[I BEG of you, take me instead of him! If there is a role to fill, then I WILL fufill it! Please! Don’t take him away from his life here!]
Warden Amber AU, where instead of asking for a chance to find Ingo, she begs the lake guardians to let her take his fate. Brief snippet and Headcanons under the read more.
Amber begs the Lake Guardians to let her replace Ingo, wherever he is, whatever he is doing. She believes that, Emmet and Ingo were happy before they had met her, they can continue without her. That; to break up their [two car train] was far worse than losing her.
The Lake Trio agrees and sends her back to when Ingo vanished. Amber is standing outside the Subway Boss’ Office, a look of confusion on her face. She enters, and finds Emmet alone. She can’t shake off the feeling of dread she has as they chat. Amber then decides to go find Ingo, but before that asks Emmet to borrow his hat. He agrees, mostly because she looks adorable in his clothing. He does want his hat back later though, and Amber tells him she loves him before leaving. Emmet reciprocates the feeling, but as she leaves he thinks to himself how final that all felt.
Amber finds Ingo doing inspections in the Subway underground, Amber asks if anything has felt off today. When he replies that everything is in working order, he comments that she looks nice in their uniform. Amber laughs and asks to borrow his jacket to complete the outfit. As they are alone, he agrees and comments that the Subway has found their third Subway Boss. They banter before it is cut short as Amber’s Pokeball belt snaps off. With a shock of realization, she finally realized what was wrong as the memories of her deal with the Lake Trio return to her. She immediately pushes Ingo out of the way of the Rift, being swallowed up instead of him, and leaving the confused Subway Boss and her team behind.
Amber is found by the Pearl Clan and is taken in by them after she demonstrates her abilities as a powerful trainer. However, like Warden Ingo, Amber has amnesia and does not remember anything aside from Pokémon Battling.
The Pearl Clan are impressed and amazed after she ‘tames’ an Alpha Rapidash (among other Pokémon) and defeats all the other Wardens in battle. Later, she is chosen by Lady Sneasler and officially becomes a Warden despite being an outsider. It was mostly to repay Lady Irida and the Pearl Clan for taking her in.
Amber is generally very aloof, and zones out very often. In her mind she is replaying battles with Pokémon she's never seen before, against faces she cannot remember. But she always offers a smile for anyone that approaches.
When asked to battle, she lights up happily and asks what rules you would like to use (and takes the time to explain singles/doubles battles). Shes gained a reputation of being incredibly powerful and utterly terrifying. (Shes unaware of her ‘battle’ face, and a lot of people think she has a dual personality.)
Among the Pearl Clan, she is well liked for her helpful nature. They worry that she seems very absent minded from her amnesia, but aren’t certain what to do to help her. The Wardens and Irida at least trust her with the tasks concerning her noble, and other jobs they have for her.
Amongst the Diamond Clan, she is known for being a frightful tamer. Both Amber and Warden Melli occupy the Highlands, and Melli has discovered how fearsome Amber can truly become when he first took her hat in an attempt to snap her out of her stupor. She glared and threateningly held up a pokeball whilst demanding her hat back before once again dissociating after it was returned. (Melli later discovered that touching was okay, but taking it had Alpha Warden Amber appear.)
When Amber was first inducted as a Warden, she refused to change out her hat and jacket. Although she could never give a reason why, she continues to wear and mend them, no matter how tattered they become.
Amber also had her hair cut extremely short, and keeps the ribbon she had in her hair wrapped under her Warden’s Bracelet.
▲ Ingo and Emmet ▽
On the other hand, picking up from where Ingo and Emmet were left behind...Ingo picks up Amber’s Pokeball Belt and races off to find Emmet.
They scour the entire system looking for her, but even the cameras can’t find an explanation for what happened to her. Ingo is in disbelief and Emmet is growing more upset by the second.
Emmet wonders if this is why Amber was acting strangely before, asking to borrow his hat and telling him that she loved him all felt very final to him. He begins to cry and hugs Ingo for comfort.
The older twin keeps it together to not wind Emmet up more, but wonders if Amber knew what was going to happen. If so, why she would sacrifice herself for him? Was there no way to ensure that no one had to be taken? His mind spirals with endless possibilities or different ways that could have been.
Once Emmet has cried his fill, and Ingo has pulled his thoughts together, the twins get to work to find Amber.
They contact Riley, Amber’s brother, and Midori, her longtime friend before ultimately taking time off from the Battle Subway. The Depot Agents understand the situation and will keep the Subway Systems running for as long as the twins need.
The Bosses let everyone and the appropriate people of their departure before leaving in order to find Amber. No matter what; they will find her. After all, if either of them disappeared, they know she would do the same for them.
