12, 26, and 34 - and if someone has already asked these then answer them again, none of this linking to previous answer bullshit
BITCH YOU KNOW FULL WELL I'M ON MOBILE AND DON'T KNOW HOW TO LINK SHIT AND ALSO WILL HAPPILY ANSWER THE SAME Q A MILLION TIMES IN A ROW!!!! my answer will change with the breeze anyway!!! Pfffffft
12. Which story of yours do you like best? why?
O man, I don't fucking know, faves are hard!!! Anyway it's a category not an individual.
Today let's say even the best laid plans. I don't think it's the best written but it was my first rio pov so I feel v fond towards it, I think it combined the exact ratio of planning to fuck it idk let's see!!! to make writing it v v fun, they're trashed in different ways throughout which was also immensely fun and it's surprisingly sweet which was ALSO a lot of fun!
26. What’s the most research you’ve ever put into a book?
A book - mm well readingwise probably anything that made me want to fact check it!!!
Writingwise, I did nano a couple of times and one of those presented me with a fantasy story which heavily featured like ghost rail so there was a lot of stuff about the northern heights plan, but TBH I had been researching that all my life so it was probably just fact checking myself more than deep research.
Ficwise hmm idk - I tend to fact check the randomest things. So the bar that beth meets Jamie at in dirty dirty game is a real bar and I can tell you what time it closes and that was terribly important to me, though not particularly plot relevant.
I was extremely concerned about the sunset time in people can be so cold when they get stuck in the snow and trying to work out how dark it would be 😂
I don't know why I bother to fact check Beth and rio's dialogue because I'm always like oh this is not true... They would definitely say it... Fucking morons! And leave it in
34. Unpopular writing thoughts/opinions?
Oh, many!
Adverbs are cool
Writing every day isn't necessary
It's OK to let ideas bake, actually
Telling not showing is fine actually (like maybe you don't want to do it ALL the time but you can do some!!!!)
Use the passive voice if you want to use the passive voice
Semi-colons are cool
Run on sentences are cool
You can use verbs other than 'said' to tag dialogue ffs
I guess I'm just very dubious of blanket advice?
And also I guess this isnt the advice's fault but the way things like 'avoid repetition' or 'write what you know' are interpreted grinds my gears a lil sometimes too
