i see a lot of people apprehensive about how the crows will be integrated into the ravka storyline and i will tell u why i am not worried at all. it is because when i watched season one with a few partners and friends who haven't read the books, one asked, "omg, what is inej and alina's relationship like in the books??" and was FLABBERGASTED when i said they've never met in the canon.

"WHAT. BUT. BUT IT'S EVERYTHING????"

the show is absolutely going to make mincemeat of the canon crows timeline and transpose important book moments to earlier in the series and forge relationships that are different or nonexistent in the book canon. but this is Exciting As Hell 2 me. because eric heisserer and leigh bardugo both have intimate understandings of these characters and their themes and what makes important, compelling, well-constructed television.

there's every chance that i'll HATE what's done with the crows this season and i'll eat these words. but in the meantime. seeing zoya and inej together in the trailer?? knowing how isolated and lonely both are in the canon?? knowing how they hail from the same cultural background and both have extremely different experiences with prejudice and assimilation?? Well, there's a @lilacthebooklover fic called World's Okayest Uncle which is about Paul being the unofficial uncle to all the kids in Hatchetfield. So far there's Richie, Alice and Pete, but it's still a really good read.

I haven't read it myself yet but @marvelmaniac715 wrote Gotta Get Back To School which is about the Lords In Black going to...you guessed it: school. It's also funny that the title is a line from the first show Starkid ever did - A Very Potter Musical ("I gotta get back to Hogwarts, I gotta get back to schooool~")

There is the series "The Guy Who Didn't Like... Fanfiction" by mynameisapoet_iamaphilip which has some really nice little short ficlets about specifically Paulkins.

Mortarboards by man_down_in_hatchet_town made me fucking cryyyy, so I definitely recommend that one if you want emotions about the NPMD kids.

A time wrap has happened, and younger (kid) verisons of the hashira have appeared. What would the current versions of hashira think of the past versions of themselves and their comrades?

Muichiro:

He was definitely taken aback for a minute, it was the first time he'd been shocked by anything in years

So the kid wakes up as if nothing happened and just stares at his older version, wondering where he was and how he got there

Muichiro tries so hard to explain but ultimately gives up and decides to show his kid version around the hashira base

His kid version thinks that the other kids are quite rowdy, although he does play with them for a while

Muichiro on the other hand just continues his day as normal until his kid version comes back to him and says it's time for bed

The next day Muichiro's kid version was gone, he looked around for him, only to find that he indeed had moved back to his past

Though, I think it provided him a lot of closure as to what he was like as a kid. It helped him remember a lot

Mitsuri:

She definitely panicked, which in turn made her younger self cry

"Oh no no no no no don't cryyyy I'm sorryyyyy I didn't mean to scare youuuuuu-"

Yeah she cried with the kid for a bit-

But then as the day went on, she asked her younger self why she was there with her in the future.

"I dunno, I just kinda woke up here... I'm a little hungry though..."

So yeah younger Mitsuri got a glimpse of how her older self really eats, which was a little terrifying to her lol

She was playing with the other little ones, wanting to get a feel for what her friends would be like in the future

Older Mitsuri loved the other little hashiras so much that she wanted none of them to leave, she thought it was adorable that they all got along so well not only with the other little hashiras but with their older selves

When she woke up the next day to find her missing, which was okay for her, only because she knew her younger self would have to go eventually.

She was happy she got the chance to see her younger self, and have that version see what she would become in the future

...

Obanai:

He was definitely confused, that's one thing

"What're you doing here? Shouldn't you be with the family?"

"I dunno, I just woke up here..."

So he decided to suck it up and take the kid with him for the day

His younger version wasn't very fond of women, given his history. So Obanai made sure he didn't have to interact with any girls.

However, like his older self, he did take a liking to the younger Mitsuri, which was the only person he'd play with that day

Mitsuri: "Wow, they seem to really like each other don't they?"

Obanai, obviously embarrassed: "Yeah... I suppose..."

His younger version loved watching him train, and he definitely got along with the other little hashiras also

Obanai, however, thought that the other little hashiras were just as obnoxious as their older counterparts. But then again they are just kids so he couldn't really blame them

When he woke up the next day, a sigh of relief yet sorrow escaped his lips

He never wanted to see his past self again, not after everything he went through

However, part of him wanted to protect his younger self. Wanting to shield him from all of the harm he had to endure in the past

Gyomei:

One hundred percent decided to immediately coddle the child

Yes he was in tears

"Am I still blind when I'm older...? Do I get made fun of still? Do I still get called a liar when I say I'm blind?"

Yeeeeaaaaaahhhhhhh definitely a lot of things Gyomei had to explain for him

So he decided to take him around for the day, the other kids were sympathetic to his blindness thank goodness

Which in turn made his younger self feel more included in a lot which was a heartwarming moment for all of the adults

Gyomei even gave his younger self a set of prayer beads, just in case he needed them

When he woke up the next morning, he realized the child wasn't with him anymore

He was happy he got to see his younger self though, now that he knows what he was like as a child again. Definitely provided a lot of closure

Sanemi:

He screamed, which in turn made his younger self scream

"WHO ARE YOU?!"

"I'M YOU! WHO ARE YOU THOUGH?!"

Yeah that was a whole argument back and forth until Sanemi finally calmed down enough to explain things

So when they both realized that it was themselves they were looking at, they decided to just spend the day together

The kid version of him apologized to Sanemi for ya know, offing his mom

And Sanemi had to explain that there was nothing else his younger self could've done if he wanted to save his brother

Tears were definitely shed on that topic for sure

However, he did get along nicely with the other kids

Seeing his younger self be so carefree gave Sanemi a lot of peace

When he woke up the next morning to no younger version of himself, he let go a breath of sadness. There was so much more that he wanted to explain

But then again, he couldn't stop his younger self if he wanted to go back to his past

...

Shinobu:

One hundred percent adores her younger self and her stubborn nature

Definitely showed her around the butterfly mansion and the hashira base

"Do I really have to play with them?"

"Yes, now go, the adults are talking"

Her younger self got along with the other kids very well. The adults thought she was quite adorable also

Thennnnn she mentioned to Shinobu about the deaths of everyone she loves, asking her older self how she copes with it now

And although Shinobu cried she tried her best to explain, telling her about all of her patients at the butterfly mansion throughout the years. And her younger self was beaming with admiration by the time the stories were over

When Shinobu woke up the next day, she felt a lot better about herself. All she wanted now was to provide herself a better life so her younger self could have something to look forward to

Giyuu:

Was definitely freaked out a bit at first

But upon realizing that it was just himself, just younger, he decided that rather than being scared he should cherish the time he has with him

Giyuu watched as his younger self played with the other kids, wanting to remind himself of how he was when he was younger

It definitely gave him a lot of peace now knowing how carefree he once was

The other hashiras, kids and adults, loved how lively Giyuu's younger self was.

"Hey, I just wanted to let you know that what happened to Sabito wasn't your fault..."

Oh yeah he sobbed over that for three hours

But it definitely gave him the closure he needed

His younger version definitely got a lot of hugs from Giyuu

When he woke up the next morning, he saw a note from his younger self

It said "Smile more, not everything is so gray. I hope you have a great day!"

It sent him over the moon knowing that his younger self isn't mad at him

...

Rengoku:

When I tell you this man jumped three feet in the air like a startled snow leopard-

His younger self could only laugh though, knowing that his older self didn't know who he was

Truth be told, Rengoku deadass thought it was Senjuro there for a minute-

"Wait, so you're not Senjuro?"

"Ahh nope! I'm you silly!"

So he decided to see if any of the other hashiras had mini-me's of themselves following them around, and they did

So he suggested a mini hashira play date and all of the kids were immediately on board

The other hashiras only found it natural that Rengoku's younger self was just as hearty and cheerful has his older form. And Rengoku definitely thought that the other kids were super sweet as well

"So, how's mother and father?"

"Uhhhhh wellllll"

Yeah it was fun explaining that one to him, but his younger self understood completely

When Rengoku woke up the next day, his younger self was gone, but he did find a sweet potato in his place. He chuckled slightly "Only I would do something like this..."

Tengen:

This man woke up and shrieked when he found a younger version of himself just standing in the corner of his room

"What're you doing here?"

"Uhhh, I dunno. I just got here..."

Okay so maybe that was too harsh of an introduction, however his younger self did get to meet Tengen's wives

"These are the wives I'm gonna have when I'm older?"

"Yup! Sure are, and they're flashy as ever!"

He got to meet the other little kids, and his younger self got along with them quite nicely although given he's a shinobi ninja he was a little stand-offish at first

Tengen thought the other kids were just absolutely adorable, flashy or not

"So, we're not a ninja when we grow up?"

"No, buddy, we're not..."

Yeah that wasn't a fun one to explain, but Tengen definitely tried his hardest and so did his wives

When he woke up the next day, he saw he was gone

But he was happy he got to see his younger self again though, and so were his wives. It brought all of them a lot of peace and closure, like a lot of the other hashiras got

okay, it took me way longer than it should have to figure out what happened in this scene, lol. razlo gets behind elendira and blocks her nail gun with the nail that's already in his body which jams her gun and pushes the nail further into his torso which takes them both by surprise.

"some dumbasses"?? do you mean wolfwood and vash?? LOL

come on, come on, come on!!! he's so cute, lol. he's like a dog who wants to play.

i love watching razlo fight!!! it's so fun seeing him fight a different way due to not having his punishers/third arm anymore. he's having so much fun too, it's infectious~

UNTIL ELENDIRA USES A PSYCHIC ATTACK ON HIM. JESUS CHRIST. THAT ONE ALMOST HAD ME.

chapter 6:

uwaaahhh! young livio flashback!! this is where his twinky stampede self came from i guess. i hope season 2 gives us a beefier version-

*returns 30 minutes later* HUH. INTERESTING. so stampede shows us livio working hard in EoM to catch up with wolfwood, but in the manga, it's all but outright stated that he's trying to catch up with razlo.

sorry i'm just fascinated by the tristamp/manga differences and seeing younger livio doing pushups reminded me (stamp!livio does pushups the same way!!)

we're not supposed to know that razlo exists yet in tristamp; i wonder if or how season 2 is going to reframe any of this. it's not like i dislike livio and wolfwood's relationship in stampede!! i think it's really sweet, introducing livio into ww's story earlier is a good move, and livio joining EoM to catch up with ww makes everything in the relevant episodes more emotional. but the relationship between livio and razlo is just as important!!

OH BOY, HE'S FERAL!!! truly, he is going out in a blaze of glory just like he wanted. i wouldn't expect anything else from him at this point.

ahhh... stampede!legato talks a lot about discarding emotion in favor of devotion. but emotion and devotion are intrinsically linked. legato is a pretty emotional person, he cries a lot and yells a lot... as long as he can express his devotion to knives, he feels like he's fulfilling his purpose, so he's happy... i'm glad he's having fun at least... :')

WAAAAHHH VASH IS REMEMBERING WOLFWOOD NOW... his face is not quite visible but... vash is remembering wolfwood's words because he's thinking he really is going to have to kill legato to end this fight... killing legato just like in the 98 anime...

i get caught up in the action, but every time they bring wolfwood up i realize how much i miss him...

anyway my point is: you mentioned a gender clinic referral in a tag and i'm a trans man also in the uk with a lot of experience in that area so i thought this might help in some way 👌🏼

if you've gone through the nhs, the wait times are astronomical (the shortest one is about 15 months, the longest around 62 months). the current legal limit on nhs referrals is a matter of weeks so it's literally criminal but that's another story lmao

if you go on the 'transgenderuk' subreddit there's a pinned post with current wait times and there's a wealth of information and people happy to help with anything from name changes to 3 stage surgery. also the nhs are notorious for just. not referring people to their gender clinics so if you did go through them it may make sense to give them a ring and check they did their job!

if you went through a private gender clinic and haven't heard back in months, 1000% follow up. the longest reply time i've heard is a month or two and the longest appointment wait i've seen is 7 months

lastly: there is another route. it's a lot more popular for transfems to do it, given feminising hormones are legal here but masculinising ones aren't, but transmascs (myself included) can 'diy' hormones, if hormones are the transition route you're after. even after i checked with like... tons and tons of people and different resources i was still terrified but it does work! also i get if a stranger on tumblr dot com doesn't reassure you, but i wanted to let you know about the option because it honestly saved my life and i think more transmascs need to know about this as a route especially those in this hell country lolol

for more info i would recommend the diy hrt wiki, just google that term and it should come up. i should mention though, with this though you're probably going to have to inject yourself which i know isn't for everyone (i used to need to have someone on facetime with me for like 45 minutes hyping me up lol). there is gel available on some sites but it's super expensive. also some sites will have tablets for sale but they don't work to masculinise unfortunately. OH and it's also recommended that you do blood tests semi regularly (once or twice a year) to test sex hormones and some other things like your liver, which you'll probably have to pay for yourself if you diy - in saying this though, the cost of 6 private blood tests, and 3 years worth of T and injection equipment would cost about the same as the initial appointments you need with the more reliable of the 2 private gender clinics. something something seize the means of transition

anyway. this is an absolutely insanely long message and i'm so so sorry if this is too much and too like... invasive but whats the point of having trans resources if you dont share them and whats the point of having a trans community if you dont trans commune 😎🏳️‍⚧️
