To Greed's surprise, Mei became more than comfortable with him – she actually started seeking him out. Not just when he happened to be the one piloting Ling’s body, but actively asking for him. She’d call him over to show off a new alkahestry technique she’d learned, knowing he’d gleefully cheer her on, or she’d tug on his sleeve to whisper a joke that matched his sense of humor more than Ling’s during formal meetings, or on the rare occasions when she’d bring them gifts from home, she’d make sure to bring two – one for Ling, and one for him. Despite all that, he was still surprised when she first referred to him as her brother.
I am pushing my "Greed is Mei's favorite brother" agenda, please enjoy

Sandman/FMA Fusion AU Time
There aren't seven Endless, there are 14.
But they aren't all siblings to each other; they are two distinct families.
First, the children of Time and Night: Destiny, Death, Dream, Destruction, Desire, Despair, and Delirium (once Delight).
And also, the children born from the seeds of the apple from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil (after passing through Adam and Eve's bodies): Pride, Lust, Greed, Envy, Sloth, Gluttony, and Wrath (I'm imagining them as depicted in Fullmetal Alchemist, but with a different origin story here, obviously).
We'll call them the D-Endless, and the H-Endless.
And I think it's safe to say the two families...have some pretty complicated and fraught relationships.
I'd imagine Greed is obsessed with Desire (the epitome of everything he wants), but Desire definitely thinks Greed is beneath them (seeing greed as a cheaper, rip-off version of desire).
Meanwhile, Desire is obsessed with Lust (no, they don't see any contradictions here. Lust is just one part of desire distilled into its purest form, it's not pretending to be desire in its entirety).
Lust wants nothing to do with Desire (they make her feel inadequate and she hates it), but did harbor admiration for Destruction, until he left, because...
Destruction kind of had a "big brother looking after little brother" relationship with Gluttony, and tried to take him with him when he left, but Gluttony did not make travel easy or inconspicuous, so Destruction ended up regretfully ditching him not too long in, like a puppy abandoned at a truck stop (earning Destruction Lust's eternal enmity—both for taking him in the first place and for leaving him).
Delirium started hanging out with Gluttony after, seeing some kindred spirit between them, since they both lost Destruction, and miss him.
Envy wants to spend time in the Dreaming but is (ironically) too proud to ask permission for it, so is constantly trying to sneak in. Dream would let Envy in if they asked (and actually is eager to show off his realm and all its wonders), but is likewise too proud to offer (rather than getting to benevolently agree when Envy requests humbly, which is how he thinks it should go), and so throws Envy out every time they are caught (and then they both sulk about it).
Pride spends a lot of his time seething about what Destiny is up to, but never actually making much of an actual effort to find out or do anything about it (basically, just ranting to Wrath). Destiny doesn't think about Pride at all.
Despair hangs out with Sloth a lot, finds it an easy and companionable silence. Whether Sloth has actually noticed Despair is there, is debatable.
Wrath hates all of the D-Endless, despises them really, and is constantly contemplating ways to permanently kill them all so only his family will remain. Although he usually defers to Pride as the oldest in their family, he's also not above acting without orders if he thinks he sees an opportunity to bump one of the D-Endless off, temporarily or not.
Death tried to view all the H-Endless sympathetically, "walk a mile in their shoes," "everyone deserves infinite chances," "no one is all good or all bad," -style, but the truth is, she actually also secretly completely despises all of them, and experiences no small amount of satisfaction whenever she's gotten to oversee the death of the current incarnation of one of the H-Endless (and then feels guilty about not feeling bad and tries to make up for it by being extra nice to her own siblings).
