bring back Sports Festival Ochako! when she was fighting for her parents! her motivations were so unique at first, wanting to be a hero purely for the money, but it was actually a wholesome reason!
(also if she had been in the Stain arc with those motivations?? ooooh that would have been an incredible character moment for her and for Stain. How does his ideology work in her case, where she wants money, but the money is for someone else’s benefit? They’d have an incredible debate lol.)
Sports Festival Ochako’s motivations and mindset with her current skillset would be so badass. We’re talking about the girl that almost fucking killed Bakugou. She’d wreck everyone’s shit without a second of hesitation. (no she won’t beat Shiggy but she wouldn’t hesitate or get flustered mid-battle while fighting Toga or other villains)
then, the story changed her motivation to wanting to save people, which is great and all, but not only did this completely overtake her earlier motivation, but now the story’s making a point to tie all her motivations to Deku and that’s detracting a lot from her character. She’s shown using the same martial arts throw again and again and was the only character not given an individual named ultimate move until Chapter 289.
Every powerful moment she has is followed by some moment of her blushing over Deku, and suddenly, every Uraraka moment in the manga mentions Deku or parallels Deku in some way. I personally find that so irritating!
I used to multiship but this is what completely turned me off IzuOcha for good now. I can’t help but think that her development is being hindered for the development of her ship, and while that’s nothing new in shounen manga, in this particular one, where she started off so strong, it’s very disappointing. Aoyama’s single fucking line during the final exams arc just destroyed her character development for me.
Let my girl develop on her own, fucking please.
