sorry but again. what is this. why is this a dialogue. dalish elves are not trusted nor wanted in human society. they are actively hunted and oppressed and enslaved specifically in tevinter. elves are treated horribly. how in the world did this become elves worrying if other people like them or not.

Y'know, I was thinking about how interesting it was that a vaguely medieval(ish) fantasy setting like Vaugarde had access to the anxiety medication found in Mirabelle's room, before I remembered that

a) There's literally a Sadness called Anxiété

b) Sadnesses are created by an excess of intense negative emotions

c) Sadnesses predate the king, and just increased in number because his presence/trail of destruction/general bad vibes caused more negative emotions

IN CONCLUSION

It makes perfect sense for Vaugarde as a setting to have an extremely advanced understanding of mental health: it's necessary to stop monsters from forming and attacking people. Things like anxiety and depression medication aren't just life saving - they're defenses! It does put an interesting spin on the country's 'party at the end of the world' outlook though...
