#I wish I could be in a fictional world like Miraculous Ladybug and I'd be able to take care of Juleka in the proper way

I knew this part bothered me for a reason. Poor Juleka, thankfully you have Rose who ACTUALLY does SOMETHING to try comforting you properly.
I suffer from intense anxiety and I know full well how guilt kills you from the inside-out, and in my experience, having friends just send hearts and stuff when I'm feeling like that just kinda pisses me off. Like, use words.
How hard is it to say something like, "Juleka, we're so sorry for not taking your feelings in full consideration. We all meant well and we just wanted to help lessen the burden for Rose after we heard about her hospital visit, but we see now that all of that was too overbearing and unnecessary." Or "You confided in secret with Marinette your concerns, and we had no right to involve ourselves in your business like that."
I can go on and on over this, but I'll try to keep it short:
If a friend tells you a secret or tells you about something that is very personal or meaningful to them, respect their wishes and don't tell anyone else. If anything, you step back and if your friend wants to open up to others, let them know that way. Don't go behind your friend's back. Because when your friend realizes that MORE people know about their problem and then start acting differently because of that, that just causes tension and panic and if it were me, I'd start having trust issues and be like "I can't tell you anything anymore because you'll make such a big deal out of it.."
And seriously, don't make jokes about sensitive subjects. In her defense, Marinette doesn't realize that Rose had to go to the hospital for her 'skipped-breakfast headache', but I personally find it in bad taste to make a comment toward the worried friend and how "if she doesn't eat her lunch, she'll end up just like Rose did."
Maybe I'm putting high standards on the characters, but they should all know how insecure Juleka is and I would expect them to be more careful with what they say or what they do. A neurodivergent's brain is a complicated thing, and I know because I have one and there's so many problems going on in it. It's just so frustrating being the only one (aside from her girlfriend Rose) that understands what this poor girl goes through. I get so heated over it, U G H
Ranking the texts that the Miraculous Class sent to Juleka after she ran to the bathroom to cry in Guilttrip
I'm not going to explain myself here
S Tier: An actual text!
Marinette is the only character that (explicitly) sent Juleka an actual text with actual words here. She apologized for the situation getting out of hand. Completely normal text. The only S tier.
Tumblr media
Everyone else sent emojis. We're ranking emojis from here on out.
A Tier: A nice sentiment
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mylène, Nino, Kim, and Alix sent her hearts. Uncontroversial, sweet. Clearly telling her that they care for her. Alix chose a cupid heart, which is a bit of a choice, but I'll allow it.
B Tier: A bit confused, but they've got the spirit
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Max's emoji is a bit too smiley for my taste given the situation (she just ran off to cry!), and Nathaniel's borders on flirting, but I think the sentiment they were trying to convey is clear enough, even if they missed the mark just a smidge. Still sweet enough for a B.
C Tier: Weirdly passive aggressive???
Tumblr media
Sabrina, what were you thinking? Imagine someone in your class (who has helped bully you in the past!!!!) sent you this emoji while you were crying. I kind of love the audacity of it, tbh. I'm sure this isn't meant to be passive aggressive, so let's just hope Juleka knows that, too.
(Side note: we see later that Marinette ALSO sent this emoji? Presumably after the "I'm so sorry!" text? Marinette? ??? Why? I think this emoji actually undermines her text. Maybe Marinette should also be bumped down to C tier.)

And that brings us to last, and also least...

Come the fuck on, guys.

20 Questions: Writer’s Edition
thanks @emsylcatac for the tag!
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
sixteen!
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
86,713... wonder if i can make it to 100k by the end of the year!
3. How many fandoms have you written for and what are they?
just miraculous ladybug. tbh i never thought i would write fic until joining this fandom. i still don't know if i'll ever write for anything else!
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
unsurprisingly, my most popular fics are the standalone lovesquare fics
our hands would not be taught to hold another's
Me, My Best Friend, and Her Cat
full exposure
and say you want me
an uncurtain discovery
5. Do you respond to comments, why or why not?
yes, i try to respond to all of them! sometimes a bit late, i've definitely got some unanswered in my inbox because sometimes i have to choose between writing or answering comments, and i figure if someone likes my fic enough to comment they'd rather have the next chapter. but i always respond eventually because i really appreciate every comment and i want to show that appreciation, even if i'm not always great at taking compliments. seriously all of my commentors rock and people who take the time to write comments on every chapter are the backbone of fandom.
6. What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
coin operated boy is my angstiest fic, full stop. it does have an unofficial crack sequel, but the fic itself ends on an angsty cliffhanger. i don't like sad endings so i want to write a more serious continuation one day but it's on indefinite hiatus until i have the emotional energy for that.
7. What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending?
hm, probably our hands would not be taught to hold another's? that's a harder question but since that one has the fluffy epilogue i think it would be the happiest
8. Do you write crossovers? If yes, what’s the craziest thing you’ve written?
nope
9. Have you ever received hate on a fic?
yeah, someone i met on a discord server really disliked me to the point that after i'd blocked him on tumblr and left the server, he went after me on ao3.
i think that's the only real hate i've gotten though? some people did assume our hands would not be taught to hold another's was salt early on so i ended up changing the summary (i wrote the summary before i was made aware adrien losing the ring was a big salt trope so i went back to make it clear that wasn't the plan at all)
10. Do you write smut? If so what kind?
no, i get embarrassed writing kisses. my face gets all red every time. i'm just not strong enough to write smut yet
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
not that i am aware of
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
nope
13. Have you ever co-written a fic?
nope. i would love to because it sounds fun! but also stressful because my writing style is kinda chaotic and idk how coordinating would go
14. What’s your all time favourite ship?
i'd have to say lovesquare since it's the first ship i've ever been invested in enough to actually start writing
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
like i said in question 6, i'd like to go back coin operated boy eventually but idk if/when that will happen
16. What’s your writing strengths?
grammar? 😅 idk really. i write a lot for work and i wrote a lot during school so i feel pretty confident with basic writing mechanics and clarity, but fiction wise i'm not sure? characterization, probably?
17. What’s your writing weaknesses?
description is really hard for me, especially describing like objects and settings and stuff. i really wish i could add more poetry and beauty and richness to the world my characters are inhabiting. i always have to remind myself they aren't just chilling out in a blank void and that they should interact with physical objects.
18. What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in fic?
i avoid it. i don't speak any other languages and it seems silly to run a sentence through google translate just so the reader can put it through again - i'd rather just say the character was speaking whatever language if i need. i might make an exception for words that don't have direct translations but it hasn't really come up yet.
19. What was the first fandom you wrote for?
still just this one
20. What’s your favourite fic you’ve written?
ohhhhh, saving the hardest for last. i'm probably the most proud of our hands would not be taught to hold another's, since i really didn't think i was capable of writing a long multichaptered story until i actually did it there. i reread it recently and i can see my growth as a writer from the first chapter to the final one too, which is neat.

One step further - Lila is a Gwenpool character.
She's from a world like our own (which means to her it's the "real world" but to us it's just another fictional world in which miraculous ladybug also happens to be a TV show like in our world) where she was living a relatively normal life as a pretty average girl, except!
She was a huge miraculous ladybug fan. In fact, she's a fan of all kinds of cartoons, and this actually gets her mocked and ridiculed at school. So she doesn't have a lot of friends, and her parents, supportive and understanding as they try to be, don't really get her hobbies and interests and wish she could find a way to fit in.
Not because they don't like the way she is, but because they want an easier life for her, a happier life. One evening, when she's watching a miraculous marathon late into the night, she wishes quietly to herself: "if I could walk through the screen into that world, I'd do it and never look back. I bet I'd fit in perfectly there! I'd know exactly what to do and say to make everyone impressed and amazed, and I'd never be caught off guard by an unexpected twist because the status quo always resets at the end of every episode!"
And as she gets more and more passionate, still whispering but now energetically pacing around her room, the TV screen glows brighter and brighter, until it finally catches her attention and like a moth to flame she approaches it, slow and cautious, and presses a curious hand to the screen, as suddenly the light engulfs the entire room for a moment and then, just as quickly!
Stops. As if the TV was never on at all.
(So this kinda got away from me and that's not even all of it. Sorry @ultrakart for derailing your post but also if you or anyone else reading this wanna see more I'll make a part two. I just really like Gwenpool and I think writing from that angle I can finally make that Lila redemption arc I've always said I believe is possible but didn't think I knew how to do).
Idea: Lila can break the 4th wall, she’s genre aware, and she HATES the fact that she’s living in a kid’s show.
“Wow Ladybug, what’s the lesson that the kids are gonna learn in THIS episode?”
“If I hear about the power of friendship oNE MORE TIME-”
“The only reason you weren’t sliced in half is because this show is rated Y7 smh”
