I don't know if I've ever said this but my baba loves to call Hakim "weld cha3b" ("son of the people" but it doesn't sound right in english). He's very close to the sons of one of his closest friends who passed away years ago and whenever one of them calls him or comes visit us he always greets him with "weld cha3b dyali". which is quite funny to me, because he's saying "my son of the people" - like my son, but also a son of the people. A weld cha3b, for him, is someone who lost one or both parents and gets adopted by the entire community. It's his way to say we need to care for each other, especially in the diaspora. He has a special affection for all moroccan kids in the diaspora as he is very fond of the national team and its diaspora kids especially. or Hakim especially, So he calls him that because you know, he's a moroccan son of his people and always will be. weld cha3b.
