The very first episode of the series (not the pilot, the episode that tricked me into skipping the pilot on accident) going straight there by showing Monkey King standing on a mountain of war casualties and broken standards as a physical representation of his fuck-off huge body count in dramatic reds was a very bold choice...right before our wise mentor abruptly remembers just who he's talking to and frantically pivots the subject lol.
...Also, him casually grooming MK was incredibly cute.
