i just found a blog from one of the devs of disco elysium (I don't know from where tho). It contains some designs of Harry, evrart, roy from the pawshop and so on. It also has a link to gameplay from the alpha (maybe on the same channel you can find more, I haven't dug in). And I want to mention Kim was supposed to have volition and endurance stats (you can see them above his portrait) and Cuno and C weren't by the tree yet.
In the dev blog there is also link to an interview with Rovert Kurvitz (without any spoiler). They mention the authority failure with Acele (one of my favourite honestly), and they talk about influences and give a general idea of the concept and ambiance but also the gameplay.
There is also a lot of text explaining the system of checks and the skills which I find very entertaining to read.
I wanted to highlight that at some point in development Lena was actually going to be a party member (but the wheelchair had a lot of problems in the map, and they wanted to center a lot on interactive dialogue which was expensive with only one party member).
And lastly, this amazing image of the blog
Some people surely know about all of this but I find it so cool to see the snippets of the game while it's still in development.

SO sorry for being That Person who keeps asking about mahouseki even though it was 14 years ago. Anyway you mentioned once that you gave them new outfits/designs, you've drawn Miya's new design a few times (LOVE it btw), would you ever be up for showing concepts, sketches etc for the others? I'd love to see them c:
How has it been 14 years already....... Feels like it was yesterday 😨
Anyway, no need to be sorry for asking! I'll post some of the stuff I have drawn over the years, but unfortunately I have very well kept the habit of not putting most of my ideas on paper 😂 (For those who don't know what this is about: Mahouseki is a "show" that I wanted to make when I was 12 and posted about it over the internet back then; I have since then drawn and remade the characters for fun because they live in my heart rent-free. And yes, it's this blog's name.)
In order: Ai, Miya, Kazuko, Kaoru, Emiko, Shiroi These are the most recent designs I have drawn (beginning of 2020 I think). I was coming out of a burn-out from a bad situation and started playing around RPG Maker (a game making engine) with Mahouseki characters! These are menu window test portraits. Unfortunately, it seems I misplaced the original PSD and have lost it, so that's the only picture I have of them lol
Those are from 2014 to 2016. Around that time I also decided to change the girls more drastically to make them a bit less generic-and-color-coded-same-face-anime-girls and more unique. I ended up giving them a hint of ethinicity and changed their skin colors a bit; most notably Kaoru and Kazuko became darker skinned (I love their new versions so much ugh) Ai was the most difficult of them all, as you can problably figure! It wasn't until 2019 that I made an outfit for her that I found satistying. She also went through haircut changes, as did everyone else except Miya. Miya somehow just... works out on the first time, always. Kazuko is pretty much the same personality wise; Kaoru changed radically. She was originally an ojou-sama-ara-ara type girl, but since Emiko was also an ojou-sama archetype... there was no need for both of them. I realized the group lacked a free spirited and humorous character, then Kaoru came in to fill that niche. Before that I considered making her an "yandere" archetype and I'm so glad I abandoned that idea... Emiko is pretty much the same as well.
These are some more recent drawings, all from 2020. One thing I really like nowadays is putting the characters side-by-side and try to make them different from each other. Kinda feels like spending time with them and figuring out their different world views, which is very fun to me! Oh, and that is also the Ai's design that I ended up with. Except her back view has already changed again... (no more weird opening and butterfly drawing) And an extra Miyuki from my sister's "show" for those who knew it!
And here is an unfinished piece of Ai from last year that I liked a lot, but lost steam in the middle of it and ended up just letting it go. I love the simplicity of it though...
An extra: here's a very fresh 3 days old sketch of Kiyotaka, the orange haired boy that was barely seem back them. This is based off one of his first versions when I wanted him to be a "bad boy"... 100% 2000's shoujo manga love interest vibes, I love it.
And here's a 2016 sketch of Ai and Kiyotaka that I absolutely hated when I made it but now find it interesting. As always, everything I make seems more palatable years after... Anyway, that's it for today! If you still have any questions, please go ahead and ask :) Even after all those years, Mahouseki is still one of the most fun things I ever draw 😆
