"There's only one Canadian accent" okay then tell me how everyone up here can clock where I'm from simply by me saying Toronto
#sasha speaks#I'm not from toronto but it's still pretty close (~50km)#I have a golden horseshoe accent and I will not hide this fact#look up the wikipedia page for toronto and it will explain to you how locals pronounce it#I pronounce it like 'trahnuh'#I'm still in ontario just north#and people sound very different here#there are three very distinct english canadian dialects#1. west coast 2. golden horseshoe 3. newfoundland#my friend from rural newfoundland is mostly incomprehensible when he speaks normally#so he has to switch to a more neutral accent for us#I don't know enough about what people from the prairies sound like and honestly I don't care#anyway I greatly miss the golden horseshoe :(
