"Mwahaha!!" Remus cackled, waving a silver scepter above his head.
"I've stolen the castle for myself! Now my brother can never be king again! I'm in charge! Me me me!" He cheered, stomping his feet triumphantly.
Roman, who was stood at the bottom of the large cardboard castle, harrumphed and plopped himself down on the floor.
Virgil was sat near him, though closer to the corner than anyone else. He was poking at cobwebs and playing with sticks he had grabbed from outside. Logan and Patton were looking at pop-up books together, mainly to keep Logan entertained.
Janus was no where to be seen but that didn't matter to Roman. What did matter was getting his kingdom back from the hands of his "evil" brother.
"You fool!" Roman shouted up at Remus, placing his hands on his hips.
"You haven't even made the proper defenses! Where's your dragon? Where's your defense? It'll be easy to take back my crown, my scepter and my castle!" Roman yelled up at him, grinning to himself.
"Fat chance! I do have a dragon! And he's right there!" Remus shouted back, pointing to Thomas who had just walked into the room.
"I'm what." Thomas asked, scratching his head.
"Come along dragon! You have some defending to do!" Remus commanded, smiling widely at his dad. Thomas looked to Patton, who merely shrugged at him before returning to the book.
"Alright." Thomas said, moving over to the castle and looking up at Remus. The child grinned widely and grabbed a headband with makeshift horns glued onto them, setting them on Thomas' head.
"Stop my brother dragon! He can't get into my castle!" Remus ordered, moving away from the ledge and hiding in the cardboard castle. Thomas turned his attention to Roman and stepped in front of the castle, a smirk crossing his face.
Roman gulped and ran away, grabbing a cardboard tube the had been modified to look like a sword. He quickly ran back, wacking Thomas' legs with his sword.
"Move out of the way dragon! This isn't his castle it's mine! He stole my scepter and he stole my crown! This castle was rightfully mine!" Roman shouted as he attacked Thomas' legs. Thomas wasn't budging away from the door.
Roman pushed his full body weight against Thomas' legs, squeezing his eyes shut and shoving.
"Move! I need to get inside and find him!" Roman yelled. Thomas shook his head and grabbed Roman's waist, pulling him up into his arms.
"Heh!? Hey! Let me go dragon! This isn't fair!" Roman said, kicking and squirming. Roman whipped his head around, looking for something. His eyes landed on his little brother who was sat in the corner.
"Virgil! Virgil come help me!" Roman shouted, still kicking. Virgil perked his head up at the sound of his name and turned to look at his dad and his brother.
"Please?" Roman pleaded, squirming. He watched as his baby brother stood up, a stick gripped tight in his little hand. He walked over to Thomas and Roman and wacked the stick against Thomas' leg, squealing.
Thomas was quick to put Roman down and scoop Virgil up.
"Hey Virgil! Where did you get that!" Thomas said, a hint of worry in his words. Virgil simply pointed at the window.
Even though Thomas was frowning and kind of scolding Virgil now, Roman was grinning. Now that the dragon was distracted he could get inside. He ran past Thomas and pushed open the doors, drawing his sword.
"Remus where are you!?" Roman yelled. Even though it was a play thing, the cardboard castle was still pretty big. It'd probably take a little while to find his brother. But that didn't discourage him.
"I'll find you!" Roman yelled, charging through the castle.
---
"Haha!" Roman cheered as he dragged a none too happy Remus out of the castle behind him, his scepter in hand.
"I did it! I've gotten my scepter back! I can take control of my castle again!" Roman said with a grin. Remus crossed his arms, pouting.
"What the heck dragon! You weren't supposed to let him in!" Remus whined.
"He had reinforcements! And reinforcements had a stick!" Thomas explained, pointing at Virgil.
The little lad smiled at Remus, raising his stick into the air.
Remus glared at his little brother, looking away.
"I had reinforcements too. But he ran away! Heck I don't even know where he is right now..." Remus said with a pout, looking around.
And speak of the devil, Janus walked into the room, chomping on apple slices. Remus pointed at him.
"There you are! You left when I needed you most!" Remus cried, running over to Janus.
"I was hungry." Janus said with a shrug.
"Because of you I lost the castle!" Remus whined.
"Not my problem." Janus answered, walking over to Patton and Logan. Remus frowned. Thomas looked at Remus and kneeled down to his level, placing a hand on his shoulder.
"Hey buddy... I'm sure if you ask Roman really nicely you two can rule the castle together. It'd probably be more fun than having to constantly fight to take it away from each other." Thomas suggested. Remus looked at his brother, who was celebrating with Virgil upon getting his castle back. He smiled.
"You know what? You're right Dragon Daddy! I'll go talk to him right now!" Remus cheered, rushing over to Roman and Virgil.
Thomas smiled, glad to have been able to patch things up for the time being. Though it probably wouldn't stay that way for long. But he had to admit, he couldn't help but love the chaos.
