Them: Sambucky shippers are delusional.
Me, not listening because I'm to busy wondering if well get to see their first kiss in the next movie or if there'll be a time jump and well see them as established couple already.

I don't even know if you take prompts or accept requests, so I'm sorry if you don't (you can absolutely ignore this), but can you please please write sambucky breakup scene. it could be because they were in a super dangerous mission and Sam got hurt, again. Bucky is just exhausted of being worried and he wants them to retire or something but Sam doesn't want to and a conflict erupt between them, or it could be for more or less dramatic reasons. I just love your writing so much, I visit your blog like six times a day to see if you uploaded something. hope you have a great day today
(I do take prompts, anon! And I really like this one! Also, you just made my day. I still can't believe that people actually like reading my stuff 🥺️ P.S. I hope you like the fic)

Bucky stormed through the hospital like a man with a purpose. No one dared to stop him or get in his way. When Bucky found the room he was looking for, his heart skipped a beat.
“It’s not as bad as it looks,” Sam groggily tried to assure him from his hospital bed. There were bruises all over his face. His arm was in a sling and he probably had other injuries Bucky couldn’t see underneath the hospital gown.
“Not as bad as it looks,” Bucky bitterly repeated his words. “Right. Right. You just like the hospital food.”
“Bucky…” Sam said softly and winced when he moved.
Bucky was immediately by his boyfriend’s bed. “Don’t get up,” he warned the other man. He sat down on the chair next to the bed to stay close to Sam. “I told you to let me come with you.”
“It was supposed to be a simple mission… find and stop the truck carrying the ammunition. Nothing I haven’t done a million times before,” Sam replied.
“Yeah, look how that turned out,” Bucky scoffed. “You’re not invincible, Sam.”
Sam winced again, and Bucky knew it wasn’t because of the pain this time.
A palpable silence fell between them. And the next thing Bucky knew, Sam was fast asleep.
***
Bucky practically carried Sam to the apartment. Sam leaned into Bucky while Bucky wrapped his arm around Sam’s waist and helped him stay standing.
“I could just pick you up,” Bucky suggested.
“Don’t you dare!” Sam warned him.
Bucky led Sam to the couch and helped him lie down on it before adjusting the pillows behind his head. Sam hissed in pain at the sudden movement, and Bucky mumbled a quick apology. He sat down on the coffee table and watched in awe as his boyfriend clutched the raggedy old brown teddy bear to his chest. It was given, nope, loaned to him by Cass, who claimed the bear had healing powers and had made him better when he had chickenpox. Sam has kept it close to him since the hospital.
“Sam--” Bucky started, killing the silence between them. “Don’t get mad but I think--”
“Don’t, Buck,” Sam cut in before Bucky could finish his sentence. “I know what you are going to say.”
“It’s for the best if we retire, Sam.” Bucky knew this would not be easy, but it was worth the try. “You’ve already done a lot.”
“And what about Captain America? People count on me, Bucky.”
“Someone else can pick up the mantle… I just want you to be safe,” Bucky said desperately.
“How could you even say that?!” Sam cried out. “You’re the one who hounded me to pick up the shield!”
“And now I’m asking you to put it down!” Bucky all but begged.
Sam tried sitting up but let out a pained sound.
“Sam, careful, you’re gonna hurt yourself,” he said, helping Sam sit up on the couch.
“What you just said hurts more, Bucky,” Sam replied.
“Sam--”
“I can’t do it. I can’t just give up on the shield. I can’t give up on the people who count on me. No matter what the cost.”
Bucky felt disappointment rise within him. “If that’s how you feel… then I can’t do this.”
“What?” A shocked look fell over Sam’s face. “What do you mean you can’t do this?”
“I am tired of having this same conversation over and over again. I am tired of constantly living in the fear of losing you. If you can’t let go of Captain America, then you have to let go of me, Sam.”
“Okay,” said Sam, with no emotions in his voice.
“Okay?” Bucky asked, surprised.
“You can go if you want. I’m not gonna stop you.”
“I’m not going anywhere,” Bucky said adamantly. “I am not leaving you when you can barely get up on your own.”
“I don’t need your help or your pity, James.” This was the first time that Sam had said his first name.
“This isn’t pity, Sam. You need help!”
“I don’t need it from you!” Sam argued. “Now, leave.”
“Sam--”
“I said leave!” Sam yelled.
Bucky closed his eyes and let a stray tear run down his cheek before getting up from the coffee table. He threw one glance at Sam, who had turned his face away, before heading out the door and out of Sam’s life.
