Random OC Loredump/Tidbits–Language pt.1
Catalina communicates with her Vozhd/Szlachta via chittering and trills, alongside her usage of Animalism, by using her inner mandibles. An extra layer of security to ensure other Kindred can't easily sway the creatures.
This ability also extends to the rest of the Bratovitch family, albeit different. Each Revenant undergoes a modification to the upper palette that allow them to create these chittering noises with some restrictions. The Revenants are only able to give basic verbal commands. This is due to Catalina ensuring the modification does not jeopardize the Revenants' ability to blend into normal society.
The modification is done via vicissitude, and its closest irl comparison is the tymbal on cicadas. The sounds produced can reach up to 100 decibels at close range.
The trills/chittering doesn't stop with the flesh-crafted creatures. It also extends to the family themselves. They've created their own shorthand to speak amongst themselves in secret when around unknown kindred/ghouls; however, in order to work with the palette restrictions, there had to be some watering down of the clicks/chitters.
The closest comparison to what it's sounds like would be akin to Jeringonza. It sounds like instead of adding Chi after each vowel of a word and repeating the vowel; it would be a chitter. It's very pitch and speed dependent.
Taking a step away from insect noises for a moment. All members from Catalina's branch of the Bratovitch family are, at the very least, bilingual. The common languages in the family are Spanish and English. However, there is a little bit of french sprinkled from fur trading with frenchmen in the early 1800s.
