Been seeing some weird stuff in the tags lately so I feel I should make my position clear on shipping in the Smosh fandom, as I've seen other people do. I've recently started making more of my own posts on this blog so that's why it feels like a good idea to make this post. It might be kinda rambly and I'm sorry if my English is poor.
Idk really where to start but: 1. I think the shipping of real ppl belong in spaces where the people involved can't see it (unless they seek it out). Don't send ship-stuff to anyone who works at Smosh. 2. I think we should be respectful abt how we talk abt them in general but to be specific to this post, how we talk abt them in shipping-context. They are real ppl, with the right to privacy. 3. Speculation on ppls sexuality is not ok and its something that is very private. If they want to share it with us they will, but until then we don't know and we shouldn't assume things. 4. Shipping is meant to be fun, I don't view it as something serious. When I say I ship something I mean I like the dynamic and I think the idea of them being together as more than friends is fun but not something based in reality. 5. On that note, please be chill abt shipping! Don't send hate to ppl who ship stuff just bc you ship a different ship. If someone is being disrespectful ofc tell them, but don't be hateful for the sake of it.
I also quickly want to adress my own blog, considering I have a ship in the name of my blog. I made this blog a long time ago, and back then Courtivia was a bigger ship than it is now. I still ship it but I obviously don't think Courtney and Olivia are together in reality, nor have ever had any romantic feelings for each other. The same goes for Amangela, I don't think they are together or have any romantic feelings towards each other. I like the Courtivia and Amangela dynamics as friends and entertainers, and sometimes I engage in shipping content with them, but only in a fun fandom way.
Maybe I'm forgetting some points, might add them in later if that's the case but this my stance in general. This is probably the longest post I've ever made on this blog lmao, I hope what I've written makes sense. Feel free to ask questions abt it if it's unclear or to add points if I missed any!

Aggghhhh server owner consulted ME on advice for something I left the server over????
I'm gonna just throw the whole situation out here soooo
New person joins the server.
All is well, although new person is kinda anoyying at times, but aren't we all?
Little bit passes and new person is a bit hostile to another member for making an innocent joke, so yet another member comes in and defends the joking member.
Turns out this new person has a personality disorder and subsumes fictional characters into themselves which act out as their own personalities (they referred to them as fictives so I'll just call them that).
So these fictives start stirring up even more of a shitstorm with rude comments, edgy one-liners, and just generally things not appreciated by the server in general.
At this point, everyone who has said something is on the joking member's side and has taken up arguing with the new person.
I try to stay out of it for a while until I say "What in the fresh hell has this devolved into"
This prompts a few members to think about what happened, and do the logical thing of just muting the server for a bit.
Except for one.
This guy is kinda hellbent on dealing with the new member and their fictives.
So they're arguing and at this point the new member has broken at least 4 rules.
I try to stop the arguing because the new guy begins to break another rule of the server, no self deprecation.
I attempt to say that if they need help they can get it. Whether its just telling someone what's going on or getting professional help, they CAN get some kind of help as long as they have people to talk to.
They then say that they can't physically get help because of money expenses, then says I don't understand why they can't.
Now, I am currently in therapy, and I just wanna say: some therapists don't charge as much as you think, and I've heard of some who in certain cases will do it for free.
I again attempt to tell them that I DO understand the problems with getting therapy.
Then they stop for a while.
They come back as soon as we think the tirade has stopped, and they keep up the insults and shit.
Eventually, tHEY INVITE A NEW MEMBER MID ARGUMENT.
I'd like to add that this is violating server rules of "no inviting without asking the owner"!
So now there's another new person and theyre utterly confused bc they joined mid argument, and at this point I'm feeling like shit because the fictive person keeps just fucking getting angry at me for trying to help.
I then said sorry, and left the server.
Then, like half an hour later, the owner messages me and asks at what point would've been a good point to put the fictive user in discord timeout.
I'm kinda confused because I felt I caused more problems than I started, but I give my reccomendation of 2 warnings then timeout on third violation of rules + get a server mod.
After all this I just wanna know:
Am I the asshole for trying to help and then getting a bit mad (which led to me leaving the server)?
