Wild how I used to browse Craigslist and shit looking at the shitboxes for sale and there'd always be something like a beaten old Mustang GT or a rust-around-the-fenders Toyota Celica or a plethora of dented V6 Accords for cheap but now they're just flat out gone. It's not newer cars in their places, there are just no shitboxes left. If you put in RWD/Manual/<$5000 there's flat out nothing even remotely worth buying. I meet less and less people who drive some cheap little machine for fun or have a project car or anything, and the few shitboxes I see are priced so high that it outstrips normal "collector car" appreciation by magnitudes. The idea of driving for pleasure or just actually liking your car seems to be dying, let alone the idea that a pleasurable car can be affordable to the lay-person and that makes me sad. I don't think people actually like SUVs and luxo-trucks, I think they've either been convinced they're supposed to like it or that there truly is no joy in driving outside of bullying other drivers and wrapping yourself in the scariest steel cocoon possible. I miss eyeing $3000 300zx Z31s and SN95 mustangs and just like, dreaming about em, you know?
