Man, they really adultified the shit out of Saiou in the dub, didn't they...
#yugioh gx#saiou takuma#i went to watch the og version from the start bc the hyperfixation from 8 years ago is kicking in again#and it was such a shock bc??? I completely forgot how different the two were???#like#in the original it is - from the start - pretty clearly implied that Saiou is only supposed to be about 17 or 18 (?)#yk Cronos commenting on how surprisingly young he is for a manager and later introducing him as a 3rd year trnsfr student#Meanwhile in the eng ver. he's 'the oldest living freshman' he manages several pros and the way he both talks and is talked to-#-just make him seem like he's some middle-aged weirdo as apposed to like...a literal teenager WHAT.#*screams into the void*#yes this is petty#yes this is just me rambling to absolutely no-one#but this just feels so not ok to me#and to be completely honest#I'm a wee bit sus that pulled that to try and no-homo the thing between him and Edo#because I also noticed that their interactions (especially) early on in the dub realy lack the casual intimacy they had originaly#y'all look#I'll defend the dub with my life any other day (it's hilarious and wacky and should be 100% respected for that)#but this kind of upsets me...#AGAIN IT'S IS A ME PROBLEM I KNOW#*that THEY pulled that
