Derby Harrington headcanons
SALUT JE SUIS DE RETOUR !!
First of all, I wanted to apologize for my absence. My studies take up a lot of my time so I can't be very active right now. Also I'm still on the writing of Part V regarding the age of the students at Bullworth Academy, give me some more time.
To make up for this absence, I offer you a series of headcanons on Derby. Bonne lecture!
When he doesn't have school, Derby does photoshoots as a model for Aquaberry as can be seen on posters in the store
The girls hate him, except for Pinky perhaps, but he's ranked as one of the most handsome guys in school
He knows this and brags about it
He learns French as you can hear him pronouncing French words in one of his lines of dialogue ("accoutrement" ouais ouais c'est de chez moi ça mdrr)
In the evening, he sits in an armchair, a glass of wine filled in his hand and listens to jazz
After boxing, Derby plays a lot of tennis
It has its own land and equipment
The only course in which he gets good grades without paying for them is English because he loves the language and everything around him (literature, etc)
He doesn't know that Tad is plotting against him
When he's drunk, he can say anything (like telling Justin he considers him his best friend lol)
Her perfume is One Million by Paco Rabane
there was a time when Derby was the tallest of the group but now Bif is a head taller than him and maybe Parker a few inches taller and he's disgusted lmao
His love language is to give compliments here and there. Saying "I love you" directly is too difficult for him
After Bif, the one he's met and is close to too is Bryce (that's why we see him with him in the hole and the chaos at school)
He's a real poker cheat

SOME MORE INFO ON THIS REALLY STUPID CROSS STITCH PATTERN (or, more accurately, my poor decision-making and impulse control)
this particular company is known for its hellaciously large, hellaciously detailed patterns. cross stitch patterns, when not sold in convenient kit form at the hobby shop, usually give you measurements involving the number of stitches rather than inches or centimeters, because the gauge of fabric that you use makes a difference in the finished size. they also usually give you the finished size on the suggested gauge of fabric.
this particular pattern is 500 stitches wide and 783 stitches high. (for those of you playing along at home, that's 391,500 total stitches). the suggested fabric gauge is 25, which should result in a finished piece 20 inches wide and 31.4 inches high. so, a bit smaller than your average poster, if your average poster is 24x36 (I always expect them to be half that size, because art prints usually are, but posters usually aren't, I've learnt).
now some words about fabric gauge, which may or may not be the proper term, but it refers to the number of stitches in an inch, so it's basically correct for our purposes. kitted patterns like the kind you buy at the hobby shop are probably on 14ct or 16ct fabric (that's 14-count or 16-count - 14 or 16 stitches to an inch). maybe 12 or possibly even 10 if it's a kit intended for children; maybe 18 if it's intended to be particularly complex.
back to the pattern. 25ct fabric is, as you'd expect, fabric with 25 stitches over one inch. which means that one square inch contains 625 stitches. not only is that a fuckton of stitches, but at that gauge, they're fucking tiny. you basically need a magnifier tool to work at this gauge. (I don't have one, but my mom does.)
anyway, I don't mind working on 16ct fabric (so much as I ever do counted cross stitch, which is roughly never). 18ct is kind of a pain, but I can do it without a magnifier (though not without a strong light source) and is therefore about as small as I'm willing to do ccs, ever. (my mom has some 20 and 25ct fabric and patterns. they are fucking ridiculous.) but because this is a larger gauge, while the number of stitches remains consistent, the finished dimensions of the stitched piece will change.
in this case, on 18ct fabric, the pattern works out to something like 28"x43.5". or, a bit bigger than your average poster (assuming am average poster size of 24x36). for reference, here is an average poster, with an a5 notebook in the corner for a rough size comparison:

and on 18ct fabric, this cross stitch piece would be four inches wider and eight inches taller. than that. and I'm considering fucking doing it.
so, yes, poor decision-making, impulse control, and life choices all around, here in chez azu. fortunately for me, the pattern hasn't been released! which means I cannot yet actually embark upon this particular bit of foolishness. yet.
good news: my mom sent me what appears to be the cover to one of the most fantastic cross stitch patterns in all existence
bad news: my research skills tell me that this pattern does not actually exist
