so first. I was dating this guy, had a promise ring, we'd known each other since high school and had hooked up off and on for the last few years and finally got together. hed always been accepting of me and who i am. i really loved him. welp. he cheated. got a girl pregnant. I found out and dumped him obviously. he also said some very homophobic (which- weird as fuck bc hes literally bi??) and transphobic shit behind my back and has been stalking me i think. hes just "coincidentally" been at places ive been. so that's been lovely.

all of that has led to my mental health being worse than it usually is. I've been trying to distract myself. I've picked up more hours and longer shifts at my job. also, I've got two college degrees and I'm currently working on a third, along with also helping a professor with some research for her thesis which has also taken up some time.

so. long story short, it hasn't been finished and posted because I've been keeping myself busy and my mental health is in the toilet. I'm sorry. I hope to finish it and post it soon tho. hope you can understand

Okay, I want going to say anything, but there are too many connections to what I have to say for me just to stay quiet. I was today years old when I learned there's a difference between talking to and conversing with. Hey! It wasn't until I was 50 that I was diagnosed on spectrum, so leave me alone, or don't, still don't write have that down yet. You know, they seem very keen to leave out the word autism. On spectrum, on spectrum. None of the three therapists I've had in the last year have ever said autism. Maybe something i should discuss next week. Also, since it's court ordered, and there is a mental condition characterized by s sensory processing disorder, why am I not getting some sort of government assistance to become status quo? Sorry, I'm just tapped out. Anyway, oh yeah, talked at. My therapist had been working with me on this: people don't necessarily talk to me for my insight. I thought that was the reason people talked. I have something I need you to know, you need to show your acknowledgment by showing you understand. Wish I could remember the word they use with areas that kryptids and the convergence of coincidences. Google searches aren't helping this time. Anyway, [sigh sorry] convergence of coincidences. Never understood talking to versus and conversing with. Then today, my partner, and isn't that a strange way of discretion her? I thought so. ANYWAY! [Fuck, sorry] partner starts asking my opinion so I assume I'm supposed to give it, but she did what she wanted anyway, getting better since it wasn't the opposite this time, I guess, I think anyway, maybe, not sure [okay, okay, sorry]. Fine, so keep going on with my day, message from owner of first job, maybe should just say owner, no that had connotations of someone else [don't get into that! Sorry!], anyway, want me to work a Saturday, more I think of it probably all Saturday too [NOT IMPORTANT DAMMIT], ANYWAY, so I tell him will see what my other job says and will let him know, go through the problems of trying to get off from my second job, after telling him I don't get days off, I have to find someone to cover my shift, tell 1st boss that, get told that already scheduled me why letting him know, have to tell him I may not be able to work it yet, tells me fine got you working the fifth, literally have to send a message to a coworker at first job to tell her cousin to tell his father in not working that Saturday because he won't listen to me, get to work, still on schedule that day and no one else is. Fine. Emails sent. Not even coming in. THEN, a guest of the hotel comes up here, starts telling me something important after I start doing what she needs me to do for her, and walks away while finishing what she's complaining about even though I can't hear her. Now I know what talking to and talking at are, and I think I have an understanding of conversing because of this post on Facebook. No wonder humans are all us vs them

First of all, it was not intentional.

You were trying to do your first spell.

Who's gonna stop you? Not your cat, that's for sure.

And then just ☁poof☁ deer man appears

"THE FUCK!?", you shout and scramble back, tripping over your feet and falling.

Alastor is equally surprised, because he was in the middle of a good book and there was a strange shift in the air.

You lie on your back for a while, just trying to piece together HOW THE FUCK YOU DID A SUMMONING SPELL!

Deciding not to wait for you to process everything, Alastor speaks. "Excuse me, did you want something?"

Sitting up, you rub the back of your head with your eyes closed. "No? Sorry, I didn't mean to summon you-or any demon. It was not my intention tonight."

Then you open your eyes and get a good look at the demon you've accidentally summoned.

Holy shit that's Alastor!?

Now your brain is having a whole moment.

Never mind the summoning, how the fuck did I open up a portal and bring a fictional character into the 3rd dimension!?

"Um, who are you?", you ask, just wanting to make sure your brain wasn't making any of this up.

"Oh, how rude of me! My apologies, I am Alastor!"

It could be a demon with the same name?

"Radio Demon, Hell's finest radio host."

Nope, it's your animated crush. You freak out on the inside.

Honestly I'd be freaking out too.

"Um ok, nice to meet you.", you say awkwardly.

You stand up and notice he hasn't left the circle of crystals.

"Charmed, I'm sure."

"Sorry again, but can you go back home?", you ask, looking down at the crystals. "I want to try to do my spell again."

"Why of course!", he does a snap of his fingers but doesn't move. "That's odd."

"What's odd?"

"It seems that I can't leave."

And now you're stuck with a very tall demon. Good thing you live alone.

Your cat hides away from Alastor, the deer demon didn't even know you had a cat until you began searching for them.

"Where are you? Pspspspspspspsps.", you call, looking under your couch.

"What are you doing?", he asks.

"Calling for my cat."

"Hmm.. I'll have to try that with Husker."

You want to laugh so bad.

Alastor pokes at the crystal barrier, getting zapped as he does so. "Could you perhaps move one of these? I'd like to get out."

"Will you respect the house rules?", you ask.

He better.

He thinks it over for a moment or two. "Yes."

You tell him the house rules before letting him out.

Now you have a demon roommate. That is until you can figure out a way to get him back home.

The next day comes, and when you wake you find your cat sitting on your bed, staring through door.

"Glad you're back.", you mumble and pet them.

Stepping out of the room, you almost forgot about Alastor. Almost.

"Good morning!", he says with a wide smile. "I hope you had a proper rest."

"Am I still sleeping?", you ask, looking for something in the room that felt out of place.

"You're very much awake! Come sit, I've made you breakfast."

Your brain can't really grasp him in such a domestic moment, but you do as told and sit at your two person table.

Alastor and your cat do start to get along.

He asks about your radio. "What are all of these extra bits?"

"It's a record player, and a radio. It can also play CDs and cassettes.", you explain and demonstrate how to properly use it.

"Fascinating."

Sometimes when a good song is playing, he'll pull you into a dance.

He takes over the cooking most of the time.

Working on a spell? He'll help you out with it.

Unwanted house guests? Oh no, they've been spooked into leaving.

Coffee is made every morning. Tea as well if you prefer that.

One day you decide to help with the cooking.

"It's no trouble at all.", he says. "Just wait for the food."

"I'm gonna be stuck with not knowing how to make food when you leave, let me at least learn by helping."

He can't really argue with that, so he lets you help.

Let's get cookin'

Both of you end up cooking together more often and trade recipes.

Then you go grocery shopping after making sure he won't kill anyone unless its absolutely necessary.

"What if you encounter a thief?"

"Depends on what they take. I don't really care about money."

"What if someone assaults you?"

"I can take care of myself, they just have to throw the first hit."

"What about a rapist trying to lay a hand on you?"

"That one you can kill without a second thought."

You finally get to see his human disguise. Yes, he looks handsome as hell. A lot of heads turn in the grocery store when you both pass by.

There was almost a grab-by with an old woman. Thankfully you were able to move him away before she could pinch his bottom.

"Ew.", you said scrunching your nose. "Let's get the last thing and leave."

little things - good charlotte (this is just straight up classic GC music and it holds up today)

high school never ends - bowling for soup (again, just an amazing pop punk anthem. i listen to this one a lot when writing high school scenes lmao)

predictable - good charlotte (it's hard not to just recommend their entire discography cause i grew up on their shit my man. i listened to this a lot during the early days of writing stay - and it still holds up eighteen years later)

therapy - all time low (listen, my friend. this is the shit. you think you've heard good music? it doesn't hold a candle to this shit right here. i've lost count of the amount of times i've like cry-screamed to this one. it's so fucking good. not everyone vibes with it so i won't be offended if you don't but holy shit it's so good)

my last semester - the wonder years (you want to talk angst? this is great angst. i feel this shit in my soul)

there's a lot more punk music i listen to but that's what i can remember off the top of my head. and it's a good start to the world of punk and pop-punk music

honestly i'd recommend anything by the wonder years or good charlotte. i'm a little more choosy with the other bands i've linked above but they've all got good stuff

quick note about real friends - from 2011 to 2018, they released a handful of EP's and full albums with the lead singer Dan Lambton - all of which were amazing and angsty and generally a fun ride. in early 2020, Real Friends announced that Dan was exiting the band, no animosity between any of the band mates, it was just time for Dan to go in a different direction (i have thoughts about this lmao)

in 2021, Real Friends began releasing music with a new lead singer, Cody Muraro. Cody is a great vocalist and their songs are still incredible lyrically. But it's a different sound.

Not just because Dan's no longer the lead vocalist but their sound has shifted. They're less punk, a little more pop - i feel like they're trying to stay punk, it's just not as strong as when Dan was with them.

I don't hate their new music but it doesn't give me that same gut punch that their old stuff does. so i recommend anything by real friends from 2018 and before - and after 2018, i'm a lot more choosy about which songs i like

anyway. now that the essay about real friends is over with lmao, i'll leave you to enjoy these punk/pop-punk gems that i listen to on the regular
