I go freaking feral for it

So you're telling me that Lucien lived with Fiddle-master Tamlin of the Spring Court for HOW LONG and he isn't proficient in pianoforte or lute or the goddamned harp or something and they didn't have drunken jam sessions into the wee hours of morning here and there?
