Okay, but what if... what if, and I do say this with a lot of whimsy :)))), your character is the one sweetening Gale up? I'm still chipping at my poetry asks (my brain is chugging out metaphors like no one's business), but Gale being the subject of syrupy poetics is either, one, an endearing gesture that has him very fondly laughing, or two, outright sending him into disgustingly taken silence. Gale is out of practice with romantic overtures (I would argue he essentially has never gotten one at all considering it was Mystra he was with), but he isn't a bumbling schoolboy. He's nearing 40. He won't be a mess, but he may be tastefully and delightfully bashful... a smidge of a blush and a very open, sincere smile, too.
