For fanfiction tropes, fake dating and soulmate AUs

I'd give those an A! I think I'd be very hypocritical if I said otherwise considering how often I've written them.

That said, I feel like I only like soulmate AUs if there's a reason for them to believe that something's gone wrong and they don't have have a soulmate. It's my favorite angst to write. I've done it a bunch of different ways... their soulmate has a name that doesn't fit the necessary naming scheme, their soulmate is an alien, their soulmate is undead... I just love the angst of a character believing that either their soulmate is dead or that they're so fucked up that they don't have one... only for them to find out surprise!! joke's on you, you're loved as hell!

And fake dating is just always fun. Like the possibilities for UST are just limitless. And the internal angst, too! It's super fun to write and to read.
