[ID: Four sets of images featuring Ace Attorney fanart with Detective Conan and Magic Kaito characters. Shinichi is in Conan form for all of them.
1 - A pen sketch of Kaito Kid on the witness stand, in the style of the game. He is frowning. His text box says, "The lights came back on... and the man was dead in front of me."
2 - A pen sketch of Phoenix rubbing the back of his neck, smiling nervously and looking up. He is saying, "I don't suppose you can summon spirits?" The second part shows Shinichi looking up with an exasperated expression, saying "Huh?" as Phoenix says off-screen "Just kidding..."
3 - A digital sketch of Phoenix and Shinichi sitting on the couch in the defense lobby. Shinichi is leaning over to look, annoyed, and Phoenix, equally annoyed and exasperated, is saying, "Uh... I hate to ask, but weren't you handcuffed a minute ago?" The second part shows Kid, not handcuffed, leaning his head on one hand and smiling, saying "Hm?"
4 - A mock text conversation between Sonoko (the sender) and Ran (the receiver). Typos have been corrected; Ran's words are in all caps and Sonoko's are lowercase except for "believe."
Sonoko: Ran i'm in the courtroom now and u won't believe who's here
Ran: ?
Sonoko sends a blurry picture of Phoenix and Shinichi from behind, sitting at the defense bench. In front of them is Edgeworth at the prosecutor's bench.
Ran: Is that conan
Sonoko: Yeah lmao why's he here? Also both the lawyers look like nerds. Oops judge says no phones ttyl
End ID.]

Hear me out. I think an Ace Attorney case with Spies are Forever characters would be really interesting/entertaining.
This isn't super well-thought out. Like I have the general idea I just don't have a solid conclusion/ending. Also this is gonna be LONG so i'm putting it under a cut
If you're unfamiliar with Ace Attorney, here's the general formula for most of the cases in the original trilogy of games:
Phoenix Wright is a defense attorney that keeps getting very high-profile murder cases despite being broke all of the time. Miraculously, all of his clients are innocent and are usually being framed/in the wrong place at the wrong time. So Phoenix and his assistant Maya (who can talk to ghosts) have to investigate and prove their clients innocent in court (as well as finding the true culprit) all while dealing with the most antagonistic prosecutors known to mankind.
Oh and he also has a magic rock that tells him when someone is hiding something (important for later!!!)
So here's the general idea.
Ex-government employee Curt Mega is found dead in a fancy hotel room tied to a chair. The defendant is some British guy who was disguised as another British guy and he seems intent on the fact that it's his fault (Lana Skye-style if that means anything to you guys). Which is NOT great for Phoenix because he's trying to prove this guy innocent.
Phoenix can tell Owen is lying about having done the murder because the little magic rock I mentioned earlier picked it up. However, he doesn't have enough evidence to refute it just yet so the investigation continues.
Overall I think Phoenix and Owen's interactions have some really good comedic potential because they're both major dorks who are into the arts and also Phoenix's constant bluffing and insane luck makes him come across as scheming and as someone who has planned everything out.
My first instinct is to compare Phoenix to Curt because they're both the snarky hero/underdog but especially in aa5, there's a striking amount of similarities to Owen there as well.
Anyways, back to the investigation. Where we run into the prosecutor for the case. Ngl I still don't know who it should be because the main three that I'm thinking of are all REALLY good options
Miles Edgeworth: A classic. If this is gonna be a spies crossover we NEED the homoerotic tension that always exists between Phoenix and Miles.
Franziska von Karma: WE NEED MORE FRANZISKA. Criminally underrated. 19 year old under extreme pressure to be the best. I think there's possible character development to be had with her and tatiana as a witness
Godot: There's the obvious parallels to Owen here as well. A man who seemed to appear out of nowhere who's actually a former defense attorney back from the (near) death with a new identity and wears a mask to cover up some of his injuries. The downside is I highkey find his specific brand of misogyny really annoying.
ANYWAY. To Phoenix's dismay, all of our potential witnesses are just as helpful as Owen is.
The informant's information and testimony is flimsy at best. Aka she wasn't paying as much attention as she should've been (got too wrapped up in her cover as a dealer in the casino below the hotel and doesn't wanna get fired).
Tatiana flat out doesn't say anything to anyone (including the prosecutors + cops) because her friend just died and she may or may not be blackmailed into staying quiet.
Also a third and maybe fourth person depending on how long the case goes on for.
I don't actually know who'd be the actual culprit would be? My first idea was that a drink Curt was given at the hotel bar would've been poisoned by someone and he just so happened to die before Owen got to him (not like Owen would've been able to kill him anyway but thats neither here nor there) but I have no idea who.
The main turning point is that all of the physical injuries Curt received right before and after death (getting shot, stabbed, choked, electrocuted, what have you) would've seriously screwed up the autopsy data. And its not until a clear timeline is painted out that the mystery gets a little clearer.
Maybe it's another Chimera agent. Maybe Chimera got what they need from Owen and they're like "Okay yeah there's this other guy who's really annoying us so we can take down two birds with one stone and also get rid of this lose end that we really don't need anymore in the process"
It wouldn't be the first time Phoenix accidentally stumbled into a major conspiracy similar to this (cough cough, Rise from the Ashes with Lana and Gant). It just depends on people's interpretation of Chimera and how they function versus whether they see Owen as a valuable asset beyond stealing the deed.
ANYAY that's all the thoughts I have for now. I will probably come back later with more fleshed out character interactions and stuff like that.
if I make a detailed crossover au between my two major interests rn would y'all support me

some character sheets for an ace attorney oc :-) he's a coroner for the lapd, and has been friends with miles since high school
he's also the main character of a fic i'm writing called loser's turnabout! set between "turnabout goodbyes" and "rise from the ashes," it features an unsolved murder, a falsely accused coroner, and lots of weird gay drama >:-)c
alt text below the cut
[Image 1: In the top right corner, the artist has written "Francis Bones" in all lowercase cursive with a purple marker, and has drawn a simple eye and a bone. In the top left corner is a side view of Francis, facing right, with brown hair and a braid just in front of his ear. Below that is a paper collage of a suit with a black jacket, black slacks, and a purple tie. Below the suit is a drawing of Francis facing forward, his uncolored hair floating upwards. He has 7 eyes, each colored a different color of the rainbow. under where Francis' name is written is a drawing of his hands, with multiple rings and a bracelet on that says "6.9.10." Below that is a drawing of a Victorian style house with a large observatory on top, which is labelled "Seeker's Eye," and has the caption "Built by Clifford Seeker in the early 1900s, it's been in for family for 5 generations. Shame he doesn't live there anymore..." Below the caption is the phrase "GB-5" written in large, purple letters. Next to that is another drawing of an eye. END]
[Image 2: A drawing of Francis, with his customary braids, wearing a a sweater with a suit jacket over it, along with slacks and wingtip shoes, and holding a briefcase. There are four arrows pointing at him, the first pointing at his shirt: "Only really dresses up for court," the second pointing at his right arm: "Loves sweaters," the third pointing at his right foot, where you can see his socks, printed with small hearts: "Funny socks," and a fourth pointing at his briefcase: "Full of autopsy reports." On the left side of the page are four drawings. The topmost one is a drawing of Francis' hands with the same rings he's wearing in image on. There are three arrows pointing at his left hand, stating "Nails always painted," "Wears lots of rings," and a third pointing at a scar on the left-side of his left hand that states "Got this scar when he was attacked by Killian." Below the right hand is a drawing of Francis crying with a bloody nose, which is labelled "Cried a lot during his arrest/while in prison." To the left of this drawing is a small box labelled "Loser's Turnabout," which says: "While getting ready to celebrate winning a case w/ Edgeworth, and his friend + assistant Vickie Tam, Francis Bones and Tam are attacked in her apartment. When Bones wakes up after being knocked out, Vickie is dead, but when he calls the police, they arrest Bones, as there's no sign they were attacked except Vickie's body and Bones's broken nose." Below this box is a drawing of Vickie Tam, labelled with her name and age (20). She has almond-shaped eyes and dimples, and her hair is in a bun. To her right is a drawing of Killian Wrong, labelled with his name and age (30). His hair is slicked back and he's looking to the right with a smirk. END]
[Image 3: A drawing of Francis Bones (left) and Miles Edgeworth (right) in 2006m when they were 14 years old. Francis is looking to the left, with his hands in the pockets of his hoodie. He's also wearing long shorts and Converse sneakers. Instead of the two braids in front of his ears he has a Padawan braid. He also has a septum piercing. Below him, there's an arrow pointing to a label that states, "Bones came out when he was 10, so Edgeworth only know him as a guy until they got their freshman yearbooks." Edgeworth is earing a vest, slacks, button-up shirt, a jabot, and wingtip shoes. He's listening to an iPod with earbuds. Between the two boys is a paragraph that says: "Edgeworth + Bones originally met at the high school they both attended, bonding over their feelings of being in the wrong place. While Edgeworth was quickly accepted into the Bones family, Bones himself was banned from entering the von Karma household, as Manfred found him annoying and to rebellious. After high school, the two wrote letters often, but only coincidentally ended up in the same district as a coroner and prosecutor respectively." END]
[Image 4: A drawing of Francis wearing a PE uniform (shorts and a t-shirt with his last name written on it). He's holding a baseball bat over his right shoulder, and his hair has been styled to cover his right eye. Next to this is a drawing of Edgeworth with a bruised left eye, glaring at something to the right of the page. Francis (not shown) is asking him "You okay, KM?" to which Edgeworth responds, "I got hit in the eye with a baseball. What do you think?" Below this drawing is a drawing of Edgeworth playing Silent Hill on a TV, with Francis hovering over his left shoulder pointing at the screen and saying "There's something in the fog over there." Edgeworth responds, "Quiet. I'm trying to listen," and Bones replies, "Listen to what?" These three sketches have arrows pointing to them that indicate the events take place in 2007. At the bottom right of the page is a drawing of Francis (right) and Edgeworth's (left) heads, facing away from each other. Francis is saying "KM," while Edgeworth says "Bugs." A caption below the drawing says "2008, got in an argument but hate ignoring each other." There's also an arrow pointing at Edgeworth that says "IDK how to draw cravats." The final sketch, at the bottom left of the page is of the top halves of Francis (right) and Edgeworth's (left) faces. They're looking at a small cat between them, which has an arrow indicating that his name is Pavlov. Below this is a caption that says "3 weeks before... 2010." END]
[Image 5: At the left of the page is a drawing of Francis and Edgeworth (wearing the same outfits they were wearing in image 3) standing in a doorway. Francis has his left hand over his mouth, and is holding his right arm out to prevent Edgeworth from entering the room. In the bottom right corner of the page is an arm. There's a caption in the top right corner of the page that says "On June 9, 2010, Francis Bones and Miles Edgeworth returned to the Bones residence after going to a local grocery store for popsicles. They planned to go to Francis's room upstairs, but when his parents did not respond to their called greetings, Francis and Miles went to the kitchen, where they found Ambriel and Rosalind bones dead on the floor with their throats slit. Investigators later found that they drank lemonade laced with near-fatal amounts of oxycodone. END]
