Absolutely inhaled Fingersmith by Sarah Waters the last few days while recovering from being sick and riding out this horrid heatwave. I love a no plot just vibes situation but it is so special when a novel can balance a gripping, twisty plot with deeply complex characters and has you thinking, feeling and simply enthralled all at once. The Paying Guests was one of my favourites last year too and I'm now convinced I have to read everything Sarah Waters has ever written. I love the sapphic romance aspect of her work but I also just think she is so brilliant at creating characters that feel real and at conjuring an atmosphere. She reminds me why I love reading and writing so much which is one of the highest compliments I can give to an author. Just so so good and highly recommend giving her books a try if you haven't!
