hiiii again! :)
just wanted to share my thoughts on 'Four Dates to Fall in Love.'
I hope you are doing well ❤️
I loved the start with Chris—how you incorporated him as someone reader can share their feelings with and sort out their thoughts. It adds so much to the story and the characters. Especially when the reader goes on about wanting to keep having fun with Hyunjin but struggles when memories and emotions about the past years come back. I loved how Chan validated both feelings and helped the reader find a way to deal with the situation. This whole situation takes a lot of emotional intelligence, maturity, empathy, and firm boundaries. I'm so happy to see this portrayed in fanfiction. 🫶
Besides that, I also really enjoyed them cooking together—the teasing, their smiles, and the reader's hands over Hyunjin's. It was such a good read, and the underlying awkwardness was so tangible!
"[...] suddenly hyper aware of the strange warmth in your stomach that was also accompanied by the feeling of your stomach dropping. It was an uncomfortable feeling, one you didn't know how to explain or ever experienced before, but you did know you didn't want that combination of symptoms again for whatever emotion this was." I think I died reading that part. Way too good. YOU ARE SO TALENTED. I've said it so often, but the way you describe feelings—especially those opposing feelings—it's perfect.
AAAAAND you did justice to Hyunjin and his feelings in this part! How he struggles with what he has done, the reader's friendliness, the guilt, and the hate he almost has on himself.
"[...] shame paralyzed his body, the warm sensation behind his eyes reminding him to blink, reminding him he shouldn't be so selfish in his pain when he was the cause of so much discomfort." Shame is such an underrated emotion and is rarely acknowledged, but yet it is so powerful. Loved that you incorporated this emotion.
Last but not least, the last part broke me. How the reader chose to comfort Hyunjin, their inner conflict with their choice—"[...] despite what your mind screamed at you, you chose to listen to your heart, you chose him over himself".... I was fr dead on the floor after reading this. I mean—I know how hard it is to be in this situation, and I probably would do the same, but I screamed with the reader's mind.
Sooooo - in conclusion, I love how you portray them so humanly, all their struggles... I can really see myself in them. I can't wait to finally get them together.
And I wanted to point out: taking a rest from writing has paid off. Your dialogs were just perfect. I loved the slow burn. You did really well. ❤️
YOUR MESSAGES ALWAYS MAKE MY DAY SO MUCH BETTER T - T THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!! AHHHHHHH it makes me genuinely so happy that someone finds my work that impactful so it always so appreciated :')!
my intention from the start was to always have chris there as someone the reader could rely on and have candid conversations regarding their emotions! its one thing to write how the reader is feeling, but i think its another for the reader to talk to someone else abt it bc i feel like it can reveal a lil more about the characters and their relationship with each other! like yeaaa chris is reader's manager, but also a great friend over the years theyve known each other!
and yeah, they both have a lot of emotions to process and figure out! its really hard to be either of them in that position because shame/guilt is such a difficult feeling to digest, especially when the other party still hasn't forgiven. so tbh, its hard for hyunjin to know what to do or how to handle anything bc ultimately, it is up to the reader on how they wanna handle their relationship w him... hyunjin can only hope for forgiveness, but has been blessed with kindness too!
reader is also in a hard position because if it wasn't for the fact there wasn't an acting project on the line, reader would've probably been a lot more callous towards hyunjin. but theres a role on the line that the reader really wants, so reader gotta suck it up a little. while the reader did chose to be kind to hyunjin, a lot of it has to do with just spending time with him. i think no matter how angry you can be with someone, if you miss a friendship and are able to see them for who they really are, its hard to be a total dickhead to them JKLFDSJ especially if they seem super apologetic.
BUUUUUUUUUT reader choosing this doesnt mean their hurt goes away.............. I HAVE PLANS, I CANNOT SAY MORE, BUT THERE ARE PLANS FOR THIS SERIES NSJKDFNA emotions are complex and hard so this entire series is just gonna be That (but also im avoiding being repetitive too so that was an added challenge when i outlined this series)
personally, reader is actually a lot better than me, im a hater til i die, but then this story wouldnt be going anywhere...
after this chapter, there are only three dates left and then one extra chapter... i have had this all planned out, im excited and hope u enjoy whats next !!<333 thank u sm again i literally love seeing ur messages in my inbox . and yes!!! the break helped a lot :') thank u for encouraging the writing break tooMMMMMMWAH

Who are your top two clan leaders and what abt them makes them ur faves... and also who's ur absolute least favorite leader out of them all n why?
well if u know me, first and foremost is blackstar. i have bias for him as a kid, and i love him conceptually now as well, acknowledging that some thoughts i have of him are from my own interpretation,
it's so tasty tho, I think i was definitely onto something when i was little. guy who supported both brokenstar and tigerstar rising to become leader and ultimately resolving to do a better job than the both of them? brokenstar was his old friend and he sincerely believed along with the rest of shadowclan that tigerstar could improve their odds? like cmon man. he has so much flavour to him,
and arguably he Did do better than the both of them, over a longer period of time. for one, not killing his own apprentices thru unjust practices, and thinking of his clan first over revenge or petty grievances. there were a lot of reasons for everyone from all three of the other clans to mistrust him, for what he did under both bad leaders, and he's the one who calls out lionblaze for being literally a murderer. and he Is. lionblaze sucks.
he aimed to steady out the life of shadowclan, and from what i remember, his arrogance took a back burner to consideration for his clan. strong but not cruel, as a group instead of individual. i think he succeeded in the end, up until he grew too weak to properly lead any longer,
tallstar, messy as he is, i still enjoy him a lot as a leader. windclan was put thru a lot very early on, and that would throw anyone's abilities into question, but he managed to keep everyone together long enough to return home. despite the rising xenophobia, he chose to hear out fireheart over resolving to battle w thunderclan in the middle of the first arc, and then later banded up to keep from being driven out again. he was a cool old man, making more choices on his own judgement than being pressured by his warriors, which i can't say the same for peaceful or resolute leaders like pine and sunstar,
special shout out to nightstar bc i like shadowclan, even if his leader status can be argued against. he was never accepted by starclan, but i like to think he maintained the position otherwise shadowclan cld have felt even more lost than they already did after brokenstar was driven out,
now for least favourite ... i have complicated feelings abt onestar. was he an interesting antagonist? yah, id say he was, but god damn did his decisions not seem utterly stupid at times. he was infinitely more interesting than mudclaw in the end, but in his aim to prove other cats wrong abt something that's objectively helped windclan in the past, he ruined a lot of his personal relationships in the process,
he was self-involved in a similar but opposing way to tallstar, where tallstar did act in self interest to hopefully benefit the clan, with his own biases in play, onestar sabotaged clan relations in some attempt to make himself out as stronger. he wanted to look better than someone who relied on outside help, but man.. he didn't need to do all that,
but he thought he did, bc of the whole undermining of mudclaws rebellion. he narrowly didn't become leader until the moonpool was founded, and there'd be a good chance the rebellion caused cats to continue to question his leadership even after it was squashed. it cld have all been in his own head tho; he knew the most how close he grew w firestar,
i think im also still sad how he did so much that his relationship w firestar became unsalvagable, even for fire. and then firestar died, w them as enemies. :(

do u think eddie is like arthur? 🤔 means if i wrote a fic about one of them in a situation without context and left out the names would they be interchangable/would it be the same fic? or would both fics be clearly identifyable as two very different character? genuinely wondering abt it
Ooooh, nonnie!!!!😍😍😍
I've wondered the same thing a few times; they definitely have core similarities. They've both had horrific lives (both canonically abused in childhood, both misunderstood, both of them face societal challenges and are outcasts, both of them struggled hugely academically (though with Eddie I'd argue this is because he has a raging case of undiagnosed ADHD, because we see how intelligent he is musically, with his D&D campaigns, how emotionally intelligent and intuitive he is, etc., whereas with Arthur this is likely due to undiagnosed learning difficulties such as dyslexia), etc.), both live in poverty, both stole the hearts of (almost) everyone who met them, and they both deserved much, much better.
However, a huge difference I can immediately see between Arthur and Eddie is that, through it all, Eddie stays Eddie. He shouts, he swears, he calls it stupid, his face crumbles and he's always .5 seconds away from tears and he's legitimately terrified of what's to come. The others have faced the Upside Down before but Eddie never ever has, and his loyalty and protectiveness of his lost sheepies and the love he feels for Wayne and his friends and Hellfire is ultimately at the core of what he goes through; he keeps going for them. He's always kind, so kind, and what you see with Eddie is what you get. He doesn't hide in himself once he makes that decision to stick by the group, and he's the softest, purest, most gentlest man in all of Hawkins.
Arthur, though... he tries so so hard, he does, but he's already doomed from the second we meet him. His story is already well under way and the descent into Joker was inevitable even before the film starts. Eddie made choices again and again and again, whereas Arthur's path was already clear cut. He didn't have a choice or a chance and it's heart-breaking, but that's where I see a major difference between Eddie and Arthur which, despite all of their similarities, makes them totally different people and you would be able to tell in a fic if you only changed their names and appearance details (at least, as someone who knows both characters well; someone who doesn't know either or both characters may not be able to tell). Eddie's narrative gave him choices, gave him chances, and he chose to join the others and to fight Vecna. It was stupid of him, he should have run, but he made that choice. Eddie's whole arc is about facing one's problems and kindness and empathy and not vilifying people who are different.
Arthur's arc is also about kindness and empathy, but here's that difference within the similarity: Arthur's choices had already been taken from him; he was always going to become what he ultimately did (which is himself; he took the mask off by putting on facepaint). And that's another difference. Eddie owns who he is, he's proud of it, whereas Arthur lies, hides himself until his mental illnesses get to a point where he can't and he becomes cold, broken-hearted Joker (to quote Todd Phillips).
So, to finish a ramble, yeah, I think you'd be able to tell if you just changed names and appearances. Situations and circumstances and timescale are similar (Eddie, Indiana, 1986; Arthur, Gotham, 1985), but there are huge differences even inside their similarities and it causes huge consequences for the both of them which are equally as devastating (we don't talk about episode nine in this house; I've never seen it because I absolutely refuse to. I'm not emotionally equipped to handle it).
Arthur gives in. Eddie goes down loud and proud.
I hope this answered your question!!!! I wrote this while drinking my first coffee of the day but I do have a lot of thoughts about these two characters and if you want to discuss this further or ask more questions then please do!!!💗
