Going by two different names in different parts of my life is so annoying. Neither of these names feel like my real name and I can't ask either group to start calling me by the other one.

My legal name feels like who I was as a child and I'm comfortable with my family using it, but I don't want people who meet me as an adult to use it because it feels like I'm not that person anymore.

The name "Elliot" feels like who I am now but I don't want to adopt it officially because I don't really like it (I stumbled into using it by accident. Because of El Goonish Shive if you must know) and I also don't want to come out as trans and I'm not even sure if I want to socially transition to male.

I guess what I would really like is a new name that I go by at work and in other irl settings that's not my internet name (Elliot) or my dead name. That would be more inconvenient but also more comfortable. But then I'd have to explain it to my parents...
