The number of people in the notes who think this post means that the issue is specifically female characters is a little out of hand. It comes up most with girls, but make no mistake: I don't think any of the main male cast are mom friends either

The Sonic fandom seems to suffer from mom-friendification syndrome, where fans constantly make female characters into the "mom friend"/mature, responsible one in the group

#I'm concerned for the people who think sonic and Shadow are mom friends #Knuckles I can at least understand the reasoning even if I don't agree #sonic the hedgehog #sth #knuckles the echidna #shadow the hedgehog #sonic #The problem is partly the insistence on forcing female characters into nurturing/motherly roles #And partly the insistence on forcing groups to fit into a certain dynamic #Which means *someone* needs to be the mom friend
