#I think it’d be cathartic for him and fuck if ‘shouting match’ isn’t one of blitz most fluent communication styles.. 😂

Okay, I’ve processed and this is my theory: in upcoming episodes, part of the role reversal will absolutely be focused on Stolas getting frustrated at Blitz being overprotective. Blitz has already come to the slow realization that Stolas can get hurt, and that’s before he’s been stripped of his powers. I foresee a comical mishap of Blitz basically wrapping him in bubble wrap levels of overprotection and Stolas blowing up at him for treating him like a child. I think this is going to be a major cornerstone of Stolas’ character arc—like he just finally took control of his life after feeling helpless for 30 years, and now he is helpless, magically anyway.
Anyways, can’t wait to see his knight in shining armor turn into his new gilded cage. :)

uhmmm yeah so
-
“Anyway,” Deuce says, “we need to find some way to defeat that creature and get the magestone.”
Ace huffs disbelievingly. “Yeah, because your whole ‘finding some way’ worked so well with the chandelier, right? We just fought that thing and it absolutely creamed us.” He narrows his eyes. “So what’s the plan now, genius? ‘Cause I sure don’t trust you to improvise!”
“Excuse me?!” Deuce’s shoulders tense like he’s ready to attack. “You’re the one who decided it’d be a great idea to use magic by the statues of the Great Seven, aren’t you?”
As Ace retorts, Yu rubs his forehead and grits his teeth, feeling an oncoming headache.
“Guys,” he starts, only to be cut off and drowned out by their steadily escalating argument. “Seriously—”
They’re not even listening to anyone but themselves, Yu realizes frustratedly, hopelessly. At this rate, we’re never gonna get anything done. Is this what magical arrogance does to people?
By this point, the two freshmen are at each other’s throats, making scathing jabs and refusing to back down. Yu clenches his fists until he just can’t tolerate it anymore, head throbbing with impatience-induced anger and pain.
“What’s your fucking problem?!” he demands furiously, grabbing the two by the wrists and digging his nails into where their gloves don’t quite cover their skin.
Ace and Deuce gasp or yelp in unison, startled out of their argument.
“Ow, jeez! Where’d that come from?” whines Ace.
“‘Where’d it come from,’ he asks,” Yu mocks, rolling his eyes. “Maybe because the two hardheaded dumbasses I’m stuck with won’t stop arguing over the pettiest things. Have you forgotten why we’re here to begin with?”
Deuce winces. “But… we can’t even hurt that thing, you said it yourself. What are we gonna do?”
Dude, seriously…
“We could work together, for a start.” Yu shakes his head. “Heaven knows you haven’t been doing any of that recently.”
“‘Work together…’” Ace tries out the words before snickering. “Is that some kind of joke? You always say the lamest shit with a straight face, Yu.”
“Yeah… No way I could work together with him,” Deuce adds.
“...”
Yu inhales softly and lets go of their wrists. He exhales, taking off one of his gloves, then smiles pleasantly. “You’re right. Pretty lame, isn’t it?”
Before either of them can reply—
SMACK! SMACK!
“Motherfucker—!” Ace curses, cradling his now-bright red, stinging cheek. Next to him, Deuce nurses a matching handprint on his face with clenched teeth.
“It’s funny how you say that when your behavior is even lamer!” Yu shouts, palm burning from the sheer force with which he slapped them. His voice takes on a high, mocking pitch again. “‘Oh, I don’t wanna work together, I’m too cool for dumb shit like that—’ Who the fuck do you think you are? You might see yourself as promising mages who can do whatever they want, but all I see are two bumbling idiots who can’t get over themselves long enough to take their heads out of their asses and consider the people around them! I’m the one joking around here?” He laughs bitterly. “Who’re the ones getting expelled after just one day of classes because they couldn’t behave themselves? If I’m a clown, you two are the whole goddamn circus and then some. Get your shit together already!”
With each and every word, it seems like Ace and Deuce are being stabbed slowly. Stunned thoroughly into silence, they avert their gazes. Guilty as charged, evidently.
Yu feels a mix of twisted, cathartic satisfaction and remorse for blowing up at them. “Listen,” he says softly after taking a few deep breaths, “I just think we’d get this whole magestone and expulsion situation sorted out way more quickly if we worked together. We’ve all got our strengths and weaknesses, so if we combine them then we might actually have a shot at success.”
Deuce is the first to swallow his pride and nod. “You’re right. I’m sorry, Yu… and Ace. We should work together.”
“Yeah, yeah, whatever.” Ace gingerly rubs at his still-sore cheek. “Let’s just get this over with. What’s the plan?”
Yu’s shoulder slump in relief. I actually got them to listen. “There’s not much of one right now, but—let’s quickly put our heads together and see what we can come up with.”
maybe i should post that little snippet of the prologue where instead of yu just telling adeuce to work together it’s also him verbally tearing into them 💀
