give me dystopian future plots
// *heavy breathing* y’aLL SOMEONE ANYONE PLEASE I would sell my soul for any of the following:
READY PLAYER ONE - The world has gone to shit but rather than fixing our problems we build an escape. An online universe called the Oasis where you can create your own Avatar and look however you want and buy gadgets and cool outfits and nothing is real but there are literal planets for whatever you want to do to spend your days. Gimme two muses who meet in the Oasis and fall for each other but maybe muse a has doubts because the feelings might just be for the fake version of themselves they created, but muse b is positive it’s the real deal and wants to meet in real life.
THE 5TH WAVE - Aliens attacked and they are looking to wipe out humanity, not communicate or make peace. After cutting power, sending floods and releasing plagues only 1 in 10,000 are immune to, humanity has dwindled significantly. Those who survive are made into hosts, so no one can trust anyone. Imagine muse a who was separated from their family and has been alone for months, hiding out in a family cabin deep in the woods, coming across muse b, a total stranger who claims to be seeking shelter. Can they trust one another not to be hosts, or will bloodshed have to prove their loyalty?
THE MAZE RUNNER - Muse a wakes up in a metal elevator that brings him to a place called the Glade. He has no memory of who he is or how he got there. The elevator box surfaces from under the ground every month supplying new food, tools, and sometimes weapons. Every month a new boy with no memory of anything but his first name, finds himself in that elevator box. The Glade is surrounded by a square of 4 mile-high walls made of concrete. Outside the walls is the Maze, a labyrinth of high concrete walls covered in ivy that changes every day. The Gladers are trying to stay alive as well as "solve" the Maze. One day after muse a’s arrival, muse b, a girl, is delivered through the elevator into the Glade with a note saying "She's the last one. Ever."
THE HUNGER GAMES - Set in Panem, a country consisting of the wealthy Capitol and 12 districts in varying states of poverty. Every year, children from the districts are selected to participate in a compulsory annual televised death match called The Hunger Games. Give me two Victors from differing years (think Finnick and Annie) muse a who has been dragged out every year to be a mentor after winning at a young age, and muse b who won at eighteen and is now going to be forced to take over that role. Give me shared trauma bonding and pesty Capitol citizens wanting every detail of their lives, and being manipulated for political gain by people who don’t even know them. Or hell, even give me the plot of the first book. I just need this.
THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW -  After ignored warnings of climate change, a storm system develops in the northern hemisphere, splitting into three superstorms above Canada, Scotland, and Siberia. The gigantic "hurricanes" pull frozen air from the upper troposphere into their center, sending air temperature there below -150 degrees Fahrenheit. The subzero temperatures of the superstorms' eyes cause flash freezing. Meanwhile, the weather becomes increasingly bad around the world, Tokyo is struck by a giant hail storm and Los Angeles and Hollywood are devastated by a tornado outbreak. Throw two muses into a situation where they’re both total strangers desperately attempting to survive the weather, and of course, the aftermath.
