My One And Only - Chapter 18
Previous | Next | Master List
Hey! Welcome back to another chapter of MOaO! I won’t be able to update this as much as I want to (I’m not really updating it as fast as I won’t to right now but I’m trying) as exams are coming up as well as other various things. (I just realized that I haven’t said this earlier I’m so sorry, Ramadan Kareem to those who celebrate it!) Also, thank you so much for 128 followers!
"...I believe I found a way to subdue Hawkmoth"
————————————————————
Her eyes repeatedly scanned the page, making sure she was reading it correctly.
"It won't defeat Hawkmoth" Damian carefully pointed out, not wanting to diminish her excitement. "But it'll be able to stop him for some time, a month or two at most"
"Do you know what this means?" Her voice was barely above a whisper. "We'll be able to have some peace of mind! We'll be able to prepare ourselves! The whole of Paris! Who know, maybe we'll be able to get some clues on his identity as well as Mayura's as well!"
By the end, Marinette was spinning around the room, her slight giggles of happiness appeared here and there. Damian chuckled at her delight, seeing her happy was probably one of his most favourite sites in the world, that and seeing her flustered.
"I understand that you're excited but what do these cryptic messages mean, 'a tear of joy'? Did I translate that correctly"
She giggled at his confusion. "No that's one of the ingredients for the power up. Speaking of ingredients, I need to get some" Her bluebell eyes quickly scanned over the tablet again before she speed walked out of the hotel with Damian on her arm. "We're going to Master Fu's old place, he still has some ingredients we could use"
The two walked in silence, there was a topic that they needed to discuss, the end of the week was approaching fast.
"Maybe in the small time of peace, I can get Father and my brothers to help"
The bluenette chuckled slightly but not out of amusement. "I almost forgot, you'll be leaving in a few days" her gaze fell to the ground before she looked up at her boyfriend, solemnly. "It's gonna be a lot different, huh?"
He squeezed her hand gently with a comforting smile on his face. "It will be but I'm sure we'll handle it"
The couple grabbed the necessary ingredients and made their way back to the hotel. They dropped them off at the hotel room before making their way upper to the restaurant to get some food. Their dinner was quickly interrupted by a rockstar coming to congratulate his niece.
"Nettie! You're rock'n'roll! Your song is a huge hit!" Jagged exclaimed once he reached the table, he only seemed to register there was another person there once he sat down. His moderate cyan eyes widened in recognition when his gaze landed on the green-eyed boy. "You must be Damian, you look just like you're old man Brucie"
Damian shook his hand when the rockstar had offered it. "I am, Mr Stone"
"Uncle Jagged-"
"You break my niece's heart, I'll send Fang to eat you"
"Uncle Jagged!-"
"And I will gladly let you"
"I approve of your relationship, I just wanted to give the shovel talk since it sounded fun"
Marinette gaped at the two males on her table. "Dami, don't encourage him! I've already got Gami waiting to spar with you"
"Ah yes, my son's girlfriend is just as scary as Penny" Jagged visibly shuddered in good nature.
"Wait, Luka and Gami got together? Without telling me?!" The bluenette huffed, offended. "And to think I'm his honorary cousin"
Jagged chortled at her reaction while Damian had a faint smile playing on his lips. The rockstar decided to take his leave shortly after that, not wanting to draw some unwanted attention. He did manage to leave a pair of blushing teens as he told them to "Use protection!" before departing. Marinette was utterly embarrassed while Damian was flustered. Once dinner was finished, the couple went back to Damian's hotel room to discuss what they were going to do next.
Doing his best to help, Damian passed the ingredients to his girlfriend who then mixed up said ingredients in a pot.
"Can you get the Tear of Joy, Dami?"
The green-eyed boy looked through the ingredients until he found the slim bottle with a minuscule amount of clear liquid. He eyed the water as it squished in the bottle, it seemed so ordinary despite the great magic it could create. Damian could almost see the water taunting him with its mystic properties, he could just about feel it as he brought the bottle closer to the cauldron.
"This is it, correct?" The ravenette showed the blue-eyed girl the bottle in his hand
Her eyes lit up when presented with the vial. "Yes, that's it" As she removed the cork that was sealing the bottle shut, Damian asked a question that was lingering in the back of his mind.
"What exactly is the tear of joy?"
Marinette turned to smile at him. "It's a tear of joy"
"So a tear caused by laughter?"
"Precisely" She looked up at the ceiling wistfully. "I remember, when Syren attacked, Master Fu was trying to decode what a 'tear of joy' was. It took some time but we managed to figure it out in the end" She sighed. "It's great that we managed to find out about 'power-ups' but if we found out about them sooner, maybe more people would've been saved."
He put his hands comfortably on her shoulders. "What did Syren do exactly?"
She stopped dead in her tracks. That wasn't the reaction that Damian was expecting, whatever had happened with this Akuma must have been bad to induce this response.
The bluenette sighed and looked at the green-eyed boy straight into his emerald eyes. "Syren was one of the most dangerous Akumas we've ever had to deal with. She flooded all of Paris with her tears, only a few hundred people managed to reach the rooftops in time"
A breath quickly sucked in through his lips, the scene itself sounded horrible, imagining it even more so, having to actually see it must have been... traumatic.
"But Ondine is doing much better with Kim. And it's all in the past, we've learnt how to deal with the memories!" Her smile hurt to look at. His girlfriend had to deal with so much and she couldn't even express her negativity without fear of becoming an akuma. Damian placed a kiss on her head as she finally got the lid off of the bottle.
Both teens watched in anticipation as the droplet rolled down to the bottle's lip, teetering over the edge. It fell in. The concoction then shimmered a silvery blue. Grabbing a bottle, Marinette poured some of the liquid inside it, looked at the bottle and hummed in satisfaction. She quickly put all the equipment used back in a box and cleaned up any mess made. Once she was finished, she turned to the boy standing over her.
"I'll bring these back to Master Fu's old apartment then I'll drop this bottle off at my house, you can tell Tikki and Plagg that they can come out now"
The contents of the box shifted to one side, Damian helped steady both the bluenette and the box before going to the kwamis. Once the kwamis where comfortably with their owners, Tikki in Marinette's purse and Plagg in Damian's hoodie pocket, they made their way to the apartment. It still technically belonged to Master Fu, he rest hadn't rented it out so they were free to roam around. After putting the equipment away, the couple strolled to Marinette's house hand in hand. The bluenette went up to her balcony, with Damian close behind, and hid the bottle under her pink-striped deck chair, away from the sunlight.
"It needs to 'mature' in the moonlight, I guess. So when the moon is out, I'll take the bottle out" Marinette gestured for Damian to follow her as she went back down to the bakery portion of her house. "I'll give you some Camembert with the power ups infused. But I'll have to make it first!"
She hummed as she went upside to retrieve other substances that Master Fu had taught her to create. In the moment she was gone, Plagg appeared.
"I hate transforming!" The black kwami whined, settling in the boy's hair.
"What's so bad about it?" Damian raised an eyebrow at Plagg's outburst.
"It ruins the beautiful taste of Camembert, and it tastes weird"
"Quit your whining Plagg" Tikki's squeaky, but still relatively scary, voice rang out as both she and her owner returned.
"But Sugarcube-"
"No 'but's Stinky Sock!"
Damian watched with quiet amusement while Marinette giggled, handing him a wheel of Camembert.
"The cheese is cut up in different slices, each representing a different power up. I'll explain which is which on the way back to the hotel"
Damian put the wheel in his pocket before taking the bluenette's hand. "I look forward to it"
~~~
Each power up was simple enough, they all had a different colour corresponding with it's ability, making it easier to memorize. The couple walked by a dark alley as Damian check the time. Passing his phone to the bluenette next to him, Marinette took one glance at the time before dragging the two of them into said dark alley. It was time for patrol. Once both were done transforming, Noir and Ladybug made their to the assigned rooftop. When landing, Noir took his staff and looked through the help guide to get a better idea of what weapon he was working with. Spinning the staff with his hands, he separated the staff into two separate batons. He hummed in contentment.
"Grayson never gave me his escrima sticks for missions. I suppose this is good training if I ever want to use them"
The two rods snapped back together with a satisfying snap. Continuing to look through the articles on his now full staff, Noir didn't even notice when Ladybug moved to stand behind him. In one swift motion, the spotted heroine pulled down the black hood that was shielding the black cat-themed hero's face.
"La-"
Her covered fingers stroked his black cat ears, she giggled as his cheeks flushed. The feeling itself was unusual to the green-eyed hero, he had never felt anything remotely similar before but he wouldn't say he didn't enjoy it. It was just... unexpected. The spotted heroine, however, quite liked making the stoic Noir flustered. His ears felt so much like a real cat's that Ladybug was nearly taken aback, she got used to it after her shock, though. Noir found himself leaning into her touch but looking at everything but her in embarrassment.
Had his ears not been occupied he probably would've heard the two other heroes arriving, he only knew they were here as he saw them in his peripheral vision, rolling his eyes as he noticed them snickering.
'Angel, Rena and Chien are here'
Ladybug's head snapped in the direction of the two other heroes, one of her hands left his head as she she greeted the fox and the dog.
"Hello Rena Rouge, Chien" Ladybug greeted them casually, something Noir knew he couldn't do at that moment.
"Hello to you too LB! Hey Noir, did the bug find a way to tame you?
He mumbled a reply.
Ladybug giggled before turning to properly address the other heroes. "I've been thinking of adding three more members. I know it's a lot since you, Rena, have only just been announced as a permanent user and you, Chien, have basically just joined. But Noir and I found something that will require their help. I have a hunch that Hawkmoth might try something like Guerrier but with the same level as Syren"
The fox-themed hero nodded. "You need all the help you can get. So who do you have in mind?"
"A Snake, a Bee and a Dragon" The spotted heroine answered with no hesitation. "We'll need a snake as it is... intuitive"
Upon registering the description, Chien chuckled. "Isn't that the point?"
"Perhaps" Ladybug hummed with a smile on her face. "A dragon can control elements, a strong power would be useful. The bee miraculous's power is immobilization-"
"Paralysis can be very beneficial when trying to stop an akuma" Noir provided his input.
"Yes. So what do you think?" The spotted heroine looked between the three heroes standing on the rooftop with her. Noir hummed approval while Chien gave her a thumbs up.
"You always have the best ideas, Bug!" Rena voiced out her agreement, Ladybug let out a sigh of relief she didn't know she was holding.
"Then I'll go get them now shall I? We gotta teach them as fast as we can" The blue-eyed heroine took the yo-yo from her hip, spinning it with a flick of her wrist. "I'll send them here and then you show them the ropes"
"Aye aye Captain!" Chien saluted and Rena followed suit, only after a quick laugh. Noir rolled his eyes in good nature while pulling his hood back up, flicking his cat ears before doing so.
Hurling her yo-yo at a nearby building, Ladybug hissed through the air, her yo-yo latching onto another building as she neared the previous. Soon enough, she landed gracefully in a quiet area where two familiar figures were strolling hand in hand.
"Ladybug?" A boy with dyed hair questioned, a bluenette with short hair and almond eyes next to him.
She nodded before pulling out two miraculous from her yo-yo with, presumably, unlimited storage. "Luka Couffaine, Kagami Tsurugi, these are the miraculous of the Snake and the miraculous of the Dragon. They grant you the powers of Intuition and Perfection. You will use these miraculouses for the greater good, can I trust you?"
Luka and Kagami shared a knowing look then turned to the heroine in front of them.
"You can count on use Ladybug"
"We're honored to be chosen to fight by your side, my Ladybug"
She gave them the miraculous and watched as they both transformed into Viperion and Ryuko. "The others are waiting at this location." She showed them a map on her yo-yo. "I'll meet you there once I finish with a task a have to do." She hissed through the air once more, thanks to her yo-yo, and landed on a rooftop that was very familiar now. There stood a blonde, leaning on the banister.
"Ladybug?" Chloe's confused voice rang out.
"Hello Chloe Bourgeois" Ladybug took something from her yo-yo. "This is the Bee miraculous, it grants the power to immobilise your opponents. Should you choose to help us-"
"I can't"
"Pardon?"
"I said I can't" The blonde looked solemnly at the heroine. "I've been an utterly horrible person, I don't deserve to be a hero. Especially after... Queen Bee"
"People can change Chloe" Ladybug put a hand on the blonde's shoulder. "As long as they are given the chance to. Do you want to take this chancep?"
Chloe stared at the miraculous before looking at the heroine with a determined expression.
"I won't let you down, Ladybug"
~~~
Ladybug soon returned with a bee-themed heroine, named Honey Bee, by her side. After a brief reintroduction, the patrol began. Rena Rouge took the west side with Honey Bee and Viperion, Chien and Ladybug took the East while Ryuko and Noir took the North, they had already checked the South. Most of the patrol was done in silence, other than the odd 'nothing wrong here'. Ryuko had been the one to start a conversation
"You're the new wielder of black cat miraculous, correct?" The dragon user questioned Noir. He recognised it as the beginning of an interrogation.
"It certainly seems that way" Ryuko hummed.
"You fancy Ladybug, don't you" The question obviously took him aback. "Do you consider yourself... worthy?
The cat-themed hero didn't hesitate. "No"
He saw her raise her eyebrows.
"Ladybug is too virtuous for this world, there's not a soul in this entire universe worthy of her affection"
The dragon hummed in satisfaction. "You remind me of the boyfriend of one of my friends. Though I have yet to be convinced that he should date said friend, you have proved yourself worthy of Ladybug. I approve of your relationship even though it isn't my place to make such a decision"
"I am pleased" Despite the fact that he is a leader in this team, he's content with the fact he has the great dragon user's approval as she is the most intimidating of the team, other than Ladybug herself.
"Also don't mess this up, Ladybug is a Queen " Ryuko casually pointed out.
"Glad I am not the only one that thinks so"
"How can you not? Have you seen her?!"
"She's a goddess"
"You have my approval again"
~~~
Noir and Ryuko were first to arrive as they had finished their patrol early, the rest of the team weren't too far behind, however.
"Alright" Ladybug began once everyone returned. "Honey Bee, Viperion, Ryuko, it'll be best if you memorize all of Paris. That way, when there's trouble, you'll know your way around."
"I found that an aerial view is the fastest way to know the city like the back of your hand!" Rena Rouge pointed out.
"That's also the way I did it!" Chien chimed in,
"Yep! If you don't mind, there's something I'd like to discuss with both Rena Rouge and Chien. Noir, will you join us?" The spotted heroine turned to the heroes named.
"I ought to" He replied flatly.
"Alright then, follow me!" Ladybug hissed through the air followed by Noir with his staff and Rena and Chien with their enhanced abilities. Soon they landed in an alley. "I know you already know this, Rena, but I think it's fair if Chien knows too"
"Fair that I know what?" His gaze moved between the two heroines before landing on the black cat hero, silently begging for answers, to which Noir returned with an unconvincing shrug.
"That you know this. Tikki, spots off!" A blinding red light filled the narrow corner they were in, Rena shut one of her eyes while Chien shut both, Noir was shielded from the light thanks to his hoodie. Then, a certain Marinette Dupain-Cheng stood where the spotted heroine once was.
"Wh- Bu- How-" Chien spluttered as his brain combusted with all the information that was flowing through it at once. Marinette giggled at his confusion, Rena full on laughed, clutching her stomach while Noir merely smirked. "But, but I saw you standing next to Ladybug! Wait no, yourself? My brain is melting! Wait, you two knew?!" The dog-themed hero screeched.
"She's my best friend" Rena shrugged with an innocent expression, her transformation dropped. Chien stared in shock.
"She's my girlfriend" Noir mimicked Rena Rounge's shrug while letting his transformation fall too, leaving Chien the only one transformed.
"Okay THAT makes sense, you're both deathly attr- Wait, did you say best fRIEND?!" Chien shrieked and detransformed.
"ADRIEN?!" Alya exclaimed, Marinette and Damian watched in amusement.
"As entertaining as this is-" The green-eyed boy cut in before the pair would attract unwanted attention. "-Marinette needs to explain the reason why she revealed her identity to you"
The bluenette nodded. "You see early today, at school, I had this 'miraculous burn' I guess you could say from Guerrier's attack. Thanks to Alya I'm feeling better but that resulted in getting my identity revealed. So to avoid anymore incidents like that, I also told you Adrien. I can't tell the rest of the team yet as I don't want them to go all protective over me, you'll three will have enough overprotectiveness"
"Not wrong there, girl" Alya said without shame.
"I know I have to tell them my true identity at some point but right now it's better just to have you three know."
"We understand" Alya and Adrien said in unison.
"Great, now let's go back to the others so we can tell them patrol is over"
~~~
It was sunset, the orange cotton clouds contrasted beautifully with the darkening blue sky. A cool wind blew through the air, cold enough to make one shiver but not enough to catch a cold. Walking hand in hand, a couple made their way to Le Grand Paris. The bluenette looked up to the noirette next to her, leaning onto his arm covered by the Robin-themed hoodie and smiling while doing so, she closed her eyes to savor the moment.
"Angel?" Damian brushed the stray hairs on her face as she pulled away to look at him properly.
"You know, I'm really going to miss this" Marinette raised their conjoined hands as they approached the hotel doors.
He hummed and in response, put his arm around her waist to pull her closer while going through the elevator doors. "I am too"
They soon reached the hotel room, the kwamis roaming around for food once they got inside. Food in hand, Tikki and Plagg sat of the coffee table, leaning on one another as Damian turned on the screen to watch a movie. Once he was comfortably seated, Marinette joined him, snuggling into his side. He brushed his fingers through her silky midnight hair. He was going to miss this, deeply. What would life be like going back, without the beautiful bluenette physically next to him?
'I do not want to find out'
———
Provisional Cessation, It was created for the purpose of temporarily stopping a miraculous from being used if any harm were to come to the user. It would also deem it unusable for a certain period of time if the miraculous were ever come into the wrong hands. The reason Master Fu didn't tell Marinette this information was because the last time a user tried this power up, they were put into a magical induced coma, it was too risky.

Chat for a Day:  Chapter 4
I’m Never Going to Leave You
After closing the door behind her, Marinette suddenly felt lightheaded.  The adrenaline rush that had accompanied her exchange with Adrien was starting to wear off.  That coupled with the exhaustion from her sleepless night were starting to take a physical toll on her body.
The nurse picked up on her distress, and she was immediately offered a place to lay down.  Grateful for the opportunity, Marinette climbed onto the bed in the nurse’s office and closed her eyes.
Once the nurse drew a curtain around the bed and returned to her desk on the far side of the office, Tikki emerged from her chosen’s purse.
“Are you okay, Marinette?” Tikki asked in a barely audible whisper.
“I’m feeling a little sleepy right now.  My head kind of hurts, too,” Marinette mumbled without opening her eyes.
“You did stay up pretty late last night.”
“Yeah, but it was worth it.  I was confident today, Tikki.”
“Yes, you were.  I’m very proud of you, but it probably helped that Adrien turned out to be Chat Noir though.”
“True.”
“Did I really call Adrien Agreste ‘hot stuff’ and bop him on the nose?”
“Yes, you did.  You also told him that you loved him.”
“Hmmmm...yeah I did.  I’m definitely going to freak out about that later.”
“I wouldn’t expect anything less, Marinette.”
“I think I’m going to rest my eyes for a little…” Marinette cut herself off as she fell fast asleep.
***
Plagg was a Kwami of simple pleasures.  He didn’t require much.  All he ever really wanted was some (well...lots of) camembert, a comfortable place to sleep, and something to keep him occupied when he was awake.  Usually, finding something to do while Adrien was in school was difficult, and he often found himself getting bored inside of his boy’s bag. However, today’s little show had been very interesting to watch.  It was definitely quality entertainment.
After watching Tikki’s bug deliver what had to have been an Oscar-worthy performance, observing his own chosen’s internal meltdown was simply icing on the proverbial cake.  Before it started, he knew this day was going to be great, but he wasn’t expecting it to be this amazing.  He knew he would be laughing about this for years to come.
While he would never openly admit it, Plagg really did love and care for Adrien.  He didn’t want to see his boy feeling hurt; however, watching him have an existential crisis?  He was totally on board for that.  Not only was it HILARIOUS, but it fulfilled his secret desire to see his chosen happy.  Adrien was finally going to get the girl.  It was the sappy “happily ever after” moment the kid had always dreamed of.
Despite the incredible stunt that bakery girl had pulled, Plagg knew that Tikki’s chosen had a tendency to be a little hesitant around Adrien.  He knew his boy wasn’t perfect (he was probably the most oblivious human being on the planet), but he was afraid that the little bug might get spooked and start avoiding Adrien.  Plagg had seen first hand just how much of a hopeless romantic his holder was, and having Marinette run away would crush him.
While Plagg typically didn’t get involved in his wielders’ love lives, he refused to see Adrien disappointed...again.  The boy had enough people in his life who consistently let him down, and he didn’t know Marinette well enough to trust that she wouldn’t become one of those people.  He didn’t blame her for turning down Chat’s advances over the past year, but he didn’t want that to bleed into the duo’s civilian relationship.
In all his years as a Kwami to a miraculous holder, Plagg had never seen two people more perfectly matched.  Without each other, this Ladybug and Chat Noir would never grow into the heroes that they needed to be to defeat Hawkmoth.  This relationship needed to be protected at all costs.  Therefore, as soon as he was able, Plagg zipped out of Adrien’s bag, phased through the wall, and flew down to the nurse’s office.
Plagg hid in an air vent and surveyed the scene below him.  The nurse sat quietly at her desk doing paperwork.  She appeared to be blissfully unaware of the world around her.  He spotted the curtained off section of the room and prayed that Tikki was hiding there with her chosen.
Plagg zoomed into the secluded space and whispered loudly, “Sugarcube?  Are you here?”
Tikki zipped out of Marinette’s bag and shushed her counterpart.  “Quiet, you’ll wake her up.”
He looked at the unconscious girl with a confused expression.  “What happened to her?”
“She didn’t sleep much last night after accepting the challenge from your chosen.  Then, once she found out that Adrien was Chat Noir...actually, I’m not sure what happened.  I think it was the push she needed to get over her anxiety around Adrien.  However, she has a headache now, and she’s been sleeping since she got here.”
“So, she isn’t scared of him anymore?”
“I don’t think she was ever scared of him.  I think she was scared of being rejected by him, but as soon as she found out that Adrien was in love with her...well, that fear got smaller.  I don’t think it took away her all nervousness though.  It took a lot out of her to confess her feelings.”
“I can imagine.  Adrien did it several times.”
“Yeah, he did. That will probably come up during her private freak out fest later.  At least they found each other.  Wait...your boy figured it out right?”
“Oh, yeah.  He’s already having his own freak out fest.  He’s been catatonic for the past two hours in class.  However, if I know him at all, once he snaps out of it, he will be in full-blown romance mode.  Your girl wasn’t lying when she said that she loves Adrien, right?  Because I don’t think he’ll be able to handle it if she didn’t actually love him.”
“She loves him alright.  You know, she never actually hated Chat Noir.  It’s just that she loved Adrien so much.  Now that she knows they’re the same person, she loves him even more.”
Plagg flew close to Tikki and took her paws in her own.  “We have to make sure this relationship happens.  We can’t let the momentum stop.  These two need each other.”
Tikki giggled.  “Awww, Plagg.  You’re such a big softie.”
“You know I care about all my kittens.  I mess with them because it makes them better heroes in the end.”
“That and you think it’s funny.”
“Yeah, I do,” Plagg said wistfully, “I really do...but that’s not the point!  You and I both know that they will become stronger once they’ve worked on their bond as partners.  They are two sides of the same coin.  Yin and yang.  They complete each other.”
“I know, I know,” Tikki responded, “I was even going to suggest to Marinette that she should reveal her identity soon.  Hawkmoth is getting stronger.  Now, that he has a partner, these two will need each other more than ever.”
“Exactly!  However, these two are in love, and that can be a tricky thing.  We need to ensure that this works out.  Adrien is the most lovesick kitten I’ve ever had, but I’m worried about your chosen.  I know you said she loves him, but can we be sure that she won’t turn him down again or let her nervousness get in the way?”
“I don’t think we have to worry about that.  She seemed pretty determined to get herself a boyfriend earlier today.  Marinette also told me that all she wants is for him to be happy.  She’s still anxious, but I’ve seen her push away fear many times.  Remember how she stood up to Chloe?”
“Okay, that’s good...but we should still help them right?”
“Oh, yeah.  Definitely.”
“Jeez, our kids are a mess this time.”
Tikki smiled and looked at her chosen.  “Yeah, but they’re our messes.”
Plagg sighed, “Alright, so your girl is passed out, and once my boy starts breathing again, he will be looking for an opportunity to get back to her.  We need to make sure that he has that chance.”
“Yes, and we also need to make sure that Alya stays away.  They need alone time.”
“Agreed...BUT your chosen had a full-blown personality change in front of the nosy girl  She was freaking out quite a bit this morning.  She’s probably calmer now, but still.”
“Hmmmm,” Tikki said pursing her lips, “That’s going to be a problem.  Alya is really protective.  If she thinks something is wrong, she’s going to check it out...unless Marinette herself tells her to stay away.  But she can’t exactly do that right now.”
Plagg thought for a moment. “Wait!  I know.  Do you know how to text using your chosen’s phone?”
“Yes, but using her phone without permission is an invasion of privacy!”
“Puh-lease.  You and I both know for a fact that your bug has no boundaries when it comes to cell phones.  May I remind you of that little stunt she pulled with Adrien’s phone?”
Tikki sighed. “No, you’re right.  And that wasn’t the only time she took someone’s phone.  She’ll forgive us.”
“Wait, are you telling me that she’s stolen more than one phone?”  Plagg did his best to hold back his laughter.  (He did not want the nurse to hear him.) “That’s hilarious!  She is a girl after my own heart. Can you imagine if she got the ring instead of the earrings?  She and I would have leveled Paris before Hawkmoth even started sending out Akumas!”
Tikki had already gotten Marinette’s phone out of her purse. “Hush, Plagg! I already agreed with you.  Let’s just get this done.  Who are we texting, and what do we want the messages to say?”
Plagg grinned.
***
Marinette still hadn’t come back from the nurse’s office.  Adrien could feel the emptiness of the seat behind him.  It was not helping him calm down.
Physically, he was present in Miss Bustier’s classroom that day, but mentally he was gone.  Luckily, there was no lecture.
For the rest of the morning, his brain was flooded with panicked thoughts.  “Ladybug knows who I am.  She knows I’m Chat Noir, and I know that she’s Marinette...and Marinette is Ladybug...and I like Marinette and I like Ladybug.  So, I like both?  No, I only like one girl.  THANK GOD.  But...I left her in the nurse’s office all by herself.  She isn’t back yet...OHMYGOD.  What if something is ACTUALLY wrong?  I left her there, and now she’s dying...no, that’s stupid, Agreste.  She’s fine...but what if she’s not?  That means that I abandoned her in her time of need.  Now she’ll never love me, but wait...no, she already told me that she loved me…”
“She already told me that she loved me,” he whispered to himself.
“And he’s back!  Bro, we thought we lost you!”  Nino exclaimed.
“What did you say, sunshine?”  Alya asked.
Adrien’s eyes locked with Alya’s.  “Marinette told me that she loved me.”
“Yes, she did,” Alya responded while nodding her head, “and that’s just hitting you now?”
“Does...does Marinette like me?”
“I thought that was already established.”
A lovesick smile spread across Adrien’s face. “She likes me.”
“Ladybug likes me,” he thought.
“No, she loves you.  The girl is positively head over heels about you.”
“OHMYGOD! LADYBUG LOVES ME!” his mind screamed.
His brain started to shut down again.  Yes, he had heard Marinette say it earlier, but it was finally hitting him that the girl of his dreams was actually in love with him.  He could feel hot tears prickling the corners of his eyes.  He sniffled, and the tears threatened to fall.  He was at a loss for words.
“Bro,” Nino said putting a hand on his shoulder, “Are you okay?”
Adrien choked back a sob, “I...I’m so happy.  I love her so much.  This is the greatest thing that’s ever happened to me!  I need a minute...I’ll be fine!”
He took a moment to compose himself.  Words couldn’t begin to describe how blissfully happy he was.  He didn’t know it was possible to fall even more in love with a person, but he was proven wrong.
The world instantly looked brighter.  Ladybug had always been a light in his life.  However, now that he knew that Marinette was also his lady, it was like having his own personal star, and she was at the center of his universe.  He was ready to be with her, but first, he needed to figure out a way to see her again...soon.
“Adrien,” Alya began, “This is a pretty long moment.  Are you okay?  We can’t have two friends wind up going to the nurse.”
His response came quickly.  “I’m fine, but I need to get into that nurse’s office after class.”
“Why?” Alya questioned.
He smirked, “I’m going to ask out Marinette.”
“That’s awesome, dude!” Nino laughed.
Adrien and Nino miraculously finished their assignment before the end of class.  Finally, it was lunchtime, and Adrien desperately needed to talk to Marinette.
As both boys stood up to hand in their work, Adrien’s phone buzzed.  He opened his device and looked at the name on his screen.  His heart started beating faster.
Marinette- Hey, you! :)
Adrien typed four different responses before hitting send.
Adrien- Hi!  Are you feeling any better?
He anxiously waited for a response.
Marinette- I’m fine. My head was hurting, so the nurse let me lay down.
Adrien- I’m just happy you’re ok
“What’s up, buttercup?”  Alya asked, “Is it Marinette?”
“Yeah, she texted me.  She told me that she’s alright and that she fell asleep in the nurse’s office,” he explained while looking at the message on her phone.
Alya looked relieved. “So that’s why she didn’t come back?”
“I guess so,” he shrugged.
Adrien’s phone buzzed again.
Marinette- Could you do me a favor?
He smiled.
Adrien- Anything for you, Princess.  <3
Marinette- Could you bring my backpack down to the nurse’s office?  I left it by my seat.
Adrien spotted her belongings and slung her bag over his shoulder.  As he did so, another message was delivered to his phone.
Marinette- I only want you to come down with my stuff. ;)
He almost dropped the phone.  Adrien could feel the heat of a blush creeping up his neck and face.  Alya and Nino noticed Adrien’s reaction and exchanged worried glances.
“Adrien, dude, what did she say to you?”  Nino asked putting a hand on his shoulder.
Alya looked at the phone screen and laughed.  “Alone, huh?  I can respect that.  My girl is on fire today.  I still think she hit her head or something, but I guess I can trust you to check up on her for me.  Looks like you got your chance to ask her out, loverboy.
Adrien still didn’t respond.  He stood shellshocked.  Ladybug wanted to see him, and she probably wanted to talk to him.  He knew this was his chance to tell her how he felt, so he stood up straight and reminded himself that he was Chat Noir.  He could do this.  She was his partner...his beautiful, amazing partner.
“Is this going to be a regular occurrence from now on?  Like, are you going to melt on the spot every time she says something to you?  You guys are going to be one of those couples, aren’t you?”  Nino remarked rolling his eyes.
Alya elbowed him.  “Shhhhh!  It’s adorable.  Do you know how long I’ve waited for this moment?  Do not mess up my ship.”
Instead of responding to Nino’s questions, Adrien shrugged and said, “If you guys don’t mind, I’m just going to go see Marinette now.”
“Alright, sunshine.  We’ll see you after lunch.  Tell Marinette she needs to call me later.”  Alya finished her command with a wink.  She then proceeded to take Nino’s hand and drag him out of the classroom.
Moments later, Adrien left the room and started walking towards the nurse’s office.  On the way there, he had a strange mix of nervousness and excitement brewing inside of him.  It felt like an internal thunderstorm.  However, both of those feelings were quickly overpowered by the sheer adoration he felt as he thought about Marinette.  He quickened his pace.  He couldn’t wait to see her again.
Once he arrived, he slowly opened the door, and the nurse greeted him with a smile.  “Hello, young man!  What brings you here today?  Are you feeling well?”
“Oh, yes, ma’am.  I feel fine.  I’m actually here to bring Marinette her things,” Adrien explained politely.
The nurse nodded, “Wonderful.  What a gentleman!  The poor thing must have been feeling awful.  She fell asleep two hours ago, and she hasn’t woken up since.”
“Wait, she’s not awake?”
“No, she’s out like a light.  I was about to go wake her up.  I’ve already called her parents and told them to keep her home for the rest of the day.  They’re expecting her soon.  She’s right over there.”  The nurse pointed to the curtain and walked back to her desk.
Adrien pulled back the curtain and revealed a still very much asleep Marinette.  He looked at his phone to double check that the messages he received were actually from her.
“Perhaps she woke up for a few minutes and then fell back asleep?” Adrien thought.
Plagg then zoomed into view causing Adrien to glare at the tiny being.  Tikki joined him shortly after.  Upon seeing the two of them together, everything became much clearer.
“Or it was the Kwamis.”
Adrien looked at the magical duo.  “Now, before I begin, I’m guessing you’re Tikki?  Ladybug has told me quite a bit about you.”
The red Kwami giggled.  “Yes, I’m Tikki.  It’s nice to meet you, Adrien!”
Adrien smiled, but his expression quickly shifted to concern when he looked at Marinette on the bed.  “Okay, I just need to ask...is she okay?”
Tikki flew over to Adrien and hugged his cheek.  “You’re so sweet!  No wonder she fell in love with you.  She’s fine.  Marinette had a headache and she’s resting now.  You can wake her up.  I know she’ll be thrilled to see you.”
Adrien was flooded with relief.  “Thanks, Tikki.  However, before we let her join our conversation, I need to ask...who texted me?”
Tikki looked guilty and Plagg grinned.  “That’d be me, kid.  Tikki unlocked the phone, but those messages were all me.”
Adrien shot his Kwami an annoyed look.  “Okay, two things.  One...why are you not in my bag?  What if there was an emergency?”
“Kid, trust me.  Coming down here was an emergency.  You needed help that only we could provide.”
“Okay, we will have words about that later...and two...does this mean that I’ve been flirting with you for the past 15 minutes?  You don’t think the winking face was a little much?”
“It had to be believable.  Look, you should be grateful.  I got you some alone time to sort things out with your girlfriend.”
Plagg had called Marinette his girlfriend a few times in the past, so out of habit, Adrien responded by saying, “She’s not my girlfriend.”
Plagg’s grin widened, “Yet.”
Adrien’s expression softened into a lovesick smile.  “Yet,” he repeated in his mind, “She’s not my girlfriend...yet.”
“And there’s the face.  Don’t get all mushy yet,” Plagg said rolling his eyes, “You still need to get your ‘Princess’ home.”
Adrien’s eyes fell on Marinette.  Her arms were cradling her head and tendrils of hair had fallen into her face.  She breathed softly and steadily.  Seeing her under the fluorescent glow of the lights made his heart swell with affection.  At that moment, he knew that he would love her no matter the circumstances.  She was his everything, and he was never going to take her for granted.  If she agreed to be with him, he would do his best to always make her feel loved.
“She still needs to say yes to being with me,” Adrien whispered.
“Well, you’re never going to find out by standing there!” Plagg exclaimed, “Go wake her up.  Talk to her.  Be everything she needs you to be.”
Adrien knelt next to the bed and gently moved the hair out of Marinette’s face.  He rubbed her arm until her eyes fluttered open and locked with his.  She awoke with a smile.
“Good morning, Sleeping Beauty.  Did you have a good nap?” Adrien cooed in her ear.
Marinette blinked the sleep away from her eyes.  “My Prince Charming came back.”
“My lady, I will always come back for you.”
“So you figured it out?”
“You didn’t exactly make it hard,” Adrien laughed, “That was some show you put on.”
Marinette sat up and stretched, “Yeah, I was dying on the inside the entire time, but it’s okay.  Talking to you is much easier now.”
Adrien gave her a sympathetic look and reached for her hand.  “If it’s not too much to ask, what made it hard before?”
Marinette swallowed and maintained eye contact.  “I think...I was afraid that if I ever told you how I felt, you would disappear from my life.  I don’t know if I could have handled that.”
He squeezed her hand reassuringly, leaned over, and lovingly kissed her on the forehead.  This caused Marinette to giggle and blush.  He placed one of his hands on her cheek and she leaned into his touch.
“Marinette, I would have never cut you out of my life.  I’ve always admired you both in and out of the mask.  And to top it all off, you told me that you love me.  I would be crazy to throw something like that away.  I’m never going to leave you.  I’m here to stay.  I love you so much.”
“You do?”  Marinette had tears in her eyes.
“Yes, I do,” he stood up and pulled her to her feet, “Marinette Dupain-Cheng, I am deeply and madly in love with you, and it would make me the happiest cat on the planet if you would do me the honor of being my girlfriend.”
Marinette laughed, “Always so gallant, Chaton.  Yes, I would love to be your girlfriend.”
Adrien beamed and pulled her into a tight hug.  She pressed her cheek into his chest, and he nuzzled the top of her head.
He eventually pulled away and took her hands in his own.  “Now, we are still at school, I’m sure that lovely nurse would like us to leave, and your parents are expecting you to be back any minute now.  Would it be okay if I walked you home, Princess?”
Marinette scrunched her nose and giggled again.  “Lead the way, kitty.”

"You should take a break, Buginette, I'll handle the rest," Adrien suggested, as he pried a heavy box out of Marinette's reluctant hands.
"I'm fine, Adrien, I've had to lift way heavier things than this when I worked in the bakery, you know." Marinette countered, not wanting to make him do all the work.
"That's true, but you've been on your feet running around all day. All I had to do was stand, sit, and pose. You need a break, I don't." Adrien pointed out. "Besides, it's nearly your birthday. Birthday girls deserve extra breaks."
Marinette couldn't lie, she really did need a break. "Fine, but after a half-hour power nap—or maybe an hour—I'm going to keep helping you unpack. We're a team, and don't you forget it." Raising on her tiptoes, Marinette gave Adrien a sweet peck before retreating to the bedroom to lie on their newly purchased and delivered king size bed. It was unnecessarily huge but Adrien had been adamant about purchasing it. And to be fair, Marinette did like to starfish in her sleep.
Adrien smiled and checked out her cute butt as she walked away. Those pants made her ass look divine.
Shaking away those thoughts, Adrien set the hefty box down and continued to bring the other large boxes into the living room.
After he had finished handling the heaviest boxes, Adrien decided to give his muscles a break by unpacking the ones that he had already brought in.
After emptying a few of them, he came across one that had very interesting contents.
At first, he wasn't exactly sure what he was looking at. Each item or group of items had a label on them, such as AA22, AA35, AA67.
As he puzzled over it and looked through it some more, he noticed the labels had every number from 21 to 80.
He was still a bit confused and decided to look at the items themselves, only to realize every single object had been wrapped. Some were wrapped in wrapping paper, some were in gift boxes, some were in gift bags.
So they must have been gifts. For almost 60 different people? That seemed strange.
He studied the labels again. What did AA stand for?
Plagg woke up from his nap at that moment.
Floating over towards Adrien from his napping spot on a shelf, he saw the contents of the box that Adrien had been looking into. "Hey, wow, look at all those things! Those must be the gifts that Sugarcube told me about!" Plagg sniffed the air. "She has bad taste in gifts. There's no cheese!"
"What gifts? For who? From who?" Adrien quirked an eyebrow.
"Pfft, of course you can't figure it out. You never change." Plagg rolled his eyes, but there was a tiny fond smirk on his face as he explained to his chosen, "Apparently, your girlfriend is a little obsessed with you. She made gifts for you for every birthday you have up until the age of 60!"
"Huh, but the labels go up to 80?" Adrien said absentmindedly, looking down at the gifts again.
"Guess she added more since then," Plagg shrugged.
Suddenly, what Plagg had told Adrien finally managed to register in his head.
"These are for me?!?" Adrien practically shrieked. His eyes widened when he remembered Marinette was sleeping. Hopefully, he hadn't woken her up. With a hushed tone, he asked, "Are you just messing with me again?"
"I do enjoy doing that. I should have done that!" Plagg facepalmed. "Missed opportunities."
"Plagg!"
"Jeeeez, calm down, kid. I am just messing with ya. Well, I mean, just now I was. Before I was actually telling the truth. Pigtails was, and still is, for some unfathomable reason, head over heels for you." At that, Plagg was done with the subject and flew away, likely to go find Tikki.
Which left Adrien flabbergasted. Gobsmacked. Astounded. Amazed.
"Wow. She really loves me," he mumbled to himself as if this was somehow new information to him. He felt his heart swell, brimming with overwhelming, warm love and utter bliss.
He sighed dreamily, how did he ever get so lucky?
Suddenly, he couldn't wait to turn a year older each year. He couldn't wait to see each and every birthday gift she made him/bought him (he assumed handmade, but he would still be perfectly happy with purchased gifts).
His thoughts swirled as he thought of wonderful possibilities of what the gifts could be. Then he came to the realization.
She made him gifts up until he was 80!
That basically meant she planned on spending her whole life with him!
This new revelation sent him over the moon. He was in paradise. He couldn't even remember how it felt to be sad in this moment. His girlfriend was the epitome of his happiness and well-being.
As he immersed himself in these wonderful thoughts, he failed to notice his fully awakened partner enter the room.
"Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!" Marinette screamed, completely snapping him out of his reverie and scaring the crap out of him.
"What's the matter, Mari?!" Adrien asked in alarm as he turned to look at his beautiful lobster-red girlfriend.
"Y-you! W-what's that in front of you?!" Marinette's stutter returned full force as she panicked.
"Your birthday gifts for me," he replied calmly, not seeing the issue. "Don't worry, I didn't open any of them!"
His sunshine smile did little to soothe her frazzled nerves.
"Buhhh. But! Aren't you, you know..." Marinette looked down as she quickly mumbled the final part of her sentence, "FreakedoutbyhowcreepyIam?"
"What? Why would I be?" Adrien looked genuinely confused. "The fact that you planned out gifts for the next 60 years of my life shows how incredible thoughtful you are. Not to mention, how creative you are to be able to think of what to give me at each age. Oh! And not to mention, how organized you are for planning so far in advanced!" he spoke with pure excitement.
"R-really?" she asked, still unsure.
"Definitely! And it especially makes me happy to know you want to give me a gift every year until I'm 80!" Adrien was still smiling, though it suddenly morphed into a sly smirk when he added, "Which basically means you want to spend the rest of your life with me."
Marinette squeaked but she couldn't deny it. And his smolder was paralyzing her. No one would be able to form a response when being looked at like he was looking at her.
A moment later, his sweet smile returned. "Besides, I've got a 10 page list of things that I can get you for future birthdays. I haven't purchased or made them yet, so I'm not quite as prepared as you, but I'm still just as obsessed with you as you are with me, if not more so. So don't sweat it, M'Lady Love."
He stood up abruptly and strode over to her, pulling her into a romantic kiss before she had a chance to grasp what was happening.
She melted once she had realized.
He peppered more kisses on her face and lips, finding her too irresistible to stop.
Eventually, he reluctantly pulled away and rested his forehead against hers.
"But out of all the birthday gifts in the world, my favourite will always be you."

Everyone Needs to Shower - Chapter 3
Also on AO3 Chapter 1   Chapter 2   Chapter 3
This story was a one shot. But then Hilzabub suggested something (chapter 2) and Dragon_of_the_Sea suggested a post reveal stress relief use for freshly bathed Plagg (and as noted last chapter, I'm weak!).
This chapter is for day 11 of my ML WIP Completion Challenge
Adrien returned to his room after dinner and went immediately to his little refrigerator.  "Hey Plagg," he called, pulling out a cardboard package and tugging at the tabs. "Eat up."
"There's not an akuma," Plagg grumbled. "And yet you clearly expect me to suit up."  He flew out from the trash can where he'd been lounging. "What's the deal?"
"What with her university applications pending and that imminent contest announcement My Lady is pretty stressed," he said.
Plagg gulped his cheese. "We're going to see Sugarcube and Cupcake?"  He darted down to hop up and down on Adrien's miraculous. "C'mon, kid.  Suit up already."
Adrien smiled.  "Never thought I'd see the day you were eager to transform."  Getting to know who his Ladybug was under the suit had, had all sorts of nice side benefits.  Not the least of which was cuddles and dates.
"Our Ladies need us," Plagg hissed, zipping up to poke Adrien in the nose.  "Say the words dude."
"Plagg, claws out."  He couldn't be upset with Plagg being as smitten with Marinette as he was.  He had a special affinity with Tikki, himself, so it was a good balance.
Chat Noir slipped out the window with the ease of years of practice and was darting across the rooftops the next moment.  In what seemed like no time at all, he was landing on Marinette's balcony. He listened, hearing her voice inside, and waited until he determined she was ranting to herself.  Poor Buginette. She tended to wildly catastrophize when she was stressed and worried. It was probably the same part of her brain that lead to such brilliant designs and that let her figure out the crazy uses for her lucky charms. He leaned down and tapped on her skylight.
Tikki phased through the window.  "Oh, am I glad to see you."
"That bad?" Chat Noir asked, reaching for the handle.
Tikki shook her head.  "I can't get her to listen to me.  She's going to make herself sick."
"So I'm welcome, then?" he asked, itching to see his girlfriend, but hesitating out of respect.
Tikki giggled. "You're not a vampire silly.  Now get in there."
He wasted no further time, lifting the hatch and letting himself in with the speed and silence that had become his hallmarks.  He dropped his transformation as his feet hit the floor.
"Look, Marinette," Tikki said, darting in front of her holder.  "It's our boys."
"Huh?" She looked up just as the green  flash faded. Her hair was a mess and she looked like she hadn't slept well in days. "Oh. Hi. I'm sorry, I'm not going to be very good company, but the waiting is kind of getting to me." The words came out in a rush.
"And that's why we're here Cupcake," Plagg said, rushing over to nuzzle her cheek.  He looked back at Adrien. "We need to haul out the big guns, kid."
Adrien smiled, pleased he and the cranky cat were on the same page. "I couldn't agree more."  He slipped an arm around Marinette's shoulders, ushering her to the sink in the corner of her room.  Getting the water to a pleasant temperature, he plugged the drain.
"What are we doing?" Marinette asked.  As he'd found in the past, random non-sequiturs tended to snap her out of her mental spiral.
"Grooming," Plagg said. "It's what cats do to comfort each other."
She stared at the black kwami as he rummaged in the small drawer for a sample bottle of shampoo.  The one he pulled out contained lavender. "Grooming? So you're going to was my hair?"
"Pfft," Plagg giggled.  "Nope."
Adrien rolled over one of her chairs and raised it up. "Have a seat Mari.  I'm going to brush your hair while you give Plagg a bath."
Marinette sat down, still looking puzzled as Plagg nestled under her hand.
Adrien watched his girlfriend get started, her initial movements unsure until she got a feel for things, then he went to work on her hair.  He removed her ties and started at the end, working out the snarls as gently as he could. By the time her hair was smooth and silky, she was smiling a little as she played with Plagg in the sink.  Tikki floated over and helped Adrien brain Marinette's hair so it wouldn't tangle up again too soon.
"So when did this become a thing?" Tikki whispered.
"Ages ago, actually," Adrien said.  While he remembered the first time he'd made Plagg have a shower, he could no longer recall exactly what lead to it.
She shook her little head.  "No wonder you two have such a strong bond.  You've worked past his attitude and appealed to the cat."
"It was an accident at first," Adrien admitted.  "But it grew on both of us." He leaned over Marinette's shoulder to kiss her cheek.  "Okay. Bathtime's over. Time for drying." Tikki helped him find a towel and a hair dryer, and he set up a nest for them all to snuggle in on her floor.  Marinette was adorable as she scooped the sodden kwami out of the water bundling him into the towel and cuddling him close.
"Why is this working?" Tikki asked.
Adrien handed Marinette the dryer.  "Make sure you run your fingers through his coat so it doesn't clump up."  He winked at Tikki. "She's a caretaker, so this feeds that need. And petting a cat lowers blood pressure."
Marinette continued to contentedly scritch at Plagg well after he was dry.  She was able to set aside the blow dryer and use both hands. She looked utterly at peace., a nice change from her earlier state.
"You're so soft," Marinette whispered in a tiny squeal.  "Sooooo soft."
Plagg purred vigorously at her, nuzzling her palms.
"When did she last eat?" Adrien asked.
"Supper, but she mostly picked at it," Tikki said.  "Sleep is really the more pressing concern."
"You're the cutest softest thing ever," Marinette murmured.
"Okay, sweet Princess," Adrien said, easing her into a reclined position.  She was pretty adorable when she was overtired. "You just cuddle with the cutest softest thing ever, and Tikki and I will cuddle you."
Shummed in response.
Plagg slowly moved closer, encouraging Marinette to curl in further.
Adrien wrapped himself around her, pulling a blanket up over them both as Tikki settled on his neck.
"I appreciate this, Adrien," Tikki whispered.  "But I have to tell you, this is the weirdest thing I've ever seen, and I've seen a lot of weird things."
This wraps up the hygienic Plagg experience. Thanks for reading!

Pone Reviews 9: Spike at Your Service Another edition of Pone Reviews is upon us! Because the voting on my Twitter page ended in a 50/50 tie, I decided to break the tie with Season 3's "Spike at Your Service!" Let's get to it! There are two kinds of Spike episodes; Episodes where he gets decent character development and episodes about him that suck. Happy to report that this episode falls into the former category for me. Spike is a great character with so much potential... if he is written right. His devotion to the Dragon Code is admirable in a way. I've read story upon story about someone getting another out of a pickle and the other is a straight-up douche about it. I'm glad Spike's devotion to help Applejack and her family does not end with somepony getting their britches in a bunch. Applejack's annoyance with Spike is reasonable, especially for an independent, stubborn pony like herself. But she's not a jerk about it. And THAT'S what I appreciate. Now how about that moral? "When a friend helps another friend, you don't owe them your life. Just say, 'That's what friends do' and leave it at that." Okay, that's cool and all, but what percentage of the target audience has actually saved someone's life like that? I feel like most of this lesson is based on the life-saving portion and that this wouldn't apply to a more common situation. "Hey, thanks for letting me borrow your pencil. I am indebted to you for the rest of my living years." Don't get me wrong; I like the lesson. I just think the episode got a little out of hand with how they conveyed it. Other things about this episode that bug me: *The Dragon Code feels... sudden. It wasn't established before this episode. (Please feel free to correct me in the comments.) And it's never been mentioned again. It's all about the *continuity.* *You have to feel sorry for Spike in that he really doesn't have much he can think of to do for himself besides smelling his own feet and playing bongos on his stomach. It's actually really depressing when you think about it. "Wanna go get a sapphire cupcake at Sugarcube Corner?" "Nah, I'll just SMELL MY OWN FEET. My life doesn't have much more meaning than this." *After this episode, I don't think we've gotten one meaningful Timberwolf appearance. (Please see next section for reference.) And here are some other things about this episode that I liked: *TIMBERWOLVES. YAS. GIVE ME ALL THE TIMBERWOLVES. THEY LOOK AWESOME. THE TIMBERWOLF TROUBLEMAKER IN THE PREMIERE MLP:CCG SET HAS A CRAPPY ABILITY BUT THE VISUALS MAKE UP FOR IT. MORE TIMBERWOLVES PLEASE. *Another MLP:CCG mention: This episode brought us a pony known as Ponka Po. I don't know who she is, just like everyone else, but she has bitchin' facial hair. And we love her for it. *I don't know why I find the hoof-claw bump at the end so cute. Is it because AJ doesn't have fingers? Overall, a somewhat unrealistic episode with a charming message and decently written Spike. Not something we seem to get too often anymore... decently written Spike, I mean. 3.5 out of 5 rainbows 🌈🌈🌈% That puts the finishing touches on this week's throwback Pone Reviews. Tomorrow, we get to see Sunburst act like a bit of a jerk. Also, don't forget I host polls on my Twitter handle @diamondsong42 to decide the next throwback Pone Reviews! Next Saturday's focus: Map missions! Make sure to vote and tell me what you want to see! Diamond out!
