Ok hi, I didn't wanna say anything, but please don't write knifeplay/bloodplay for Yuri. I def don't wanna spoil anything, but it's learned on a certain route that Yuri has a s*lf h*rm problem (I'll leave it at that).
You honestly seem like you're not trying to be a jerk with this ask, so I'm going to do my best to answer this as politely as possible without compromising my personal beliefs on the matter. This is going to be long and a little serious, but please note I'm not attacking you or trying to start a debate. I'm just laying all my thoughts on this down at once so I make myself clear, because a short answer would leave a lot of nuance out.
I understand what you're trying to do here. For the record though, I also considered that a pretty massive spoiler and I did not appreciate that at all. Even if you all think you're 'helping', don't do that again. Y/uri was pretty much the only character I'd managed to avoid most spoilers on and you killed the surprise for me. This game is already so full of fluffy 'filler' in the beginning that I don't have a ton of big plot points to look forward to in each route.
Now, I realise this is a very delicate topic and incredibly triggering to some people, especially with those two things combined. I am 100% willing to tag it with just about any variation needed to ensure you or others affected can blacklist/block it and never have to see a word of it in the future. I'd also be happy to go back and tag that original text post I made if needed. I mean that. You all are welcome to ask me to tag things anytime, and so long as you're polite about it I'm perfectly willing to oblige to the best of my ability in future posts! If I occasionally forget, just toss me a light reminder and I'll jump into editing and add it in.
That said, I want to make it clear that I am very firmly against censorship. I'm willing to take all necessary precautions to ensure people can curate their experiences on this blog and AO3, but at the end of the day I can still post whatever fictional stuff I choose to. As can anyone else. Same goes for more formally published media.
Now, it's entirely possible I would have gotten to that part of the game and decided 'oh dang, I'm not so enthused about that fic idea anymore...'. My whims and ideas change frequently, and what you mentioned is a heavy topic with a lot to unpack and process. It's also entirely possible that future plot would only provide more fuel.
Fyi, when I originally mentioned the knifeplay I was actually thinking a lot more along the lines of her doing it to the protagonist, not the reverse. But for the record, if I did choose to write it with focus on Y/uri, I would still be well within my rights to.
This next part of my answer is going to address some heavy topics, this is your warning!!!
Sometimes people's kinks are a way to take a thing that is personally scary or upsetting to them and find a way to reverse it. To find pleasure or power or get used to the idea of the awful thing in a safe, controlled fashion. I'm not going to go into the full details on this because there's plenty of explanation and research elsewhere already written up, as well as an excellent book on the subject, and I'm not turning this blog into a discourse debate. But I needed to mention it for my point.
There are plenty of stories that could be explored with Y/uri in this context. Did she have this kink before the self harm events started and it was completely unrelated, or did she develop it afterwards? How did she discover it beforehand? If developed afterwards, did it start out as another way of harming mixed with pleasure in a self-destructive way, often done sloppily and without proper technique? Or was it strictly used as almost exposure therapy to deal with those urges and thoughts in a safer, more contained scenario, maybe even allowing the partner she trusted to wield the knife to prove their bond/reinforce that she can be loved without being hurt deeply, that she is worthy of affection and trust and loyalty. Maybe this finally helps give Y/uri a tool to embrace her 'weirdness' without harming herself and others. Or, what if she thinks it can be a useful tool and is sure she's ready, but partway through the scene she gets triggered or has flashbacks... how does she deal with it? How does her partner? Can it be overcome with effort, research, and taking things slowly, or does she realize this kink is actually completely off the table for her?
What if she has this kink and is excited to try it, but her partner isn't? How does she take that rejection? Or do her poor social skills mean she skipped negotiation to begin with and attempted it in the middle of a vanilla session? Would her partner freak out or even get mad, or try to swallow their fear and let her do it so they don't hurt/offend her, even at the cost of their own comfort?
This topic also opens a ton of potential plots for darkfic, but I'll refrain from discussing that out of respect for you and others.
So as you can see, there's much more to explore than 'Knife=Hot'. I believe those discussions and ideas are necessary and provide important fuel for thought when explored fictionally, especially since mainstream media doesn't cover a lot of them.
~~~
I feel I should take a second to clarify knifeplay for those who may be unaware. It doesn't always equate to actual cutting/drawing blood. That can be an aspect, but usually only by those far more experienced and, you know, actually into that. A lot of participants don't actually go that far. Mostly, it's either about the physical sensation of the knife touching you at all, or the adrenaline/controlled fear and intimate trust of a partner bringing an object like that so close/teasing you with it.
In fact, it's frequently advised in those circles (especially to newcomers) to use a dull butterknife instead, because it simulates the same feelings of metal on skin/can dig in a little without any real risk of cutting/drawing blood. Even if one chooses to use a different knife, it's still pretty common to dull the blade, or some people even substitute with a closed pair of scissors (combined with the partner blindfolded, you can't really tell it apart from the real thing).
These versions of knifeplay are well controlled and ultimately pretty harmless, so long as both parties know what they're doing and stay alert. And more experienced players with sharper knives are even more cautious/have studied extensively to know where/how deep to go without risking scarring/serious injury.
Remember the golden rules of kink: Safe. Sane. Consensual.
With those in place, it is not nearly the same as self harm. Just as controlled, consensual, well-negotiated BDSM with safewords, respected boundaries and a trusted partner is never in the same league as abuse.
~~~
Now that that's out of the way, back to my point:
There's no perfect representation or narrative for everyone, in any group (be that gender/sexuality/triggered by certain things, etc). Every human being is different, everyone interprets media differently, and everyone takes away different elements from stories.
What one person in a particular group may find cathartic, relateable, or painful but necessary food for thought, another may find completely repulsive, personally hurtful, offensive, something they can't stand to hear. And guess what? Both of those can be true at the same time. One side is not immediately right over the other.
There are queer characters or interpretations of them in fics that I vehemently despise, might even find hurtful or sickening and think 'how can anyone create this, it's insufferable! People in 'my group' aren't like that, it's a horrible representation. I can't relate to it at all!' But you know what? Other people can and do, may find comfort in those exact narratives and experiences, may heal their pain instead of inflicting more. And that's great. It's what they needed or wanted and if I don't like it, I click away and do my best to avoid it.
There are specific tropes and narrative themes I personally cannot get through without being triggered into anxiety attacks or dragged back to bad times and places in my life. Sometimes I see them tackled in ways that are hurtful or seem insensitive to me. But I recognise that for someone else, it's exactly what they needed to see to get through that or come to terms with it, or see a way they wish that thing could play out. I would never dream of telling those people they aren't allowed to enjoy it, OR telling the creator of that piece of media or a tv show 'Hey ummm please don't use this plot because it turns me into a human wreck for a week'. Because it's not remotely my place to do so. They can create whatever they want, they have no responsibility towards me or my well being. A few might be kind enough to include a warning at the beginning of that episode or in the description, but they are in no way required to. It's up to me to curate my experience and try to keep my guard up/research what might have those tropes, and in the rare occasions I get blindsided, yeah, it hurts like hell. I struggle, I might even backslide a bit. But I just have to try my best to deal with it and make a note to be more careful next time. Because you can't control the world around you, not even the online world, and you have absolutely no right to. The only right you have is to protect yourself without infringing on other people's boundaries/rights.
And there's also another important point. There doesn't have to be a big important point or explanation for why a creator creates something, or why consumers can enjoy that creation! If someone wants to create a plotline with all of my triggers used in the most 'insensitive', 'wrong', pointless ways possible, strictly for Entertainment or pure kink material instead of some deep dissection of the issues involved? They can go hog wild!!! They are 100% allowed to do so on this earth, and I can't (and wouldn't want to) do a thing to stop them.
One person can read a kink fic and it hits a very emotional theme for them/they think it explores a deep topic well. Another person can read that same fic and get nothing out of it except their rocks off. Both of those readers are completely equal and 'allowed' to enjoy that fic. Both reasons are completely valid reasons for why the creator was 'allowed' to post/create that fic in the first place. Nobody needs permission, nobody has to answer to anybody except themselves. Period. This extends to any topic, any type of fic.
Yes, even for things I find absolutely abhorrent and insensitive and don't understand/want to read ever. I may resent everything about its existence, but I will defend to death the creator's right to make it exist in the first place.
It only affects me if I let it affect me. If someone's making content I despise or am upset by and can't handle, I can choose to ignore or avoid them, blacklist those tags, I can block them and move on with my day. I can do anything within my own bubble, but the second I consider going into their bubble and saying they can't make that thing, I am in the wrong. Because I'm not respecting their space and rights.
If someone makes cookies with ingredients I'm highly allergic to, pastes the ingredient warnings all over the box where I read them, and I still eat one, would anyone cheer me on for blaming them when I have a reaction? Would anyone think it was remotely okay of me to start calling up every bakery in town and saying they weren't allowed to bake those cookies EVER, because some people somewhere might be allergic?
No. They'd tell me I was crossing the line, because I'm infringing on other people's boundaries and lives. I'm expecting everybody else to take responsibility for something that, while horrible and painful, was my fault for touching.
Now, if someone sets out unlabelled cookies not realizing I'm allergic to something in them, and I eat it and have a reaction, that sucks. It's an awful experience. But is it the baker's fault? As long as they didn't do it maliciously, not really. They can be advised politely to label it in the future, and I can do my best to remember to ask/be more cautious next time I come across something I'm unsure of, but they're still allowed to bake those cookies for themselves and others.
Now, if I deliberately baked cookies with an ingredient that people are very frequently allergic to (ex. peanuts) and set it out in a crowded buffet without a warning label, that's a jerk move. That's intentionally trying to cause harm to others. But simply baking that flavour of cookies still isn't a crime or harmful by itself.
~~~
I'll be honest, I'm running out of steam and I think I've said most of what I have to say, so I'll wrap it up. I want to reiterate that I'm not ripping into you with this long answer, anon! I understand why you sent me what you did and I'm trying not to come off as harsh. I'm happy to go back and tag things and will tag anything else similar in the future!!! But at the end of the day, regardless of whether I personally end up writing that fic or not, or even want to after I get to that plot, I don't agree with telling anyone they can't/shouldn't write it at all. I wanted to try and explain my viewpoint thoroughly, and I hope you can respect that, just as I'll respect and try to accommodate you and other followers. This is the only time I'll really get up on a soapbox like this, and I have no interest in debating these things on my blog further, but it is a topic I've been passionate about all my life so I'm afraid I'm not budging on it.
I was bored and going through my wips. Found some quality lines that might make no sense without context.
So you sit on the train, and wait for the stop at Yogen-Jaya to arrive. There’s only one question on your mind.
Who were you?
-A Persona 5 thing that was based around the idea of “What would happen if you started a NG+ file with corrupted data?”. The end result, for some fucking reason, is a BOTW-inspired retelling of Persona 5, complete with memory loss.
All right guys, we’ll start from the beginning.
My name in Ren Amamiya, I come from 2018 Japan, and I did get bitten by a radioactive spider.
And, for the past year or so, I have been the one, and only Spider-Man.
(Now, I know what you’re all probably thinking. “But Ren, what about Peter Parker? Isn’t he Spider-Man?” Which I respond with “Multiverse Theory.” That probably doesn’t explain anything but oh well.)
So I saved the city, busted some drug rings, saved the city again, blah, blah, blah you know how it goes.
Then, when I was walking home from cram school, not as Spider-Man but as measly little Ren Amamiya who cried about seahorse documentaries, I notice something.
-Another Persona 5 thing, this time inspired because I watched Spiderman: Into the Spider-Verse and I went completely hog wild before running out of steam.
Izuku Midoriya sits in his chair, a pair of mint green headphones on his ears with a microphone in front of him. Behind him, there’s a few posters of several game characters, but some of several heroes as well, the largest being an image of All Might, with the text “I AM HERE” in big block letters.
However, that’s only the camera footage that sits in the corner of the screen, out of the way from the real action happening on the main screen.
The game in question is a round of Overwatch, and Izuku is absolutely carrying his own team. He’s playing the gamer and mech pilot D.va, and currently has the highest objective time and third highest eliminations, right after the team’s Genji and McCree.
In the stream chat, there is an evermoving wall of text, most saying things about the game,
- A BNHA thing about, apparently, making Izuku a streamer. No idea where this even came from.
“Wow, you’re a worst detective than I thought! And here I thought there might be someone who can match my intellect!” a voice calls out, and eyes turn to the person at the back, who is wearing a brown hat and cape, black hair framing a face that hold closed eyes, an easy smile gracing his face as he holds a half-empty ramune bottle in one hand.
“I mean, it probably wasn’t fair anyway. I am the best detective in Japan, maybe even the world.” The man says, eyes opening just a bit to show intelligent green eyes.
“And, who might you be?” Akechi asks, smiling. Ren looks at the man behind his glasses, narrowing his eyes.
“I’m Rampo Edogawa.” The man introduces himself. Behind him, a man with blonde hair tied back into a ponytail is reading a notebook. “This is Doppo Kunikida, my partner for this case.” Rampo says, gesturing to him.
- A BSD and Persona 5 fusion, where all I wanted to do was have an excuse for Ranpo to meet Akechi and drag him through the mud. Good times.
She’s looking at him like she’s found someone important.
The boy looks up at the woman on the wall, and asks “Who are you?”
The woman smiles, and says “I’m Atsuko, what’s yours?”
The boy looks at her, and he says “I’m Atsushi Nakajima!”
The woman looks him over, and says “So, Sheikah Kid, want to tell me why you’re outside in the rain?”
Atsushi grins and says “Well…”
- A BSD and LoZ fusion, where Atsushi is part of the Sheikah tribe. I honestly have no idea where this one is going.
The Law of Cycles demands that a cycle of life and death is kept, that despair cannot triumph over hope, that the scales shall not tip. But when half of the universe is killed, the scales begin to drop on one side. Madoka Kaname watches from her plane of existence, and frowns as she watches more and more despair crop up from the ashes, as the Witch of Salvation draws near.
A grinning god, one that controls the Laws of Equivalent Exchange, demands that the price of power be met. The Infinity Stones are not Philosopher Stones after all (Except, perhaps, the Soul Stone, but even then, that is a dubious theory). There is a demand that must be met. The Truth sits at the gate, grinning, for his dues shall be paid.
-Something I wrote after watching Avengers: Infinity War. The document title is literally “spite shall fuel me.”
And so, with the social tact of a squirrel, and the mentality of a toucan, he goes “So wait, which one of you is Markus?”
A dark-skinned fella (why fella, why did he call him fella that weird) in a trench coat blinks and says “I’m Markus.”
Lukas studies his face for a moment, sees a blue eye and a green eye, and, again with the social tact of a squirrel, says “You look like one of those bad ass anime characters that have the different coloured eyes. Bet you’re gonna say ‘It’s time to duel’ or something, and I’ll agree, and I’ll lose, and you’ll say something like ‘You’re a third-rate duellist with a fourth-rate deck.’ Or something like that.”
Markus blinks again and says “No. I wouldn’t.”
Lukas goes “Oh.” And then wisely keeps his mouth shut.
-A OC-centric story for Detroit: Become Human. Looks like it was written on a whim and the OC itself reads like a self-insert. youch.
Making Remilia Scarlet EDH
Tumblr media
Here's a little thing for Touhou fans and Magic players alike; the first in a series of Commander/EDH decks inspired by and based around Touhou characters.
Because there’s no shortage of western vampires in Magic, making a deck themed around Remilia becomes less of a chore of finding cards that match but shortening the list. I also figured the first final boss of the Windows series would make a nice proof of concept for this blog.
If this is relevant to your interests, or if you want to share some of your own ideas, let me know and maybe I’ll reblog them here!
Without further ado, vv
Choosing Remilia’s Color
This is the first most important thing when we want to make a deck themed after a character. For these breakdowns I’m going to be describing the individual traits of each character for each color to better explain why I picked the colors I did. Matching with a legendary creature card surely has to come after this, right?
White: Remilia has a little white. It’s definitely not her primary color, but she likes to think that she carries herself with a sense of dignity and restraint that you wouldn’t necessarily respect from a rabid youkai. While she does tend to play dirty in battle, the little bit of white in her is what keeps her in good sportsmanship and relative coexistence with the other characters.
Blue: Remilia isn’t very blue. While she has been known to commit to long-term planning (for example, planning her conquest of the moon), most of these are the result of short-term ego trips. In fact, her short attention span has even been made a point several times throughout the story. Most of the big thinking in the Scarlet Devil Mansion is left to Patchouli.
Black: Remilia is pretty black. She is self-absorbed, believes that strongest is best, and by virtue of her lineage finds no qualms in draining the life of others to sustain herself. Vampires are a natural fit for black anyway.
Red: Remilia is fairly red. She is impulsive, incredibly violent in fighting, and lives based on her own whims and preferences. This isn’t just to the extent of selfishness, but even in her sympathetic characteristics, such as randomly sparing human lives and wishing for Sakuya’s emotional wellbeing. This sense of fickleness in what she want also reflects her ability to control fate.
Green: Remilia has little to no green in her. As an undead being, she is an opponent to the natural cycle of life. Furthermore, she went as far as to try and control the weather itself for her own leisure. She doesn’t believe in any gods and has no respect for any entity or concept beyond herself.
Result: Remilia fits snugly in Mardu (Red/Black/White). If I wanted to, I could probably cut the White to make her a simple Rakdos character, and use a commander like Olivia Voldaren, but while that is thematically awesome I don’t think it would have been true to how she as a character acts in battle.
Tumblr media
COMMANDER: Licia, Sanguine Tribune
For an efficient Mardu vampires deck, you really need look no further than Edgar Markov, but what we’re trying to create here is a deck that matches Remilia’s battle strategy.
High speed scarlet. Showing her power straightforwardly without any cheap tricks. In fact she's more of the physical type than magic type, dominating everyone with her superior physical strength. Melee trumps Danmaku.
Imperishable Night spell card comments
Licia is a suitable commander for a life-drainy, battlecruiser magic-y aggressive deck focused on picking one person and making them die as much as possible.
Tumblr media
Next we need to think about what Remilia can do and what capabilities we’d like reflected in the cards. The plan with this deck is to just create Remilia, and as a result there will be no stand-in cards for characters like Sakuya and Flandre. It’s to my preference that each character will get their own deck just to themselves, except in the case of characters who are partners.
Vampirism: We want the deck to be full of life gain and life drain abilities. Life, in this deck, should be spent freely - we are talking about someone who fights with blood, after all.
Gosh, blood is so amazing.
-Marisa Kirisame
Tumblr media
As for Sanguine Bond, I would personally prefer to leave that one out while using Exquisite Blood. If instantly winning the game with an infinite combo is for you, feel free to go hog wild when brewing a deck like this, but I think it’s kind of a ‘pick one or the other’ when talking about casual magic, and of the two of them Blood is better for quickly getting Licia out into play, where you want her to be.
We also want to have some Vampire creatures; not to the point where it’s a full-on Vampire tribal deck, but so that we have some creatures to act as stand-ins for Remilia if Licia is out of commission or until we can get her into play.
Tumblr media
Sprucing the tribal theme up with maybe a few Sorins, a Stromkirk Captain and the like is up to you.
Summon Gungnir: Remilia is famous for randomly being able to summon Odin’s mythical weapon Gungnir, which cannot miss. We should throw in a few cards to represent this capability.
Tumblr media
Those second two bring us to another theme of this deck, which will be Auras. Yes, auras have inherent card disadvantage, but we’re making Remilia here, not a smart vampire.
Tumblr media
We want to have lots of auras and buffs we can slap onto Licia immediately once she hits the board and a few tricks to try and negate the consequences of her ultimately death and subsequent loss of all these cards. You might want to throw in an Umbra Mystic, or Replenish if relying on good ol’ Lightning Greaves doesn’t feel safe enough.
Manipulating mist: So let’s also make reference to the titular power of the Scarlet Mist Incident, Remilia’s penchant for distributing thinly spread blood or whatever other kind of supernatural fog it is.
Tumblr media
While these are a little on the weak side, they are generally useful and accrue a lot of value for you over the long run. If you want to go for a more extreme route, there are some very striking choices you can make for a punishing, simplistic ‘My commander is the only thing I have and she hits you’ type strategy.
Tumblr media
Manipulation of fate: Make sure to throw in Whims of the Fates. Nah, just joking. Can you imagine, though?
It is not sure whether or not she is using her ability to manipulate fate consciously, but it is said misfortune will befall those who are merely in her vicinity, and she can cause great change in the state of the daily lives of others with but a word. For example, becoming more likely to encounter rare things.
Perfect Memento in Strict sense
So, rather than a splashy effect like Whims or even Wheel of Fortune-type effects that wouldn’t benefit us that much, we want to have spells that ever-so-subtly turn things in our favor, maybe even over the long-term plan of the game.
Tumblr media
More vampire fun: Non-categorical vampire weirdness, like bats and turning to ash in the daylight.
Tumblr media
Commander commonsense: When making a deck with a lot of incongruent themes like this, you have to compromise between making the character stand out and making those cards function with one another (without breaking the illusion). So although these cards aren’t total flavor successes, they nonetheless glue the whole mess together;
Tumblr media
Phyrexian Altar: These sacrifice effects are always useful, and I think for an awkwardly colored deck like this Phyrexian Altar is more powerful than Ashnod’s Altar, but TheMagicManSam even made a video which details pretty well how unconditionally useful having this ability just sitting out there is.
By Force: This is a very, very suitable and useful card in these colors.
Whip of Erebos: One of the best and most reliable ‘your team has lifelink’ cards ever printed. Just having this on the battlefield will extend your life when on the defensive for several turns.
Proper Burial: Makes sacrificing into Licia extremely easy.
Vampiric Tutor: You just need this, especially if you’re going for the Blood Moon route. It helps that the name fits!
Torpor Orb: It just so happens that there are very few enters-the-battlefield abilities in the cards I put together for this deck, so Torpor Orb should be run as a hoser for a good 50% of your opponents.
Lands
When creating the landbase for this deck, you just have to remember...
Tumblr media
...which is to say, if you’re running Blood Moon, just be careful about how many nonbasics you’re throwing in there just out of courtesy. But in general, I think there are some that this deck always prefers to have, such as Command Tower, lands in the Bloodfell Caves cycle, Cavern of Souls if your budget is crazy enough to allow it, and Rogue’s Passage to allow Licia to hit for the win.
Decklist
Here’s a highly unrefined decklist made from the above suggestions. This kind of deck only gets better with thorough testing; but then again, when making a theme deck, you’ve got to have a little leeway for cards for you to express the character and not for you to always seize the win.
If you want to ante up and make a better deck for Remilia or even using these suggestions, be sure to share them!
FORTY FUCKING SEVEN
47) Do you have any f/f or m/m ships?
Funny you should ask Alicia....
Tumblr media
I’m gonna section this off because like Organisation.
F/F:
Right, first off, if they’re not related, and they’re ladies....assume I ship them in some capacity okay. But my faves...
ToG:
Manon/Elide: my main ladies forever lowkey sad/bitter that they aren’t canon. QoS is still the gayest thing I’ve ever witnessed in my entire life okay. The tower rescue scene was...everything. And Abraxos loves her too??? And so does Asterin? And they both drive so much of each other’s character development and fulfil so many of each other’s needs and I just *never stops screaming about malide*
Aelin/Manon: I feel like this should be self-explanatory like...u did witness that one scene in QoS did you not???  You know the one.
Aelin/Lysandra: also...self-explanatory.
Lysandra/Nesryn: LOOK THIS ONE IS REALLY ADORABLE OKAY??? and there’s fanart for it that’s forever branded into my mind because it too is adorable. Like there’s that one scene in QoS where Nesryn escorts Lys home and looks after her and I’m just like...yep that’ll do. But also it’d be cute?? Lysandra dressing Nesryn up in all these really fancy dresses and Nesryn just being -_- but doing it anyway because it makes Lys happy. Lys watching Nesryn train and just...drooling a little bit. Ladies being SO SUPPORTIVE OF THE OTHERS WANTS AND NEEDS THERE IS NO JUDGEMENT THERE IS ONLY SUPPORT. and really good sex.
mmm those are my main ToG ones (I’m probably missing sixteen different things but anyways)
ACOTAR:
ehehehhehe *rubs hands together with glee*
Mor/Nesta: tbh if you’ve been following me for any length of time and you don’t know I’m trash for this ship...well how??? I’ve written like...bucketloads of sin for them I mean? Also like, speaking of that sin this ship started as a vague hmm okay this might be kinda fun musing and turned into....domestic wives. because like..if you don’t need domestic, happily married mesta in your life then you’re doing it wrong okay you just are. they’re beautiful. tiny fierce hellcat and her court of nightmares princess it’s LITERALLY EVERYTHING. They balance each other out really well too? Mor’s composed fire and Nesta’s wild ice. But they both have a lot in common too? I think they’re actually both pretty reserved, for all that Mor wears her heart on her sleeve that doesn’t mean she lets anyone know her or truly lets them in or trust them. And Nesta is trapped behind a bigger wall of ice than Jon Snow and I just *sobs* love them opening up to one another and trusting one another and just fiercely defending the other against any man who dares look at them the wrong way. Also really hot sex. Like that’s just a given.
Mor/Elain: this one is @pterodactylichexameter‘s fault (most of these are your fault too, you know this Alicia) and it’s one of those things I just...enjoy any which way really? I just like them spending time together it’s really sweet? They just get on, there’s no drama, there’s no upset everything is just happy and mellow and nice and it’s lovely. (Except for when Elain ties Mor up in bed but you know, that’s a different story. Ahem) Please imagine morain as roommates though (Alicia this one’s your fault too) and sleepy Elain, hopeless gardener Mor (really, she’s terrible, Elain despairs) and holding hands and lazy morning sex, and colour-coordinated outfits okay. And giggly slow-dancing at Rita’s and eskimo kisses and just THEY’RE DRIPPING WITH SWEETNESS YET SOMEHOW I ALWAYS WANT MORE. (bonus consideration: Mor/Lucien/Elain ot3. Because. Mhm. I have many ot3s. Except more bonuses. They’re great fun.)
Mor/Feyre: what you should be getting from this so far is that Mor is bi af. Ahem, for the most part I will admit that I sorta prefer this one as platonic actually? They have...such a deep meaningful friendship and it’s beautiful? but at the same time I just cannot ignore the fact that the first time Feyre sees Mor she just....yep, this is Rhys’s female equivalent in the looks department....Not your most heterosexual thought ever, Feyre darling.
Listen, there aren’t enough non-related ladies in this thing for me to happily ship it’s very upsetting. (ie we’re now moving on to the dudes)
M/M:
ToG:
Chaol/Aedion: Look, I can’t re-read HoF and not ship Chaol and Aedion I just can’t. (Also they’re both bi af so that helps) but it just. look HoF does all my explaining for me just like re-read it with a Chaedion lens, you’ll have a lot more fun I promise.
Rowan/Gavriel: listen, my first thought when Gavriel appeared (and Aelin’s first thought too god bless you child) was: okay so this is gay. I never quite got over that. Also I refuse to believe that these two were like...emotionally and dramatically tattooing each other for the past century, half naked, in a small space with one another and things never got steamy I just don’t okay. I’m not letting go of this hc. You can’t make me.
...this is apparently all I can think of for ToG. Which is sad. I need to pull up my ship socks. Moving on.
ACOTAR:
oh boy...brace yourselves.
Lucien/Andras: my boys, my sweet boys, my prince, my sentry, my fox, my wolf, MY SONS. I’ve waffled about these two before but they just have...a truly wonderful dynamic. Because Andras in all his chill, affable, unflappable, loyal, wondrous glory is the only one who can deal with Lucien when he is young...and even more of a little prick than he is currently. And they’re dripping in angst which appeals to me as well (why do I always get attached to ships that are literally dead before we even meet them....Don’t answer that I know why) we could be here for some time if I go into details so I will just..move on. (Also, please read the scene where Lucien finds out Andras is dead with the idea that he was secretly in love with him...makes everything ten times more painful and make much more sense) (double bonus: please consider the world’s most pure and adorable ot3: Lucien/Elain/Andras)
Lucien/Rhys: hehehehehhe I love this ship. I’ve lowkey loved this ship There’s just...nothing heterosexual about their first scene together in ACOTAR. Nothing. At all. And these two have a History with one another. Also it’s just like snark to the power of twenty. really hot sex. and angst. what’s not to like??? (mega double bonus points: Feyre/Rhys/Lucien....don’t....get me started...on that ship. just. don’t. just take my word for it that it’s MAGICAL)
Lucien/Tarquin: shout out to @valamerys she gets full credit for this one I’m just putting it on here because I really like it toooo.
Bonus OT3s:
because this is where the real magic happens let’s be honest. I’m just going to mash all of these together.
Chaol/Nesryn/Dorian: I don’t really ship Chaol and Dorian on their own (romantically) as it happens. But fling a little Nesryn in there and I’m sold. Just...the image of Nesryn having these two boys wrapped around her little finger is...too delicious not to ship.
Mor/Dorian/Azriel: (Alicia’s fault tooooo...just assume everything from here on out is Alicia’s fault. also if you haven’t read Alicia’s doriel fic a)- you have not lived b)-do that now) Dorian would 10000% fall into a foreign kingdom, find the two hottest people around and proceed to have incredible sex with them this thing writes itself tbh.
Lucien/Aedion/Elain: this is like the mother of all cross-over ships okay. (And mine and Alicia’s favourite child. you shouldn’t have favourites. but we do) Elain with these two towering males attending to her every want and whim is...something special. And Aedion and Lucien have enough fire themselves to be able to handle the other. And they just work...incredibly well when you write them, they flow very nicely. Bit more emotional than doriel toooo these three would definitely set up house together and go the whole hog of just becoming a happy little poly amorous unit. This mostly consists of Elain bossing the two of them around and them waiting on her hand and foot and being delighted to do this.
Lucien/Andras/Elain: look I’m aware I already mentioned this lot but they are Special and they needed to be mentioned again okay. Andras is gay af but that isn’t stopping them, he and Elain still very much love each other and work together very well (they’re a nice little....moment of peace amidst the chaotic hurricane that being with Lucien always is. they take nice quiet walks around the gardens...and Elain enjoys sitting with wolf!Andras to watch over her while she reads outside) And the three of them together just balance and work so well??? it’s beautiful and just THEY’RE SO PURE. THE PUREST OF PURE. *starts sobbing over the twenty ‘Andras lives’ AUs we have so far composed*
...I think I’m going to end on that beautiful, pure note. there is no topping Elandras.
Smutswap: Dear Creator
Dear Creater,
Thank you for writing / arting for me in this exchange! I had a great time with Smutswap last time around and I expect it’ll be just as fun this time.
The goal of this letter is to inspire you and unleash your creativity, not to bog you down with a million rules or make you afraid you’ll disappoint me. One of my favorite parts of writing in exchanges like this is that the prompts push me to write things I’d never thought of before, and I hope this letter will do the same for you.
Fandoms:
The Good Place (Eleanor/Tahani, Eleanor/Janet, Jason/Janet)
Leverage (Parker/Hardison/Eliot)
Rivers of London (Peter/Beverly, Peter/Nightingale)
Star Trek AOS (Kirk/Spock, Uhura/Gaila)
Things I generally like in smut are snark and humor; exploration and mutual discovery; creativity; sex toys; consensual power dynamics, weird sex enabled by magic, technology, and/or aliens; and coming up against hangups, problems, or differences between sex partners and finding a way around them.
Things I generally dislike are non-consent, dubious consent, jealousy / possessiveness, excessive pining, incest, mundane AUs, ageplay, and kinking on bodily fluids (they can be present, just don’t make them the erotic focus.)
The Good Place
(Eleanor/Tahani, Eleanor/Janet, Jason/Janet)
I love this show’s humor, and I especially loved the season finale. I adore the concept that these characters are being used to torture each other for eternity, and that they may go through an endless series of Groundhog Day loops at a demon’s whim. Definitely feel free to set your work in the Season 1 loop or in a future loop of “The Good Place.”
Eleanor’s latent bisexuality is a big draw for me, and I’d love to see her explore it with Tahani or Janet. I can see her sleeping with either of them on a whim and then eventually coming to regret the repercussions.
Jason and Janet are just hilarious and I really want to see them incompetently exploring sexuality together.
Artificial Intelligence Sex: I love how inhuman Janet is, despite her appearance. What is it like for her to have sex? I’d love to see something from her POV, with an emphasis on the AI weirdness. Does she have to look up sex and anatomy in her databases?
Banter as Foreplay / Banter While in Bed: This show is hilarious. Go ahead and take that humor into your fanwork. All of these characters would crack jokes and argue and say silly things before and during sex.
Body admiration: Eleanor is so, so hot for Tahani’s rockin’ bod.
First time with a woman: For Eleanor and Tahani.
First Time / Loss of Virginity: For Janet. She clearly doesn’t know the first thing about human sexuality, and Eleanor and Jason are not the best guides. Does she ever figure it out?
Sex Magic: It’s the Good(/Bad) Place! Anything is possible, especially with Janet around. Bring on the flying dildos.
Shame in Sexual Desires / Unexpected Arousal: This has to do with the Bad Place aspect. I like the idea of these characters having sex even though they know they might fork everything up because of it.
Leverage
(Parker/Hardison/Eliot)
My darlings! I ship these three so much. They love and support each other so much, and they have so much fun together, and they have a kind of easy physicality bordering on total in-sync body empathy that all lends itself to great smut. Not to mention they trust each other enough that I think they’d feel comfortable really pushing the limits in bed.
Banter While in Bed
BDSM
Competence Kink
Aftercare
Femdom: Parker is the mastermind! Maybe she’s the mastermind in bed too ;)
Gentle Dom: I love the idea of these three doing dom / sub play but in a really supportive way. “C’mon, babe, you can do this, I know you can take it...”
Kink Exploration / Limit Testing: Parker, Hardison, and Eliot really really trust each other. I think they might try things in bed together that they’ve never tried with anyone else. I’d love to see them pushing each other to their limits, knowing they’ll catch each other if they fall. They could try going really deep into roleplay / subspace, or playing with a lot of discipline or restriction or pain.
Manhandling / Shows of Athleticism During Sex: This is perfect for Parker or Eliot. Eliot could carry the others or hold them down or throw them around, and Parker could do all kinds of ceiling-hanging bendy stuff!
Playful Sex
Roleplay: I especially like the idea of these three having sex right after they’ve done a grift and keeping the roles they played in the con.
Petplay: I am in love with anything involving Eliot being Parker and Hardison’s loyal and beloved pet.
Sex Toys: Hardison loves gadgets. There is no way he doesn’t have an extensive sex toy collection. I bet he’d make them custom if no store had what he wanted.
Service Submission: I see Eliot being very into this, what with the cooking his feelings for the team and taking hits for the team because he feels it’s his duty.
Switching: The trio’s roles are often very fluid when they work together, and I think they’d be the same way in bed.
Rivers of London
(Peter/Beverly, Peter/Nightingale)
The two most important people in Peter’s life (besides his parents) are immortal and immensely magically powerful beings, but he treats them just like regular people – just Nightingale, just Bev. At the same time, though, he is totally fascinated by their magic. That is why I love Peter so much, and why his relationships with these powerful magical immortals intrigue me.
To be clear, I ship Peter with both Bev and Nightingale, so I’m totally open to polyamory if you want to include both ships. I read Nightingale as 100% gay, though, so I would see this as V-shaped polyamory rather than a triad.
Adult Fairy Tale
Affirmative Consent Play: So much of the sexuality in this series is colored by the fact that there are so many magical forms of glamor and compulsion – not to mention that Nightingale is Peter’s boss. So I'd love it if the person with power over Peter makes it very clear that the sex is enthusiastically consensual and makes him explicitly say "yes" to everything.
Competence Kink: Peter clearly kinks on both Bev’s and Nightingale’s competence, but Peter is no slouch himself, so maybe his partner gets turned on by his magiscientific prowess!
Power Dynamics, Experienced/Inexperienced: Like I said, both Nightingale and Beverley have a lot of power over Peter, Nightingale because he's so much older and a powerful magician, and Beverley because she's a river spirit. But I think Peter loves that about both of them. So show me sex where Nightingale or Beverley shows off their power and experience and Peter is totally into it.
Open Relationships
Banter as Foreplay: Peter is a snarkmaster and I love that about him.
Character study through porn
Gentle Dom: I’d prefer Peter as the sub for this.
Kinky Sex Saves the Day / Ritual Sex: This is absolutely a canon where sex can happen for plot reasons. Maybe Peter and Bev need to catalyze another river, or some other kind of kinky sex ritual is needed to save the day?
Suit Kink: For Peter/Nightingale, this is a gimme. Peter loves Nightingale’s suits.
Sex Magic / Sex Toys (Magic): Surely some formae (or Bev’s genius loci powers) can be used to enchant sex toys. Or cast on the fly to make sex particularly interesting.
Star Trek AOS
(Kirk/Spock, Gaila/Uhura)
Hi, my name is Poetry, and I’m hot for sex with aliens. In particular I love ships like these where a human and an alien become snarky friends across a wide cultural divide... and then maybe figure out how to turn that friendship into something else. And I also like the dynamic in AOS of how both of these ships met under the aegis of the university / as students.
I signed up under the AOS fandom, because I’ve seen all three movies, but I’ve seen a handful of TOS episodes so if you want to throw in references to TOS I’m cool with it.
Alternate Universe - Canonical Male Character is Always a Girl: Obviously only applicable to K/S, but I would love to see this ship as femslash! Think of the cultural norms for Vulcan women! Think of how Kirk’s promiscuity and Spock’s endless well of terrifying rage would be perceived! (Also femslash is hot!)
Banter as Foreplay / Banter While in Bed: Obvious for K/S, and I bet Uhura would be no slouch at banter as foreplay either.
Character study through porn
Cultural Differences: My favorite thing in this fandom! We know Vulcans approach relationships and sex differently than humans, and the first movie definitely showed us that Orions have different norms around sex than humans too. You can play this for humor or for serious drama and either way I’ll love it.
Dirty Talk: Would love for either ship but I can especially see Gaila being really shameless about this.
Dom/sub Play: Would prefer dom!Spock and dom!Uhura for this.
Hand & Finger Kink: For K/S this is a gimme. Vulcan kisses <3
Kink Exploration
Language Kink: Would love this for Spock speaking Vulcan, Gaila speaking Orion, and Uhura speaking... well, just about anything. I’m sure she can say “fuck” in a fascinating variety of languages.
Limit Testing
Manhandling / Shows of Athleticism During Sex: I kink really hard on super Vulcan strength, and I bet Kirk would too. We don’t know how strong Orions are from canon, but if you want Gaila to be super-strong too you’ll hear no complaints from me; strong women take my breath away.
Mating Cycles / In Heat: ...this is Star Trek we’re talking about.
Non-Human Genitalia / Xeno: The weirder the better, tbh. Go hog-wild. Make Vulcan or Orion genitalia and sexual responses super different from humans’ and have Kirk or Uhura have tons of fun discovering all those differences.
Playful Sex
Sharing Fantasies
Telepathic Sex
*waves* Thank you for taking the time to read this! Happy smut-creating!
