As apparently one of few people who took Ventress at her word that Omega showed no signs in the moment of innate Force potential in between bitching about the challenges lol, I took the ending of this episode and Ventress's final "you're lying" vaguely ambiguous convo with Hunter and Crosshair to be an echo of Crosshair's earlier sentiment: "It doesn't matter [why they want her], we're not handing her over"
vs
"It doesn't matter if her count is high, she's in the same danger either way and you're not ready."
But this is also swayed by the hill I will be dying on, that episode 3 did not in any way imply Omega has a high number. Her use to Hemlock is much deeper than that, he clearly has plenty of "m-count" specimens already.

Omega - What was she made for
In season 1, we learnt that Omega is a clone with pure first generation DNA, not modified for growth acceleration or obedience like the other clones (I guess because she was never intended to be used in combat). We also learn that she is part of Nala Se's enhanced clone project ("A state of heightened awareness is not unusual for an enhanced clone such as herself. When Nala Se spoke of five clones, Tarkin assumed that meant us, but Echo's a reg. The fifth is Omega." - Tech, S1E1).
Season 1 also raised the question of what Omega's purpose is to the Kaminoans, since the rest of the batch are engineered with "desirable mutations" (Cody TCW S7E1) as part of Nala Se's experiments to "yield a superior clone" (Lama Su, TBB S1E3).
Cut: What's with the girl? Hunter: She's a defective clone, like we are. Cut: Not exactly. Hunter: What do you mean? Cut: The Kaminoans don't create without a purpose. You all have one, so what's hers? (S1E2)
Now, based on what we currently know from this season, it seems that Omega's enhancement/purpose is her ability to maintain and replicate midichlorian levels in her blood. I'm assuming this was a deliberate enhancement rather than simply a case of her being 'born that way'. It has also been made clear that Nala Se is very aware that Omega has this special biological trait (wanting to keep her safe from the Empire back in season 1, destroying her blood samples, helping her escape), but it doesn't seem like anyone else knew that prior to the testing on Tantiss. So, was Nala Se playing around with the prospect of being able to create force sensitive clones as a superior 'product' the Kaminoans could offer (either by using Omega's blood in a similar way Hemlock intends to, or by just straight up tranfusing midichlorians into her - though the second option seems less likely)? If so, was there a particular reason why she kept it under raps? Was it just a little fun side project all of her own?
And was Omega created purely for this scientific purpose? Or did Nala Se actually want a little clone girl assistant too? She does seem to care about Omega, in her own strange, Kaminoan way. I have often wondered if she bonded with the girl over time, or if she created Omega with the added bonus of her being a sort of 'daughter'/lab partner for her (the existence of Emerie kind of raises the same question, as well as a WHOLE BUNCH of the other questions, which I won't add to this already long post).
I realistically expect that not all of these specific details will ever be addressed, but I still wonder about it. These characters are just so intriguing to me.
Regardless, Omega's purpose now should be to live peacefully and freely on Pabu or some other beautiful planet having all the fun she wants with a family that loves her forever 🥺🙏

Take The Moment and Taste It
Tumblr media
Chapter 7
Tumblr media
"Dr. Karr, limit your interaction with these useless people. You're not purposed for this."
"Doctor, I am going to ask..."
He cut her word "Your purpose is assist me to build the better creation to serve. This is where you belong, Dr. Karr. Do it or your failure is on your hand ."
Dr. Hemlock pointed his blaster at her which she was shocked "Doctor...? Think clearly, Doctor."
He didn't listen to her and shot her instead.
........
Emerie was shocked as awoke from her nightmare. She noticed her heartbeat was going faster than usual then breathing faster. She walked to the window and tried to control her breath as staring at the night sky to let herself know that she was not on Tantiss anymore. Few minutes later, she finally could breath like usual.
Then she noticed Crosshair staring at the Patio, this wasn't something she usually see. All she could saw were troopers and other doctors walked around the lab. Her relationship with Crosshair was complicated, last time they talked was about to stop them from escape from Tantiss and ending with him stun her out.
She took a long breath and walked to the patio. She opened the door a bit to make sure she wouldn't wake the others up.
As she walked to him, she started to speak "Crosshair ?"
Crosshair was surprised as turning around it was her showing up.
"Why are you outside by yourself at this late ?" She asked.
"None of your concern. Mind your own bussiness."
"You're one of my bussiness, Crosshair."
Crosshair scoffed.
"Are you still thinking about Tantiss ?" She guessed
Crosshair was shocked "Go away !"
Emerie was shocked as walking away, she never was yelled by before. The last time she reacted that way was Hemlock called Dr. Karr, instead her first name.
Crosshair then felt a bit guilty as figuring out that Emerie had been trying to be empathy like Omega. After all, Omega would be upset if he didn't treat her like a part of them.
Crosshair sighed "Wait !" Crosshair called her back right before Emerie enter the house "Forget I asked. I could use a company right now."
Emerie was surprised by it, not really sure if he was ready to interect with her but she decided to take some steps. Next she stood besides him and joined to stare at the night sky.
Tumblr media
Soon after that, Crosshair sighed "Before I ended on Tantiss, I thought I was going to be a good soilder. I thought being a good soilder was following orders but I was wrong."
"The first time I realized was figuring out the empire only wants numbers. They didn't care when my friend was dying, sacrificed himself to save me in a snowstorm."
She was shocked, noticing his tears on his eyes "I regret I couldn't do more for him, I regret that I had been stuck on the wrong side all along."
Emerie slowly gave him a comfort by rubbing his arm softly.
"I wish I would listen to Hunter sooner so I didn't have to deal of..."
"...losing Tech ?" She guessed and again, Crosshair was shocked.
"Omega had been talking about your brothers including you, Crosshair. She had a faith on you." "She always has a faith of all of us to be a family again." Crosshair replied.
Emerie gave him a smile "I am very glad you could have that back." He nodded.
"Your turn." Emerie had no idea what was Crosshair talking about "My turn for what ?" "Sharing your story."
"Oh..." Emerie thought herself should she tell Crosshair what was she experiencing lately or not. "Which one do you want me to talk about ?" "Heh, up to you."
She sighed "I just had a nightmare that Dr. Hemlock was going to kill me if I didn't follow his order."
"But you didn't. Hunter and I really made sure we took Hemlock down for good so he couldn't take us anymore." He reassured.
"I know but since then, I've been heard his voices in my head."
"I have his voices as well sometimes." He admitted which surprising her "I thought it was the end of myself but I had second chance and made things right with my brother, including Omega and you."
"You really mean that ?" Emerie asked.
He explained "I know what you did to me back at Tantiss was wrong but you have soft side to the children. I could tell that you deserve to live like the rest of us."
Emerie smiled at him "I am trying to adapt and fit in."
Crosshair nodded "Keep that up, Emerie. You will through it."
They stared each other, just making a good interaction between of them. "You know what's difference of us ?" "What ?" He responded. "You didn't end with stun me down this time."
Taglist: @leosardonyx18 , @cassie-fanfics , @zaya-mo , @genericficerblog , @kanerallels , @aesira-of-orion , @twinsunstars
Crosshair smirked "Yeah, that's a good one." They back staring at the night sky until they were sleepy to go back to bed.

Cyare Verd *Beloved Warrior* Bad Batch Edition
Previous Chapter
Crosshair
When I wake up, I notice Omega is already gone and our new trays are on the table, hers is empty. Must be I needed the sleep...for once I don't feel completely miserable...I get up, eat my breakfast, shower, and change into another unfortunately large set of Imperial blacks I was so graciously given....the pants are so big they drag on the floor and I have to tie them so tight to fit them around my waist. Don't even get me started on the shirt....there's a knock on the door before it opens revealing Doctor Emerie and shes got some device in her hand. I cock my head at her, she clears her throat before speaking. "I know we didn't get off on the right foot but I spoke with Omega—"
"I just want to know if we can trust you" I sass, cutting her off. "Like I have said before, I know it may not seem like it but I am on your side...what they are asking us to do to the other clones...they deserved better than this and I thought if I was in the middle of it I could help them but Hemlock he—" "I get it...can you get the message to Crosshair or not?" "I would but I am being watched very closely. I have talked them into putting you here with Omega in exchange for her cooperation and they have agreed to let you roam with the rest of the clones" she gestures to me with the device in her hand. "Whats that for?" "You'll have to wear it around. They will track everywhere you go."
A string of curses leave my mouth in Mando'a. She comes over and gently places the device around my ankle. "Why do you care so much?" "Omega talks about you and the others a lot. You matter to her more than I ever could. She needs you." I nod my thanks to her and instead of turning to leave, she's still standing there. She almost reminds me of Tech. I decide to apologize to her "Look, I'm sorry for taking a swing at you our first say here...if I had known..." "No, it's alright...I heard the rumors about Mandalorians...that they were violent...but you were just trying to protect her." This time she does turn to leave and I mentally thank Maker for this painful interaction to be over.
When she exits she nods at the guards outside the door who take their leave. Initially I hesitate feeling like the minute I leave something will be waiting for me on the other side of the door. But once I step out and nothing happens I breathe a sigh of relief. "Jii meg (now what)" I glance down the halls to see where exactly I'm allowed to wander. To my right I see more stormtroopers guarding a door. Guess I'm not going that way. To my left the hall way turns and I can hear voices. Curiously I stroll down that way and see a few sets of double doors and a few clones milling around. Pushing open the first ones, I enter a large balcony that has a high fence - probably so no one can throw themselves over. Clones are milling around everywhere and I find myself getting lost in the sea of mostly identical men. Some have different hair cuts, scars, and tattoos that make them unique, but other than that they all look identical.
"Vode..." I whisper to myself. One of the clones walking by stops and look at me like he heard me. He's got the short dark brown buzz cut like like the others but his eyes are...blue??? "Tion'ad cuyir gar? (Who are you?)" he asks in perfect Mando'a. I struggle for words being more surprised he speaks Mando'a or the fact that theres so many clones in here. "You speak Mando'a don't you?" He asks again. "Uh lek (yeah)." "Who are you?" "I'm Raven, you are?" "CT-0247" "Do you have a name?" "They call me Blue." I chuckle "I wonder why." He eyes me for a second "You're not a clone so why are you here?" "That's the million credit question now isn't it...where is here?" Better not tell them why I am really here...not sure what kind of response I'll get...
"Now that's the million credit question...You must have something they want." "yeah...something like that...hey have you seen a clone that goes by Crosshair? He's not like the rest—" Blue sighs "Yeah he's over there...not very friendly fella if you ask me..." I follow Blue's gaze and see Crosshair sitting at a table by himself, toothpick in mouth, eyeing the clones moving around him. "Vor'e! (Thanks!)" I start to head his direction when Blue yells "Good luck...you'll need it..."
Crosshair sees me coming and rolls his eyes, shifting the toothpick in his mouth. "Crosshair—" "No" I give him a nasty look. "I know who you are. I'm here with Omega." "Congratulations..now leave me alone..." his voice is monotoned like he really couldn't careless. I roll my eyes and sigh sitting down at the table. He scoffs "yes...please...have a seat". I lean over the table to whisper to him "Look we are going to get out of here do you want to help or not?" He crosses his arms over his chest and doesn't break eye contact with me. "If you are trying to intimidate me it's not going to work...your vode (brothers) told me all about you..." He leans forwards over the table and reaches across yanking off my necklace. "Hey!" He dangles it in front of his face. "Mandalorian..." "Mir'sheb (smart ass)" I sass. He quirks a brow and tosses my necklace back to me. "I deserve to be here so how about you run along..." I sigh and lean back "You're going to be impossible aren't you?" He doesn't respond just stares me down.
"Look we lost Tech...I just thou—" that seems to catch his attention because he shifts ever so slightly I almost missed it. "What happened to Tech?" His voice doesn't change but I definitely stuck something. "He sacrificed himself...to save us...who were looking for you." He crosses his arms and leans back in his seat "I don't deserve to be saved..." I pinch the bridge of my nose and curse in Mando'a to myself. "Look whatever you did doesn't matter now...clones are disappearing from the galaxy so whenever the Empire decides they're done with you, they're probably going to kill you and everyone else in here..." "You're not a clone...so why are you here?" I bite the inside of my cheek, my gut is telling me to trust him but there's an alarm going off in my head at the same time.
"You speak Mando'a?" An annoyed look crosses his face but he nods. "Ni cuy'gar yaihadla... (I'm pregnant...)" I pause giving him a second to process. Makes he's so hard to read. "Bal Val vhisur at mirdir bic pirimmuy (And they seem to think it's useful)" "Tion'ad cuyir te buir? (Who is the father?)" he finally speaks... "Hunter..." his expression doesn't change. "Are you going to help or not?" I ask starting to lose my patience. He still doesn't say anything and now I'm frustrated "ugh, gar cuy'umaan (You're difficult). Meg vod gar cuyir (What a brother you are)" I mumble the last part, getting up to leave the table. Storming towards the door I pass Blue again "that must have gone well" he says sarcasm dripping from his voice. "Yeah really well..."
When I get back to our room, Omega is there waiting. "Where have you been?" She sounds worried. "I had the pleasure of meeting Crosshair..." my annoyance quite obvious. "He's not going to help us?" I plop down on the bed "I don't know Om'ika...he didn't exactly say no but he didn't say yes either." "Did you tell him about..." "Yeah I told him about Tech..." "And?" "He isn't exactly a talker." She sighs and sits next to me "What are we going to do?" "I'm not sure...I'll have to keep working on him I guess...there's got to be a part of him that wants to help..." We both sit there in silence for a few moments, "he'll help. I know he will" Omega says. I sigh "I really hope so..."
————
The next morning, Omega and I go our separate ways - she to help the Doctor and me to work on Crosshair. When I enter the balcony again, it's still such a sad sight, I'm hit with a wave of nausea. Maker I was beginning to think that was almost over... Finding the nearest waste can, I throw up in it. "You seem to be doing well." When I spin around it's the clone from the other day, Blue. "Yeah just wonderful..." "Here to chat with your vod (brother) again?" He teases. "Something like that." "Well best of luck...again." Blue wanders off out the doors.
Looking around I see Crosshair where he was yesterday as if he hasn't moved. I head over and take a seat, Crosshair sighs. "Are we going to do this everyday?" "Until you get it through your head we're getting out of here...yes." He sighs in annoyance, "Fine. How exactly do you plan on doing that?" "Well I was actually hoping you would be able to help with that. We don't know where we are or what the rotations are like here." He sits there quietly for a moment, expression unreadable. "Two guards at those doors at the end of the hall. They change every 10-12 hours. Through those doors are the labs and at the end of the hall, the lift that would take us to the landing platform. Between the platform and us....who knows how many stormtroopers." I think it over for a moment.
"We'll need weapons. Armory?" He nods "should be the level just below the landing platform." I take a deep breath, "Vor entye (thank you) Crosshair. And look...I'm sorry about Tech...I never said that yesterday...he was your vod (brother) too." He again nods saying nothing else. "You're worth saving...all of you are...I wish things were different but we're going to get out of here one way or another." "What about the others?" He asks suddenly which surprises me. I glance around the room at the other clones. “Crosshair…we won’t be able to get them all out. We’ll have to come back or—“
Just then the doors open and my name is being called by Nala Se. I curse to myself in Mando'a, hesitating to stand up. "Room number" Crosshair says. "Ni ceta? (sorry)" "Are we getting out or not? I need to know what room you're in." "217." He nods and I get up as the stormtroopers start to approach. One grabs my wrist to get me moving and I free myself, "Don't touch me" I hiss. The stormtrooper acts like it is going to make a move but Nala Se stops it "Do I need to remind you I need her in perfect health?" The trooper backs off and we head down the hall to the labs.
————
When we get to the lab, something is off. I can't explain it but whatever it is, it's not going to be good. There's a table upright in the center of the room with a series of restraints. Swallowing hard, I slowly step into the room and two stormtroopers immediately grab both of my arms and drag me over to the table. They spin me around before strapping me to it. "What's is this?" Hemlock steps into the light. "You see. We need something a little more from you today." He walks a circle around me, eyeing me with those cold, icey blue eyes. "Your friends are becoming a problem for us and you are going to tell us where they are."
Tipping my head back I laugh "What makes you think I would do that?" Hemlock comes to a halt in front of me, "theres two ways we can do this. Either you willingly offer the information....or..." he motions over his shoulder and an interrogation droid of some kind comes into view. "I'll let the droid get you to talk." The droid gets pretty close to me "If you are trying to intimidate me...you'll have to try harder...I don't scare easy."
Hemlock laughs and it sends a shiver down my spine, but I don't let him notice. "Mandalorians.....that's why the clone army was created from one of your kind. The bravery and loyalty are unwavering...until now that is...." "Whatever you do to me, you do to your science project...I doubt me or my child will be of use to you dead." He scoffs and approaches, running a finger down my cheek. Turning my head I try to avoid his touch but the restraints don't allow me much movement. "My dear...I'm not planning to kill either of you...you'll just wish I was going to...we've been doing studies on more effective methods for interrogation."
The droid swings an arm out with a syringe full of some kind of brightly colored liquid. My heart drops into my stomach - whatever this is it can't be good.... The droid sticks the needle on my arm. At first I don't feel anything but the next thing I know there's a familiar voice. "Cyar'ika?" Tears stream down my face and I squeeze my eyes shut. "Cyar'ika, it's me open your eyes." "NO, You're not here...this isn't real...." At this point I'm sobbing.
The sudden silence is concerning. Slowly, I open my eyes. The scene in front of me is all too familiar....the piles the helmets. Wait....those aren't Mandalorian helmets....they're....Clone trooper buy'ce (Helmets). Looking around more one in particular stands out to me. I slowly bend over and pick it up. The red and black plastoid with a half skull staring me in the face. Overcome with grief, I fall to my knees, chest heaving, clutching the helmet. Closing my eyes I try to collect myself "I'll NEVER tell you where they are Hemlock....even if it kills me....even if it kills us...." I whisper the last part under my breath. The pain of the thought coursing through my body, a strong hatred making me nauseous - this poor child doesn't deserve this fate...I have to believe it gets better......

MY THOUGHTS ON TBB 2×14 "Tipping Point"
I don't know how articulated I'll be in this review. After watching the episode, I'm unwell to say the least. And it all started by seeing the thumbnail for the episode! Whose idea was that? I want to have words with them! I hadn't started watching the episode, and I was having a heart attack already.
It's so good how everything that has happening to this point is fitting like a puzzle. Despite how some people think, the build-up in this season has been spectacular, and now we're seeing the payoff. I told myself a few days ago that today I'd write the Mando review first today, since I didn't last week and TBB season finale is next week, but here I am, doing the opposite because this episode was so freaking good.
So, here are my thoughts and reactions…
It's so good to see Howzer!! You wouldn't believe the noise I made when I realized it was him. Fortunately, I didn't wake up my sleeping family with it. And it was not just him!! All the boys are back!! So good to see Rex, and Echo, and Gregor and new clones!! Yes yes yes!! And the strategy of docking the ship as a distraction while the rest breaches through another place is fantastic!! all the assault to the imperial ship was amazing!
Exciting 5 minutes of interlude were great but going back to Mt. Tantiss. Back to worry about my boy 😩 And there he is! Noooo, what are they going to do with him?! Oh, Force! More clones.
I love Crosshair's "What is it to you?" and "Wrong" with the right amount of disdain and animosity. Sass away, my boy!!
Hemlock might've gotten a tiny itsy bitsy possibility to make Crosshair contemplate the possibility to cooperate with him if he hadn't said that clones were property. Because at first, Crosshair wasn't sure what the doctor's deal was, and he was wary of him, but the second Hemlock said property of the Empire obliterated the infinitesimal willingness Crosshair could have to help him.
And I must say that after the lieutenant taking the first place from Krell as my most hated character in SW, Dr. Hemlock is turning into a strong contestant. Kudos to Jimmi Simpson for making that soft-spoken voice as creepy and terrifying as it is.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! DON'T TORTURE HIM!!!!! MY BABY NOOOOOOOO!!!! 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
OOOHH! Coruscant again!! RIYO!!!! WOOHOO!!!
You need someone to decrypt those files? yeah, Echo knows a guy!! A bespectacled one that's living momentarily on Pabu 😉
STOP TORTURING HIM!!!! 😭😭😭😭😭😭 My poor boy!!! Oh shut up, you karking stormtrooper!!
YES!!! BABY YES!!! kill those mudscruffers and don't you DARE to listen to her! Crosshair, shoot her NOW!!!
YES!! Now run!
Side note: Did you notice that Cross blasted the Stormtroopers, but he just stunned Emerie? I'd not have minded if he had kill her but I guess it shows his honor. Despite she was torturing him, he wouldn't kill her because she... was unarmed or had been nicer to him than the rest?
Come on come on!! Get out of there!
Ha! even drugged and barely able to stand, Crosshair wipes the floor with all these stormtroopers. Good for him
OH YES!! Send a distress call, YES!! OMG OMG OMG OMG!! He's warning them 😭😭😭😭😭 My baby knows there's no escape for him and tries to warn his brothers anyway 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 I'm bawling my eyes out here. He keeps protecting them despite everything that has happened among them.
GRRRRR!!! I want to kill Hemlock so much!! 🔪🔪🔪🔪🔪🔪 I want to make it painful and last for a good while.
Ok. The batch is still living the good life in Pabu and Echo is coming! And my boy Wrecker is enjoying life as he should and deserves.
🤣🤣🤣 Flying lessons with Tech and Omega. Tech is getting a little of his own medicine. He's feel what have felt when he does one of his moves. I think Omega will be/is even more deranged piloting that he is.
Echo is here! Echo is here!!! awwwwwwww Omega jumping to hug him 💙💙
ok watching this going back and forth between exciting/happy things anywhere in the galaxy to stressful and scary Mt. Tantiss makes me feel like an emotional yo-yo. AAAAGGHH!!
😒 tarkin had to appear in this episode too? not fun, but nice way to hint the title of the next episode.
Just by Tech's tone through the comms it's easy to know what he found, it's not good (even if I already know it's absolutely NOT good)
YEEEEESSS!!! YES!! YESS YESS YESS!!! Now that you know Crosshair is there, go rescue him!!!! go go go!!
Oh, my! Wrecker assuming (correctly) that Cross turned on the Empire. That's my boy!! 🥹🥹
Yes!! Cross' message got out! At least the enough to warn his brothers (And hey! Yet another parallel to Kallus, both sending a cutoff message with just enough info to be a good warning)
Hunter has a point!!! From all they know, it perfectly could be a trap. WE know it's not, THEY don't. And I will slap anyone who says anything against Hunter because of this. By the time I'm editing this post, I've already seen a few talking about it, and it makes me shake some people! Hunter's question is 100% valid. I mean, do you remember what happened the last time?!
And the fact that he's having doubts doesn't mean he won't do anything, because as soon Wrecker asks what can they do to make sure, you can see the cogs in Hunter's head turning to make a plan. He's not dismissing the issue, just he's being cautious, which is 100% normal in him.
Oh no!!! 😭😭😭😭😭 Haven't you torture my boy enough?! LEAVE HIM ALONE!!!! I'm crying here, but I cannot help but be proud at that face Cross made. Gawd! The determination to say nothing. He won't break that easily.
I got the feeling Emerie will help Crosshair sometime in the next 2 episodes. Am I crazy to think that? I mean, she seems to treat him better than anyone else (if you ignore all the torture that is) and that last look she had, I don't know. Seems she's not so onboard with Dr. Hamlock anymore.
This episode wrecked me. I'm in shambles! I think the last time I was like this was the episode when Cross lured the batch to Kamino last season, but unlike then, I'm not sure how all this will turn out. I'm terrified of what will happen next week. Last season, I was relatively chilled because I was 99.95% sure nobody was going to die in the finale, which turned out to be true. This time, I'm not so sure. There are too many ways this could go wrong, and I don't want bad things to happen.
Also, I'm trying to keep my hopes low for the happy endings I foresee, so if things go sideways, my disappointment is less. but I wonder if wanting having the batch all together, safe and happy is too much to ask?

Look, I really am glad Emerie came around in the end and I’m sure if we’d gotten more time with her post-realization (like we did with Crosshair), I’d be a bigger fan of hers.
But I really can’t say that I am.
Rewatching 2.14 “Tipping Point” in recent weeks, I really wonder what the writers had planned for her character back in S2.
I almost wondered if she allowed Crosshair to escape on purpose. She stopped his torture when he fell unconscious, gave him meds to help him regain consciousness (presumably), loosened his restraints, and then had the guards re-restrain him, which allowed him to grab the blaster. Then she gives him all this information about the facility while he’s holding her at gunpoint.
Was she trying to be really sneaky in helping Crosshair, or was she just actually incompetent?
I know NOW that she legit was trying to talk him out of it, just like she does with Omega in 3.03.
But I wonder if the writers were trying to give themselves wriggle room to make her a mole or something for S3.
But the fact that she seemed completely unbothered by watching Hemlock torture Crosshair (her genetic brother) for information so Hemlock can kidnap an actual child!!! 🚩
We do get one look from her at the VERY end of the episode, where it seems like she’s finally second-guessing the situation. But even then… it’s like Crosshair was tortured to the point of unconsciousness — probably for hours. And then Emerie actually assists Hemlock in continuing to torture Crosshair with a higher dosage…
Idk. I think she needed to do more on-screen to make up for all her mistakes than help Echo sneak around Tantiss and get the Vault kids to safety. I realize she acknowledged on screen she needs to do more to atone for all she’s done, but I wanted to see it…
I think she either should’ve been a spy from the beginning, or she should’ve “turned good” much earlier than the very end of Episode 14 out of 15.
As I said, I’m glad she came to her senses and helped when she did, but rewatching 2.14 is so hard bc it’s like “Emerie, what are you doing?!?!”
(EDIT: I do wonder whether she had an inhibitor chip, and whether it activated like the other clones’ did. That could explain why it took so long for her to “wake up” to what was going on, just like Rex talks about in S2.)
Hear me out:
It can be super frustrating to watch Emerie be complicit in the imprisonment and experimentation and torture of clones, having a change of heart only when she finds out there are kids in the basement (kids who, frankly, are being treated quite well relative to the other prisoners).
But what I find so fascinating about this plot point is that it is SO REALISTIC.
Even those of us who staunchly assert that there are lines that should never be crossed in how people are treated may find ourselves agreeing with the justifications for the treatment certain people - especially prisoners - receive, depending on what we know their crimes to be.
Imagine Emerie's point of view based on what she had been told of the prisoners. Maybe she only knew them as soldiers who had been court-martialed and sentenced to imprisonment for insubordination. But it's likely she had heard more details - through the lens of the Empire, of course - of what their insubordination entailed: Terrorists took over a planet's government when he disobeyed orders. This other clone betrayed his squad and they all died. That one over there went rogue and children died in the crossfire. He consorted with traitors. He blew up a civilian target. He murdered civilians when they couldn't provide intel. He shot his commanding officer in the face in an unprovoked attack.
We see early on that Emerie was bothered by Hemlock referring to Omega as "property." But I am sure that when it came to the adult, battle-hardened soldiers she saw every day, the atrocities she had likely been told they'd committed provided enough superficial justification for their imprisonment and treatment that she didn't bother thinking more deeply about the moral implications of what she was doing. (And besides, if some of the clones would just cooperate, it would be easier on them - they're just making it harder on themselves.)
But then she's confronted with children. Children who aren't soldiers. Children who hadn't committed any of the crimes that provide "justification" for the other clones being imprisoned on Tantiss. Children who are far too young to have done anything to warrant imprisonment (and lest there be ANY doubt about this - some children have been known to show dangerous tendencies, after all - Cad Bane promptly drops off a baby).
The children are what forcibly open Emerie's eyes to see that the experiments on Tantiss aren't limited to subjects who might "deserve" such treatment. And if some subjects don't deserve it... maybe none of them do. Maybe everything she's been doing - including with the adult prisoners - HAS been wrong.
