Dawn Of The Simfected Set-Up
(2)
Meet Charles, a nightshift dock worker, a loner that likes to curl up with a good book and avoid social interactions. When the neighbours start to get a bit bitey, Charles manages to avoid becoming a Sim-burger and finds himself in charge of a small group trying to make it to tomorrow and not only survive but thrive. Or do they? Try the challenge and see.
To begin:
When selecting a new game, select the story option where you answer questions to create a Sim. Select young adult and then just click randomly on the answers. Don't change too much about the Sim created. You can also use https://perchance.org/random-sim-generator. Best is to start with a male Sim.
Your Sims will have to be tested for the virus on a regular basis. The test is simple, just roll the dice and if you get even numbers, your Sim is safe. Uneven number means your Sim is infected so roll again and if you roll even numbers, they stay alive. Uneven numbers means your Sim didn't make it. If your Sims rolls clean or survive, they are immune for two rolls. When your Sim “dies” because of a roll, you can either have them die for real and have Grim come get them or change them into a zombie and move them out.
Start in Spring in San Myshuno in 17 Culpepper House in the spice market. Set life span to long and seasons to max, turn off the celebrity system, turn on the basic living system in lot challenges and you're only allowed to have the cheapest of the cheap furniture. Open the calendar and go to the first day of autumn. Create a holiday called "supply run" and choose fighting as a tradition(this holiday can be deleted once done). After a few days in game, go to the first day spring and create a holiday called "The Beginning" so your Sims can always celebrate this day. Set funds to $500.
Go to Strangerville to the Sigworth household. Give Jess the pack items(by pressing shift on Jess and going to pack cheats), put her in a hazmat suite and open all the doors to the motherplant at the secret lab to activate the Strangeville storie. When she returns to her lot, zombie proof it the way you'd think someone with a military background and in a hurry would do. Give her ammo, a weapon and a radio from the zombie mod and listen to the broadcast to activate the zombie event. Do one event every day for 3 days.
Mods for this challenge: ⦁ Deaderpool's MC Command Center ⦁ Sacrificial's Zombie, Life Manager, Release Bladder Anywhere ⦁ Zero's historical mods ⦁ Turbodriver's Wicked or Wonderful whims ⦁ Frankk's Language Barrier ⦁ LittleMsSam's Miscarriage ⦁ Pandasama's Child Birth ⦁ NeedCoffee4That's Begging and Pick-pocket ⦁ Lumpinou's RPO Collection and Rambunctious Religions ⦁ Midnitetech's Hunter, Gatherer and Crafter careers When moving over to stage: ⦁ Kuttoe's Enlist in war ⦁ adeepindigo Health redux ⦁ Basemental's drugs and gangs
Supernaturals are "infected" so they can't be added to your household.
World Setup:
Rooftop lot in the City: should be on one of the roofs with a campfire, generator, water tower, tents, washing line and tub. This lot will have water and power but the simple living trait.
In the spice district create a clinic lot with a army feel to it on one of the ground lots in the spice district.
Create a groceries store in the city.
Build a vet clinic that doubles as a hospital. Willow Creek, Newcrest, Windenburg, Evergreen, Mt. Komberi, Tartosa and San Sequoia are all available.
Build a "trader" post on the bar lots in Henford, Brindelton, Chestnut and Sulani.
Build a military base in Oasis Springs with family housing
Build a science facility in Strangerville with family housing
In Henford, Brindleton and Chestnut on the largest lot build a town (think Hilltop from The Walking Dead). Make it a rental property so many Sims can live in your town.
All towns are destroyed. It's the apocalypse, seed your worlds accordingly.
This challenge is ever evolving. I'm trying to use every world, every pack and use every bit of what Sims 4 has to offer.
Next post you'll get to meet the Sims your going to find in game. I've uploaded most of them to the gallery already or you can create your own. Gallery ID: suesimming

My Paralives Impressions~
Relationships [link]:
Back when I was much more involved in the brainstorming of paralives with other peeps, this is an idea that cropped up and it's cool to see how they came up with this concept. You aren't just friends or lovers with people, every relationship has multiple different faucets. Great for storytelling. Also would be fun to switch households and learn this para you like a lot maybe secretly hates your guts. I remember someone bring up a relationship where they hate each other's guts but still kiss every other Friday (I can't remember if the devs confirmed that could happen but I imagine it could) I always liked how in Sims 2 relationships were more of a two way street and this is a great modernization of that concept imo.
Togetherness [link]
Obviously they're still filling in animations here and there, but I remember being amazed by how easy it was to create group interactions. No more clicking a character one by one to make them enter a specific room or sit at a table together or whatever. I feel like it could still be improved… the method to select them all I mean. Well, you can still just click on them to select the ones you want instead of dragging your mouse so you've got options. Pretty sure I read once that the Paras you select outside your household won't necessarily agree to being "together" with you. Can't just select the whole town and demand they do push ups or dance with you.
Togetherness Cards [link] (though the video mostly showed them in group interactions, they are in single interactions too)
I'm generally pleased with the direction they decided to go here. Instead of having to click over and over again to keep a conversation going between paras, you can have an ongoing interaction and influence it every now and then optionally. Just feels a little more natural too. Would two strangers with absolutely no chemistry really become besties after one interaction in a typical Sims fashion? Nope, and that's kinda fun. By going with something like this, if an attraction system is put into place (which I can't remember exists yet or not), then two paras who ACTUALLY have something in common or are attracted to each other maybe can naturally become besties in a shorter amount of time and skip some steps in between.
I remember some people wondering if the card choosing could be autonomous (as in, you don't even have to click it, the game could choose for you) so went to check. Here were some dev comments on the matter,
"Choosing cards is the way to advance relationships, and having Paras select one automatically could have big impacts on your game without you understanding why, it's certainly something we could think about tho :)"
So maybe won't be something available for release, but maybe in the future. I like to play it risky with high autonomy myself so I hope it's a thing.
Jobs [link]
A while back when someone posted that youtube video of a guy saying Paralives is pretty much just the Sims with a different coat of paint and don't have enough mechanics to differentiate itself from the Sims. This is the part that made me scratch my head the most. I mean, other than they different take on social interactions and personality, even the careers system is not something I've seen in The Sims. Not even the active careers are like this. I was even more confused when he claimed he was a patron member and saw everything and still had this opinion.
I like that you have somewhat of a choice in what you want to do with your job. Like me right now irl. I'm very comfortable where I am. I'm not trying to climb a corporate ladder or get a promotion. Sure, I'd like a raise every now and then but I like my current job. With a system like this, you don't HAVE to chase the corporate ladder. You can just have your job and slowly build up perks within it.
Also the fact that there's not really "career tracks". You don't start your job at the local hospital as a bed pan cleaner and someday become a top surgeon. You have to actually apply for different positions and sometimes they're not even associated with the same business/company. I really like that little touch of realism. The road to the top isn't a straight line, but a maze with some dead ends along the way.
They said there wouldn't be active jobs at the time of early access release, so I wonder how it's going to work. I mean, we saw Anisa getting a job in the video but not much else. Maybe she disappears when she gets to the building ala Sims 3 career rugs. I would have no problem with something like that since I'm quite used to it. It's not a complete rabbit hole and still allows you to fill out the town with custom buildings and decor. Maybe the more basic jobs like being a Barista aren't necessarily "active", but Anisa will stand there for 8 hours a day taking coffee orders at the register like an NPC/role sim.
Needs/Wants [link]
This is the part I really wanted to see peoples opinions on. It's quite different from LBY, Sims, and Inzoi. There are no needs meters, just a general statement of what the Para is feeling. I'm like 50/50 on it. I actually like the idea, but I wonder how I will feel playing it? It's like forcing you to be less micromanagy and just enjoy playing the game rather than watching your needs meter like a spreadsheet simulator. But what if there's something going on in the world or the para is sick? I would want to know exactly what I need to fix before it gets too bad and all their needs are suddenly red…. but then again, it's kinda a fun challenge to guess how they're actually feeling without the meters?? I dunno. Still hoping fears or something makes a comeback but not sure how it would work here. Maybe if you do the exact opposite of what the "want" stays. Like "I don't want to talk to this para". You make them talk to that Para and they get upset? Dunno.
Anyway, I really love all the concepts they've developed and implemented. They seem to have fun tinkering around with it but I guess the general audience can't truly know how it plays until we get a chance to do it ourselves. I didn't expect them to announce early access even though I speculated maybe they could. So looking forward to next year~

Part Two
Constant Kitchen fires (no specific cause) Multiple Interactions drop from queue Sim swims under ground Sims hugging backwards/arm glitches Check baby interrupts all attempts to care for baby Can't clean dishes cause of missing trash can (there is one) Sims stand instead of eating at table - excluding then the sim is prioritizing talking to someone while eating. I had figured this was an annoying issue of the table being "too far" from where the cooking is done, like in another room. But I made a house with the table RIGHT THERE by the stove and the sim STILL just stood in front of the stove and ate there. like an idiot lol Active Sims obsessed with cooking waffles/pizza - yup they'll eat waffles then immediately make more waffles. i mean i get it… i do… mmm waffles… Keep going outside during storms - yup and to do nothing. there might be something to do outdoors and there might not. either way the sims will go with nothing queued and just stand there till they get struck by lightning. recently I even had a sim who was indoors somehow not register as being indoors?? and he had to go outside and come back in… Sims hold umbrella while swimming in ocean Lifestyle Outdoorsy: gets negative moodlet for being inside while outside - Y'ALL KNOW THIS ONE REALLY GETS MY GOAT Can't cook on campfire when simple living applied - happy to see others beside me upset about this one. it just. does not make sense Treehouses can't be built in community lots
And those are only bugs I'm experiencing right now and doesn't even cover all of them x'D for example there are a ton of build mode bugs I keep encountering. Also I didn't check off bugs that I encounter but don't consider a big deal (like sims not washing dishes, since I can click and drag them to the sink myself), because the list would be way longer then. There are also others on the list that I used to get but don't anymore. And I'm so surprised I didn't see any about the constant sims getting struck by lightning during the VERY frequent storms!
One thing I found that kinda "bugs" me: whenever someone complais about a cheat not working, the response is that we're not "supposed" to be using cheats so fixing them isn't important. But IMHO Sims 4 is completely unplayable without cheats. How are you supposed to complete aspirations or get promotions when those things are bugged beyond use without cheats? How are you supposed to pay incorrectly exorbitant bills that are higher than your household income? How are you supposed to get rid of stubborn moodlets that never expire? How are you supposed to save your sim from death when they somehow route into a crevice but can't route out?
Simmers need cheats. Not because we're cheater. Because the game. Is. Broken. xP
