I can not stop thinking about the bittersweet conversations Enji and Rei are gonna be having post canon given where their relationship was left off.
"You should probably go home now."
"And leave you here? How are you expecting to get back inside?"
"...I'm not that useless."
And she'd sigh because they have this conversation every day. And every day she tells him that she'll decide what he does and does not deserve and in time he'll learn to accept that and they'll go grocery shopping.
