Was volition ever making real money after SR2? Sure, SR3/4 had the previous titles to ride off of into a hype train, but like...
Anytime were they a good company after SR2? I genuinely called they weren't gonna last going with the genuinely immedietely outdated nature and artistry they went with.
It was inherently not it's own style at any point. Felt like every conceivable element was a toe in a pond by actual children who didn't see a single bit of art that wasn't oldschool gamer mid 2000s youtuber tropes.
Like I'd call the entire writing, artistry, characters, and themes, an AVGN knock off.
Good riddance. Be an example of why not to aim your audience at 2000s 13 year olds in the 2010s and 2020s. It wasn't even cool or funny then ya'll.
#saints row#volition#I'm certain there were some creatives on there that were cool#for the most part though? It was all downhill after 2#controls were worse#animations were artistically very very basic but not interesting or unique in their own right#story doesn't matter just skip the cutscenes#characters lack any character#It really isn't a studio to be missed and I genuinely hope most of the problem creatives Do Not Get Another Job in that space#like these games will not survive any test of time#SR1 & 2 absolutely will and have#fact remains that they banked on SR3 again and it failed yet again#I don't get how a company and creative team can run into a wall over and over expecting the same degree of laughter#you were kings#you became clowns#and lost all respect when you kept being a clown well into our almost 30s#just genuinely pathetic#if you haven't played the SR reboot that killed them. Trust me. I'm not being harsh#This is reality. I ain't speaking truth#I'm merely observing reality and relaying what you yourself can see for yourself without me#fuck#rip saints row 2.5 and the saints row 2 PC port fix they utterly fucking murdered like actual bastards
