not that I really owe anyone any explanations or anything but like - I know I spend time on here and make some vent posts or whine about minor things, but honestly? I'm doing SO much better than I have been in a long time. I've struggled with my mental health for years and it got really bad this past winter in a way it hasn't for some time. I relapsed into some old habits, picked up new ones, it just generally wasn't great. but I've been in therapy consistently since early January, and I think I've made a lot of progress. I'm a lot less volatile than I was, and I just generally feel happier overall.

I've made a lot of meaningful connections this past year and have a good group of people that support me and care about me. I've been making moves to be my most authentic self. I've also just been trying to embrace spontaneity and do whatever interests me, even if it's just "little" things like dyeing my hair vibrant colours. which I've always wanted to do but was never brave enough to

all in all, I promise I'm doing SO well. yeah I'm a little dry and crispy right now. but I'm an overall happy crispy cookie

I know I'm reeeeally late to the party, but I just finished Diablo 4 and I have… questions. First of all, the game looks incredible, and I loved the aesthetics, the scenery, the character designs—they were all really well done. However, the story felt a bit "meh."

Since Diablo 3 (or maybe even 2—tbh I really don't remember D2 lore; it's been ages since I've played), the story kept showing us how Heaven, source of light and good, doesn't care about humans or anything related to them, that they just mind their own business with Hell. They see humans as abominations since they have the darkness in them too. Again since D3, there's been this yin-yang situation going on, especially seen with Inarius and Lilith. Inarius is an angel corrupted by darkness, mostly by hatred, and Lilith is the daughter of hatred "corrupted" by love and care. She was a mother, maybe not the best for sure, but it really looked like she cared when her son got killed. Especially since Inarius was the killer and his reason was so fucking stupid. He really thought killing his son would get his ass back to heaven- i can't with this man... We see more humanity in Lilith than any other "villain" we've had so far, I believe. I'm not saying she's perfect of course, her ways were brutal obviously but she only talks about giving people the freedom to do whatever, suggests that they're free to do sin but never really gives any details on what a sin is. In the end it's the people choosing to do evil. She's saying that no religion, especially one following a corrupted angel, can show them the way to live and act. AND SHE WAS RIGHT! But why was she doing all this? What was in it for her? Did she just want to send a big "fuck off" to both Heaven and Hell, or was she craving power and wanted to be the sole ruler?

That's my biggest issue with the main story. We never get to learn. We were never given a chance to really talk and consider her points, which mostly made sense, btw. But instead, for some reason, we were considering more of what Mephisto, a damn Prime Evil, had to say? Like I said, the story so far had a yin-yang theme, so I thought we would dive deeper into this with less prejudice, but it felt so superficial, unlike the theme itself. Because it was literally just Lilith = bad while everything about her was mostly gray. And I think they wasted a lot of potential there :/

Destiny 2 Historical Heatmap

So Steam year in review is out, and of course my most played game is Destiny 2. For people who enjoy looking at their own metrics I highly recommend this heatmap on github that will use your Bungie data to show playtime by season and by month, and it has handy icons to show when D2 events released.

There are a ton of filters, so you can just see total time played as well as select for specific activities like raids or crucible. It also shows trends on a seasonal and yearly average so you don't have to just look at the colors to show if you've been playing less.

For example here is my data, where you can see that for example I spent most of my time last season doing everything at once in the last week, and that I've been playing a whole lot less than last year.

Seasonal days are based around "reset" times not calendar days so there can be some interesting variation between the two calendars if you're someone who likes to game late at night.

If you switch to Gregorian view, you can click on the day to view more data, including times and specific activities which will link to the Bungie scoreboard page that has more data like kills,deaths, points etc

7. What is your deepest joy about writing?

I'd have to say it's having the ability to write itself. Wanting a story that's tailor-made to my interests and being able to make that story happen feels incredibly powerful to me, creatively speaking

17. Talk to me about the minutiae of your current wip. Tell me about the lore, the history, the detail, the things that won't make it in the text.

As everyone in L'Server knows, I'm working on a DSMP Firefly AU and it's shaping up to be one of my longest stories. A lot of the history is going to come through in the story itself, but basically, the setting is the future of our time. Earth is long gone and humanity has spread across the galaxy. Some planets are extremely advanced in technology while others are far behind

Many of the locations can be found in the show, but there are some things that Jupiter and I had to do some worldbuilding for, so I'm excited for people to read it

This is the wip that's going to be posted but I'm also working on a side project that's really just for me (though I'm willing to give more details in DMs if you're interested)

19. Tell me a story about your writing journey. When did you start? Why did you start? Were there bumps along the way? Where are you now and where are you going?

Ooh this is an interesting one! I'd say elementary school was when I started since that's my earliest memory of writing, though it was mainly journaling. I properly started writing creatively in middle/high school. In fact, I have a huge binder in my closet full of stuff that I wrote back then (handwritten, will never be posted lol)

I've been a huge reader my entire life. And I'm talking "read instead of played video games/watched tv" levels of reading (which is why I'm extremely uncultured when it comes to a lot of classic games and kids' shows). Writing my own stories was pretty much the logical next step

High school was when I started actually posting fanfiction. My first couple stories were superwholock (I am not free of cringe) but I think the real shift came when I got into writing Destiny fics

My first Destiny fic actually has over 20k views on fanfiction.net because I posted it around the time that D2 was coming out. It ended up becoming the start of a long series which is continuing to this day, as I plan to work on the next story once the Firefly AU goes into revisions

I still sometimes struggle with the idea of my writing being "good enough" but lately I've been making an effort to write more consistently while trying not to pressure myself on first drafts

So, this is a bit that I’ve played with and have been pretty tight-lipped about but... since you’ve all been so nice lately...

Original Trilogy Cameos (or maybe more?)

***SPOILERS AHEAD***

Several characters from the OT are going to play big parts in TDPL, and several will make cameos at the very least. Like...

Owen and Beru Lars

Yes, I’m gonna send the twins and Obi-Wan to Tatooine at some point. It’s only fair, since Leia gets to/has to interact with Bail on a regular basis, that Luke get the same bittersweet interactions at least once or twice. But emphasis on the sweet (for both of them). Because Beru looks at little Luke and Leia Whitesun who have lost everything (their parents, their adopted parents, their homes) and decides that more family is never a bad thing, Whitesun is her name and its a Tatooine name, they’re obviously related regardless of how distant (Luke by heart, Leia by proxy). She would love to be their aunt and Owen to be their uncle, feel free to write. And of course they take her up on this. Because Leia wants to know Luke’s family the way he knows hers. Because no matter how rough growing up on Tatooine was, Luke missed/has missed/misses Beru and Owen.

R2-D2

Still playing with how to address this, because everything has the Force, but at the same time, Droids don’t really have a Force presence, but if anyone could mess with the proper rule of things, it’s Anakin. I kind of imagine a sort of ‘comes-and-goes’ awareness. That Artoo gets more when Luke and Leia are around, but extra memories, conflicting images/classifications of Anakin, overlapping and contradictory command routines (Anakin-is-master/Obi-Wan-is-master/Luke-is-master. Aka: his change in ownership between the movies) aren’t something R2 droids can handle, so he sparks and sputters, and Anakin basically bans Luke from interacting with Artoo because this only happens whenever that Whitesun kid shows up. But Luke will find a way to fix this, because that’s Artoo and he’ll do anything for that little loyal droid.

And last but not least (MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD, YOU’VE BEEN WARNED, I NEED A LAPTOP SO I CAN DO READMORES)

((I’m honestly surpised that no one’s asked about him yet. It’s been years.)

Oh, it’s gonna take a while, but mighty Chewbacca will show up and he will play a major role. There was no way in hell I was gonna leave him out of things!

Chewie, being much older and wiser, but so tangled up with the OT trio, gets something a lot closer to foreknowledge than whatever happened to our main four time travelers. He’s not really like Obi-Wan, but he’s not like the OT trio either (and even if he was somewhat ‘unmade’, who’d be able to tell. He’d lose like 10 years out of 200. No many people would notice). When Chewbacca finds himself on Kashyyyk, in the middle of the Clone Wars, he doesn’t freak out or panic (for too long, that is). He doesn’t have to intergrate a bunch of memories. Doesn’t have to adjust to being out of time and out of place. He just knows that his family is missing a few members, knows those missing members, their likes and dislikes, their presence and power, their scents and their looks, and that they’re going to need him when they show up.

He keeps an ear and an eye out for a tiny scoundrel who should be somewhere around Coruscant or Corellia right now (Disney is lowest Canon. I can and have elected to ignore Solo. Haven’t seen it, feel no obligation to include it). And makes sure the other Wookiees out and about in the galaxy know to contact him should the boy be found. Because Chewbacca also knows that he owes Han Solo a debt (and he wants to keep the cub safe, keep him nearby, that’s his cub and his best friend and he knows that the universe owed the cub a better life, so he’ll make it give Han one even if he has to rip off some arms to do so).

So you can imagine his surprise when he smells all three of his missing cubs on Ahsoka. Imagine how much more surprised (but still happily so) he is when Luke and Leia show up and they were always small, but now they’re even tinier and they’re crying because Chewie knows them, he knows them!

And then Han shows up, and of course Chewbacca wouldn’t have found him, he was looking for a kid, but Han’s almost a man already (by human standards at least), but he’s still Chewie’s cub that he’d swore he’d protect and they’re all there and calling him a fuzz ball and a carpet and a bunch of other things that are not-really-respectful but said with so much affection, and it’s not like their Shyriiwook names are much better and he’s got all three of them wrapped up in his arms and safe, with his wife and child on Kashyyyk and these three in his arms, his whole family is as safe as warriors can be (for they all, his wife and child included, are warriors. And they all will not give the galaxy to the darkness without a fight.)

And of course General Kenobi is involved, who better to watch after his missing cubs? And it’s perfect too, because Mighty Chewbacca hasn’t been idle this entire time. No, not at all. He’s been working on something that might help change the tides of this war...
