so the next chapter of Ties That Bind is the one I’ve been putting off for weeks because it’s just. I’m not happy with it. the only issue is, I’m not sure I can cut it?? it’s kind of filler, I can’t remember the technical writing term for it rn but it’s sorta the ‘calm after the storm’ and the last stop before rising action. so from a narrative structure POV it has to be there, but I don’t like that it’s 100% about the romance arc. the only issue is I can’t rewrite it or skip all of it, bc the end of the chapter is important, and the meat of the chapter is the first steps in the ‘long conversations’ needed to reconnect the group so I’m stuck with this chapter it seems x-x I know some of you really enjoy the romance plot so it probably won’t upset you, and it’s pretty self indulgent so it should be fun to read. but. for others it’ll be skipable, and you can go to the end and read the last scene and then be ready for the rising action. just wanted to give a heads up before I post it tmrw, since I was trying one last ditch effort to fix it with no progress. I have a feeling you’ll all really like it regardless of how I feel about it anyway XD I know I’m too harsh on my own work. this is unfortunately one of the chapters that suffers for being a serialized work, rather than one I wrote in full and edited before posting
